Fantastic experience: My experience with Fantoni Driving School was excellent! I wholeheartedly recommend them. I passed my test on the first attempt. I am an older (39) driver who was nervous about starting driving lessons: it was a necessity after moving to a more rural area. The Fantoni Driving School gave me the support, instruction, and patience I needed. In case you are nervous or unsure what to expect, I have outlined my experience in the hope that it helps others like me. I was looking to complete intensive lessons as I wanted to pass my test and be road-worthy as soon as possible. My query was responded to within a couple of days. I then had a conversation with the school about what would be realistic for my needs, as I had to fit it around work commitments. We settled on a series of four-hour lessons, once a week. I had to wait a couple of months for these lessons to start simply because the Fantoni School was busy. My initial lesson was to gauge my skills as I had previously done a couple of lessons elsewhere. Once that was completed my instructor had a good perspective on my skill level. From that moment on I was taught in a systematic and empathetic way. New manoeuvres or situations were taught in a variety of ways - I was shown manoeuvres on an iPad first - My instructor would talk me through the manoeuvres, sometimes drawing out the situation on a notebook - We would sometimes reference the DVLA handbook when I had a specific question or to illustrate a point the instructor was making - Occasionally my instructor would demonstrate the manoeuvres with me in the passenger seat and talk me through the processes - Then I would undertake the manoeuvres under instruction until I could complete them independently If I kept repeating a mistake my instructor would try to understand why I was making the mistake, and my thought processes while I was making it. This was really helpful. I found the lessons varied, with a useful structure: revisiting previous lessons looking to improve skills and new material to develop new skills. At a certain point, I was encouraged to book my practical test. Once that was booked, our lessons were near the testing centre, following the routes and procedures that would likely come up on the test. After I became familiar with the area and routes my instructor would give me mock tests. Based on the results of these mock tests we would practice areas for improvement. Sometimes I would receive homework, to read up on a specific topic or watch a specific YouTube video so I would have a greater understanding of a topic. The morning of the test, my instructor picked me up over an hour before the test. This is a “warm-up” to get you comfortable before the test. At your test you will be driving your instructor's car, and you will be offered the option to have your instructor in the car while you take your test, but I declined this. You will also be offered to have your instructor there when you get your feedback which I accepted. Happily, I passed! Now that I have passed, I am choosing to use Fantoni Driving School for a couple of extra lessons to get more confident in my own vehicle. My experience with the Fantoni Driving School was extremely positive. It has turned me from someone who was dreading driving into someone who is looking forward to getting out there on driving adventures. I would recommend their service to anyone.
