Fantastic experience: Darren is an excellent driving instructor, who ensures that you are fully prepared for your driving test. I passed first time thanks to him, as have many people that I know. I started as a complete beginner, and Darren taught the basics very well, and always recognised when I was ready to take on the next challenge. He is extremely helpful, and went above and beyond to help me improve, such as by sending voice notes to help me learn the parking manoeuvres, or providing all the up-to-date information about changes to the assessment. I can’t recommend him enough, cheers Darren!

Fantastic experience: Darren has been ever so kind and patient throughout my driving journey and thanks to him I finally got my UK driving license and passing it on my first attempt. Coming from a foreign country with some experience of driving, I thought it’d be pretty similar but heck was it different! Darren patiently went through all the components of the exam and made plans and goals for each of our lessons, customized to my level of driving. He always reassured myself when I have doubts and gave me a lot of encouragement throughout this journey, particularly for shy drivers like myself. Aside from being a great instructor, he’s hands down one of the nicest person as well! Thank you again Darren!

Fantastic experience: I passed first time all due to Darren’s help. Extremely grateful for his patience over the last year in helping me gain confidence on the road. I was terrified on my first driving lesson but he always reassured me he would never let me crash into anything. He has pushed me to be a better and safer driver. Fantastic experience: !!!From a page full of serious faults in mock tests to passing test with few minors!!! Hi All, I needed more than average number of lessons. There are 3 main reason for that. (1) I have never driven a car. (2) Difficulty in focusing during driving. (3). Wanting to be perfect. Imagine there is something called INCONVENIENCE QUOTIENT (I.Q). Imagine this is a measure of how much inconvenience you cause to other road users when you are on road. If I pass my test with a focus on just passing the test without being perfect, then what happens? I would cause more inconvenience to other road users. My I.Q will be very high. I told to myself that I would learn well until a well experienced instructor tells me that I am good to pass test and also I drive well on roads. This is the reason I took more than average lessons. I had 30 hours of lessons before taking Darren's help. All instructors are good. But there are two main problems which I have observed with other instructors. 1. BIG PICTURE. Most instructors don't make you aware of the big picture. Meaning, you will never understand what are the demands of test and what it takes to drive safely, in a short span of time. 2. Crisp and clear instructions. Sure many instructors does not know this (and they don't know that they don't know). First I requested Darren to take a mock test. The feedback was really impressive. It was one page full of feedback with all the errors I made. One of my friend, just by looking at the feedback, got surprised by the detailing of errors. Darren is "THE" best. He is an expert instructor. By the time I completed 15 lessons, I covered all big roundabouts in Isleworth area. (Please think from my point of view. I have never driven a car. If I was only taken to minor roads and small junctions till I become perfect at them, I will never understand what it takes to pass the test). Darren took me to big roundabouts from 10th to 15th class. There after, I understood what the test is about and how long I need to work on it. Darren gives crisp and clear instructions. If there is a mistake in my driving, he points out perfectly. One thing which was useful to me was fill-in-the-blank kind of questions which he asked during beginning of my lessons. This ensured I am scanning the road correctly. He allotted lot of slots. I practiced during weekends, weekdays, early morning lessons, different weather conditions. I rate him very high for his punctuality. This helped me in planning my time properly. One thing is, he is never lenient about signals, gear changes and serious mistakes. This helped me a lot in becoming a good driver (3rd point above). Lastly and most importantly, his method of teaching allowed me to see my own faults. Absolutely useful. I cannot say how much this perfected me. In short these are my ratings 1. Presenting big picture in short span of time - 10/10. 2. Punctuality - 10/10. 3. Crisp and clear communication - 10/10. 4. Unique method of making aware of your faults - 11/10. 5. Maintaining a record of progress - 11/10. I took test on Tuesday, 6th of June , 2023. I felt v.v.happy when the examiner said "I am pleased to say that you are passed". Darren, I cannot thank you enough. Wish you help many more like me. Cheers!

Fantastic experience: I bet that Darren is the best driving instructor, he will teach you everything you need to pass you driving test from the 1st attempt, he will never let you do more lessons than needed, he will let you know when you are ready for the test and leave it to you if you would like to have more lessons, he is very experienced, calm, patient, professional and honest, he will do whatever it takes him for you to pass the test.

Fantastic experience: There are no words to explain how amazing Darren is. I have been learning to drive for around 10 years, I have never been confident, I was always confused and no one answered the questions I wanted answered, I went with varies of different instructors, losing all hope I had, until my friend introduced me to Darren! In just a few lessons with Darren I went from saying I can’t do it, to taking every opportunity I can get to drive with my family and friends. I’m still astonished how in such a short time my confidence in driving went from 0-100, Darren answered every question I had, he would explain things in ways to make you understand, instead of getting angry or annoyed when you don’t get it. He showed me how to drive properly, showing easier ways to help you, especially with manoeuvres and all and he always gave me time. 2 years working with Darren and I can finally say I am a driver, passing my test just a few days ago, I would have done my test earlier but because of covid things took a long time. Thank you so much Darren for proving to me I can do it and for building my strength up and for helping me accomplish this great achievement that I thought I’d never be able to do, and I honestly appreciate everything you have done for me!

Fantastic experience: Darran at Filby Driver Training is an excellent driving instructor. Darran taught my 19year old son to drive, after he had to wait for the pandemic to ease and the chaos that followed with waiting times for lessons and tests at all times Darran was honest and realistic. It was imperative for my sons work that he learnt to drive with a professional and experienced instructor. Darrans communication and straight forward approach undoubtedly contributed to how much my son enjoyed learning to drive and he succeeded to pass his test first time adding to Darrans exceptional record. Filby Driver Training was recommended by a friend and I would wholeheartedly forward this recommendation to those seeking an honest, reliable and experienced driving instructor.

Fantastic experience: I started learning with Darren in January 2022, after getting a referral from my sister – who Darren provided a refresher driving course with. Darren was calm, patient, and consistent in his teaching. He was professional throughout my learning journey, and I am extremely appreciative of his support – particularly at a time when the industry is facing so many problems with backlogs, heaping pressure onto learners. Darren also exhibited great flexibility, often going above and beyond for his students; as a key example when my driving test date was cancelled - due to it sitting on the day of the queen’s funeral – Darren (whilst on holiday) drove up from Cornwall to Isleworth on the new date of my test to ensure that he could provide a warm up lesson and allow me to complete the test in his driving school car - absolute MVP behaviour! Darren is a thorough teacher and leaves no stone unturned when guiding students through the test area, exam requirements and general good driving practise. I would wholeheartedly recommend Darren to any learners in the Isleworth area that are looking for an instructor.

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend Darren as a driving instructor to anyone looking to learn how to drive. Anyone who is willing to put the effort in will find it a joy learning with Darren. His attention to detail ensures that every one of his students who takes the test is best possibly prepared and is able to pass the test easily. That is why Darren's first time pass rate is extremely high. In addition, he is highly committed to seeing his students succeed. In the week leading up to my test Darren got up much earlier than he usually would to ensure that I could have three more lessons so that I wouldn't struggle in the test. In the end I passed comfortably and found the test less demanding than many of Darren's lessons. This was very helpful because finding that the test is actually easier than what you had prepared for also really eases the nerves in the test, which would otherwise be the biggest danger to possibly failing. Finally, Darren is very organised and reliable.

Fantastic experience: I am very grateful to have had Darren as my driving instructor. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. From the first chat with him I knew he was the instructor I needed. He is flexible, professional and he can quickly diagnose a learner’s weaknesses before helping them to get its improved. Although I have experience driving left-hand drive vehicles, thanks to Darren I have become a competent and more importantly a safe driver who was able to pass the driving test from the first time. He was kind enough to schedule some extra lessons for me close to my test date, which helped me so much. I am very happy and proud to be part of the first time pass drivers group and to add a few tenths of a percentage to the Darren’s first time pass rate. I had only been driving for a very short time when I approached Darren for lessons, he was very flexible and made time for me in his busy schedule. He is always helpful, patient, professional and reliable, and has been exceptionally understanding and flexible during recent Covid-19 related logistical challenges. Darren is experienced and passionate about teaching and always provides up-to-date and thorough knowledge of current driving and assessment standards. While Darren knows how to push you to your potential, he also allows you to determine your own pace or style of learning. Darren helped me reach my goal of becoming a safe, competent and confident driver, and through this process I was able to pass my test first time. Fantastic experience: I’ve was learning to drive with Darren for almost a year. He was recommended to me by a relative and now I will be recommending him to anyone else that needs lessons. He is always reliable and professional. His lessons are fun but at the same time you achieve a lot within them. His teaching methods put you at ease and calm any nerves that you may have and you can go into the test with confidence that he has helped anyway possible. Fantastic experience: After almost a year of lessons I finally passed the test quite comfortably even thoigh I was very nervous. Thanks to Darren I was superbly prepared for every possible situation and knew the test area pretty well. He was very patient at first while I was still getting used to the car but started pushing me to the best of my ability and putting me into test-situations when he knew I was ready. He managed to push me to the best of my ability, but not further and helped me become a safe driver. I would definitely recommend Darren to anyone thinking of taking driving lessons, as they would definitely know to appreciate his humour and lovely style of teaching as well mature into a very good driver. He made me the best I could possibly become in the time frame and made me really enjoy driving.

Fantastic experience: Darren is a phenomenal instructor and I highly recommend Filby Driver Training to anyone wanting to learn. I was naturally quite nervous approaching this course but Darren was so patient and made me feel very comfortable and relaxed in every single lesson up until the hour before my test. He was amazing at helping me manage my nerves, learn techniques to allow for impeccable driving and most importantly, pushing me to enjoy the whole experience. Darren is thorough, professional and organised in his lessons and I felt so prepared by the end. The use of CCTV cameras on his car is an amazing technique which allowed me to watch all my mock tests back, pushing me to improve week by week. He is clearly very passionate about his job, evident by his teaching style and attitude towards each and every lesson. I give so much credit for the first time pass to Darren, thank you for making me feel safe, confident and teaching me to believe in myself.

Fantastic experience: First not sure who mp_rider is, but clearly got his driving instructors mixed up! Ignore IT. My daughter passed her test today after a series of lessons with Darren, first time, zero minors. The stats show only 1 person in 120 people past first time with a perfect test. On this basis alone, clearly a fantastic instructor, and I know because he suggested to her I came out to learn myself what is being taught these days on one of her lessons. And I learnt alot which really helped me for when I took her out. You can never give guarantees to pass first time of course, but I tell you, your chances massively increase with Darren. Fantastic experience: Fantastic instructor. Darren's lessons pushed me to not only succeed in my practical test, but to also become a safe driver after having passed first time. I fully recommend Darren as a driving instructor and I can't imagine doing my lessons with anyone else.

Fantastic experience: After having had some poor lessons with a previous instructor, I came to Darren being able to drive but not at a good level. After some lessons with Darren, I was able to book a test and pass it with Darren's help. A great driving instructor and so would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I met Darren after being introduced through a friend, I had 20 hours of cheep lessons with another instructor witch at the time seemed like a good deal but I was not progressing and being told to book a test and failing. I learned moor with Darren in 3/4 hours than in 15 with the previous. Darren's polite friendly & always professional, I was soon up to pass standard and passed first time. I have recommended him several times and all are happy, thank you Darren learning to drive safely and confidently has enabled me to get a new job thanks. Dean.
