Fantastic experience: Two day course with Matt from Ipswich. Who was friendly, chatty and made my experience very positive from start to finish. Is a credit to the company and has exceeded my expectations. 05/09 - 06/09. Passed first time with 0 driving faults which I can only thank Matt for helping me along the way. Lewis Arnold in St Albans who conducted my manoeuvre test was again very friendly and made me feel relaxed during this part of the assessment.

Fantastic experience: Lewis was my instructor through my Class 1 license and he was incredible. First time pass with only a couple of minors due to me having a brain fart moment! Would recommend 100%

Fantastic experience: Great overall experience. My instructor Lewis was very experienced, informative, and encouraging when getting me through my C1 qualification.

Negative experience: Don’t use this people. I have done class 2 training with them in last year dec 2022. My training was ok. But my driving test got cancelled because bad weather. They charge me £300 more. I paid them already £1500 for my training and test. Darren told me I will get refund from DVLA. This two guys on phone Darren and Alec very route to me. Specifically Darren he don’t know how to speak with people. After 6 months of waiting DVLA answers me back June 2023. They said they can’t refund my claim because of bad weather. They said bad weather is not DVLA fault. I m 100% sure J coats know all about this. But they only care about taking ours money. My friend done his training with HUGE in Luton. His test got cancelled but he did not paid any think to his school. Please guys don’t use them. I know some people book their holidays and book room in hotels to stay close to training centre. They all don’t get refunds. I hope this help you guys. Best look with your training and future.

Fantastic experience: Started off with 1 day training and test for the reversing exercise (can’t remember the instructors name) but having never driven a lorry before, the instructor was patient, professional and coached and guided me through the whole manovure to ensure I passed the test later that day! Done my class 2 on the road training with Kevin Draper- He was professional, friendly and a great instructor, he quickly helped me get comfortable with driving a rigid truck, pointed out my flaws (and got me to quickly correct them) and managed to get me through my test in less then 4 days can’t be greatful enough Finally returned for my mod 4- which I had the pleasure of being taught by tristan-it was a few hours of classroom training and some practical demonstrations, tristan made this all the more bearable with lots of banter, some personal expirences thrown in and just an overall enjoyable day (as enjoyable as classroom training can be) All the instructors exceeded expectations! All a credit to the company & industry and should be paid more then they are! Thank you guys

He is a spot on guy he made sure I was full engaged during the training making sure I was always a step ahead of the other road users. He also made the who experience calm and enjoyable. Fantastic experience: Great bunch of guys working here. Just did my CPC Mod 4 and passed no trouble. Easy place to find with loads of parking. Will be doing my class 1 with them soon and can't wait!

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank Adam for his great mentoring who got me prepared for my Class 2 driving test, which I have passed from 1st attempt. My step brother completed his training (Class 2 + Class 1) with J Coates a few years ago and recommended them to me. Friendly & positive approach to training. Reasonable price, and tidy fleet. Definitely recommend.

Negative experience: Couldn't fault my instructor John, however other employees within the business found it necessary to pass judgement and comment on clothing I was wearing. Deeming leggings and a top inappropriate and that shorts would be more appropriate. The company made me feel extremely uncomfortable.Complaint made and nothing from it, nor my instructor being asked about the comments to discipline the members of staff. Retest was also forgotten to be booked so had to wait longer for a retest. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Completed my C1 this week, John was my instructor, very knowledgeable and Calming. Everyone at St Albans was very friendly. Thank you!

Negative experience: Failed to do what they said they would do, sent me to some dodgy "doctor" in a rusty van for my medical that the DVLA refused to recognise. They didn't bother to even attempt to resolve the matter just ran off with the money. Steer well clear of them!

Fantastic experience: Just booked a HGV Medical via J Coates with Doctors on Wheels. I spoke with Darren who was extremely helpful. He explained the process and offered me several different times and locations to suit me. £53 during the week or £61 at the weekend. Better than the £110 at my GP.

Fantastic experience: Got my CE at 1st attempt with st albans branch. Downs :main office lazy( 3 days to answer an email) class 2 exams in Enfield(long wait if U fail). Ups: pass protection (3 attempts for 450£, U get 200£ back if U pass 1st time. Takes about 2 days to get Your money back), my instructor Adam, thanks again, good training, sorry to hear U leaving to Hughes, good luck.
