1st Class Motorcycle Training

Fantastic experience: I recently attended a direct access course and i passed both my mod 1 and mod 2 first time, having ridden smaller bikes and cars for many many years i had picked up a few bad habits to say the least. With their brilliant way of training/teaching i was able shake most of the bad habits off. Great bunch of instructors which use a unique and freindly way of teaching that made it enjoyable, me feel comfortable and increased my confidence.. thankyou guys!! Overjoyed at my pass although slightly saddened since i wont be returning and wont get chance to join in on the freindly banter anytime soon, all the best guys, thanks again, josh (aka hotwheels)

Fantastic experience: Awesome day thanks to the team there! Knowledgeable and fun bunch that are comforting for beginners and great for a renewal. Special thanks to Ryan in particular as I managed to pick a quiet day giving me a 1 to 1 and he couldn't have been better! Patient with me, funny and all around great guy. I'll be sure to be back for my big test at some point as now I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else for a test. Again Ryan's an awesome guy!

Negative experience: Do not use this company first off there not nice people make you feel uncomfortable they told me I didn’t pass or fail and I need to come back for more training which I need to pay 70£ an hour for 2 hours I went to another cbt test somewhere els with the same skill and knowledge and passed straight away just shows they just want as much money they can get out of you

Positive experience: It was a random sunny day a few months ago when I decided to dive in and attempt to gain my A license. I found this training centre online and after a few clicks I was booked on my CBT. This went well and thanks to the instructor (a local historian that added to the experience) I passed the first stage and familiarisation. Now to move on.... I was unsure of how long it would take to leap from the CBT to A license. Time is short and winter is fast approaching (aware of it not being the best time of year to start this journey). I booked the 3 day fast track and dove in. Here's where the calm patience and experience of the staff was apparent. They dealt with my inexperienced approach and lack of time on a bike with ease. They had their work cutout for 2 days (not forgetting the CBT day) but despite this they were all supportive and pushed me on. Test day came around fast on the 3rd day and with this the out of my comfort zone nerves popped up for rare visit. The instructor input and training enabled me to walk away with the pass certificates. If the truth be known I wouldn't have minded another day or 2 of experience and time with the team. I guess the only thing to advise is have a good breakfast, stay hydrated and take a packed lunch (oh and all your documents) ☺️ Many thanks

Fantastic experience: I had a CBT training with Ryan. He is a great instructor. He is very nice, chill and funny. Apart from explaining everything you need to know about road craft, he also shared good tips and advices. It’s a very chill and pleasant place for learning. I really recommend 1st class motorcycle training.

Fantastic experience: Kev was quick to put my nerves away, having only ever ridden pillion and drove a car before. He gave me tips throughout the CBT to improve my riding, and my confidence has grown so much as a result. Highly recommend, will be using again for either my renewal or testing. I do recommend bringing some masking or washi / low-tack tape to keep the earphones in your ears, if you're not used to having wired earphones under your helmet, just to keep them in place x

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend 1st Class Motorcycle training, whether you are just starting out or doing your A licence they have a course for everyone. The bikes are top quality and are very well maintained. I recently completed a direct access course with them resulting in me getting my full licence. I can genuinely say I thoroughly enjoyed it, even in the moments I was frustrated with myself (the U turn was my nemesis). They were very patient and helped me through every step, leading to a perfect pass on my module 1 test! Fantastic experience: I had a great time doing my CBT with Ryan from 1st Class Motorcycle Training. All the instructors are very welcoming, light-hearted, and funny. This was my first time ever using a motorbike, and Ryan was extremely patient. His banter and light hearted approach to teaching made the day go by quick (too quick for me! I thoroughly enjoyed myself). Arrive with the correct kit, a smile, and a positive attitude and the day will fly by. The bikes are new, clean and clearly looked after.

Later, I booked a 5-day DAS course in August, during which I passed both Mod 1 and Mod 2. I wouldn't have stood a chance of passing without the fantastic instructors. They are very patient, down-to-earth, and make you feel totally at ease."

Fantastic experience: Best choice you will make, the guys here are all amazing, they know what they are talking about and will make you feel at home on a bike, had prior experience but not on road bikes and it was the the most fun I've had learning anything, they pay attention to you and let you know where your going wrong, but make it enjoyable, any worries you have won't be worries after, would recommend to anyone, really really good bunch of knowledgeable blokes, and funny too! Fantastic experience: Had to retake expired CBT after 20yr absence from the road. Dwayne was amazing, really nice chap, funny, down to earth and total expert. All seem nice guys, can't recommend enough!

Fantastic experience: I have done my CBT, A2 and A license first time with these guys. Couldn’t recommend them enough, great advice and training, very nice and latest models of KTMs and you can have a good laugh with them, making you at ease. Definitely live up to their name.

Fantastic experience: Recently took and passed the 3 day Direct access to full license course. Couldn’t recommend 1st class any higher. Kev and Darren are excellent instructors and the whole team are friendly and patient. Top quality bikes to use and a facility set up exactly the same as the test centre, making your test feel very familiar.

Fantastic experience: I had Ryan as my instructor. Not only did he make the experience a lot more enjoyable with his upbeat and comedic personality, but was very thorough with everything he had taught us. Making sure that safety was the key focus of the session. I personally have no reason to go to another bike test centre when these guys are around *Review update* Following on from my review last month after passing my CBT with 1st class motorcycle training. I am happy to say I have just passed my 3 day DAS course with them as well. The instructors, Kev and Darren didn't leave any stone unturned. They not only wanted us to pass our mod 1 and 2 but also ensure that will be safe riders after leaving the test centre. Their ability to adjust and change teaching approaches with different students is impressive. For example I was confident but needed to be reigned in where as the other guy on the course needed reassurance. We both left the test centre at the end of the course having passed and over the moon with the experience of 1st classes course. As always, I will recommend this company to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic team of trainers, who really know their stuff! They came highly recommended to me, by friends, and I would highly recommend them to anybody else! I went from never riding a bike on the road, to obtaining my full category A licence within the space of 7 weeks. I did my CBT with Darren at the beginning of March. And then successfully completed my DAS training, across 4 days at the end of April, with both Dan and Kevin as instructors. Massive thank you to all the team at 1st Class Motorcycle Training. Fantastic experience: Passed my full A licence with 1st class. Great bunch of guys, no time wasted. I was going to do my A2, but they convinced me to do the full A license, and I'm glad they did. Very patient with me until I got a grip of what needed to be done. I'd highly recommend them. Good bikes too. I passed on a KTM 790. Couldn't be happier. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: As someone who had never been on a geared bike with just over two years experience on a 125 scooter, I booked a 5-day DAS course with 1st Class Motorcycle. I started my first day on a 125 geared bike to get used to the controls and was moved onto a 390 on my second day. My third day started on a 790 as my training progressed. With 1st Class Motorcycle, you will have loads of both mod 1 and 2 practice sessions with exceptional Instructors who will make you feel welcome, for them, it is like sharing a piece of their passion with you which makes it even more exciting, yet very professional. Although I did not pass my mod 1 exam in the first attempt, I succeeded in my second attempt and passed mod 2 the first time. Never been on a geared bike before my first day at the training centre, I now hold an A licence which permits me to ride any engine motorcycle I want. I cannot thank the Instructors enough at 1st Class Motorcycle Training for helping me get rid of the L sticker on my scooter and now looking forward to purchasing my first proper motorcycle.

Fantastic experience: The guys at 1st class are absolute legends… I’ve passed two CBT’s and my DAS first time with no real riding experience with these guys! They make the experience enjoyable and treat you like normal people, make you feel relaxed and encouraged throughout. Lots of critical feedback during the course which enables improvement. They will push you but you will learn 100% … people who have written 1star negative reviews regarding 1st class are either fake or they’re just snowflakes. Thanks again Dwayne, Darren, Dan and Kev!

Fantastic experience: I've always wanted to do my DAS but nerves always got in my way. I decided to do a couple off hour sessions on a bigger bike before my DAS course, which really helped. The instructors calm and clear instructions along with their encouraging comment's put me at ease, so much so that I got a first time pass on both parts of the test . Thank you Kev, Darren and Dan. The instructors are all very friendly and welcoming with a great sense of humour! I would highly recommend this company for all your learning needs in regards to riding.

Fantastic experience: Completed my CBT today with Ryan. At one point I was totally convinced I wasn’t going to leave the car park, and was going to park the beautiful KTM in a hedge at one point. Ryan was able to provide me with patience and advice and I throughly enjoyed the day. I am planning to return to 1st Class asap and top up on the brilliant and constructive feedback from Ryan. As a group of four we were supported at all times, and supported in learning our new skills. As someone who has driven for over 15 years I had and have lots to learn. Thank you Ryan for you help and support, and I will be in contact soon to master that damn clutch lever! Please note: these KTM 125 machines (according to my research) and very powerful/top end machines. This is NOT a criticism on a school that has paid the money for quality kit, but please note for me PERSONALLY was a huge leap (15 years in the road, no accidents) please remember the clutch as you know it is gone!

Negative experience: Did my CBT with them and they were awful. They drive very unsafely (instructors) and will try and make a claim ANY WAY possible. Even if they were at fault with zero contact. I have read your response and still have my certificate from 2016 :) I did it on a moped. There was a slim guy and bigger guy and a woman who works in the office. I did it alongside a man doing his in the motorbike. I’m happy to send through photos and my certificate as proof. Just because it’s not a good review doesn’t mean it’s a fake one sir.

Fantastic experience: I did my CBT with 1st class motorcycle and the experience was extremely fun and enjoyable without sacrificing the seriousness of the course. Ryan gave me maximum time on the bike to ensure I felt comfortable on a geared bike and even went over the allocated time as he was enjoying himself so much. I am going back to do my full licence and would recommend the company to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with 1stCMT. The team are really knowledgeable and approachable which made asking questions easy. I did 1 class before my CBT which was very helpful to get used to the bike. On the day of the CBT The team explained everything in really good detail and were very patient with everyone taking the course. Generally it was clear that they love their jobs and it showed throughout the course. They genuinely want every rider to become stronger and safer riders while having fun. I would definitely recommend that others chose 1st CMT to do their CBT.

Negative experience: Spent a lot of money on courses to sit in bus stops whilst the staff smoke cigarettes which was really disappointing, it’s also not great when you observe the staff being generally unfriendly towards learners. I would suggest using another Plymouth provider.

Fantastic experience: I have done a cbt and a handful of 1 to 1s with the school. They are all great teachers, very friendly and patient; especially considering I am quite a nervous rider and slower learner which could easily frustrate a teacher. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend this place enough. Went for lessons and CBT with my son. Everyone is so friendly, really made me feel comfortable being a complete novice and a forty something year old woman. They are super hot on all aspects of safety too, which put my mind at ease for my son being let out on the roads by himself.

Fantastic experience: I did a 4 day DAS with these guys, passed both mod 1 & 2 on the first try and I'm really pleased that I have a full category A on my licence. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Answered any questions professionally with drawn examples in some cases, explain where you went wrong and how to correct and have some entertaining knowledge of the routes used.

Fantastic experience: Booked a 4 day training course with these guys and passed first time on the 5th may. This was after a very bad experience with another training school. Darren and Kev immediately made me feel comfortable & less anxious, had such a fun time learning, they are both amazing trainers, and definitely got me through my MOD1 & 2...Their knowledge is brilliant. Fantastic experience: Did my cbt Sunday 1st May, was very nervous had never properly riden a bike before, brian/Nathan our instructor was great, like another review said funny where appropriate but very serious and clear with his instructions. Somebody that obviously cares who's on the road and for your personal safety. Great teacher! I was very nervous again, but listened as best I could, did my research and passed first time!! Highly recommended don't be persuaded by cheaper imitations. If these guys fail you, you just probably need more practice for your own safety and others .

Fantastic experience: Would 100% Recommend, passed first time for my full license with CBT + 5 days of DAS despite the fact that never rode a two wheeler before. Instructors are very good at what they do! Great and friendly atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Great set of instructors, who have a wealth of knowledge on motorcycling and all that's needed for you to pass. I took my CBT with them and passed my Category A on the DAS course 3 weeks later. The KTM bikes they use are well maintained and a joy to ride.

Negative experience: *edit* You could have replied with an apology about upsetting people and explained that learning a new skill is stressful and you'd work on your manner...instead you denied that you've upset countless people. If this isn't proof of deceitfulness...I don't know what is. I've had to come back and update my review, the quality of training has been decimated since the past couple of years when I had my good experience. I regret recommending this place to a good friend now, she left in TEARS. She was belittled, pressured and bullied, there's no other way to say it. Their motto seems to have changed to "get through as many cbts as possible, as fast as possible" and have since put off many new riders from ever trying again. All she wanted was to learn on a bike with gears....and you wouldn't give her the time or patience, you inisited despite her wants and needs that she "just get through on a scooter" because you were too lazy to help and teach. You made her feel stupid and I've since been told this is the norm for "1st class". I'm so disappointed. If you want to be treated like a human...go talk to Matt at surepass.

Fantastic experience: Great team of riding teachers/trainers here. All are friendly and are a great laugh. But they take their job seriously and you get what you pay for here. The training is planned out very well.

Fantastic experience: 4 day intensive DAS course. They train you to a higher standard than the test requires, constantly correcting you and advising what you should be doing even when you feel your riding well. What this means is the easiest part of the course is the test at the end which probably explains their very high pass rates. Everyone that week passed first time too, very impressive. Large off road practice area, fantastic bikes to practice on kept to a very high standard and the instructors are very good at keeping you calm and confident if your a new or nervous rider. Fantastic experience: Highly recommend these guys, the training was 2nd to none. Although it was only my CBT, they helped iron out some bad habits picked up over the years partially preparing me for whats to come on the DAS. Very friendly bunch, great senses of humour whilst still maintaining a professional attitude. What a great team they have here!!

Fantastic experience: The gents there are great, I've done a CBT and a handful of lessons. Much better tutelage than I've had from other places. Large practice area. No complaints at all, cheers guys, I'm sure I'll be back!

Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed my time here- did a 5 day DAS course, only having completed my CBT a few weeks prior with no previous experience riding motorcycles. Passed both Mod 1 and 2 on the last day. These guys got me to a point very quickly where I probably could have passed on day 3 or 4. Darren and Kev have great teaching styles, with a perfect mix of banter and concentrated skill development, tips to pass the tests, real-life riding tips, praise on what went well, and solid advice on what could be better.
