Negative experience: AVOID ! AVOID ! AVOID ! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Wow you really are an angry little man aren’t you. Shouting profanities and throwing the v sign like it’s going out of fashion at people all whilst having a learner driver in the vehicle. If you paid clearer attention to the road signs that are in front of you and not being an angry little man, you would see signs ahead of you stating that roads are closed making people attempt to merge into other lanes. I think you need to go to anger management classes! Not only that you need to clearly show students an exemplary manner of driving behaviours, not the way you do. Which is basically telling people road rage is ok to do. 69.5% of drivers experience road rage but you should know this as an instructor. You are an appalling excuse of an instructor!

Negative experience: I don’t think I’ve ever left a negative review before, but I’ve been left with a real sour taste in my mouth after my experience dealing with Peter. I’m generally a positive person & I can handle criticism, but when people start swearing at you and belittling you it can be pretty hard to take in the actual critique because it comes with a real disrespectful attitude. & he 100% believes it is totally okay to communicate with someone this way, what all the negative reviews say about him were my exact experience too! So I know I’m not crazy. My advise would be get a small package first and see if you can handle his attitude before making any big purchases. Best of luck!

Fantastic experience: Peter is an excellent instructor with an obvious extensive knowledge of how to drive safely as well as pass the test. I managed to pass first time and wouldn’t have been able to without Peter. If you are looking for a driving instructor then look no further

Negative experience: Please think twice before thinking on booking your motorcycle lessons with this horrible little man!!! I lasted 1 day and didn’t/couldn’t go back, I went home feeling awful and couldn’t bring myself to return to continue the course , resulting in losing £££’s of pounds. His manner is absolutely disgusting and his son scott isn’t much better. Good luck if you do decide to go but you will thank me.

Fantastic experience: I recently completed my cbt and A2 licence with Peter and Scott. Both of them are excellent instructors, very skillful and experienced riders with alot of knowledge to pass on. The quality of there bikes is great with all of them being modern and maintained, easy to ride and comfortable. They don't mess you about or try to drag anything out, they just teach you how to ride safely and confidently. They both have a great priority on safety and constantly pay full attention to the riders with them. Even though they are so focused with there training they both manage to make it all enjoyable and have a laugh while doing it. Regardless of what licence your planning on doing (or even a couple lessons as a refresher after a long break from riding) just give them a ring and get it done. Can't recommend them high enough.

Fantastic experience: I have recently passed my Mod 1 & 2 with no minors thanks to the training provided by Peter and Scott. You will find when you are out on the road riding that Peter and Scott have different training styles, with one being more patient than the other….won’t mention names , but the training they provide is excellent and you can have good banter along the way

Fantastic experience: Recently passed after completing a Direct Access course which includes everything from bike hire, cbt, theory, mod 1 and mod 2. Majority of the 15 hours training I had was with Peter who is very informative with a lot of knowledge who teaches you his way. Mod 1 training I had with Scott who has a different style of training and breaks everything down so it's easy to remember. With a mixture of both instructors it worked well. Thanks for getting me through.

Negative experience: Scott (specifically) is an excellent instructor - he is patient and encourages you to stay safe & effective on the road. He shows you how to be vigilant but not cautious and can spot differences in ability when you're riding in trios and adapts accordingly. He will push you to improve and learn but never too far. Thanks to him (again, specifically) and his skill, good communication and patience, I passed my Mod 1 and Mod 2 (after a brief hiatus in training) with one minor across the two tests. It's clear he is a busy busy guy but he doesn't let this reflect in his approach to teaching. The polar opposite of every single point made above describes Peter. Star rating reflects the degree to which this affected the experience for me. My advice: ask for Scott and you'll be fine! Better than fine in fact.

Negative experience: As a new or inexperienced rider if you are lucky - you get his son to instruct you. If you are REALLY UNLUCKY, you get Peter who is the worst instructor I have ever had the misfortune to "work with." It's not for nothing that a lot of new starters are now making the trip to Newcastle to do their MBT instead of doing it in Carlisle. After that - go to the guy near Dobies instead - he's a really good instructor. Peter on the other hand has no manners, no customer care and simply wants a 1 day MBT done in 2-3 hours or you get shouted at or belittled for every mistake you make.

Fantastic experience: Great instructors. Passed first time!

Negative experience: Peter really is an angry little man who puts a huge amount of pressure on new riders. To shout and swear over the tannoy when out on the road for the first time is not only unsettling but downright dangerous!!! Scott on the other hand is much more patient and courteous

Fantastic experience: First class instruction from Peter and Scott. Learned things I hadn't considered. They go the extra mile for candidates. Thanks guys

Fantastic experience: Absolutely great! 10/10 first class service ensured I passed my CBT. My first time ever on a motorcycle. I was a bit shaky at first and couldn't balance properly but Scott was patient and worked with me throughout the course to build my confidence. I got the hang of it over time (quite quickly actually because of Scott) and had some extra time later to practice and get better. You start out in the class room with a briefing and lecture about safety, equipment, etc, then you're introduced to the bike itself and how to ride it. You start off in the car park with some basic manoeuvres like starting and stopping, loops, U-turns and figure of eights - quite a few other useful techniques too, and of course checking mirrors, being aware of your surroundings, etc. Next, you're out on the road right next to the centre, going up and down practising changing gears up and down. I was quite nervous about going out on the road fully (the final part of the training) - was doubting myself a lot and thought I'd never make it but once I was out there, it all came naturally. I had a few hiccups throughout but focused on everything I was taught, road signs and markings which ensured I, the vehicle and others remained safe. As a result, any anxiety I had before was made virtually non existent. I thought I'd be a nervous wreck focusing too much on what other people were thinking and therefore making a million mistakes but nope. As long as you focus solely on riding and being safe, that won't be an issue, and you will because you want to succeed! Scott was on the radio throughout the ride guiding us along and he was very clear and easy and to understand. Overall, I'm now feeling confident and able enough to ride by myself. I will definitely be back for my DAS. I might even do some car lessons at some point. If you're thinking about going for your CBT, just do it. You won't regret it. I also highly recommend knowledge of the Highway Code before you do the CBT. This will make you a safer driver and make the whole thing a lot easier, especially the 'on the road' part.

Negative experience: As a small mature lady rider i was recommended to look at Peter Cairns as he promotes himself as supporting smaller riders. My CBT training experience with him 2 months ago was not good - 3 in a class including 2 of us who had never ridden before with only 1 instructor working in an extremely small and rather claustrophobic yard area for our off road training. The results were inevitable and two bike drops later my nerves were frayed. My instructor and i mutially agreed that it would be better for me to go back and get a bit more practice before going on the road - a scenario which we had all been briefed about at the start of the day and which, while very disappointed, i agreed with. If that had been the end then this review would have had a few more stars. However what then happened was shocking - when i contacted to go back i was told by Mr Cairns that he would only complete my CBT if i agreed to cover the cost of any damage to his training bike. How can a TRAINING school think this is reasonable, moral or ethical? And no, i have not had a refund of the part of my CBT i did not do with him! So my advice is to read the small print VERY carefully, and dont believe his marketing materials.

Fantastic experience: Just passed my test with Peter. From the word go the training was structured, he filled out a complete diary of my 15 lessons and test dates. From start to finish it was three weeks and I am now street legal. When Peter wasn't instructing Tony took over. Both of them excellent instructors who want the best from you. Really couldn't recommend them enough. Thanks Peter Cairns motorcycle training

Fantastic experience: Excellent service, well tailored to the individual riders needs. I never thought id pass my mod 2 first time but with the experienced and supportive tuition i recieved i got through it. Lessons are well planned, the bikes are new and well kept and ideal for new or experienced riders. From a cbt to a direct access course id well recommend peter cairns motorcycle training. (And the heated grips are a god send if your doing it in the winter time!)

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic! Peter was remarkable with his patience and teaching. I went from being an anxious novice with no prior bike experience to achieving my CBT with a huge smile on my face! Amazing value too as I went with none of my own equipment so had to borrow helmet, gloves, vest plus bike from Peter’s range and it all looked like new and of great quality. Really chuffed with the entire experience and definitely recommend you look no further than here to book your CBT.
