Dave is extremely knowledgeable and professional, he is straight to the point and tells you what you need to know, with no faff. The pricing is spot on, and the bikes are great - if you're looking to get any of your tests done, look no further! Dave is a terrific guy, and it was a pleasure being trained by him.

Fantastic experience: Best place in Surrey to get a cbt done, was very professional, had great knowledge of current road laws, knew what he was talking about no matter the subject about bikes or road laws. (Doesn't waffle on pretending they know what they are talking about). Definitely recommend for first time riders or even if you need a renewal. Plus customer service 10/10, he knows how to hold up a conversation and genuinely seemed interested in what you have to say. 5/5 stars, would give 10/5 if it was an option

Fantastic experience: Dave at M&D says it as it is / to the point that you remember what you need to do and, importantly, what to avoid. His bluntness is direct, often funny but certainly memorable. I’m not an experienced rider but with his tuition I passed Mod 1 and today Mod 2. Both 1st time. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Well, what can I say?.....Dave at M&D is quite the character, a great instructor with years of experience which can be seen not only from his words of wisdom but also the way in which he gives his students the confidence to ride the bike with ease both during in lessons and in preparation for tests (CBT, Mod2 and Mod 2). I cannot speak more highly of this training school. So, if you're up for a straight talking, no nonsense, funny and genuine kinda instructor then take your lessons here....you'll never forget some of the great anecdote along the way. Negative experience: Worst experience ever, where its suppose to be exciting. Without being personal, talking business, get more organised. You are an instructor at the end of the day and felt like a grade 5 PE class. Remember why you do it in the first place or time to hang up your training boots. As a business owner, not the way to treat customers. Finished off with another training school, cost me a penny and was worth every cent. Like day and night as far as organisation and training.

Negative experience: Horrible, he's very huge and i contact him on whatsapp to ask him about how to book and he just said pay by card I ask him for bank details to pay it and again he said pay by card . Most of things I pay I pay by link or transfer and should be easy just give me the bank account details i will transfer the money and boom it . Anyway I will find another guy to do it because I think he Doesn't need money he might be rich . Never again and I will not recommend him . Def he will lose to many people as I know a lot of Brazilian people that need get a CBT in Woking

Fantastic experience: I have done 2 CBT’s with M&D now and they are brilliant. Dave makes you feel comfortable and safe but also will point out where you go wrong so you can get it right. He’s incredibly knowledgeable regarding bike and training. And he also puts you at ease and has me laughing throughout the day which makes the day enjoyable! Highly recommend if you need any bike test.

Fantastic experience: Dave is a great bloke, very patient and has clearly been doing this for a long time as he has the structure of the course down to a tee. The equipment provided was in good condition and well maintained. Dave has a great rapport with the examiners at the Farnborough test centre which immediately puts you at ease when going for your test. All in all, the course was thoroughly enjoyable rather than nervy, and I really cant fault my experience. Thanks again Dave!

Fantastic experience: Dave trained me from my CBT all the way through to my Mod 2. I passed each stage first time which he should take credit for. He is forthright but has a sense of humour. That's exactly what you want when learning. Expect him to be honest in his assessment and advice. He identified my areas of improvement quickly. He trains you to ride a motorbike and not just to pass a test. I highly recommend training with him. I can't remember what I used for CBT, but for Mod 1 and 2 was on a well maintained and almost new MT07 which was a joy to ride. Thanks Dave, really enjoyed the training. I also want to add that an earlier review suggests not using M&D if you are a woman. I'm not sure why they suggest this and don't agree with that assessment, as a young girl was on my CBT and Dave very respectful at all times. I'll be using Dave to train my own daughter in the near future.

Fantastic experience: I trained for my mod 2 with Dave, he was recommended to me by a friend. Dave is an absolute salt of the earth guy. Top notch motorcycles to complete your training on. I rode the Yamaha MT-07 and I’m thrilled to say I passed my test first time. Thank you Dave for all your help, I’m now the proud owner of an ER6F, just hoping for some nice weather now to rack up the miles.

Not only did he get me to pass the test though he made me a better rider and that will benefit far more than any paper work saying I'm legal to ride. Negative experience: Unfortunately, I would not recommend M&D Training and, in fact, I did not begin or complete my training since Dave refused to train me! After he called me 'sweet cheeks' from the get go, laughed at my drivers license photograph and then heckled me about my eyesight I was happy to leave. I did not relish spending the afternoon renewing my CBT with him. Nor was I confident that this training could be carried out in just an afternoon. I would NOT advise that anyone go here, particularly women. I did receive a full refund, without any disagreement, which I'm grateful for. The response from the owner below is an 'interesting' interpretation of what happened.

Fantastic experience: Renewed my CBT with these company and it was great. Dave is a really good instructor and the whole experience was really enjoyable ( even more the stop for a burger and a coffee ) . I will recommend anyone round the area that is looking the get their CBT to book with them as you will be riding through the centre of Guildford with heavy traffic and that will give you the confidence to ride on your own in town centres with plenty of traffic ( and buses ... ) . Fantastic experience: I got into biking late, and did a 5-day Direct Access course with Dave at M&D training, split either side of the pandemic lockdown. I'd definitely recommend. Dave's a great teacher, able to make learning fun while at the same time ensuring that you know what's needed and what to watch for. He'll tell you like it is, without sugar coating! And he knows where the best cafes and burger vans are. I used looked forward to my training days (though not the tests so much). The bikes are new and fully prepared, and all you need to do is show up on time (sorry about that Dave). In preparation for Mod1, you can sometimes practice on the actual test course at Farnborough - this makes a huge difference, and it helps confidence a lot if you're familiar with the instructions and the layout. Moving on to Mod2, the surrounding area is perfect to learn on with a mix of town roads, quick trips out to the surrounding countryside or into Guildford and even a quick blast on the A3 dual carriageway when you're ready. Two learners per instructor maximum so you get plenty of individual time and breaks to recap and discuss how things went. It's all taken at a steady pace and by the time the test comes around you'll be confident in your riding ability and have every chance of passing. They're a great no-nonsense school with great trainers - thanks Dave!

Positive experience: Good service

Fantastic experience: Recently had my CBT renew with these fine gents. Unfortunately the first time I had booked to go, we entered the second lockdown, so had to be rescheduled. The next time I saw them I stupidly had an expired licence ‍♂️, so had to wait for that to come through. As soon as it arrived, they booked me straight in and I was out with them a few days later. Really good advice given and I will hopefully be doing my theory soon........and when I pass that I will certainly give these guys a call to get my DAS done. Cheers Dave Lee

Fantastic experience: I would absolutely recommend Dave, i returned to motorcycling after 45 years, so a tough one for him, to pull me out of many years of bad driving habits, let alone teach me to ride a powerful modern motorcycle safely to achieve test standard. Fantastic experience: I had been riding bikes 12 years ago on a CBT and suddenly stopped due to my son being born. When the pandemic started I decided it was safer on a bike than it was on public transport. I searched for a trainer that cared and would have the time to guide me through the training needed. I found this person with Dave...... From the start he was friendly, outgoing and made you feel at ease, as the training progressed it was evident that Dave’s skill in riding was easily equalled to his skill in teaching. He was confident and straight to the point, what made this easier to take on board was Dave’s friendly manner and the relentless banter. All these things combined made learning to ride fun and easy. I have now successfully passed my Mod 1 & Mod 2 on my 1st attempt, purely because of Dave. I couldn’t recommend this way of learning more, if you listen to him and take on board what he is saying then I’m sure you will also pass any exam you wish to take Thanks Dave.....all the best........Fluffy!

Fantastic experience: To be honest, I have to give 10 Stars. I haven’t got M1 and M2 tested yet because the government limit the test slots at the moment . However, I still want to share my experience to someone who want to find what you need with M&D. I have been trained the first 3 days with Dave, it was absolutely a fantastic experience! Dave is a very experienced rider and a great, friendly, and responsible teacher. What he have taught me and shared to me was exactly what I need! I have realised those are the most important and valuable things when you are looking for someone to train you. I’m not only looking for passing the tests but also, most importantly, I would like to be a good, reliable, and safe rider to start my motorcycle career. Many people knows that the first teacher is very important to you because his style will become your character in the future. I’m very happy and lucky to find Dave to be my first teacher for riding! I’m not thinking too much about when I can pass the tests at the moment. What I want to do is to copy Dave’s experience as much as possible. I’m sure those will safe my life in the future.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars and that's only because they don't offer 10! Honestly, if you're doing your CBT for the first time or simply doing a refresher, I can not sing Dave's praises enough! I did my 1st CBT with Dave over at Slyfield years ago, and he was great. I came back years later to refresh my CBT, and with a view to eventually get my full license. I gotta say Dave's standards haven't changed. He is still very thorough, helpful and makes for really easy learning. He makes learning to ride a bike fun, and memorable. I came back to refresh my CBT and to learn how to ride a bike with gears this time. I had worked myself into over thinking it, and Dave caught on to that straight away. Not only did he make it easy for me to learn, he was really supportive and helped me iron out my bugbears and issues before going out onto the road. I'm now a very happy motorcyclist and Loving the regained freedom I have from being out on two wheels again! This is thanks to Dave and his support and great teaching style. Honestly, I can't thank the man enough. I would highly recommend M&D to anyone, and look forward to doing my Mod 1 and 2 and eventually full license with them.

Fantastic experience: Had a lovely time with Dave. Very easy to get on with and friendly from the get go. He knows his stuff and good experienced rider. I have done alot of off road stuff before but nothing on road and realised I couldn't do simple things and actually had to listen to him and take on board what he was telling me to do and I got it. He told me in a friendly manner but makes you listen. Great teacher and had a fun time, will 100% be going back for module 1&2.

Fantastic experience: I should have passed my motorcycle test back in the 70’s when it was a lot easier but never got round to doing it. When my son said he was going to get a full bike license I decided to join him. We decided to go with Dave at M&D motorcycle training. Looking back at our journey I don’t think we could have picked a better bloke he makes riding fun but also tells it to you straight on your mistakes and boy did I make some mistakes but he was there to put you right. Also because I was self employed he made time out of his busy schedule to fit me in with a bit of 1&1 training which was absolutely brilliant. I would have no hesitation to recommend Dave to anybody

Fantastic experience: Fantastic training school, I have been using M&D since I was 16 for my first CBT on my birthday. It was a fun day, very easy going. I then used M&D again for another CBT, after my first expired. Again another fun day with great input on helping me ride a manual 125cc bike. I have now gone on to complete my A2 licence, with the instructor Dave, who has great knowledge and made everything easy to understand. Also with use of the MOD1 test site, this made me at ease for my test because is was familiar. I can’t wait to book my A licence with Dave in the near future. Fantastic experience: After having vowed at the age of 18 never to ride any kind of motorbike with me in charge again i reached my early 40's and got a job in town. Driving in and parking was out of the question as the cost and time was ridiculous. So i decided to learn again, still very apprehensive about it all i had lessons with Dave who was brilliant, he gave me the opportunity to spend a day riding round the car park to get a feel for the scooter and see if i wanted to go ahead an go out on the road, I Was still nervous so i arranged to come back another day and have another go and see how i went, Thanks to his patience dealing with a slightly neurotic lady I passed my CBT and went on to spend 2 years riding my scoot to work and loving it. Dave was great if ever i had a query on just needed some guidance or information on what would be the safest or best option for me on the bike i could call and ask, He was always helpful and i feel thankful i found him to teach me.

Negative experience: Terrible experience a couple of years back, turned up to have them refuse CBT training based on showing me a “level crossing without barriers” sign (he had shuffled through the pack of card to find the most uncommon road signs/markings deliberately) and me not knowing what it was, I was 16 at the time and had not had any communication from them regarding pre-reading. They offered no refund so paid a lot of money for absolutely nothing. Just felt their attitude was particularly poor.

Fantastic experience: Have recently completed my modules 1 and 2 (passed both first time), and can't praise Dave enough. Incredibly patient and helpful, and always able to make the sessions a light-hearted laugh. Also, I only had 3 full days and 2 part days (prior to the tests) training with him, but I can't believe how much I learnt and improved in this time.

Fantastic experience: Would certainly recommend. Dave was very thorough with teaching. I knew the basics on how to ride a bike but never expected to learn so much more from this training. Dave was very good at explaining what and why. He was fair in building confidence and fair with pointing out weaknesses. I also found him to be a really interesting and nice guy - its very important when doing all this training, you have someone who you get along with. Everyone I saw throughout the training programme, had great rapport and banter with him. If you want to learn how to ride safely and pass both tests first time, but also have a lot of fun whilst doing it, I would recommend choosing M&D

Fantastic experience: Great set of blokes, training they provide is excellent and by the book. Dave and Matt's knowledge and teaching skill will keep you alive. Great prices for whatever course you are looking to do. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking to do there motorbike license.

Negative experience: Budget setup, really showed up when I went elsewhere between MOD1 & MOD2. Pretty hands-off training with very little feedback, supposedly a full day goes from 9am-3pm although both ‘full days’ I did finished by 1.30pm (one of which we spent at least an hour of at the BMW showroom). On my MOD1 training there were CBTs with the same instructor in the morning that prevented any meaningful MOD1 training being down before 11am. Left not feeling very confident about passing my MOD1 and failed it exactly as expected on the U-turn first time. Scraped through second time and then decided to look elsewhere for my MOD2. Absolutely amazing experience at a nearby school in Farnborough recommended by a friend really made me realise how budget and unprofessional the setup of M&D is in comparison. After a full 8.30pm-3pm confidence boosting day with plenty of small breaks exactly when I wanted them, supportive and detailed 1:1 instruction and an hour’s practice before the test I clean sheeted it first time. They also had a massive off-road area set up exactly the same as the MOD1 area, something M&D is lacking plus a range of newer bikes. Both CBF500s at M&D are pretty old. Much preferred the choice of the newer XJ6 and MT07s at the second school I went with. Pros: Slightly cheaper than most of it’s competitors. Matt very nice, Dave nice but quite brash and not great at boosting confidence. Hiring the Farnborough test site for MOD1 practice is a really good idea given the tiny area in Guildford but there was nowhere near enough time and the 30 minute ride each way to get there is of very little benefit for MOD1 Cons: Slightly disparaging receiving so little feedback, having a small practice area and getting so little time on MOD1 training time in Farnborough. Old bikes and no choice since only one model available Cheap cost reflected in quality of training. Plus it isn’t cheaper than passing first time!

Fantastic experience: Can't thank Dave enough for helping my son pass his CBT test. My son has mild learning difficulties and had gone to another company to do his CBT test, they were very rude, laughed at him, gave no time to make sure he understood the information given and upset my son. I spoke to Dave and he was brilliant! He gave my son an hour 1 to 1 lesson which built my sons confidence after it had been knocked out of him by the other company. We booked him in to do the CBT test and he passed! Why aren't there more people out there like Dave! Thank you!!!

Negative experience: This review is dedicated to all those riders who are looking to improve their riding skills. I had my CBT done at M&D and it was good. So, if you are looking to get CBT passed, M&D is reasonably OK. Now if you are looking for Mod 1 or Mod 2 training, avoid this company since there are really better ones out there. Read on.. I'm new to this area and booked my Mod 1 and Mod2 training with M&D since the rating was good. I got fooled so, I want all my fellow riders not to make the same mistake. When I started training with them for Mod 1 and Mod 2 I didn't really know the complete details on these tests. So after my training was done I was talking to my friend and he mentioned about the swerve test. When I talked to Dave on this, he said don't worry about it we will do it while going to the test. Come one, how can you be so incompetent? Their small facility in Guildford is not good enough for Mod 1. The Mod 1 swerve with the correct speed needs to be practiced just like how you practice the figure of 8 or the U turn. When I did my first swerve try at the Mod 1 test, I clocked 46kmph and the examiner asked me to do it again. This time I was focusing on the speed and that takes your attention of, and I touched the blue cone. I went to the test center the next Saturday and met few trainers. That's how I got to know how incompetent these guys at M&D really are. The other trainers I spoke to make sure that the trainee gets to practice this swerve test either at their center or at other test centers. The failure percentage for this test itself is high for Mod 1. I hardly got any Mod 2 training with M & D even though I paid for it. They were giving Mod 2 training for a guy appearing for the test the next day and I was put riding behind the trainer. So, if you are looking for CBT training, M&D is probably OK but for Mod 1 and Mod 2, do not simply book with these guys. Research enough with other trainers as well before you pay. What I also learned is that google review cannot be completely relied upon until you read all the negative comments and then digest enough. All the positive reviews are rated at 5 star. This in itself is suspicious. While at the test center, I met few other trainers who are very passionate about the motorcycle and the training itself. Dave appeared to be moody at times. These are signs of issues that I ignored. So, don't make this mistake yourself.

Fantastic experience: My own personal experience, excellent. From day 1 to passing my mod2 the best way of describing the training was confidence through practical 'real-world' experience... and with a joke or 2 :))). Some trainers prefer a 'protocol approach' and although it is ok for some It is not something I respond well to as you are being fuelled through the dangers and not through the enjoyment of riding. Dave taught me defensive riding techniques but in a way that was genuinely enjoyable. Happy to recommend and now my partner is learning with M&D so we can go riding together. All good!!

Fantastic experience: From start to finish the customer care has been excellent - Matt put everyone in my daughter's group at ease from the outset. Highly knowledgeable and clear instructions helped to make completing the CBT course a fun and insightful day for her. Cannot recommend highly enough and will be booking further training for her to take the full test with M&D Motorcycle Training.

Fantastic experience: Excellent training setup at M and D. Great accessible location in Park Barn and the guys give you a really good training course that goes at a good pace. Both Matt and Dave are approachable guys and will work with you to strengthen your weaker areas and they give you knowledge that may, one day, save your life on the road. They get you through the basics but give them the time and attention and they will turn you into a safe and competent motorcyclist (don't ever use the term bikers!) Great guys, great setup and they tell it as it is.....highly recommend them if you are serious about learning to ride a machine properly........

Fantastic experience: I have just passed my A licence today and Matt and Dave are class and very professional in regards to everything they do. When I first started I could not move the bike probably so this gives you a rough idea how rubbish I was. I passed my test with 3 minors and its down to m&d training. I would say if you want to learn to ride and not a complete Pratt then look no further then this training school

Fantastic experience: I have done my cbt, mod1 and mod2 with Matt and Dave and passed everything first time I would recommend them to anyone who is thinking of doing their bike test it's a relaxed atmosphere and they will teach you how to ride to stay alive not just pass the test.

Fantastic experience: Good lads with loads of practical experience. Very pragmatic and flexible for pt I and II.

Negative experience: Talked about anything but bikes, started in a small cramped car park, rushed through the basics and pushed to go onto more difficult moves before comfortable so set up to fail. Did not even cover an emergency stop (which I did not know was an omission until I talked to an experienced biker later). Quick enough to take your money but too quick to finish. Refused extra training on the day.. spent a total of 3.5 hours start to finish. Response to your answer Again not answering your failures and putting back on the trainee. An offer of a full refund would have been more acceptable so that I could go to someone else who could actually train me, but as you conveniently cannot find me on your system then that would not be possible.

Fantastic experience: Nothing but good things to say about Matt and Dave. Did one instruction day with Matt, having already had a CBT, really nice, patient (even when I had to repeat my emergency stop practice for the 5th time) - helpful bloke. Then went on to do Mod 1 & 2 in one day with Dave; this was actually a bit of a happy accident. I had booked on to my Mod 1 test with Dave in the morning having completed the instruction day with Matt the previous Sunday. We met up a couple of hours early and Dave gave me some instruction over the radio as we rode down to the test centre; passed first time. Dave then told me that he’d put my name down for the Mod 2 test in the afternoon as someone had dropped out but put me under no pressure to take the test “it’s yours if you want it, if you don’t pass it won’t cost you a penny”. He took me out for a bit of a ride around to make sure I was in Mod 2 form then I went on to pass that first time too. Would highly recommend. Cheers guys.
