The Ride Academy

Fantastic experience: Recently completed the DAS course with The Ride Academy to get my full A licence and could not recommend these guys enough. From the CBT right through to the last lesson the instructors were all super helpful, patient and confidence inspiring to make sure you sail through the MOD 1 and MOD 2 tests. I looked at a few different riding schools in the NW area and do not regret my decision going with The Ride Academy. Dave, Ian, Lee and Luke are all top class, super friendly and have been doing this for a long time so they know what they’re talking about and get you to a riding standard that is much higher than needed for the tests. If you are searching for a riding school then you will not regret going with The Ride Academy!

Fantastic experience: Completed my CBT a couple of days ago with the Ride Academy. The instructors were excellent, I was a complete novice, never driven a motorcycle before and the pace of the course was perfect. Excellent tutuion in a safe environment, very clear and concise instruction and plenty of top tips from guys with loads of experience. Fantastic experience: I recently completed a motorcycle course, and it was an incredible experience! From start to finish, the instructors were knowledgeable and patient. The course covered everything i needed to pass my tests. I felt well-prepared for any situation on the road. I appreciated how the instructors took the time to answer any questions I had and provided valuable tips to improve my riding skills. Thanks to the ride academy, I feel much more confident and capable as a rider, and I would highly recommend this course to anyone, who is interested in learning how to ride.

Fantastic experience: Passed my A2 with these guys and the training they offered for both MOD 1 and MOD 2 definitely helped shape the way I ride on the road as I've been implementing the training into my own riding in-between lessons. Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant! Having completed the full journey from CBT to full licence I can happily say I am glad I chose these guys. From day 1 they have been welcoming, supportive, and knowledgeable. Each lesson was structured with a brief both pre and post, and the lesson was delivered so you were comfortable and confident in what you were learning. I would happily recommend them and it’s all the reviews like this that has given them their great reputation.

Negative experience: Hi Luke, a £100 refund means nothing as she got nothing from the day, no qualification. We paid for the CBT and got half a days training which counts for nothing as she will have to do the full day again. She paid for a full days training which was not given, saying ‘the other trainee was ready to progress’ doesn’t make any better as she applied for the CBT on her own. It is completely unfair she was sent home because she couldn’t keep up with someone who has had past experience driving a manual motor vehicle, it is extremely poor organisation on the companies part to pair someone with so much experience with someone starting from scratch, especially if you send them home if they cant keep up with the partner.

Fantastic experience: Great group of guys, took me from no bike experience to a confident rider. Passed all tests first time following their guidance. Would definitely recommend to anybody. Cheers guys

Fantastic experience: What can you say?! simply superb instruction/advice from all involved, guys at the top of their game, went in with next to no riding experience but have come away feeling confident enough to navigate the hairy British roads on two wheels, but I’m not getting complacent and I’ll be coming back for further training from the best in the business, how do I know? Everyone is so friendly and we felt very welcome there,support and knowledge they gave you is just to the highest standards.They will teach you how to properly ride the bikes. Fantastic experience: From never riding a motorbike to full license in 6 lessons. Passed both tests first time. I can't recommend these guys enough, great set up and comfortable. You'll have the chance to learn off different instructors each with their own tips and tricks, as that information solidifies over your lessons you come back stronger each time. A bonus review of the coaches! Dave - cool, calm, collected - makes you feel confident when riding. Makes you promise to "ride like that you'll pass". Lee - Gives you the boost of confidence you need when you make mistakes and can correct them. He'll make you laugh. Steve - Will tell you exactly how it is. Do it, or die basically... Or he'll ring his mates from the force and have you arrested... Maybe. Ian - Passed my Mod 2 test with Ian. Good guy. Luke - Seems legit... Very good at booking you in on his beloved computer.

Fantastic experience: I undertook an advanced rider scheme course yesterday, as part of my blood bike service. It was a great, and positive experience all round. From Luke in the office, to the friendliness of the other instructors, it was a great afternoon that I thoroughly enjoyed. Best of all, instructor Lee was a very calming influence, and a very nice bloke, who taught me a great deal. I really do think that all bikes should now be sold, with an audio tape of Lee's voice, as it would be a great safety feature

Fantastic experience: Done my CBT today with Mike my 5 star goes to him. Great professional, great instructor crystal clear instructions and everything he trained out. Highly recommend Mike to do your CBT or any tests.

Fantastic experience: A friendly and professional company that helped me pass my cbt mod1 and mod2 within a few weeks, they have a friendly way of teaching that helps with nerves and makes it easier to remember what you have learned, so you can progress very quickly to getting your licence. I would recommend them to anyone.

Fantastic experience: My friend told me about The Ride Academy, said it was the best place in the northwest for a cbt, extra training, etc. Mike and Lee were outstanding when it came to patience, understanding and overall tutoring! By far the most professional and friendly place to get your next steps to motorcycling done! (Biggest tip I could give, is leave friends and family at home, having someone familiar there CAN and WILL become a distraction, you're there to be safe and learn! Not gossip about how fast you'll learn wheelies or who's making tea later!) Whoever chooses The Academy, chooses a safe, friendly and professional approach to the bike life!

Fantastic experience: Having just passed my full license test this morning I couldn't not leave a great review. I took my CBT here back in 2023 with Steve, rode for 12 months and decided to go for my full license. The standard of training I received from Steve, lee, Dave and Ian is the only reason I managed to pass both of my tests in a relatively short period of time. It was never an issue getting lessons or booking test slots an was amazed how quick the process was. I never felt under pressure with any of the instructors and the level of patience they have, especially when I was doing something wrong, it was treated with an approach that doesn't stress you out. Like Dave always used to say before each lesson "3 mates going for a ride" and that's how it always genuinely felt. From the minute you walk in the door, you feel welcome and relaxed. I'm just so glad I got my nerves and dodgy riding out of the way, on my ride before my test Thanks again to all of you, I really appreciate all the help you've given me over the last month or so. I've just picked up my new bike and it was weird riding it home without "less space, less speed" down an ear piece! All the best

Fantastic experience: I've just done my cbt, I started on geared but I couldn't rap my head around it so I was able to switch to auto. As a whole, Mike my instructor, was very patient and understanding he really put me at ease, after the switch the auto it was smooth sailing and much better than my last cbt. Defo recommend the ride academy if your doing either geared or auto.

Fantastic experience: I recently did my CBT with Mike from The Ride Academy and I can tell you this guy is a complete professional at what he does. His manner is so calm and instructions so precise that whatever anxiety you may have had before will quickly disappear, as you know you're in safe hands. Fantastic experience: Got recommended by friends in work and went for my CBT on Saturday and was lucky enough to have a 1 to 1. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. All the people who work there are very friendly and felt safe all the time riding as it was my first time. Mike was the one who taught me and couldn’t be any happier with how I got taught. Will be doing the rest of the modules with them 100%.

Fantastic experience: Finally dipped my toe into Motorcycle life (probably another mid-life crisis). However, absolute great and professional instruction on my CBT. Looking forward to an upcoming 'Bridging Course' to allow me step-up from 125cc to 750cc and on towards my Mod 1 and Mod 2 full Motorcycle tests .

Fantastic experience: A pleasure to work with the instructors and progress through Mod1 and Mod2. I always felt ready for the tests thanks to the thorough lessons. I had the chance to work with different instructors and would recommend them as your route to any riding!

Fantastic experience: Recently completed my CBT here and couldn't recommend the place more. Mike and Steve gave clear and concise instructions with no added pressure to the day. Didn't really feel like a test at all, more like a group of friends going out to ride, with just a few extra tips to make the ride more comfortable and more enjoyable. Fantastic experience: Had a 2 hour lesson back in November to get my confidence back after a failed CBT with another company, loved it and did my CBT today and passed. Instructors are absolutely amazing to work with, so supportive and understanding, highly recommend for neurodiverse learners and absolutely amazing at building my confidence back up. Can't thank them enough and can't wait to go back for my A1.

Fantastic experience: Perfect attitude! ☺️ We have never touch a bike, but it is something that my husband and I wanted to experience. We were recommended to use The Ride Academy by a neighbour. From the moment we enter the office we were made feel very welcome by Luke. All the staff in the office were kind and friendly. The process of booking the course etc was smooth and it was nice leaving the office feeling that we defo wanted to do this. On the day of the course we met Mike… what a legend! The most kind, fair, helpful, fun and knowledgeable person, he was very thorough, he explained every thing very well and gave us the confidence we needed to kept going! Fantastic experience: Recently passed my full licence with The Ride Academy.. Went for the DAS after already obtaining my CBT and theory I was reccomended The Ride Academy by a friend who had passed last year. Firstly the knowledge and experience of the instructors is second to non having mainly dealt with Lee & Dave throughout my training the experience as a whole was enjoyable but also professional and I can definitely say I am a better rider for it. I would reccomend The Ride Academy for anyone who is just starting out or even a long time rider just wanting to get your full licence to pop in and give them a try you wont regret it !

Fantastic experience: Had a brilliant day doing my CBT today. I had Ian as an instructor and was in a group with one other rider. He is a very friendly and professional instructor, as is the whole setup at the ride academy.

Fantastic experience: Do not go anywhere else!! The start of the year I decided to finally go for it and start motorbike lessons. After a number of friends and colleagues who had recommended the ride academy to me from their own experiences, I knew what I needed to do! From the moment I stepped through the door of the ride academy, I felt welcomed and some how more excited to get cracking! The first step was a full day CBT, which, for me, was a chance to see if I really did think a motorbike was for me! From the moment I sat on the little 125 and set off, I knew I was going to want more! The CBT was successfully passed thanks to lee who made the day enjoyable from start to finish, and I quickly moved on to booking my first mod 1 lesson on "the big bikes", and from there I didn't look back! Every single instructor that I had the pleasure of dealing with during my lessons/tests made my time with them fun and enjoyable, obviously, ensuring we got the job done! I have now gained my full bike license having passed my mod 1 and mod 2 first time thanks to the level of training I received. But as much as I am loving being on the open road, a big part of me misses the experience with the instructors at the ride academy! It's an experience that will stick with me forever! I will hopefully deal with the ride academy in the future to further advance my riding. Thanks again for all of your help at the ride academy, Nathan

Fantastic experience: Both myself and my wife had a great couple of sessions to pass our CBT. The instructors are very friendly and excellent teachers for two total novices. We look forward to getting some experience on the road and coming back for the next stage of our licences. Couldn't recommend a better place to learn to ride.

Fantastic experience: My friend and I decided to do our CBT with these guys, and it was the best decision we made! We worked with Steve, who was extremely nice and respectful throughout the entire training, guiding us and helping us learn and perfect our skills. We were nervous entering the biking industry as neither of us had ridden a motorbike properly before. However, Steve provided a relaxed environment that helped us concentrate on learning in the safest way possible. Much appreciated, guys!

Fantastic experience: Im not normally one for reviews but got to give credit where credits due! The Ride Academy are a great riding school with a great bunch of lads (and lady)! Did my CBT through to my full licence (A) with them and couldnt fault it. Great service when I first called up, informative, friendly and professional. The instructors are great and teach from real world experience (rather than just from a book), the bikes are all pretty much new and test dates were available without having to wait too long. Whats not to like! 10/10!

Fantastic experience: Visited The Ride Academy early February and had a great time, while I struggled a little with confidence on the road Carl was a great help, giving me pointers and teaching all the necessary skills to progress through my CBT. I can now say I'm much more confident and experienced on the road thanks to The Ride Academy.

Fantastic experience: Can't recommend these guys enough . I've been talking about doing my bike licence for a few years now but never got around to it for one reason or another. Kept passing by their place to and from work at the start of December and decided it was time to stop talking and start doing. I stoped in and spoke to Dave the owner and explained that I wanted to gain my licence and that I didn't want it to drag out!! And boy did they deliver.... It took me from start to finish under 2 months and that with a cancelled Mod 1 due to ice amd a cancelled Mod 2 due to snow ❄️. That's all down the great bunch of instructors that work there each of them was very knowledgeable and explained everything in away that was easy to follow. I personally worked with 3 different instructors throughout the process and they were all pleasure to learn from. I honestly can't recommend The Ride Academy enough thanks alot guys

Negative experience: The place must clearly do something right with so many great reviews, but I have to report my honest experience of the day I was there. The other staff I briefly dealt with seemed nice but Karl was the most impatient, condescending and patronising instructor I have ever experienced. In addition to talking down to me, inappropriate personal comments were made and he was shouting and swearing down the headset for half of the time on the road. I don't know if this was on off day, or what happened, but there's no excuse especially when you're paying a lot of money. It also sounds like he has a personal grievance with the content and requirements of the CBT. I know I may come under flack as the only negative review but I feel it's only right that I'm entitled to express my account of things.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at The Ride Academy have been absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Just over a year ago I completed my CBT with them to start my adventure into the biking world and I couldn’t have found a better place. Very clear, thorough instructions throughout every lesson with all of the instructors (who are all great guys) to make sure you are safe and ready for the roads (as well as a few laughs!). In December I decided to go for my full license and have now passed my Mod1 & Mod2 with The Ride Academy and can’t thank them enough for their help and guidance in making sure I was ready. Highly recommended to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Renewed by CBT with Ride Academy today. Ian and Lee were fantastic instructors! They were patient with each person as they struggled with different aspects whilst ensuring everyone felt safe. I also learned a few new skills that I hadn't encountered on previous CBT's. I went from zero experience in the morning to riding on the road before dinner. I enjoyed the pace that was set and Ian's style of teaching really match up with my style of learning. Fantastic experience: Just brilliant, I went from never riding a bike to a full A license in three months thanks to the ride academy. They treat you as an adult and teach you how to ride a bike not just pass your test. I would recommend them to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I completed my DAS course with the ride academy recently. Dave and the team have one of the best teaching setups I have ever seen. The quality of instruction and the friendly atmosphere make them stand out above all the rest. If you need anything to do with motorcycle training or motorbikes in general, these are the only guys to go to! Can’t recommend them enough ️

Fantastic experience: What a fantastic bunch of guys to do my CBT with, information was fantastic and really engaging as well as the practical side, really enjoyed my day and passed feeling confident on the road, was extremely nervous to be fair yet was made to feel at ease every step of the way, will for sure enjoy my time on the road and will be back with them for my lessons when i have some road experience, 100% would recommend the ride academy to anyone whether experiences or a novice like myself. Fantastic experience: Had a fantastic day with Dave and the team doing my CBT. I learnt so much from these guys and their knowledge and the way they put things across is second to none. Had a mixed group of riders on my course,, but the way they explained things and showed us on the bike meant all levels of rider experience soon got upto speed. I had previously done my CBT with another provider but the level of detail and the way it was put across was on a different level. Fantastic experience: Having just passed my A Licence with the Ride Academy I felt compelled to write a review about my experience. I am 53 and I did feel intimidated at the thought of entering into this but I needn't have worried. The whole team are so welcoming, down to earth and make you feel really comfortable no matter what your age or level of experience you have. Right from the CBT I felt as though I had made the right decision to go ahead, and not once did I feel I was looked down upon. The knowledge and coaching is second to none, very relaxed but motivational at the right time. If you are a man of a certain age considering taking lessons with these guys, don't hesitate, you will be made to feel very welcome. Thanks to the whole team for the training and fun we had along the way. 100% recommended!

Fantastic experience: Passed my A2 license first time (for both Mods) with The Ride Academy at the start of August. Absolutely loved my time there as a student. I had Ian, Lee and Dave as my instructors and they were among some of the most knowledgeable and nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. All the instruction I was given was consistent no matter the teacher, and any questions I had they were able to answer without a second thought. Absolutely worth the time, money and distance (given the fact that I live over the water in Liverpool) and I would recommend these guys to anyone. I will absolutely be coming back here to get my A License when I'm eligible for it.

Fantastic experience: My experience with The Ride Academy has always been fantastic. The friendliest team and very professional. From doing the CBT to my full licence last year they have been amazing teachers. Even just popping down for a chat you'll always be welcomed. I will always recommend anyone to go here as you will be well looked after. I went on to do two tours with these guys in the peak district and again had a great time. The organisation the team puts in before and during the rides make it a perfect trip and you really don't have to think about anything you just relax and enjoy it. Fantastic experience: (Update - I did go back and complete my A2 with them!) Had an amazing day doing my CBT here last week. I was brand new to motorcycling and had never even sat on one before. Lee and Steve were super knowledgeable and professional. They made sure everyone understood what we were doing and answered all of my questions. They corrected us if we were doing mistakes, it was clear their priority was making sure we were safe and capable at all times. The ride on the road was my favourite part, it felt so rewarding. Lee said I did excellent progress and things are looking good for the rest of my motorcycle learning journey. Looking to do further lessons and gain my A2 licence with them soon. Thanks again.

Fantastic experience: I’ve completed my CBT, A2 and today complete my A license with the team at the ride academy. They are a phenomenal team and I would highly recommend them for anyone who is interested in joining the biking would or progressing their training. Top team!!!

Fantastic experience: Passed both mod1 and mod2 first time all thanks to the amazing guys at ride academy thank you all so much and a massive shout out to Dave who really helped me build my confidence building up towards both tests you’ve all been amazing. Fantastic experience: Absolutely 11/10 service. Highly recommended to me I chose the ride academy to do my full cbt through DAS course, from start to finish they were friendly, professional and incredibly talented instructors, they keep you on top end bikes and never once did I feel out of my depth. Passing all tests first time and with confidence. Can't wait to go back and do their tours once I have my own bike.

Fantastic experience: Can’t thank Dave, Lee and the rest of the Ride Academy enough. Their tuition and guidance taking a very inexperienced rider to completing my full bike license was first class. The focus on safe riding gave me real confidence on the road, while the knowledge and experience passed on to me will stay with me for the rest of my time on two wheels. Fantastic experience: Just completed my CBT training. Both Lee and Ian very supported and the training given was excellent. Previous to my training I had zero experience riding a motor bike but after a full day's training and all the information and guidance given by both Lee and Ian I can now ride a 125cc bike... Fantastic experience: Any wonder that Ride Academy have a fantastic reputation in Chester and the surrounding region within the biking community and social media from my experience. All the instructors including the owner Dave are highly professional, friendly and very importantly are dedicated to safe riding and tailoring your tuition as you progress towards obtaining your full license. The prices are competitive. Along with my group of fellow trainees we found both the technical and practical learning experience enjoyable and our confidence level increased with every lesson. Having got my full license I went onto achieving the DVSA Enhanced Rider Scheme with Ride Academy. Another great experience which upped my technical knowledge and bike skills - time and money well spent. Over successive years I have been on two-day overnight stay Peak District group tours with Ride Academy which were well-planned great scenic routes, (challenging in some stretches too!) and great fun. Looking forward to the Wales tour in Autumn. Last thing - I’ve made some new friends through Ride Academy which has added big-time to the whole experience. Highly recommended. N.Robinson, Chester.
