DTC Driving Test Car Hire

Fantastic experience: Passed my driving test today, DTC booked the test and provided car instructor all reliable and quick. Did have some issues with the team but we got there in the end ;) THANKYOU!!!

Negative experience: I hired this service a week before my exam, they made me pay 149 to secure the service, two days before my exam I decided to take some classes, they told me that I was not ready to take the exam and that they were not going to accompany me with the car for the day of my exam and that I should get a car on my own, I had to cancel it at the last minute now with no option for a refund, I spoke with them about what would happen now that I did not take it and if I could have my refund, they practically told me that the money is lost and that they were not going to refund me anything when on the page it says that they do not give a refund if I cancel the service when at no time was it like that they told me no

Negative experience: Do not recommend.

Negative experience: I would give zero star if possible - this driving school is a total rubbish. I spent £620 on the intensive driving courses, and they compulsively allocated an instructor who I was not satisfied with. The instructor complained my test center was far away so he requested me to come to his home area, instead of my test route to take courses, and also asked me to pay course fees in advance. I felt wrong so I called DTC to ask them to allocate another instructor for me. However, they claimed their service had completed as their duty was only to allocate an instructor for me. After the allocation, they had no responsibility to provide any further assistance no matter how this instructor performed. What a smart way to rob money swiftly and legally! Just to allocate a random driving instructor to your customer and you will get an instant £285!

Fantastic experience: Trustworthy, delivers as promised I had to find a car and instructor 6 days before my test, because I booked an early slot not suitable to my instructor's schedule. DTC answered promptly and assigned me a professional. 3 days before the test, the professional cancelled, and DTC promptly called me and assigned another instructor + car. I had issues to get the refund from the first guy and DTC took care of it as soon as I asked for help. Could not be more satisfied. Summary: great service, trustworthy and very efficient. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I booked a car for my driving test in Sidcup and Ray Reid was an extremely positive and reassuring instructor. He showed me around the neighbourhood before the test and I easily got used to the car (there is a small issue with gas pedal but it was fine). I can’t imagine a better instructor one or two hours before the test because of Ray’s positivity

Negative experience: Terrible Service. Paid £209 for test hire. Waited outside test center for 2 hours. Called DTC with no answer back. So I lost a spot that waited 3 months for along with the £60 to book the test. Then they only give me back £50 from the £209 they stole from me.

Positive experience: Stuart Baker is an excellent instructor with precise knowledge of Winchester roads...his guidance was crucial for me to pass the test under torrential rain and limited visibility conditions. The car was perfect for taking the test. Would like to recommend him and DTC for anyone taking the test there.

Fantastic experience: Booked a last minute car hire for my practical driving test at Borehamwood with DTCUK. Rani Gadday was my instructor who was on time and gave me lot of last minute tips. She was pleasant enough to check with me many times for any manoeuvre that I would like to practice to get comfort. The car she provided was brand new Swift which was small and handy for the driving test. Overall I am very happy with the excellent service and Yay I cleared my test in the first try!

Negative experience: I should have taken the prior review as an indication not to go ahead. If you are unlucky enough to receive Frank Chan as your car hire, ask to change and if it doesn't work, forego the deposit and test fees. He has been the most unpleasant driving experience I've ever had. Uses his controls to make it seem like you don't know how to drive and makes all sorts of negative comments minutes before a test that you've prepared for to throw you off. Word of advice, if you're going with this company and you receive him as your instructor, just take it as a loss.

Negative experience: The booking experience was good, all went smooth but I was unlucky enough to get Frank Chan as my emergency instructor. First of all he was almost 10 minutes late to our pre-exam lesson. He told me to look out for a car with a banner saying Elephant Driving School and then he arrives without a banner (he installed it after arriving) and he rushed me to go in the car without even a proper greeting. He was a bit weird to say the least, laughing to himself, making fun of my driving, I know I am not the perfect driver, but having someone mocking me next to me when I am driving definitely doesn't help!! Needless to say that I got quite stressed out during this preparatory session that was supposed to be helpful but it wasn't!! Apart from all that, the car he arrived in was a diesel, which I haven't driven before and also it was a 2 door car so it was smaller from the one I was used to, so I needed a bit of practice with the reverse parking and bay parking as the reference points were different - and he couldn't help himself to keep telling me what a terrible driver I was even though I told him I was trying to figure out the new reference points and that I didn't have experience with a diesel before that was a bit harder changing the gears. He just kept mocking me, honestly this is not the way you should treat someone just before a test!... The car was dirty and not pleasant to drive in. I wanted to adjust the side mirrors, but he didn't let me as he said the small blind spot mirrors he installed are all I need and there is no need for further adjustment. Once we practiced as much as we could in the limited time we had we drove back to the test centre, but he didn't time it properly so we were also slightly late for the test (despite the fact I was supposed to be there 5 minutes before) so I could see the examiner being a bit impatient. I tried to compose myself and keep and positive outlook. I failed with 6 minor faults and my major fault was the fact that I missed the bus lane at Mitchell way in Bromley, I had never practiced that part and this is a short bus lane turning left as you approach from Station Road. The reason I am mentioning this is to prove that I am not such a terrible driver! I drove the full test almost 40 minutes even though Frank mocked me and said that I might be back in 5 minutes! Only at the very end after my test Frank told me that I am not such a bad driver, that he thinks I am 6 lessons away from being ready and that he could help me with that. So the only reason he said it was to sell his services to me. Thank you very much but I don't like a teacher that can't stop mocking me during our lesson. This is not the service I paid £159 for. I am very very disappointed and I do believe that if I had a different instructor that day maybe I would have passed my test. In response to the comment below: Yes, Frank told me he has 40 years experience of being a driving instructor and you know what else he told me? That he is tired! Do you think this is something appropriate to say while on a lesson? No wonder his services are so bad if he is tired and not even hiding it!

Negative experience: they booked a date for me that did not suit me and when I didn't agree , they cancelled completely my test and they didn't give me back my initial date and they didn't even change the test to a later date , so now I have to book and pay again for a new test at a date 4 months after my booked test . be careful when you give them your details , they are really unprofessional and sketchy

Fantastic experience: Great last minute help!!! In the end I was so glad that my original instructor cancelled on me. Rani was a very calming influence whose helped me so much when it was time for me to take my test. She would point out in a very calm, helpful manner where I was lacking and making mistakes and would explaing what I should be doing to improve. I had an hour's practice session with her in her car (a very beautiful, in mint condition easy car to drive) before my test and immediately felt confident that I could pass my test, despite my nervousness. Fantastic experience: Excellent! Rani picked me up and gave me a hour lesson before hand. I hardly checked my mirrors. Rani assured me and told me I had to look every 10 secs and through out the test that's all I remembered and I passed. She's a STAR!!! Definitely Recommend!!!!
