Merthyr Tydfil Practical Driving Test centre: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I drove 3 and a half hours to this test centre after getting a cancellation, i was already nervous due to it being my second driving test and some of the reviews did not ease the nerves but i had my test with Steve (i believe) and he was very friendly, calm and clear with his instructions and despite the nerves, i passed!!
Fantastic experience: This was my 2nd driving test. Failed first time, the examiner was so cold that it affected my anxiety and I did mess up. Alan Harvey was my examiner this time, he was very nice and made me feel very calm. I’m autistic so was worried my communication may be a problem, but he was very kind and calm when I asked for him to repeat directions etc. and i passed! Thanks Alan!!
Fantastic experience: Had my driving test today with short steave with glasses , he made me feel at ease and confident and was a fantastic examiner, thanks
Negative experience: Alan Harvey, should be sacked and I am going to challenge this behaviour and the competenacy of this examiner. Its Alan Harvey that needs to be tested!!
Negative experience: I appeal to the management of this center, please, please remove the old man named Stephen. We drove 3 hours from London, and when during the test I could not understand him because of his accent, he began to shout at me like mad that if I did not understand English he would finish the test right away, but I understood something else that he was biased to people. from other cultures!!! Although I didn’t make a single mistake, I was very careful and never broke anything, he began to explain to me that I was doing everything wrong!!! Shame on your center for keeping unbalanced people as instructors!!! SHAME ON YOU AGAIN!!!
Fantastic experience: I was very nervous taking my test as I needed to pass the test for my new job and I had failed the first time in a difference center. But the lady examiner in Merthyr was so kind and instantly made me feel relaxed and less nervous resulting in me making less mistakes from nerves. I am so grateful that driving test centers hire people like this women. Thanks again!
Negative experience: I had Allen at the test centre the biggest knob Ed ever finds joy in failing people sad case of a man
Fantastic experience: Had a lovely experience with examiner Steve Manley. Very supportive and calming. Just the examiner you need when you are nervous.
Positive experience: Visited as my son was booked to do a driving test. Plenty of seating, toilet facilities and a drinking water fountain was provided on site for visitors. An addition of a coffee machine would have been welcome. Examination went smoothly and my boy passed.
Fantastic experience: Awsum
Fantastic experience: The place is in the industrial estate. Driving test went smoothly. Was asked to put the mask on and because I wanted another person on the back seat had to keep the windows open. Drove from the estate to the Merthyr and back. Had some really uphill turns. The instructor was polite and didn't make me uncomfortable. Just remember to breathe and move on if you make a mistake. As a result I did pass :)
Positive experience: I was giving Alan for my test he made me feel comfortable and safe, he was quite but but when I did mess up on my parallel parking he told me to breathe and try again, thank you Alan.
Negative experience: ALLEN HARVEY! !! I went to this place this year on 2 ocations failed 1st time passed 2nd time this February just gone. I had a awfull experience with the man who was my driving examiner he was told by my lovley driving instructor that I am diagnosed with autism and I have difficulty with my understanding sometimes. My first time meeting him he was very blunt as I have been told you can get some like that but there has also been people that had mentioned that he has a lot of complaints about him. My 2nd time with him when I passed on February the 8th of 2019 I passed with a 1 minor for not doing a final check over my shoulder while reversing to park in the bay. I wasn't even happy that I passed when I should have been after months and months of practising and dreaming to pass my test in fact I cried in my mum's vehicle because he upset me that much it wasn't in till 2 days latter the excitement really kicked in!! As I have already mentioned that I am Dignosed with autism and that I struggle to understand things he knew this at the time and I had even reminded him in case he forgotten... He told me to stop by a parked car I didn't really understand what he wanted me to do so I had taken it into my own hands and parked up by the side of the car. He looked at me like I was stupid and said what are you doing? I said sorry I don't understand what you want me to do? He said we'll what is there to understand!? I said we'll should I had parked behind it in front or to the side of it? His answer was well don't worry now just go! At this point I was really nervous and my hands felt like they was shaking out of controll it may not sound bad to you guys but it was the way he said it made me feel really small! There was some other little things like that through the 40 minute test that made me really upset like he asked me to pull up on the side of the road somewhere safe legal and convenient I knew all the places that I could not park because that was the one I struggled with when I was learning. I didn't find one spot and I kept driving if I had pulled up somewhere that wasn't any of them 3 tings he would had failed me. So I didn't pull up to the side of the road and he got moody saying WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I said sorry I couldn't find one so he said go back to the driving centure i parked in the bay looking all around and stopped the car. when we had parked he just looked at me and said do you think your in the lines? I opened the door had a look and i said yes. The way he said that I passed my test was so uninfusastic that it seemed like he didn't want me to pass. My mother even tried talking to him to make conversation like how did she do and he walked away from us we couldn't belive it we just couldn't stop laughing because of how rude he was. Just make things sound even worse my driving licence still has not showed up and it's been 3 months! It's now on investigation If you do have this man for your test i wish you all the luck in the world and I hope you dont have a bad experience like I did when it was supposed to be such a happy moment!
Negative experience: Absolute horrendous experience!!! Especially with an examiner named Alan Harvey, aka: 'The Terminator'! The man should be sacked, is a danger to learners, and does the complete opposite to promote driving. Disgusting, and the local driving test manager should be more than mortified with them-self for enabling this sort of behavior! It is only an amount of time until an accident is caused, and I hope both of them are held responsible when that time comes!!!!
