City Driving Academy

A calm and personalised approach from a DVSA-approved instructor

City Driving Academy is a Nottingham-based school founded in 2005, specialising in automatic driving tuition delivered by Kathryn, a fully qualified and DVSA-approved female instructor. The academy’s philosophy centres on creating a friendly, professional, and positive atmosphere where every lesson is carefully adapted to the student’s individual pace and learning style.

Alumni consistently highlight Kathryn’s exceptional ability to put nervous learners at ease. Her patient and encouraging manner transforms initial anxiety into genuine confidence, while her clear explanations and structured sessions ensure that students never feel rushed or criticised when making mistakes. Instead, errors are treated as valuable learning opportunities, allowing pupils to progress steadily toward their driving test.

Structured training with practical tracking and theory support

Beyond the car, the academy provides a comprehensive learning framework designed to keep students informed of their progress. Every learner receives a personal record book to monitor skill development, making it easy to visualise improvement from the very first session. Lessons are meticulously planned to target specific areas of weakness, and instructors regularly assess progress to adjust the focus accordingly.

To ensure complete preparation for the official examination, the school also offers dedicated guidance for the Theory and Hazard Perception tests. This holistic approach means students can walk into their practical exam well-prepared, with a solid understanding of both the technical and mental aspects of driving.

• Personal progress record book for transparent skill tracking
• Targeted lesson planning focused on individual weaknesses
• Integrated preparation for the Theory and Hazard Perception tests

Many pupils achieve their licence within a few months of intensive or regular lessons.

For those who have already passed their driving test, City Driving Academy also provides PassPlus courses. These advanced sessions build confidence for real-world driving scenarios, such as motorway travel and complex manoeuvres, ensuring that new drivers are well-equipped for independent motoring. Lessons are conducted on a strict one-to-one basis in reliable automatic vehicles, guaranteeing undivided attention and full session time.
