Fantastic experience: I recently completed two 'Back to Biking' sessions with Exceptional Rider Training, and I am overall more than satisfied with the experience. The booking of both sessions was straightforward, and the motorbikes provided -I had the opportunity to ride two different motorbikes- were in an excellent condition. However, what impressed me the most was the instructor, Mark. His expertise was clear from the beginning. Not only he was knowledgeable but he was also meticulous in his approach to riding without becoming overwhelming. Throughout the sessions, his instructions via Bluetooth were precise and to the point. Even more importantly, Mark’s objective extended beyond simply covering the basics as I soon realised that he truly aimed to develop me into a competent and confident rider. Overall, highly recommended!

He calmly answered the same questions over and over again without a hint of frustration, and I’ll miss hearing his voice in my ear. Fantastic experience: I first started with another company and for one or two reasons decided to leave and start with ERT!… as soon as I called they was ready and happy to assist. They booked in my mod 1 and mod 2 straight away and before you know it I was all done! Fantastic experience: I worked with them with very little experience as a rider (CBT and a couple of follow up sessions had been done with a different company). In two weeks I’d gotten comfortable on a 400cc, and by that time had passed both the mod 1 and the mod 2 for the A2 license. The people I worked with were really nice, and I loved talking with everyone living and working there. Will be coming back in two years for my next steps!

I’ve done many training courses in different sectors during my life and i found that many trainers talked about themselves and their personal issues instead of doing their job. It wasn’t the case with Jamie. All students i met at ERT they’ve all passed their tests which makes me belive training is the key. Fantastic experience: To whoever is reading this: if you want to learn how to ride a bike, hit up ERT St Albans. They are the best when it comes to availability, teaching and very supportive! I have just passed my Mod2 test today, a huge thank you to Mark who was teaching me Mod1 and Mod2. I forgot the second instructors name today but he was also very helpful, teaching me rules of the roundabout roads and observation before I took the Mod2 test. I completed the course in less than a month. With CBT and theory, approximately 3 months I completed it altogether. Fantastic experience: Amazing team!! Lots of contact between myself and Ronn/Lizzie between CBT, lessons and tests. This also included chats after lessons about next steps and general chats about their biking experiences. All of the instructors are fantastic as well. I mainly had Mark as my instructor as he took me all the way from my second lesson to my Mod 2, gave me all the encouragement necessary, explained everything to me clearly and was very patient. I’m so glad that they were recommended to me by previous students of theirs, because they also had great experiences. I wish them all the luck in the future for new students because, as I’ve said before, they are amazing and I can only speak highly of all of them.

Fantastic experience: Ron and lizzie were professional from start to finish and was very informative about the whole process, I booked my whole course with ERT with only some experience on a bike , I was offered a cancellation for my cbt as requested via the website, Ron set a plan out for my lessons and booked all my tests. Mark and Jamie were brilliant from cbt all the way through to mod1& mod2 the lessons were taught really well I was told calmly where I needed to improve ready for my tests I learnt so much. I passed my mod1 & mod2 first time the whole process took me about a month to have a full bike licence ,Modern bikes used and good quality equipment used. Thanks again everyone at ERT. Thanks Andy

Fantastic experience: I just checked -exactly 20 days ago I got in touch with ERT thinking of different options: as either I had to do another CBT or finally was going for the full A license. I am super glad i have chosen the latter. to start off: schedule built around my availability(school runs, holidays,etc,etc) then: no time is wasted, those 4hour sessions are packed with action training - weaknesses addressed on the spot again and again, until you do it right.My instructor was more patient with my failures than myself. again no time wasted - as in quick progression I went from 125cc to 650cc in just a couple of sessions, but did not feel overwhelmed at any stage - they know how to build a skill as well as confidence. MOD1 - passed on first attempt, even though I would still consider myself a newbie on a larger bike - Mark made sure i have gone through routine with comfort. You will know all the elements, layout, sequence of tasks and all the possible variations. then MOD2 training and the test - passed on first attempt, pretty much same approach- was referred to my weak points over and over again during the training. By the time the actual test came - i was familiar with the order of things, questions which would be asked, roads which i would be likely assessed on, caveats and tough spots in the area. there were no surprises therefore no unnecessary additional stress. So the journey back to St Albans from the test center in Uxbridge by legally riding on M25 on a bike was filled with joy and satisfaction. As i said - 20days it took from initial contact to having Pass Certificates in front of me, 6 Sessions in total (which included tests)- extremely efficient in my opinion. Thank you again to the whole ERT crew who made it happen. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. PS The only regret I have - I did not find ERT earlier.

Fantastic experience: I recommend this school to everyone, I took all the courses from them, it took me about 3 months to get a license, excellent instructors, good motorcycles, you can say that I started from zero because the last time I rode was 25 years ago.

Fantastic experience: The owner and his wife are very chill people, and the two instructors I worked with (Mark and Jamie) were awesome, they are very easy people to worm with. As an American some of the rules are different for the road but they do not insult you or down play your experience. They gage it and help you where you need it. Would recommend to anyone. I did the full training and both mod 1 and 2 tests, they booked it all and it was a seemless process for you are the trainee.

Fantastic experience: If you are considering getting on 2 wheels, then ERT all the way. I went from 0 experience on a manual motorcycle to passing my A license in 2 months. I managed to pass everything first time, from CBT > Theory > M1 > M2. What a great team at ERT they have, Ron & Liz, Jamie, Mark and all the other guys. Everything from the enthusiasm and knowledge of the roads, bikes and health and safety. Mark for my M1 and Jamie for my M2 both of which really had extensive experience and knowledge of motorcycling with many stories to tell. The whole experience was stress free and funny at times (Ron would recall CBT on a 60mph, just go straight > keep going straight... lol) I would highly recommend ERT for your motorcycle training needs, The ERT Team are all very welcoming and I'm sure like me many others will find them just as nice. Fantastic experience: Ronn, Lizzie and the instructors at Exceptional Rider Training have made the process of learning to ride an absolute joy! Teaching my Father and I from absolute novices through to passing our full licenses, we can whole heartedly recommend the bike school to any budding riders looking to receive thorough and enjoyable training! Feedback is received throughout the lessons, with the use of intercom system, walking away a more confident rider after every session! We feel that we have been trained to a high standard which will help to keep us safe in our biking careers. Thank you ERT!

Negative experience: My experience with ERT was really upsetting and left a sour taste. Firstly before I even attended, my booking was cancelled and rearranged - I was made to feel like I was the problem because due to working commitments, I am unable to do weekends. Nevertheless, I persevered as I had paid my payment. On the actual day, whilst I acknowledge the level of knowledge that Ron has, I was spoken to like I was a child on a number of occasions. As a pure novice, I did find it difficult to grasp - I understand the concept but putting it into practice was a whole other matter! I could see that Ron had no patience for me, often looking bored at the repetitive nature of training me. Graham, Ron’s counterpart, had patience and compassion in his training style and I can’t fault him. However the real problem lies in the company’s conduct after the CBT. Towards the end, I did take a fall from the bike and landed fairly hard on my shoulder. I suffered cuts, bruises & unbeknown to myself at the time, I had knocked my shoulder blade out of alignment which I have had to have physio for. Graham came running over and immediately checked to see if I was okay. Ron on the other hand was far more concerned about the bike and helmet I was wearing. After the initial CBT, I was told that I would receive a call to be booked on to another day to complete as I was unable to carry out on road assessment due to my struggles. I was not called, but simply sent an email with the booking, at a charge of £85 and a further charge of £40 for damage to the helmet. Nowhere in the terms & conditions, or the website does it say anything about clothing damage charges. The website also states (under FAQ) that if you don’t meet the requirements to get the CBT, you will be invited back free of charge… I found it appalling that no one in the ERT team could find 5 mins in their day to contact me and ask me if I was okay after my fall, but instead found the time to try and charge me for things that they had not communicated to me at the time of my booking. The lack of compassion, the attitude of Ron towards me and the money grabbing nature of my expierence left me with no option to cancel my second booking and look elsewhere. I would take this into consideration when looking at ERR for your CBT - if you are a complete novice like myself, then go somewhere else because this company has no time for you.

Fantastic experience: Had a fab time learning at ERT earlier this summer going from 0 experience to full licence with first time passes in a couple of months, with the team somehow managing to fit in sessions and get early tests sorted despite my unhelpful schedule! Fantastic experience: Had a great day at my CBT course today. The day is structured very well, covers a lot of very useful information but is taught in a relaxed and friendly style. Ron is great, friendly, very knowledgeable with zero arrogance and seems to have infinite patience with those like me who were a bit nervous. Graham was super helpful, calm and reassuring. You get plenty of practice before going out onto the road. Safety is at the forefront of everything they do and they will give you an honest appraisal of how well they think you are doing before riding on the road and if you are not quite ready yet they will chat with you and explain in a respectful and very helpful way. I can’t recommend these guys enough so if you are on the fence about giving them a try I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. You’ll have a great day! Cheers guys

Fantastic experience: I started and finished my journey through the progressive access license route with ERT. They have always been extremely helpful and friendly throughout the years, with knowledgable advice that fits every individuals skill level. From way back when I started with my CBT in spring 2017, to my A2 in 2019, and finally my full A in 2023, ERT have always had encouraging advice and tips to get me to a good riding standard for the tests. I'm Upgrading from my Honda CBR500R to a Yamaha FZ1 this weekend, and a large part of that is thanks to ERT's help with the test. I cannot recommend them enough!

Fantastic experience: I used ERT back in 2010 for a full week course to pass my A licence. It was a breeze with friendly high quality training. I sailed it. After a long break from riding (2023 now so the whole 13 years!), I booked the "Back to Biking" course. It was the same friendly high quality training I had received previously. My trainer, Mark, planned and executed a well thought out and full 4 hour session configured to my individual needs and abilities. Thanks Mark, Ronn, and everybody else involved.

Negative experience: I booked my cbt with ERT around decemeber time. It got cancelled due to poor weather. Then never heard anything back. I called and emailed multiples until march before I could take my Cbt. Teaching and everything was great

Fantastic experience: After getting my A license today, I have to say a massive thanks to the whole team at ERT! Everything was paced perfectly from the 500cc comfort to the module 2 test. Fantastic experience: It has taken me a long time to get my class A motorcycle licence. There is no way i could have done it without the help from everyone that is at ERT. I so nearly gave up at one point but due to the instruction from the team i was able to make it. I would recommend to anyone who is thinking about any type of motorcycle course offered by ERT to do it, you won`t regret it.

Fantastic experience: Great experience and journey with these guys from cbt to mod 2 test. 100% recommend to anyone wanting to learn to ride! Great quality bikes and clothing provided with expert tuition.

Fantastic experience: 4.5 stars rounded up to 5. They helped me upgrade my licence from an A2 to a full A, passed first time on both modules (but how I got away with some of the mistakes/minors I made I'll never know). I was referred to this company by my Enhance Rider Scheme instructor - Jamie (who is also an instructor here). The bikes used were well maintained Z650s. Their instructions are complete. I chose this company as the price was cheaper to the company I did my A2 with, and they don't push you for more training than you need. They also offered flexibility (no consecutive 3-4 DAS course) with saturday bookings. Ron has built an excellent team, and has a nice range of bikes. Lizzie was always clear and conscice on the phone and helpful in explaining how things will work, and taking me through the booking process. Jamie took me through mod 1 training and test, along with mod 2. Great chap very knowledgeable, can make you laugh anyday. Steve took us down country routes on the way to the test area, spent an hour riding around the area (the main route he showed us happened to be the exact one of my test) he pointed out signs hidden behind foliage and speed limits. Throughout the day provided complementary advice and (different) feedback on the riding. On the ride back we got to go on the motorway (not scenic). I've (unfairly) deducted 0.5 stars as the mod 1 training happens on a no entry road (very low traffic road) as opposed to a private ground (it was unexpected as my previous A2 training carried out training in their CBT grounds - large car park. This wasn't explained - but then again I never asked. The cones are spaced out correctly, mod 1 is simply practiced in sections (due to space restrictions). I guess I can't complain(especially as it keeps the costs down, and it turns out this style of training is more common)? Overall highly recommend if you're looking for great trainers, bikes and flexibility with booking training.

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend Ronn and the guys at ERT enough. Having decided to take up riding a motorcycle in my late forties (I know what it sounds like ) I didn't expect it to be easy - and it wasn't - but it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience with ERT from day 1 CBT through to Mod 2 A licence pass today. Their ethos is all based around teaching you to ride safely for life and not just enough to get you through the test. The team are open and friendly and full of good advice around the whole motorcycling arena. The bikes and kit they loan you is all top notch and well cared for and is all part of their high standards. Can't wait to buy a bike now and put the skills they taught me to good use - many thanks Ronn.

Also they are very well equipped with helmets, gloves etc and new Kawasaki Z650's to learn on. Ronn and Lisa where both very nice and clearly love what they do and get to know their customers. Fantastic experience: I wasn't sure at all whether it was realistic to get from no experience on a motorbike to A licence, via DAS, in such a short period of time. I had been on a 50cc moped twice and hadn't even really changed gears on a motor bike yet was doing my Mod 1 within 3 (half) days! Mod 2 is a completely different challenge, and one which practice and comfort is (obviously) essential. I needed an extra comfort lesson to really break through from minimal experience to a very high level of confidence. A few key things here. Steve is manically obsessed with safety. Ronn's comfort session was a game changer. The key thing for me was that Ronn asked questions to determine what kind of learner I was. I was proactive in asking questions that helped me understand. Ronn provided answers that worked for me but also put that into practice on our road session. A game changer for me. Mark is an excellent teacher and a voice of calm, patience and confidence. I didn't have Jamie as an instructor but overhead enough of this briefing of others that I also learned a lot just by listening. Lizzy was great in the 'back office' keeping us all organised and motivated. Intense, professional, dedicated, organised, accommodating, passionate and superb experience from a great school. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: ERT Exceptional Rider Training certainly live up to their name. A friend and I have been looking to get our full licence for years but having full time jobs we didn't have the time to book 5 days off work, laying out £1000+ in one go and be pressurised to pass. So when we discovered ERTs book-as-you-go policy, where we can book lessons in our own time when they suited us, it was a no brainer. Ron and his team of friendly and expert instructors took us from CBT to full A2 bike licence in a matter of weeks, the majority of which was taught at weekends. Their comfort 500 and 650 rides were a great way to get familiar with the bigger engines that you need to take the Mod 1 & Mod 2 tests. Likewise their 4 hour Mod 1 and Mod 2 practice lessons are the best way to get you familiar with the bikes and the manoeuvres. Whilst one lesson was enough for each, the great benefit about ERT is that you can always book an additional lesson if you need to prior to the test. When you are ready for your test, Ron and his lovely wife will book you in and sort it all for you. They also had the added benefit of offering you cancellations as and when they come up.The instructors who take you down on the test day, make you feel at ease and relaxed, allowing you to get on and pass. I really enjoyed the experience with ERT and I passed when I was ready to. Couldn't thank or recommend Ron and the team enough. You have helped me fulfill a life long ambition and it was fitting I passed my test on July 4th, independance day!

He was with me through Mod 1 & 2 and I cannot stress enough how exceptional his attitude, riding skill, patience or teaching ability is. Had a great time with ERT. The entire team is full of knowledge and have a general passion about motorbikes. It could not be a more friendlier environment even if they tried. I would definitely recommend them to anyone of any skill level.

Fantastic experience: I completed my Mod1 and Mod2 with ERT and couldn't be happier. Even though they were 45 minutes drive to where I live, it was worth driving up and down to take courses. I trained with 3 different instructors (Mark, Jamie and Ron) and they were all excellent! Especially Mark's great tips on changing body weight on turns was super useful. I did a 500 comfort ride followed by a 600 comfort ride and two days of preparations (mod1+mod2). I passed Mod1 with 1 minor and Mod2 with 4 minors at first try thanks to the great training I got at ERT. I must also say that the team is very respectful and encouraging to women riders which is a relief after my bad experience during CBT training at another training centre. I totally recommend ERT!

Fantastic experience: Today I completed, (for the first time ever) my cbt! I spoke to the lovely Lizzie on the phone, she was clear, concise and wasted no time in getting me booked on a manual cbt. There was no hesitation in regards to previous experience or the desire to do a manual cbt. My instructor for the day was Joe, whom was very structured and professional with his teaching methods. Not to mention his ongoing encouragement and positivity throughout the day. A very well organised school, professional and with great communication - a genuine pleasure to have taken my day course/cbt with you. ️

Fantastic experience: Efficient. Friendly. Outstanding. I did my CBT back in December 2021 and straight away decided I wanted to do my licence with ERT. I got in touch with Ron and he set up all of my training and tests for April and now after just 4 weeks I have my A2 license. I am so pleased. Ron, Lisa, Steve, Mark, Jamie & Joe are all great instructors and kept me motivated and confident throughout the whole process. If your looking for quality training I advise you give ERT a call. Fantastic experience: I used ERT in 2021 and completed my CBT all the way through to my Full License with them. Ron & Lizzy organised everything for me and made the whole process a joy. Every instructor they had was professional, extremely knowledgeable and calm. I spent time with both Steve and Mark for most of my training and they were brilliant! Ron always has test slots ordered, so if you fail a test you don't have to wait long to have another go. In my case I failed my first MOD 2 (completely my fault!) but I only had to wait the minimum legal time before having another go and this was great for me as i didn't lose momentum. Passed second time and have been an extremely happy motorcyclist since! Thank you to all at ERT - the process was fabulous and I will recommend you to anyone looking to learn. Negative experience: Higher price than most others but definitely NOT worth it. Ron aka “Uncle Albert” (the chap that runs it) charges for 4 hour lessons and talks about his personal life for most of the 4 hours. When he does get to the training it’s not bad but I’d rather just pay for half an hour of training and get it than pay for 4 hours and be bored out of my mind nodding along politely. The old man doesn’t know when to shut up and won’t stop talking about every little thing he’s achieved (emphasis on “little”). On a positive note, he is polite and clearly means well but is just painfully slow, too chatty and ALWAYS running late. A handful of lessons and I had to go elsewhere (instructors at Welwyn were very good - different school). I feel bad writing this because I know he’s not a bad person but perhaps time to retire and play with his grandkids…..just saying.

Fantastic experience: When I arrived at ERT in early Feb ’22, I’d just bought a 125, but had next to no experience of bikes. I was regularly stalling my bike and was surprised at how difficult a geared bike was proving. Fast forward 6 weeks and seven visits and I’ve passed my full 'A' licence and developed my skills and confidence. I wasn’t sure that I wanted anything other than a 125 licence, but on the advice of my friends and the teachers at ERT I decided on the full licence on a 650cc bike. The idea felt a bit intimidating at first, but ERT started me off with a 125 ‘comfort’ lesson, a 500 ‘comfort’ before moving to the 650. I got used to the extra weight of the bikes with these measured steps, and was helped by the fact that I was given the same 650 bike (Kawasaki Z650) for each lesson and test. It had a nice low seat, which was fine for planting my feet flat on the floor, which helped my confidence. The teaching was attentive and helpful. My errors were explained each time, and the fact that they were accurately picked up meant that I could practice between lessons on my own bike. I passed my two tests on the first attempt and simply couldn’t have done it so quickly alone. At the test centres, quite a few people seemed to be failing either Mod 1 or Mod 2, so I was a bit nervous, but it’s really important to go to a quality school like ERT to get the right help and develop good habits which will stand you in good stead for the tests and for riding safely once you’ve passed. A big thanks to Ronn the owner and to Mark, Stephen and Jamie the other teachers. Each one of them were really helpful and kind in gently helping me up to the required level. Just before the tests Jamie helped me practice and coached me on what was about to happen in each test. It was invaluable. For example, the show and tell questions in the Mod 2 test were at the front of mind when the exact questions came up. I felt well prepared. I had been nervous and was very aware of lots of little errors in my ride over to the test centre, but the teacher’s advice didn’t pick me apart, just focussed on the main couple of things to look out for and boosted my confidence before each test. You don’t have to be perfect in the test… just safe. Thanks ERT… I have no hesitation in recommending the school. The teaching is wise and very experienced. I didn’t always think that I was cut out for biking, but I’m now in a completely different place and have a full 'A' licence after just 6 weeks. I don’t have to limit myself to 125cc bikes and am qualified and confident to buy and ride bigger bikes. I'm not just qualified, I feel qualified too. 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely new into biking, never been on a bike apart from just over 4 hours CBT, unfortunately at a different school, But once we got to ERT with Ron & Co, they made it possible for 3 of us to have our full Motorcycle licence with only 5 training days including test days. Fantastic experience: I've just completed my CBT, Mod 1 and Mod 2 training with ERT Exceptional Rider Training and the experience from day 1 was nothing short of outstanding! A unique, personal riding school set in the heart of St Albans, Ronn and his team are a fantastic bunch that helped me whiz through all of my training as quickly and most importantly, as SAFELY as possible. New to the St Albans area, with limited scooter experience and zero on motorcycles, I had no idea which training school to choose when signing up for my training. I did as anyone would and jumped straight onto Google as a starting point - I'm glad to say that all of the reviews here are spot on! I had such a blast with my training and everything ran like clockwork. Sessions were easy to book, payments were hassle free and they even had pre-booked slots for the Mod 1 and Mod 2 tests! I was expecting to wait several months, but none of that here. It goes without saying that I'm really pleased with my choice and I would absolutely recommend this school as a brilliant place to learn how to ride a motorcycle and obtain a license. I passed my CBT, Mod 1 and Mod 2 all on first attempts and I put this down to the hard work and preparation from Ron, Mark, Steve and Co. Big up chaps, it's been a pleasure! Fantastic experience: Exceptional communication and organisation Exceptional trainers who tell you everything that you need to know No matter what school you train with, you have to have the right attitude and apply everything that they teach you on the bike which includes the ability to do slow manoeuvres, which in my opinion, are the most challenging Practice really makes perfect and this is the biggest challenge with the Mod 1 and Mod 2 because you can only practice with a qualified trainer on a 600cc - so it can get expensive and I would always say the more you practice, the easier it will be but also the more expensive it will get! They don't spoon feed or provide any shortcuts, they tell you and show you what you have to do in order to pass your Mod 1 and Mod 2 Did my CBT in July 2021, and then passed my Mod 2 by mid September 2021 I would strongly recommend this motorcycle training school

Fantastic experience: I have just passed my mod 2 with ERT. I highly recommend them for anyone wanting to learn to ride. I wasn’t confident on a bike at all to begin with and feel the training was brilliant, it gave me confidence and the feeling of safety on a bike. The staff are all really friendly and professional too. ERT was also recommended to me by an ex police MB instructor who knows a ton of instructors in the area and strongly believes ERT are the best.
