Fantastic experience: Passed first time with Allan, super patient and great instructor would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Allan is a fantastic driving instructor - patient, kind and professional. I struggle with anxiety and had previously failed a test and gone through two instructors before coming to Horizon Driving. I learned more there than with either of my previous instructors and finally passed my test! Allan gave me some useful advice about managing anxiety while driving, and always explained the reasoning behind what he was teaching me, which I found helpful as I like to learn in depth and feel confident in my understanding. Allan was also very Covid-safe, organised and was kind enough to fit around my work. Well worth every penny and I'd happily recommend Horizon to anyone, particularly if you are an anxious driver.

Fantastic experience: I have been trying to pass my driving test for 5 years. I have gone through 2 instructors and Alan from horizon was the only one I felt i was actually learning. friendly to talk to feedback at every turn made. Also as an avid reddit user when someone asked on r/Sheffield for advise on a driving instructor all nine of the top comments were for Alan. He got me through my test even having a long break due to covid and only getting three lessons in after a lockdown. Honestly before you book any driving instructor check if Alan is available before settling for second best.

Fantastic experience: Amazing instructor! I left learning to drive until slightly later than all of my friends because I thought it would be horrific but, with Allan, I actually loved my lessons. I passed first time which is testament to Allan (because of the aforementioned aversion to cars and driving). He’s so patient and nothing phases him, despite many many clangers I managed to put us through in our time together. And even though I’m not sure he’d say the same, I’ve missed seeing him every week; a two for one agony uncle and driving instructor.

Fantastic experience: Would definitely recommend Ian at Horizon - had a great experience learning to drive with him! Patient, understanding and highly knowledgeable instructor, who was always looking not just to help me pass my test, but to become a good driver in the long-term. Very flexible around my working hours, and flexible with location, which made learning to drive in amongst a busy work life a lot more manageable.

Fantastic experience: Allan was a really good teacher and he was really easy to get along with, he helped me massively with all my parking maouvers especially the parallel parking I highly recommend, I passed my test first time.

Fantastic experience: Allan is a fantastic and knowledgeable driving instructor, very friendly always patient. (even when I made mistakes) Constantly providing tips on how to improve driving especially providing helpful tips with the maneuvers. Learned lots of road styles and conditions, so that I wasn't just ready for the test, but ready to drive on my own! Highly recommend, even recommended to family and friends.

Fantastic experience: Allan was a great driving instructor, leaps and bounds ahead of my previous one. He was very patient with me and gave me plenty of useful tips as I was getting back into driving. Allan is clearly experienced in teaching people to drive and I would definitely recommend him.

Fantastic experience: Allan was very patient, especially on the most nervous days. From day 1 to the day I passed his patience never wavered. In no time at all I went from somebody that had never sat in a driver's seat to someone that is passing with only 2 minors. His teaching ability is fantastic and it has been a pleasure to learn under him. I would recommend horizon to any of my family and friends (which I actually have).

Fantastic experience: A top driving instructor, had me passed first time in such a short amount of time. Never felt nervous when he was in the car as he boosted my confidence a lot. Also passed my brother first time. Would highly recommend.

Negative experience: I had Mr Alan Smith as my first driving instructor. I failed two driving tests under his teaching and then decided to change to a different driving instructor/company. My fault for leaving it so long. The driving lessons generally meant going to drive to Castleton or Ladybower dam and very little in or around the city. Alan would only give me instructions if I did something wrong. And unfortunately he would occasionally fall asleep during the lessons. Before the tests we had not practiced all of the possible manoeuvres leading to me failing the second test. I do agree part of it was my fault as I did not ask to practice everything possible but a professional and proficient driving instructor should have a thorough routine. It feels as everything had been left to chance. I have waited until I have actually passed my driving test to write this review. I passed my test first time with the new driving instructor. There was a massive difference in teaching, feedback and a big improvement in my driving, there was feedback every five minutes or so. I was and am much more relaxed and confident. Do not wait too long to change your driving instructor if you feel it's not going anywhere. You do not owe them anything. Best of luck!

Fantastic experience: Allan was a great instructor and was always calm if I made mistakes but quick to react if necessary. His teaching allowed me to pass first time.

Fantastic experience: Great teaching from Allan at a good pace. Extremely professional and knowledgeable, extending beyond just teaching you what you need to know to pass. Recently came back for a refresher lesson and instantly settled back in.

Negative experience: Bloody awful instructor. Has no idea how lights work on a round about. Thinks it's appropriate to stop in the middle of the junction. Only 1 person was in the car so I assume it was the instructor. Unless he's letting his students go solo?
