Carol’s School of Motoring

Negative experience: My wife had driving lessons with Carol, after moving here from the US, and had possibly the worst experience possible. Carol was a disrespectful, unprofessional and generally incompetent driving instructor. Would constantly belittle my wife during lessons, even though she was already a competent driver, having driven for 8 years in a different country. She routinely will make you drive to other students houses to pick them up during your lesson, and make them/ you sit in the backseat. My wife even had to get out of the car and get into Carol’s husbands car at the end of a lesson because they were out of time, and then her husband drove my wife home. She then switched to another instructor, who was amazing, and passed first time after a few lessons. Avoid this instructor at all costs.

Negative experience: Waste of time and hard earned money

Positive experience: Found Carol friendly, punctual and patient, passed second time round. All good

Negative experience: SHE NEVER ARRIVED FOR MY DRIVING TEST. I would NOT recommend going with Carol. She’s rude, inappropriate, patronising, racist, unprofessional, always late, pessimistic and unreliable. She’ll drive you to her house every lesson she possibly can and leave you sat there for 20 minutes… as a paying customer. She’ll make you drive other students around and then talk about them behind their backs (and probably do the same to you). She won’t practice manoeuvres until last minute… she never even taught me the emergency stop- I had to learn from YouTube. She’ll tell you all about her marital issues, Cat issues and House issues, one time had to pick her alcoholic husband back to YMCA in Cheltenham… my test is in Gloucester (not that I ever sat it). Always on her phone when students drive and never had any encouraging things to say, made me feel like the worst driver in the world, when actually it’s perfectly normal to be making little mistakes as a student. She’ll tut, roll her eyes and shake her head at you, I asked her to stop doing that, she’ll stop doing it for a few mins and go back to doing it again. Don’t be fooled by the 5* ratings, I don’t believe them at all.

Negative experience: This driving Instructer is the absolute worst and said I wasn’t test standard and wanted me to do another 20 hours and that she would cancel my test if I didn’t. 5 days later without anymore lessons passed first time. She was constantly on her phone showing me photos and video of her cats whilst in traffic and constantly going on about her cat shows. I did 7 hours with her and provided a taxi service for her husband, her friend and other students. She is very rude, disrespectful, patronising, racist and is a very very Royally rubbish Instructer. All thanks to my mum and my mum only for getting me test ready not this ridiculous scamming cat lady.

Negative experience: Save your time, money and mental health by not booking with Carol. By far the worst driving instructor I have had by a mile! She was very rude, patronising and when I asked her questions she would reply in a belittling way which made me anxious to learn. I called her out on her behaviour which put her in place for about 10 minuets and then she went back to her aggressive self. Also I booked 20 hours through pass me fast scheme, which she then got my hours mixed up meaning I would have a remaining 4 hour lesson on my test day which I was not happy about! She slagged off her other students and went on her phone while I was driving. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: After having a disastrous experience with my first driving instructor, I found Carol's driving and I'm glad I did. Carol was a fantastically detailed instructor who was not only patient but thorough throughout every lesson I had. I passed my test on my first attempt and I can not recommend Carol enough!! A big five stars

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Carol highly enough. She has the patience of a saint and is very thorough. I passed first time with no faults, which has to say something about her skills as an instructor! Thank you Carol, so so much!

Negative experience: Whilst waiting for Carol on my first lesson I had to wait 40 minutes past the arranged time and when she arrived I was confused to see another student in the drivers seat? I presumed she lived in the same area as me but when she got into the back of the car I was even more puzzled, I have been learning to drive for just over a year so having someone in the back wasn’t too bad for me but I can imagine for a new starting leaner driver this could be a very nerve wracking and uncomfortable experience, I then continued to drive the student home and then drove to pick someone else up, who we then drove to her automatic car so this student could then drive me home! I was very puzzled! The way she spoke to me was in a very abrupt and rude manor and for someone like me who is very cheerful and chatty I found this experience very uncomfortable and unprofessional as she seemed to moan about her other students to me and other completely irrelevant subjects as well as being more interested in her phone that my driving, also when I contacted her to say I had decided to no longer continue with lessons in a polite way and thanked her for her time she replied with a blunt ok, which for me I felt was strange as I would’ve thought she would want to know why exactly I didn’t want to carry on with lessons.

Negative experience: Waste of time! I have been waiting over 40 minutes for Carol Tryed ring Her few times ,eventually when she answered she was very rude! Not recommended at all Very unprofessional and unhelpful service Just lost money and time

Fantastic experience: Thank you Carol for getting me through my practical test first time! I highly recommend Carols School of Motoring as an instructor, very clear explaintions, straight to the point and gets it done. Very pleased, definitely would recommend to first time drivers!

Negative experience: Haven't had he dis-pleasure of learning with her, but seeing her beep and swear at drivers on a Cheltenham road and do 40+mph up a 30 road is not what you'd expect to see from a driving instructor. Word of advice: don't be an awful driver when you have your DRIVING INSTRUCTOR BUSINESS plasted on the side of your car.

Negative experience: She got me started but she was always very rude and had a very impatient and aggressive attitude. She always seemed to not want me to continue and was more interested in her phone then focusing on my driving :/ wouldn't recommend.

Fantastic experience: Excellent instructor. Clear and concise when teaching. Passed first time with Carols support. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: When ringing Carol to find out about starting lessons with her, she was very rude and abrupt. She replied with one word answers and did not seem interested in having me drive with her at all, she seemed angry and frustrated which is not what i would want from a driving instructor. Wouldn't bother.
