LDC Driving School - Jackie Hewess: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Jackie has helped both my youngsters pass their tests. She is kind, flexible, professional, friendly and patient. She communicates brilliantly and takes the time to get to know her learners and what is most likely to help them.
Thank you Jane I enjoyed working with them both. They had some excellent practice with you between lessons too
Positive experience: Very thorough instructor. Always ensures everything is done by the book so that students are learning exactly what the examiners want to see.
Thanks Ben. Stay safe.
Fantastic experience: excellent training from jackie. She was so supportive,The way she taught. That was so understanding. I passed my practical test in my first chance . Thank you jackie , Wish you all the best
Thank you Chinchu. I enjoyed working with you and seeing your confidence grow. Well done!
Fantastic experience: Jackie is wonderful at her job and there wasn’t a lesson within the year of practicing with her that she didn’t make me feel confident or at ease with driving. Can't thank her enough x
Congratulations on your first time pass today Poppy, you deserved it and thank you for the review.
Fantastic experience: At the age of 41 I'm a latecomer to learning to drive, but Jackie has helped me immensely in my driving journey. She is a patient teacher and puts you at ease while you're in the driving seat, as well as being very thorough in explaining manoeuvres and teaching you safe driving techniques. While there is a set course to follow and check-ins are made at the end of each lesson, I had no worries in asking her to go over any skills that needed a bit of extra practise. The little extra techniques I've learned from her for parallel parking and bay parking will always stick in my mind! Jackie is a great choice of instructor for nervous learners of all ages and I'd recommend her to anyone.
Ah thank you for this review, Alan. I've enjoyed working with you and wish you all the best for the future with your driving journey, wherever it takes you!
Fantastic experience: I have just passed my driving test! I could never have done it without Jackie! She was always incredibly patient and reassuring, giving me all the time I needed to work through my anxiety and fear. Talking me through issues and giving me a plan for the next lessons so I wouldn't worry about the unknown throughout the week. Passing me tissues when I got frustrated at myself and laughing at my terrible jokes! Jackie made learning to drive enjoyable, and although I am excited about my pass, I will be sad not to see Jackie on a Saturday morning! Thank you so much Jackie!!
Ah, thank you for the lovely review Sarah and I shall miss you on a Saturday morning too! Take care and enjoy your driving now, knowing that you CAN do it ... and thank you again for the tissues
Fantastic experience: I began driving lessons with Jackie at the end of 2023 and 6 months late I passed first time. Jackie was a brilliant instructor and a pleasure to spend time with. She is patient and understanding and great at explaining things in detail. I loved the structured style of the lessons, each having an objective at the beginning and then reflecting at the end. I took my driving test at the same time as organising moving house and starting a new job, but because of Jackie I never felt stressed during my lessons. I would recommend Jackie to anyone wanting to start their journey with driving.
Thank you Rebecca. I'm so pleased you managed to achieve your goal in time for your move. A great result! Well done and best wishes for the future.
Fantastic experience: Jackie is an excellent instructor. I started lessons late September and achieved my driving license by March. I found our lessons very well structured and organised, we reviewed every lesson making a plan for the next. As a new driver I made lots of mistakes, Jackie always remained calm and reassuring, looking for ways I could learn from mistakes on the road. I will definitely recommend Jackie to friends and family! Thank you for a great learning experience Jackie.
Thank you Tilly, it was a pleasure working with you. Stay safe, and good luck for the future.
Fantastic experience: Jackie is a great driving instructor, being new to driving I started by booking a course of a few lessons to see how I got on with Jackie and driving in general, she was patient, understanding and great at explaining things, I decided to go ahead and book a semi intensive course, which I started in early January. The week was productive and enjoyable, there was no pressure to go ahead with the test I had booked a couple of weeks after that, Jackie always reassured me if I wasn’t ready it wasn’t a problem. I felt ready but unfortunately failed first time but re took my test shortly after and passed! Jackie managed to continue lessons with me until my next test and made sure all areas of concern were covered but also did this in a limited time! I would recommend Jackie to anyone! Thanks again Jackie
Thank you for the lovely review Chloe I really enjoyed working with you and seeing your driving skills and confidence develop over just a few months. I will miss our in car chat! Stay safe
Fantastic experience: Jackie was a brilliant instructor in getting me used to the area and ready to pass my test would definitely recommend
Thank you Eleanor. Happy to have been able to help you achieve your goal. Best wishes, Jackie
Negative experience: I want to begin by saying that Jackie was always nice, professional and obviously very knowledgeable, but unfortunately there are a few reasons why I would not recommend her for those looking at driving lessons. Firstly, Jackie's method of teaching is one that some may find to be useful, but I personally found to be very inefficient and costly in regards to time and money. As I was a complete beginner when learning with Jackie, I was unaware of what to expect when it came to lessons, though after a few hours, my family and friends voiced concerns for my progress. Jackie would dedicate one lesson to one particular topic. One example would be a whole hour spent navigating traffic lights over ten hours into my learning, which I had already driven around multiple times in my partners car. By only covering one skill of driving per lesson, I found in weeks to come I was forgetting skills obtained, as I was not able to regularly practice them. Alongside this, there were basic skills that I had not even covered with Jackie multiple hours into my learning, and so it was my partner who first taught me how to reverse the car and parallel park. Once I passed my theory test back in July 2023, Jackie booked in my practical driving test for the December, which felt like a very achievable goal so far in advance. Six weeks or so before my practical test, Jackie and I had spoken, and I had explained that this would have to be done in Jackie's car (as you'd expect), as my partner would be working that day. I am also very heavily pregnant, so for matters of time and money, I could not afford for my test to be put back. However, just over a week before my test date, just shy of forty hours of learning, Jackie decided that I was not ready for my test based on one mock test, and therefore refused me the use of her car. This massively knocked my confidence, as I had faith in myself to achieve this. As usage of my partners car was out of the question for my test date, I was forced to change my test to another date, but the only availability was at Hastings test center, and I had never driven in Hastings before. I unfortunately did not pass my test on that occasion as nerves got the better of me, but have since passed my practical test in Eastbourne, with no further lessons since my last with Jackie. I understand that sometimes practical tests may need to be postponed, though I believe five months should be enough time to prepare a student for a test. If allowed more notice than a week, then I would have been able to find a new test at a time convenient for myself and my partner and in the town I had actually learned how to drive in!
Firstly, congratulations Jenni on passing your driving test. I know how much this will mean to you.
I'm sorry though that you feel the 36 hours of lessons you had with me were not good value and am a little surprised you chose to continue lessons if that was your feeling after just a few hours https://www.moneyexpert.com/car-insurance/how-long-does-it-take-to-learn-to-drive/
As for the decision about your preparedness to go to test, I did make clear at the time of booking in July that the test would need to be moved if you weren't ready, and this was a discussion on several occasions in the months and weeks before the final decision was made, a fortnight before your original test date https://readytopass.campaign.gov.uk/ I understand that your personal circumstances made that decision more difficult, but clearly the additional practice you've had in your partner's car in the 6 weeks since then has made the difference needed to get the result you wanted.
I wish you and your growing family all the best for the future, and a lifetime of safe driving.
Fantastic experience: From day one Jackie was always very supportive and reassuring, obviously being a new driver I made plenty of mistakes and she was always very patient and took every minute of every lesson as an opportunity to learn and improve. I was very fond of our lessons and will miss them greatly as not only were they really informative, but fun as well! Thank you Jackie for such a wonderful learning experience, teaching always with a smile. I would definitely recommend Jackie to any friends or family!
Thank you for the lovely review Chailey. It was a pleasure working with you too :-) Stay safe!
Fantastic experience: I had refresher lessons with Jackie, on the recommendation of my partner, having not driven for a considerable length of time. Jackie was brilliant; patient, calm and offering excellent advice and points of reference in all areas of driving. She really helped instil confidence in getting back on the road and feeling comfortable driving again. Her guidance, in conjunction with the LD system of workbooks etc was very valuable. Would highly recommend.
Thank you for the lovely review Oliver. It was a pleasure working with you and seeing you get to the point you are now at, driving your own car with increasing confidence for your new role at work and also for your family.
Fantastic experience: I took refresher lessons with Jackie, who is a brilliant instructor. She explains everything so clearly and with infectious enthusiasm. Her teaching and encouragement quickly built up my skills and confidence. Highly recommended.
Thank you Jenny. I enjoyed working with you and am so pleased you enjoyed the lessons and got your confidence back with driving and therefore your travel independence. Stay safe!
