Fantastic experience: Past my test first time. Great driving instructor, teaches you how to drive safely and properly as well as ensuring your ready for your test. I'll highly reccomend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: My daughter learnt to drive with Bill. She is naturally very nervous and lacks confidence but Bill had great patience with her and was very thorough each lesson. Fantastic experience: Bill Rowland is an excellent driving instructor. I had two one-hour lessons every week with Bill for six months and passed on my first attempt, with three ‘minors’. He is patient, polite, experienced, and professional. He knows the roads of Trafford like the back of his hand and the same can be said for his knowledge of local history. His lessons, as a result, were a wealth of information and extremely enjoyable. I could not recommend Bill enough.

Fantastic experience: My grandson recently passed his driving test with Bill first time. Bill tailored his driving lesson to suite his progress and introduced him to additional techniques as the lessons continued. Anything he felt he was not up to speed on, or unsure off Bill revisited until both Bill and my grandson felt confident that the concept had been mastered. He was always punctual and ensured that that you had the full hour lesson you had booked.

Fantastic experience: I recently passed my driving test with Bill and I can safely say he was a brilliant instructor. Prior to Bill I had two other instructors who constantly made me feel tense and paranoid of making any minor error, Bill was the complete opposite. He had a calm and relaxing teaching style which made me feel at ease right away and I rapidly progressed with him. Not only is Bill a great driving instructor, he’s also a genuine, kindhearted individual who I viewed more as a friend as opposed to a teacher. I would definitely recommend the Rowland School of Motoring to anyone of any age learning to drive!

Fantastic experience: I was taught by Bill many years ago now, but have fond memories of my lessons. Bill is a fantastic driving instructor. Very clear and concise and patient when instructing. Very personable and puts you at ease too. I’d definitely recommend Bill and will be contacting him when my son reaches 17.

Fantastic experience: Bill was a great driving instructor for me. In my first lesson I told him I was nervous and he was very accommodating. My nerves quickly disappeared after the first few lessons, as Bill had a very calming affect, by having conversations while driving and calmly telling me where I was going wrong. He gradually introduced me to more advanced driving concepts as the lessons progressed. Anything I was unsure of, a particular roundabout, manoeuvre or junction, he would always revisit if I asked him; he tailors his plan to you and your driving ability. When he assesses your driving, he does so in the same way that examiners do. This is key, as it prepares you for the language that will be used in your test. I would strongly recommend Rowland School of Motoring.

Fantastic experience: Bill is an absolutely fantastic driving instructor! I passed my test with Bill 20+ years ago and was delighted when my daughter was about to turn 17 this year to find out that Bill was still teaching! I wouldn't have wanted my daughter to be taught by anybody else. Such a lovely person as well! Highly recommended!!!

Negative experience: Bigotry: Bill made negative racial remarks about black people during our first lesson, bragged about pulling a Muslim student's headscarf off in the second, and tried to poke his nose into my romantic life as time went on (I was a nervous teenage girl at the time). Remarks on my personal style were commonplace. Teaching: Bill ridiculed me when I made mistakes, and made me feel embarrassed to ask questions. He gave little indication about the state of my progress and didn't really seem to have a plan. Organisation: Bill was late multiple times and made me drive to his house as he'd forgotten something. I remember wasting 15 minutes of one lesson waiting for him to come back outside. Value: After several blocks of lessons without much improvement, I felt that he was trying to squeeze money out of me and quit driving with him. Having learned to drive since, I've realised how wrong all of this was. A driving instructor should never make you feel uncomfortable. I wish I had tried a different instructir much sooner. I could not recommend Bill O'Malley / Rowland school of motoring less! *Edit in response to Bill's reply*: I do not see what could possibly be gained from discussing the above with you. Clear lines were crossed, and I have no motive to lie about my experiences. A review from someone else 3 years ago also touches upon the same problems.

Fantastic experience: Bill Is a fantastic Instructor who got me through my test first Time, he goes out of his way to make sure you have the knowledge and practical skills to give you the best chance of success first time round all for a decent price. Also my lessons were enjoyable always having a laugh about one thing or another the hour used to fly by all in all I can’t thank Bill enough for getting me through first time.

Fantastic experience: Bill was the only driving instructor who made me feel comfortable, and I didn’t feel pressured or judged when I made mistakes. He is very patient, and has lots of stories to tell. I will be doing my lessons with him again once lockdown has lifted!

Fantastic experience: I started taking lessons with Bill after I was unable to pass my test. When I started with Bill he did a thorough analysis of my skills and then proceeded to guide me in the lessons. He was always punctual arriving on the dot - something I valued. Bill proved to be an excellent teacher. You could feel relaxed and was very friendly. However he focused on the lessons and made sure that you work well and learn good skills throughout the lesson. He gave attention to details and always guided me to improve. I always felt comfortable in asking if there was something I did not understand. The proof of the pudding was that I passed my exam and feel very confident in driving. I would highly recommend Bill if you are looking for a good driving instructor.
