Negative experience: Money orientated and very expensive. There was no chance we were going to get on with this guy. Money upfront suggests that you thought we wern't going to pay !!! Update after response from the business: No, you are the right instructor and no its not irrelevant to you as you've responded. A suspicious, condescending attitude on top of your inflated price was an upsetting experience for a few trips around the block. cheers Further update in repsonse to the business replying again. Your policy is yours. It doesnt mean its good prcatice or moral. You are one of the professions, where prices have doubled post covid making it near to impossible for prospective students to afford. Along with the long wait for driving tests makes it even more so. We need more instructors so that prices can come dow , after all fuel prices are almost back at pre covid levels. You are just benefing from a shortage of instructors and high demand.

Positive experience: Good instructor was taught for about 7 months before moving onto another instructor in which I was taught by for 2 months, and passed second try. I found doing the basics were easy to understand with his teaching, and was nice to be able to have banter with someone as apposed to someone super serious. Also got picked up from Uwe sometimes, so very accommodating. Also found that he did try to teach you not just for the test but for life. Only room for feedbacks is giving maybe some video homework for students to do outside of lesson time, as I found doing this helped me to really further my skills such as finding blockers on roundabouts and understanding the theories further. Another thing to point was I noticed sometimes was late by 5-10min and time wasn’t always made back. However, overall a good instructor and would recommend, had methods to help me with understanding things such as with a little mini car as a visual, or getting out the car to show me what it meant by not being able to see my blind spot through just my mirrors.

Fantastic experience: Amazing driving instructor. Took the time to explain things properly. Helped me thoroughly understand what I needed to do. Patient, definitely recommend. Also, got me super confident at turning right on roundabouts when my previous instructor hardly made me go right so never got confident. Passed first time thanks to his instruction!

Fantastic experience: Excellent driving instructor, just moved to the Bristol area and had 6 hours of lessons to touch up my skills before returning home to sit my exam. Received some great tips which helped me pass my test first time. Highly recommend as I had a great experience and don’t think I would’ve passed without Akobor driving school.

Fantastic experience: Akbor is a very good instructor, he is always patient, polite and friendly with me. He tries his best to explain things to make sure I fully understand how everything works. I appreciate how much efforts he puts in to my every single driving lesson. He is a good laugher too, we always have a good time during driving. I would highly recommend him to anyone who would like to have driving lessons before the test.

Negative experience: Firstly, I think Akbor is a really nice person I just don’t think his teaching style works for me. Positives. - I’d say for the most part you get your money’s worth. - He’s flexible to extra lessons or taking a break from lessons during holidays etc. - He’s also very prepared. He always has a clear idea of what the lesson will focus on and documents improvement points for the following lesson. The downsides… - Personally, I don’t think his car is a great choice for a first time driver to learn in. The accelerator is sensitive, I found the biting point a lot harder to get than other cars I’ve driven, and it’s also a big car. Overall it feels like a car an experienced driver would have, not a beginner. Additionally, the car is new and more expensive than the average banger you’d expect to drive at a driving lesson. This honestly just made me fear damaging the car more than focusing on learning to drive, which developed to a point that I became a nervous driver. Which is fiercely out of character based on lessons I’ve had with my dad and a prior instructor. They’d both attest that I’m not an anxious driver at all. (I only stopped with the instructor before Akbor because I moved 200 miles across the country). - There’s far too much time spent on talking. I’m all for analysing where I’ve gone wrong, and certainly in the beginning because you’re new to driving and it’s essential to prove to the instructor that you understand the basics. But in my opinion the amount of times we had to pull over to talk was excessive. This definitely led to me becoming more infuriated as you’re constantly being asked to pull over for a conversation that’s identical to the one you had 5 minutes ago. It’s like constant deja vu. - When I asked to approach a lesson differently, I was immediately told no. I don’t think asking to do a manoeuvre after 10 lesson is unreasonable and it definitely shouldn’t have been met with the negativity that it was. - When I asked when I would realistically be able to take my test, I found the responses very vague and negative. I thrive more so on positive engagement and target setting, so this attitude really didn’t suit me at all. - I did end up switching instructors to one with a learning style to my preference. Albeit my new instructor not wanting to criticise Akbor, they found a lot of discrepancies in what I was told and taught to a point that they were always correcting behavioural issues to make me unlearn bad habits. Had these continued I would have ended up with several minor faults that would have led to a major. - I’m a really quick learner. I’ve been told this my entire life that I catch on quickly, but when learning with Akbor, I made the same mistakes over and over again. Latest feedback from my new instructor is, and I quote, “you fix problems really quickly”. So why didn’t I under Akbor? I believe that’s down to teaching style, so take from that what you will. For the reasons above, I left lessons extremely frustrated and upset. I couldn’t see an end and I wasn’t seeing any progress. Hence Akbor and I decided to part ways and discontinue lessons together. I will add that it was Akbor’s suggestion that I look for a new instructor. He didn’t, at any point, make me feel tied down, despite having paid for lessons well in advance. So, if you do opt to learn with Akbor, you do have assurance that if it doesn’t work out, there will be no hard feelings if you decide to walk away. Overall if you prefer regimented and strict, Akbor may be the ideal instructor for you. Unfortunately, I need to be able to make safe mistakes in order to learn and correct them going forward, which isn’t Akbor’s style. I wish Akbor the best. It’s clear he’s passed other drivers and received brilliant feedback from other learners. So, his teaching obviously works for other people, but one of those people wasn’t me unfortunately!

Fantastic experience: This is by far, the best driving school with the best instructors. When I called Akbor driving school, I was in dire need. I had already failed my driving test twice in 2022 with another instructor. I couldn’t understand why I kept failing. The Akbor driving school instructor listened to my concerns over the phone and scheduled a lesson within 24hrs. We had an initial 2hr session during which the instructor assessed my driving and came up with a plan. Every lesson was amazing. Unlike my previous instructor who kept telling me what to do, the Akbor driving school instructor taught me how to think, ultimately making me a better driver. The Akbor driving instructor’s teaching style is excellent, silently watching, listening and accessing, gave me time to make decisions and always highlighted what I did right and corrected me when I made mistakes. Before every session, there was a reminder of what I learnt in the previous lesson and a discussion on what we would focus on during the session. There was no stone unturned and I was taught everything. I felt like I had someone who was vested in my success. I am extremely grateful to Akbor driving school because I passed my test the first time with Akbor driving school. I would recommend Akbor driving school over and again. Thank you once again Akbor Driving School!

Would definitely recommend, a patient approach and got me to pass first time. Also focuses on safe driving as a whole; teaches to drive safely, not just how to drive to pass the test. Negative experience: Spent more of lesson time talking about how I felt towards driving and rating myself out of 10 on certain parts of driving. this did not benefit me as a learner who learns doing things not talking about them. Did not get enough driving time for the amount I paid. This led to me being very frustrated when driving. Overall not happy with the service and me and the instructor will not be continueing lessons together.
