Negative experience: We have bought hundreds of bikes from Bill Smith over the years and had no problems. However, since everything has moved to Christleton the Sales department has hit rock bottom. The new woman on the desk is rubbish. She is rude and so unhelpful. It's not just a one off either, every time we go and ask for help with something she just isn't interested. Come on Mark get a grip of your new staff. We try to avoid having to use them if she is on the desk which is very sad as I have been dealing with Bill Smiths since way before Mark was a twinkle in Bill's eye.

Fantastic experience: I had a really good experience buying my first big bike from here. I expressed interest in one of their used Honda bikes and dealt mostly with Ash, who was very patient as I was sorting out the sale of my old bike and arranging a date for collection. On the day of collection Ash and the team were very helpful and considerate of the fact I had a long journey to get home and spent as much time as I needed showing me around the bike and were happy to answer questions. I'm very happy with the bike and I wish I lived closer to this excellent dealership!
Fantastic experience: Outstanding service from start to finish. Wayne was the salesman and I purchased the HD Road King as in the pictures. Got it transported to Glasgow where I would then ride it home to Inverness the next day. Unfortunately the clutch packed in on the journey north. That was no fault if BillSmith Motors. Even though I was about 400 miles north of there location we kept in touch where they organised with a local dealers. Mitchell’s Motorcycles in Inverness. A new clutch was fitted and now everything is hunky dory. Five stars all round and a pleasure to deal with

Fantastic experience: 2 years ago I bought an Alpinestars Goretex touring suit, I’ve had them before and are usually superb, I also have mostly Alpinestars riding kit as it’s usually so good and comfortable. Anyway, the suit started leaking water and I was getting wet and on Sunday I got soaked to the skin, not good for a goretex suit. Anyway, I spoke to the lovely lady in clothing who contacted the AS rep, and even after 2 years AS said to replace the suit. I couldn’t have asked for better service from either the lady at Bill Smiths or from AStars. One extremely happy customer

Negative experience: Bought a new suzuki from here. Was promised a deal with an exhaust this never happened was told they never agreed to this but they did. Also when I took my part exchange in they failed to register the bike to themselves for 2 months. I had to contact them to tell them to sort this out with the dvla. This resulted in me paying tax for a bike to sit on there shop floor. All in all a pretty poor effort from Bill Smiths I would never buy from them again after this experience. UPDATE!!!!! Now they a threatening me with a solicitor for leaving a truthful review on Google. UPDATE 2!!!!!!! This is the people you are dealing with at bill smiths. I don't need to blame anyone I'm just letting honest people know of my experience with this company. You also forgot to answer as to why you didn't register my trade in bike with the dvla for 2 months?
We expected a false review from yourself and we have asked you to remove your lie. For anyone reading this,Mr Bancroft got his facts incorect as he was offered a free exhaust from another dealer when shoping round not ourselves or was this even a suzuki offer, He decided to buy from ourselves his choice completely,at no point was he forced to buy the new motorcycle.He decided to buy because he liked the deal we offered, then after because he must of got confused with the deal he looked at from another dealer, he claims we didnt honour a free exhaust.This option was never agreed buy ourselves at any point or put in any part of the deal or paper work. After many discussions with ourselves and Suzuki uk confirming to Mr Bancroft he got his facts incorect, with not excepting his mistake obviously then choses to give a false bad review, its very annoying when people have to find others to blame for their own errors
Fantastic experience: Excellent service from all at Bill Smiths. I’ve had a brand new bike and a pre owned from them. The pre owned one had a few issues which were sorted out with no quibbles, so pleased with the positive attitude and superb customer service.
Negative experience: Only giving 1 star as after months my partner actually did get a refund on his TZR250 sold to us as faulty. Was in the garage for months. Trying to get to speak to anyone was nigh on impossible. Trying to get an update was the same, and this is after paying 10K for a motorbike from them. Calls and emails ignored. When we did eventually get to speak to someone ( the manager ), his attitude was absolutely horrendous. We only managed to get a refund ( which we were legally entitled to ), once we had contacted a solicitor to go down the small claims court. Absolutely shocking customer service. I suggest some customer service courses are attended by management. Posting this review months after, as someone we know also had a bad experience, and at the time of ours, I was told to remove my bad review! Not any more, now reposted.
Dear Mrs Gilroy , we apolagize for the situation, again as we did at the time,it was a unfortunate situation as we tried to get the TZR250 2 stroke runnning correctly for you,as we agreed it was not the correct bike to ride every day .And as you say we gave you a full refund. Fantastic experience: Went with a friend to look at a second hand Harley. The new showroom is very impressive with a massive selection of different make and models. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable without being pushy. My mate came away with an immaculate Road King and a big smile. A*
Negative experience: Appalling attitude from the business manager after sales complete .. we had a few issues so sent an email only for my husband to be spoken to in a very disrespectful manner, telling us that what we stated about the delivery was incorrect - we have cctv footage ! We were given a time of delivery and because it was late the manager basically said it’s not the end of the world !! No maybe not but we had plans and cut them short to get back for said delivery. The lack of customer service is disgraceful .. and the arrogance of the manager is disgusting. We should have read the reviews before even going near this place !!
Hi mrs Riley ,very sorry you feel this way , we agreed to deliver the bike to you on friday ,due to the driver having a emergency doctors apointment he was 2 hours late to you on the same day, unfrtunatly isues like this can not always be avoided . We apolagize the bike arived 2 hours late but sometimes outside factors can take over, We hope you enjoy your bike as its a lovely example and great bike.
Fantastic experience: Recent purchase of a bike and tank bag. The bike was exactly what I wanted and I needed it quick for a European tour as my old bike had a fault I couldn't fix in time. Normal delivery time was 7 to 10 days but was ready in 5. Bag cost was equal to the best price I could find anywhere.

Fantastic experience: I popped in late this afternoon to ask for some advice from the service department. I have a VFR800X CROSSRUNNER, which unfortunately I allowed to fall on it's left side on Monday. The R&G crash protectors did their job and saved any major damage occurring. Unfortunately the end of the gear lever snapped off. I was in the area (visiting my mum who is in a care home) and popped in to see how easy it would be to replace the lever. The chap I spoke with on the Service Desk was very helpful, describing the threads on connecting rod and how to detach the old one etc. Many thanks! When I'm next looking for a new bike, I'll definitely be looking at Bill Smith!
Fantastic experience: recently bought a GSXR1000 from here. whilst being PDI'd they found it wasn't running spot on so spent quite a bit of time finding the fault which was hard to trace, but the workshop guys - Lee and Mike were very thorough and fitted lots of parts and supplied the bike in perfect condition, rides superbly. thanks to Wayne in sales for keeping me updated on progress and the boss Mark for not cutting corners and suppling a great used bike at very sensible money. as a reward for my patience Mark said he will give the bike a service free of charge next year which was very decent of him.

Negative experience: Hi Bill. Hope you are well. Great move to this new site. What's going to happen to your old site? Unfortunately, when I arrived it was 10 minutes before 6. The staff had already closed all the tills and those were left were on their way out. So I did not get served. I will go to Northwich tomorrow. Just needed a cheap helmet for a demo. Fantastic experience: A big shout out to Bill Smiths of Chester. After months of looking for the right bike for me, I found it in Bill Smiths showroom. A 20 year old CB1300! The old girl is in stunning condition and real credit to its previous owners. Dave Davies, the showroom manager, couldn't have been more helpful. They were happy to correct a couple of minor faults. The bike was given a fresh MOT and a Service. They popped a new rear tyre on at there own discretion. I picked it up on the first sunny day. It even came with a full tank of fuel. The bike first caught my eye back in January. Not really wanting a 20 year old bike, my search continued around all the big showrooms in the North West and the Midlands. But the old girl had got into my head and I was comparing everything I saw to the unusual CB1300 sat there at Bill Smiths. I'd definitely recommend the team at Bill Smiths. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Came in for a new front tyre a couple of days ago. I've only got a 125cc. Also had a couple of services here. The staff at the service desk are great, very friendly and always explain what the cost will be up front. Also the mechanic with the beard who worked on my bike obviously really knows his stuff and has previously diagnosed a fault on my bike and explained it to me himself. Fantastic experience: I very recently bought an Indian Scout Bobber from your dealership. Where necessary, I firmly believe in challenging poor customer service, but conversely I think it just as important to highlight great service. When I initially thought about purchasing an Indian, I went to MCO in Orrell. Without going into too much detail, their customer focus was absolutely woeful. The sales chap was disinterested, unfamiliar with the brand and even admitted to breaching warranty practices. I returned to the Indian website and fortunately found yourselves, fairly local to me. I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with David Davies from discussing the specifications of my bike and pricing from the start. I have to say it’s been an absolute pleasure to deal with Dave through a couple of visits and several phone calls. He’s always been courteous, very friendly, professional and thoroughly knowledgable about the Indian brand. One of my friends was thinking about purchasing a Royal Enfield and I had no hesitation in recommending he speak with Dave. He went on to actually take delivery the same week I did with mine. We’ve both said how refreshing it is to experience such great service and attention. I’m quite certain he’s a highly valued member of your staff and deservedly so. Positive experience: Purchased a brand new bike, bit of faff sorting things out but got there in the end. I do understand the sales team are busy but getting asked the same questions over a number of days makes you think do they know what they are actually doing? Prior to collection asked about a few accessories, but this was never fully replied too was just advised to mention them at the first service and we will sort it out. Anyway after numerous attempts to try book the first service, no answer on phone and on a personal visit were the service staff member was on the phone for over an hour and could not bothered to even acknowledge my presence i did find this funny because when i phone no one picks up and that if you can actually get through in first instance, i left and booked bike in at another official dealer with no hassle and no standing around. All in all i go elsewhere in future.

Fantastic experience: This place is heaven for motorcycle lovers here in Chester, UK as you can buy various types of motorcycles from this shop. Lower CC motorcycles to thousand or more cc like Suzuki Hayabusa, you name it, you will get it here. More importantly, you can get used motorcycles as well at a much cheaper price. If you need after-sales or servicing for the bike, the garage is also here. So, it's a complete package, and I loved it.

Negative experience: Ripped off, damaged bike, and left the garage unsafe! I strongly recommend you avoid using Bill Smiths for serving your vehicle. I brought my mint condition MT-07 in for it's second service, and left with scratches on the front and rear rims. There is also a 1 inch deep scratched in my centre tank plastic. They refuse to acknowledge that the issues were caused in their workshop - despite no one else working on the wheels. It took over a week for them to reply to me, and I had to chase them down by going to the shop, emailing, and phoning multiple times. On top of this, the person who worked on my bike left brake grease on my tyres! This is incredibly dangerous. Lee also suggested I had my tyres changed somewhere because they looked too new, I had to point out the 1mm tread difference between the front and rear tread pattern. Surely this is obvious? I paid £180 for an oil and brake pad change (which didn't need doing), and left with damages to both rims, centre tank plastic, and grease over crucial safety components.
Dear mr Walker , we did not rufuse to acknowledge your scratches,as we discused them at lenth with you ,we said we would look at the situation and disguss with the technition,the fact at no point of the service did we remove the wheels, we strongly disagree are technition caused any damage to your wheels. We have a very stricked working policy for all technitions that if they at any time cause any damage this is reported at dealt with,its always in the technitions best intersts to do this. In your case the technition with ourselves are 100%confidant the damage did not happen in our workshop.You also pointed out a very small scratch on your tamk protector this was along side a number of small scratches, they all looked of some age. We did however offer as a gesture of goodwill a discount on a service in the future , you fail to mention that in your review, if you would like to discuss any more please call in again to see us
Negative experience: Very expensive over £200 for the first service on my new honda. It should be around £130/140. Best to shop around! Also said they did a coolant check, yet my reservoir is on low

Positive experience: Unfortunately today at lights I dropped my vstrom breaking left side foot peg.This was a bummer as I was travelling to Wales. I ran the bike to bill smiths spoke to a Machanic thier he advised me to speak to Lee in the showroom which I did. Lee found a spare footrest and fitted it for me saving the day. asking lee how much I owed him he replied nothing. THANK YOU SAVED THE DAY !!

Negative experience: Uncomfortable experience I am currently in the market for a new bike and a couple more clothing bits. I popped into Bill Smiths after watching the BSB testing at Oulton Park. I’m not sure if I was profiled for wearing a black rain jacket (it was raining), and my hood was down obviously. I wandered around the bikes, and I was greeted by one member of staff. Who was friendly and polite. I then walked into the clothing department, were my every move was watched by a female behind the counter. After beginning to feel uncomfortable that she had stopped what she was doing with another member of staff to watch me, I asked if she was okay, to which she repeated the same back to me. The starring continued and so I left the store. I’m very disappointed as Bill Smiths is my local dealership and I was hoping to use them in the future, but I won’t be parting with any cash after that customer service experience.

Fantastic experience: I bought my first new bike with Bill Smith’s, really good experience from beginning to end. Not pushy salesman at all, allowed me all the time in the world. They were happy to let me test ride a bike for an hour first, which ultimately got them the sale. They always have a really good selection of bikes.

Fantastic experience: Born again biker and my previous experience of Bill Smith's was in their place off London Road in Liverpool when the man himself stalked the showroom as king of all he surveyed. Slightly disconcerted by the sprockets and brake disks on display in lighted glass cabinets but the service department was efficiently managed and competitively priced compared to nearby Honda franchises and they looked after my bike well, so no complaints.

Fantastic experience: I have used Bill Smiths several times, buying and trading in bikes as well as getting my bikes serviced. I’ve always been well looked after and the bikes I’ve purchased (both new and secondhand) have been top notch. They are a busy dealership and on occasion I’ve needed to chase them up but never to a point that it’s become frustrating or overly inconvenient. On the whole, they are great and wouldn’t have been in business as long as they have if they were less than good.
Fantastic experience: Bill Smith Motors helped me out of a fix! To cut a long story short, I had a bad experience buying a bike (2012 Triumph Tiger 800) from a 'Motorcycle Supermarket', which shall remain un-named. I'll spare the reader the whole saga, but the problem was finally resolved after 3 months, after which the warranty was spent. I decided to treat the bike to a dealer service, to re-baseline the maintenance; an MOT was also due - Bill Smith Motors was my nearest Triumph dealer. Unfortunately, the service uncovered a few serious problems, a (beyond repair) heavily corroded radiator being the most serious. This was 'serious' in a financial sense, but more problematic was the lead-time for replacement parts - 6+ months. The problems were MOT failures, so I had a bike that I couldn't ride for 6 months or more, as well as a significant parts & repair bill, and of course I couldn't sell the bike privately in that condition. James (service & parts) was very helpful indeed, and we discussed options at length, but it was clear to me that owning a bike that I could not ride was intolerable, so I asked if there was any possibility of 'cutting my losses' with an exchange of my bike with one of their bikes - I had spotted a near-identical (a bit newer, fewer miles) Tiger in their used stock. James put me on to Kieran in the sales department, to discuss whether this was possible. I have to say that Kieran couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and cheerful! He looked into the relative values of my bike against the 'new' Tiger, and came up with a reasonable 'price to change' deal, which included the cost of the repair that I would have had anyway. So, BSM took on the old bike and its long lead-time repair, and I rode away on a shiny 'new' Tiger! Yes, this episode cost me a few quid, but I was far happier with this result than the dismal alternative option. Thanks very much Kieran, James and BSM! When I'm next in the market for a new bike, BSM will be my go-to dealer. Cheers, Trevor.
Fantastic experience: Saw John in the parts department looking for a Hex bolt for my Triumph that is now obsolete. He went out of his way rummaging through a box of spares to find me one similar that did the job just perfect. Gutted to hear that Triumph are discontinuing their association with Bill Smiths after many years and that customers like me will lose out on the kind attention of dedicated sales staff like John and the rest of the team at Bill Smiths Chester. Negative experience: Very disappointed with their reaction when I was stranded on my Triumph a d they said not only they could not help with recovery (fair enough) but if I got my bike recovered to them they would charge storage!! My bike was actually due there for a service the following week !! Never going near them again. Terrible service !

I have discussed this matter with the service department and unfortunately, as we do not have the capacity to store bike for a period of time before a booked service appointment, we were unable to help in this instance. We also do not offer a recovery service and we would always point Triumph customers to use their RAC cover. I believe the conversation was to have the bike recovered to home and then we could have sorted something the following week? Fantastic experience: Bought my first big bike here about 14 years ago, great sales team, lots of help and advice. I do think and feel that they wouldn't sell you a bike if it wasn't for you. I dropped in with the full intention of buying a Triumph Tiger 660, only to my grave disappointment that not only did they not have one but as of the first of September they were no longer a Triumph dealer, something to do with Triumph wanting to sell themselves and keep all the profits, good luck Triumph think I'll go for a Yamaha Tracer, Bill Smiths sells them! Great dealership all round

Fantastic experience: Second visit th Bill Smiths, this time a first service on my Kawasaki w800. Friendly and polite reception. It was well worth the 50 mile trip as their quote was far more realistic than local. The service didn't take as long as the original quote so charged me less. Call me old fashioned but to me that's good old honesty and integrity. Not a scuff or Mark on the bike so it's a 5 star rating again. Highly recommended to all

Negative experience: staff are helpful and friendly however i went there to see a bike advertised online as "very clean" and it simply did not match that description. Disappointing.

Negative experience: Horrible experience all smiles and promises when they want to sell you something but when you come in with a warranty issue they don't want to know if you purchased else where. I'll never purchase anything from them. Plenty of other dealers out there without the fake smiles. Wouldn't give them a penny now. I was told I'm not important to them as I didn't buy from them even though it's a dealership for the bike.

Negative experience: Where do I start? My husband recently bought a brand new 2022 Fireblade from Smiths Honda - cracking service there by Sarah. Shame the same couldn’t be said for Bill Smiths. I rang on Monday evening and asked to speak to Kieran (sales and finance man), the lady who answered said he was on the phone and took my number to call me back. I want to purchase a used bike for bike rally’s rather than the brand new bike be used. No call back Monday I rang Tuesday, the chap who answered the phone said Kieran was tied up with motorbike handovers and could he help, I explained I wanted to purchase a bike I had seen on Sunday in the store. He said he would email Kieran with my details….still no call back - it’s now Tuesday night!! I guess they don’t want my business? Oh well the £9k cash I have for a bike will be used on another bike I am interested in from CMC Bikes in Cannock. I recently purchased a motorbike from there for my son - absolutely fantastic customer service and a follow up call too making sure everything was in order. Oh well Bill Smiths you’ve not only lost a sale but also my custom along with my husbands and sons custom.
Fantastic experience: Recently purchased a bike from these chaps online. 1st time I've done this. All my fears were put to bed when my new toy arrived exactly as advertised. A very professional outfit and would certainly buy from them again. Thanks Wayne, you are a star.
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff friendly and helpful good advice on clothing and helpful with the fitting size guide as to which size my daughter needed x good stock range and prices to suit most budgets. We will be back again to purchase the next item on her hit list
Positive experience: Loads of new motorbikes Triumph Suzuki Yamaha some less well known models, small amount of second hand bikes coffee machine was quite good quality staff were friendly but not trying to sell you anything there is food to be had outside if you want anything more substantial.They have a Honda dealership on the A41 that is a short drive away

Fantastic experience: just a really good experience from start to finish with Bill Smiths: from buying the bike, Wayne being very knowledgeable and chill, non pushy. To collecting the bike, all shiny and ready. But the most impressive part was the after sale service where I had a little issue with the bike. Superfriendly and instantly solved, no quibble at all.Gareth is a top man.
