Flying Colours Motorcycle Training

Fantastic experience: this might be long AND rambling however it needs to be said. Flying Colours are without a doubt the best Motorcycle School i’ve ever been in touch with. In April of this year an incredibly lovely man named Simon led my CBT, which can’t have been an easy task considering that up to that point i had only ever ridden pillion on 2 occasions and sat on motorcycles that were off. He managed to calmly lead the way and got me to a point where i was comfortable to head out to the roads for real knowing i had the know how to keep myself and road users safe. After a few months and remembering that only in November i was turning 24 i decided I wanted to test my luck in upgrading my license to a full A License. In my quest to book everything in, i looked at multiple schools across the area i was willing to travel too and a couple of them had attractive packages but realistically i wasn’t going anywhere else than Flying Colours and now that I’m out the other end and have passed my DAT first time I can safely say that I was in the best hands possible. Nigel handled my training for the Mod 1 & 2, he perfectly balanced the professional side and personable side of it and constantly offered a coffee to us during our break to warm up during the cold of the winter. He also was the first to offer heated gloves to myself and the other student i trained with when we complained that our fingers were stiffening up. We had a 50 min ride up to Burgess Hill test centre which turned into 1 hour and 15 mins due to traffic and Nigel stayed talking in my ear like a friend rather than an instructor but kept giving me valuable Mod 2 advice between sentences. Very talented rider who proved to me over this last week that he’s worth the qualification he carries and more. The owner of Flying Colours also happened to be in the yard as we were getting ready to swing round to the test centre in eastbourne for my mod 2 and, again, he was lovely, patient and full of banter to calm those pre exam jitters i had. i’ve seen some negative reviews due to the money situation, don’t let people fool you with their negative words. the website clearly states that the price you pay is non-refundable, and once that price is paid Flying Colours will have to pay for test slots, staffs time and resources so when you cancel or attempt to reschedule a test that doesn’t refund the company back the money they will lose so kicking off and leaving a bad review for the company isn’t the way to go about things. Overall 5/5 and I have personally recommended to my girlfriend AND my mum that they should use Flying Colours if & when they decide to do their CBT. They will be in excellent hands!

Negative experience: I wouldn't go anywhere near these guys. After dealing with Ande Friend I was owed £44 and he didn't repay it. I had to escalate a case with paypal which he just ignored. Untrustworthy.

Fantastic experience: Did my CBT here this week and my son did it with them back in February. Really pleased with the friendly and professional teaching and knowledge. Would definitely recommend them to complete beginners like me, as they gave me confidence and great advice.

Fantastic experience: I did a 5-day DAS with Ande and went from a shaky big-bike rider to a solid first time pass with no minors (despite having no car license). The training bikes (Kawasaki Z650) are a joy to ride. They are modern and in excellent condition. Not too heavy, and nicely balanced. Powerful, but unintimidating. Perfect for the beginner rider. Ande takes a maximum of two people for his DAS courses which is great as you get consistent personal feedback. He is excellent at identifying your riding weaknesses, and adapting the course to enable you to improve. I felt that he was willing to go the extra mile to help me pass first time. On a personal level, Ande is a great guy. His blend of humour, professionalism, and training expertise is impressively well-struck. I learned a lot, and had a good time doing it. Overall, I highly recommend this training school.

Fantastic experience: I requested a 5 day course with Ande at Flying colours. After much consideration on who to do my A2 licence with, many, many people on Facebook and family friends said to go here. I came with 2 years of riding experience and no idea what I was doing. Ande's brilliant advice and training allowed me to pass MOD 1 and MOD 2 first try! I couldn't be more thankful. If you want to pass easily, come here. Ande is a friendly person who is great at instructing. With 15+ years of experience, I felt safe and well informed whilst on the road. Overall the course cost me £750 for a 5 day course, at peak time in the year. Eacg day was ~4 hours of riding with off and on road practice. I rode with one other person on a restricted Kawasaki Z650. The bike handled great, and the time we booked in was managed well. If he can pass me, I'm sure he can pass you. Couldn't reccomend more. No bad words to say if I tried. Top man, top training.

Fantastic experience: Would massively recommend flying colours !! Andy and his team where amazing and helped me achieve exactly what i wanted !! Learnt a massive amount from the lessons received loads of feedback , was told where I was going wrong and how to rectified the issues safely and efficiently when out riding on the road the whole week was fun , enjoyable and an all round a great experience Finished the week with my full A category licence The mod 1 and mod 2 training was great Thanks again guys !! ️

Fantastic experience: Flying Colours provide an excellent training experience. Simon and Andy are calm, knowledgeable, friendly and, most importantly, expert instructors. I was in a small group of three, ages between 16 & 65 with a variety of prior experience on two wheels. Simon gave us all personal attention, spotted individual faults and gave clear advice as to how to correct them, adapting his teaching style to our individual learning styles. I had planned to do my CBT in order to ride a 'twist & go' but the guys encouraged me to complete the CBT course on a geared bike, which I did, achieving more than I expected in the day. I will definitely use them for my full bike licence education. Highly recommended.

Turned up for a taster morning and was told i could just do my cbt that i had booked for the next day if i wanted as i was the only person booked in for that day. Took my cbt as a one to one with si who is a great teacher! He was patient and understanding, let me take my time with anything that i was having trouble with and adapted his way of teaching to the way that i learn best which not many will do! All in all i couldn't have had a better experience and HIGHLY recommend flying colours as the school to go to if you want to take your cbt in a friendly, fun and pressure free atmosphere! Fantastic experience: Great approach to teaching, relaxed atmosphere, all the knowledge you gain does embed solid, confidence grows with each hour. I’ve done CBT, mod 1&2 - all passed first attempt (not really ridden Mbike prior to CBT). I Absolutely recommend the intense course - get it done in one go and that’s it. Most importantly we we’ve ridden bikes all week, great weather, few coffee’s- good days out. BTW not some bikes - brand new Kawasaki z650s ;)

Working with Simon was brilliant he was amazing at explaining things and working around peoples' understanding/abilities. Good sense of humour which helped to put me at ease. Fantastic experience: We had our CBT on Wednesday this week and were quite nervous about the day but as soon as we met Simon we felt at ease and quickly came to enjoy the day and the training tasks. Simon was fantastic at explaining to us about safety, bike mechanical operations and bike control ability. He made each of us feel like a valued individual and made the day more personal. Fantastic experience: Absolutely excellent! Follow the advice given, have a laugh and enjoy the ride! I did my CBT with Simon, one of the instructors, back in March who was fantastic with getting me on the bike and comfortable with passing the CBT aspect. Simon was very friendly and supportive during the day and made some recommendations to assist in completing my DAS. I came back to do the 5 day course with Ande, the other instructor, going over my experience on day one and then practicing for the remaining days on MOD 1 and MOD 2. It was a fun filled, hilarious and educational. Definitely take the advice and information on board, put it to practice and iron out anything before your exams. Most importantly, have fun! Thankfully, I passed first time on DAS and I'm so glad I chose this centre. Ande has a lot of knowledge and is always willing to help with questions and answers. I travelled from an hour away to practice with Flying Colours, it was worth every minute and penny, and would definitely recommend to anyone. Wish I could do more training just for the fun of it!

Fantastic experience: Redone my CBT here as it was about to expire. I had Simon as an instructor. He was absolutely great. Ran me through exactly what was being taught and the safety behind it rather than the do this do that, which other training places in the area do. His method of teaching actually taught the safety behind what you are being taught which is great. The teaching was laidback but if he spotted an issue he told you what you needed to do and how you needed to fix it. Also his emergency brake exercise is a brilliant way of teaching it. Definitely a great place for new riders to do their CBT or anyone coming back to redo a CBT or advance to a higher licence. 10/10

Simon the instructor was very clear consise and patient with myself and the other student even when i had 1 or 2 falls. When out and about gave us all the knowledge we needed to get through the traffic segment. 10/10 would recommend.

Nice stop at a cafe midway through. Good advice on next steps. Was definitely not ' just turn up and you will pass', you need to show reasonable ability to get your certificate.

Fantastic experience: I have been riding a motorbike for many years but only when on holidays so I decided to take a CBT having read all the reviews and I tell you I did not regret it! I was lucky enough to have Simon who has deep knowledge of bikes but also a unique blend of humour/patience and a few tricks up his sleeve to make even the most nervous learner relaxed. I was mind blown by little to big things I have been doing wrong all these years and the true validation of Simons skills came when another learner told me that he had taken many CBTs and that Simon was by far the very best instructor he ever met. CBT with Flying Colours has been one of the best learning experiences I had for many years! I honestly can't find a flaw in Simons Coaching style.

Negative experience: I booked a cbt course and was told over the phone to come in at 9am. When I arrived the place was locked and nobody there. I called their number with no answer until the 4th attempt. The instructor said he was on the road with pupils and would call me back in 15 minutes. He never did. Totally bizarre experience.

Fantastic experience: Having wanted to do my bike CBT for many years, finally took the plunge. I want to say that I had a very kind, patient and supportive CBT instructor, even when I was struggling massively. Fantastic experience: 8 weeks ago I started from scratch to ride a motorbike, and with the expertise of Andy and Simon today 20.1219 I reached my goal and passed my test first time (mod 2). Fantastic experience: I went there today I had Simon he was a fantastic instructor well laid back and he made my day so enjoyable I didn't want to get back into my car I wanted to keep riding I highly recommend flying colours motorcycle training If you feel unsure about getting a bike try flying colours the cbt was brilliant I was nervous made a few mistakes but I worked on them and now I have my CBT can't wait to return for my DAS soon as I save some money up

Fantastic experience: Did my CBT today! I was beyond nervous (to the point my leg was shaking uncontrollably on a stationary bike) I was thinking off giving up! But the instructor Simon went slow with me, gave me confidence and made me feel at easy. I opted out of the bike as it wasn't right for me and Simon taught me how to ride the scooter. I honestly can't thank or prise Simon enough!! He was so brilliant, funny and patient with me! If your nervous or scared he is the one you want!!!

Fantastic experience: CBT with Chris was excellent. Thoughtful, very good teaching standard and catered to all skill sets. Their borrowed gear needs updating tho! I went on to complete a DAS course 2 months later with Ande. He's what I would consider the perfect instructor. He has an excellent mix of humour, confidence, patience and authority. He's firm when he needs to be and trains you far beyond what is the basic pass. He is always 3 steps ahead of you and embraces the mantra of ''no such thing as a stupid question'. Recommend the 5 day course as 4 would of felt somewhat tight given I had no bike experience other than the CBT. If you're doing DAS, just book it with these guys... They are that good.

Positive experience: Excellent training to get you on the road. From CBT to a direct access course this school can do it all. I have done the CBT twice here and both times I have felt that I was given exactly the right amount of training for this course. If all the instructors are as good as Laurie then I am sure that I will be passing my test this year and then upgrading my bike. Which the wife won't like so please don't tell her. ****** Edit 29/05/2019 ****** After having my CBT here twice it was time to take get my full license. I tried to book with Andy and even got a set of dates agreed, but whenever I tried to pay for the course I was ignored. No responses to my texts at all. With the agreed dates approaching I once again contacted Andy to confirm the course and was once again ignored. I don't mind not being able to get a place if you are busy but just to ignore communication from a customer is a sure way to lose business.

My lad came home very happy not just because he passed but because he felt relaxed and the instructions were clear and not pushy . Very happy lad and looking forward to coming back for next licence.

Fantastic experience: Did my CBT with these chaps so I can only comment on the tuition I received at this level as I did my full DAS with JS Gedge (because Flying Colours were booked up and I'm impatient). But I really enjoyed myself on the CBT and Lorie made us all feel very comfortable and his teaching was good and about as in-depth as you'd want for novices - enough to get you thinking not too much that you're confused. I felt safe all the time and in good company, the humour rolled, it was nice and relaxed and he really knew his stuff. Would recommend.

Fantastic experience: These guys helped me get through my test when another company was happy to just take my money and keep me hanging around drinking tea instead of training me.
