Negative experience: Scammers I arrived 6 min late after travelling an hour to get there! I got stuck behind a tractor and was told I couldn’t do the test because they had started they must of not Evan out there name on the register was rude on the phone and have blocked me, will not refund me Evan tho in the email i got with the information about what Time n stuff didn’t mention once about not being able to not do the test if your late or nothing! £175 couldn’t wait to cancel me this could of been someone’s teenager who’s mums struggled to pay for this or like me someone who worked hard to get the money Peter Rutter & mark the man’s name is! Do not use this company

Fantastic experience: Completed CBT, MOD1 & MOD2 with Phoenix Colchester. Rob was absolutely superb! So calm, patient and knowledgeable. A really nice fella with a great sense of humour. Although didn’t have Scott I’ve been told by many that he is also an awesome trainer and I can vouch that he makes a lovely cup of coffee . All that’s left to do now is go out and buy and Indian scout! Slap a George best sticker on it and ride off into the sunset with AC/DC as my soundtrack. Rob will know what I mean lol! Fantastic experience: Was fantastic, so happy with the service I received. I did two days for my CBT with Rob at Phoenix Colchester ( great, very polite, and encouraging) I did two days as I didn't feel comfortable going out on the road on a bike the first day as I had never riding a bike before other than a bicycle. Will definitely be going back for my next lot of training ( that's if Rob can put up with me again )

Negative experience: Held back due to another learner not being ready to go on road and very poor planning from instructors. I am certain I was not held back due to any mistakes on my part (other than small ones) as I was finishing each section of training well before others and instructors were repeatedly expressing they were very happy with how I was doing - being told I was doing incredibly well “absorbing everything like a sponge” etc, I completely understand that they are supposed to be endearing and supportive but I am without a doubt all comments made were genuine. We were told I was unable to go on the road as there were not enough qualified instructors to take just one of us on the road as they had “lent one to another training centre”. Which is absolutely ridiculous considering I paid £150 and we spent an entire day training just to be told at the end I had to pay full price again and do the entire thing all over. Up until the end I was very happy with the training and felt I was gaining lots of useful skill and control but ultimately all of that was undone by their final actions. Has put me off wanting to ride for a good while

Fantastic experience: Great day learning with Phoenix Colchester for my CBT certificate yesterday. Martin my instructor, was patient and comprehensive with his knowledge and handled my varied range of emotions throughout the day and I’d happily recommend Phoenix Motorcycle Colchester to anyone interested in doing their CBT. Fantastic experience: Have had 2 CBTs with this company and I couldn't ask for better. Very accommodating, very understanding and patient. They explain everything and there's no silly questions. As a shorter rider, I was heard and they did everything they could to help.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing time doing my CBT with the guys at Phoenix Colchester. Lots of humour and laughs while teaching you the serious and safety aspects of riding a motorcycle. Fantastic experience: I recently did my CBT here and have nothing but positive things to say about the team. Scott’s a legend and made me laugh so much which was great as I was nervous since I had never rode before. Rob is just as much of a legend who also made me feel at ease and took time to focus on things I was doing wrong throughout the day without getting frustrated. I’m so new to it all BUT I’ll be going back for some more lessons in the future. Good luck when we move on to the bigger bikes gents! (also yes I’ve got so proper riding trousers now).

Fantastic experience: I’m not a big one for reviews but I really just wanted to give my CBT instructor Scott a shout out. He genuinely cares and is passionate about what he does. He makes the day a laugh and enjoyable whilst comprehensively teaching you everything you need to know to give you the first taste of the road on two wheels. He’s an absolute credit to Phoenix and I’d recommend the company to anyone thinking about taking their CBT purely down to the great experience I had with Scott. Can’t wait to be back in January for training for my Mod 1 test .

Fantastic experience: Took my Mod 2 training and test here after having completed my Mod 1 elsewhere before moving here. Passed first time and absolutely buzzing. Major positives: All the instructors have loads of years under their belt. All easy to get on with and keen that they try share their experience with you. You get plenty of time on the bike on your training day. After I passed didn't try and push loads of course on me, just recommended I get comfortable riding first, gave lots of advice, genuinely seemed like they were there to help you, not just sell a service. Can't recommend the team here higher. I had Rob for my practice day, was really helpful throughout, picked up on little things that I was getting wrong and helped simplify them so I could sort it out. Really easy going and made the whole day a great day out on the bike. Took me around the test area to get used to some of the more tricky areas that could come up on the test and meant come the real thing I was really comfortable. On the test day I had Paul take me to Ipswich for the test and give me a bit of coaching and tips on the way. Again such a nice guy, really put me at ease before the test and meant I wasn't nervous at all and could just ride naturally. Kept it simple, but had loads of knowledge to impart. Also should say that testing in Ipswich is good, although some parts can be tricky the examiners are incredibly nice, and again made me feel at ease before even getting on the bike. Felt like I was just going for a ride. Will be coming back some time in the future for further training!

Fantastic experience: Just done my CBT with Scott at Phoenix and what a great instructor he is ! It's been about 35 years since I rode on the road and although I have 30 years of mx experience I learnt an awful lot about riding back on the road! Scot was informative and patience and explained everything brilliantly! Will be back for my DAS as soon as I can!

Fantastic experience: Today, I completed my full motorcycle license training and obtained my license with Phoenix and I must say, it was an absolute blast! From CBT to Mod 1 and Mod 2, their team of instructors truly know how to make the learning experience enjoyable. First up, Rob was my CBT instructor and he was absolutely fantastic. He has a way of making you feel at ease and confident on the bike. Plus, his teaching skills are top-notch! Then came Paul for my Module 1 training. This guy is a walking encyclopedia of motorcycle knowledge. With his vast experience and numerous qualifications, you can trust that he'll drill everything you need to know into your brain. Tough love! And let's not forget Scott, my Mod 2 instructor. At first glance, he may seem like a tough guy, but trust me, he's got big heart (and beard). His calm and humorous approach to teaching really made the whole process enjoyable. Plus, he's an absolute tank on a motorcycle! Last but certainly not least, Peter, the man behind the scenes. He's the one who makes everything happen smoothly. His swift communication and ability to secure tests and bookings in such a short space of time is amazing. A great guy! Overall, the combination of their wealth of knowledge, experience, and banter made the whole process with Phoenix worth it. If you're looking to get your motorcycle license, I highly recommend them. You'll have a great time while learning from the best! Note: no blue cones were harmed in the making of this review

Fantastic experience: 3 odd years ago I did a CBT course with Phoenix, giving me all the skills to be able to stay safe and have the confidence with a 125cc on the road. last month coming back to phoenix for another CBT with the same level of experience of my first, quickly booking in for my mod 1 test and training. I was very impressed with the patience, skill and experience that the instructors have and are able to pass on to students, passing the mod 1 first time with 0 minors, leaving me excited to get booked in for the mod 2. We rode down to Ipswich to do training for the mod 2 and going round some of the trickier areas that could possibly come up on the test, I was given the skill set to be able to ride around not just Ipswich but any new road safely and confidently, passing the mod 2 first time the enthusiasm and excitement was match to my own from all the instructors including when I passed the mod 1. A massive thank you to everyone at Phoenix, to anyone thinking of using Phoenix I would highly recommend you too

Fantastic experience: Did a CBT day course with Scott and was blown away by the quality of teaching, went in worried I wouldn't finish the day and left fully confident in my ability to continue riding. 10/10 would recommend to anyone interested in trying it out, I went on a 125cc manual bike and was led through step by step for everything I'd need to ride around public roads legally and safely. Fantastic experience: Did my CBT here last week and it was fantastic. Even in the pouring rain and cold weather I really really enjoyed it. I booked through email with Peter and had Rob for training. Peter was very helpful and efficient over email, and Rob was an excellent trainer - very enthusiastic, a great sense of humour and very knowledgeable. He also makes an awesome cup of coffee which was a saviour in the cold. Would absolutely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Had a great day with Paul today who I met after attending the firebike better biking course. Usual assessment rides around some nice lanes. Unusually we even went over some basic machine skills - it's been many years since somebody put two cones out and said now do a figure of eight - there's two lines, now do a u turn between them. Plenty of useful discussion/debriefs. Good day - recommended. Thank you. About me. I'm over 50 year's old, been riding 30 plus years, and I still learnt something.

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent day on the Advanced Instructor course with Paul. My day started out with (quite) a few errors. Paul was very patient when explaining where I went wrong and how I could improve. Which was then confirmed, as by the end the day, my riding and understanding of certain situations had definitely improved. Definitely a worthwhile (and sometimes humbling) day out riding, with plenty to take away to help make me a safer rider.

Fantastic experience: I have recently completed my compulsory basic training (CBT) and Mod 1 and 2 training and tests with Phoenix Motorcycle Training Colchester. Across these five days, I had the privilege of being instructed and supervised by Scott, Rob, and Paul. All are experienced riders and fantastic instructors with personable approaches to their work. They all created a relaxed, light-hearted learning environment that helped alleviate the pressure I (and I am sure many others) put myself under, helping me to pass first time on all counts. I didn’t get to meet Peter but he did organise my training and tests over the phone and email. Again, very polite and professional throughout. I would certainly recommend Phoenix Motorcycle Training Colchester, and a huge thank you to the team.

Fantastic experience: Had the privilege of doing my direct access with the team at phoenix and what a journey it was. Having never sat on a bike apart from my CBT, Phoenix took my hand and guided me through large bike conversion all the way to getting my full license. Firstly lets start with the boss man Peter, really accommodating and genuine when you speak with him. Not remotely pushy and very forthcoming. I had lessons with two different instructors in prep for my mod 1 & mod 2. I had 1:1 & mod 2 training sessions with Paul - he has an incredible eye to detail and adjusts as you do. Able to spot mistakes you know your making and help you adjust them as your riding and getting you ready, top bloke and a proper laugh as well very human interaction. I also had the privilege of being taught by Scott for a road ride and my Mod 1 training in the same session, absolute character again great personality, banter and a real human experience. Superb eye for detail and like Paul you can clearly see that these guys love and care about what they do. Also a shout out to Rob did not have the luxury of being taught by this instructor but did have a chat with him during sessions and passing, great personality & I do not doubt he is also a huge credit to the team. Would happily go see the guys just to say hi and show off my first bike once I've got it and the relationship around the guys are like family its great. If your looking for a school in Colchester and just umming and ahhing, I can not recommend the team at Phoenix enough. Take the plunge, ride safe, and see you all out there.

Fantastic experience: I attended a big bike lesson today with Paul and left so pleased. I'm a female on the short side and they had a lowered 650cc bike that rode amazingly, within minutes Paul had my confidence 100 times more than when I'd arrived and had me completing multiple tasks on the bike that to be honest when I arrived I didn't think I'd be able to achieve. Paul was completely processional and explained any errors in a brilliant way without making me feel stupid and also explaining how to correct them. I've left today on a high and am truly greatful to have found this lovely team. I'd definitely recommend them if your lacking confidence. The whole fleet of bikes looked well cared for.

Fantastic experience: I had my CBT today with Scott and this Australian fella couldn’t have asked for better trainers , if I could re do my CBT just for the fun of it I generally would , two passionate riders teaching newcomers how to ride safely and also teaching the rider how to enjoy the road. If you can get to Colchester and want to learn to ride it’s a no brainer really.

Positive experience: I’m happy to say I did the Advanced one day with Paul, a very articulate and knowledgeable guy. I would recommend to anyone with the inclination to advance their riding skills and knowledge to book a three or five day, Ito e well worth the money.

Fantastic experience: Scott was a gem all day. Making us both feel very welcomed and comfortable. His instruction was clear and if we didn't get it straight away he took his time and didn't get annoyed or frustrated with us. Will be coming back to do my full licence once I have had more experience on my 125. Their wait list may be longer than some in Colchester but trust me the teaching level is worth the wait. You can tell its a passion and not just a job.

Fantastic experience: Highly commended - superb training from Scott who brought back the essential roadcraft and more importantly, the confidence to be back on a bike after 17 years out of the saddle. Thoroughly enjoyed the day, the chat and returning home with a real buzz to be back on 2 wheels again, even with experiencing four seasons in one day out of the road. Cheers Scott, I promise to not to bring the name of Phoenix into disrepute again by short-cutting mini-roundabouts - my two-finger braking might take a while to shake off though ;) Whatever level of tuition you need, don’t look further than these guys.

Fantastic experience: With no motorbike experience, I managed to pass cbt, mod 1 + 2 including training and test, with phoenix, first time. This all comes down to a certain instructor named Scott. Scott is a very kind, funny and intelligent motorcycle instructor, and I highly recommend booking with him as your instructor.

Fantastic experience: I had my CBT training with Phonix motorcycle training centre and had Scott as trainer. He was a characteristic person I liked very much. I enjoyed the day on the training, he spent a lot of time with me and other guy on bike at training centre as well as on the road. His telling me off even when I was wrong on some of the manoeuvres was funny! He is a brilliant guy to be trained. So for this reason SCOTT you deserve 10/10 from me mate. I wish him a best Christmas ever. I definitely would take my big motorcycle training with this company if I had this guy as a trainer.

Fantastic experience: I booked onto my CBT for last Sunday and having never been on a geared bike I was rather apprehensive, however Scott the instructor was brilliant, he put me at ease and kept my nerves at bay. Negative experience: When you pay for CBT you expect full training. I accept my son was not ready to pass but they could have let him practise till the end if the day. Instead they stopped when they were meant to go on the road. Also, they could have observed my son better and pinpoint the problems and find solutions. They failed 3 out of 4 that day. I'd say its above average fail rate.
