Fantastic experience: Red Rose were extremely helpful all the way through my class 1 hgv training. They organise everything for you and keep in touch often with availability on theory and CPC tests. They also offer a 2 hour taster session in order to calculate the amount of hours training you would need, this was extremely helpful to ease you into driving when you come to do your lessons. I was lucky enough to have two trainers Bill (Preston) and Steve (Bolton) who helped me to get my bearings with the wagon and with me passing the test with only 3 minors the proof is in the pudding. Over all a 5 star service, I would not hesitate to use them again in the future for training!

It has always been a dream of mine to drive a class 1 hgv,& red rose have made this possible. Right from the first phone call enquiry, the staff were super helpful in all aspects of gaining my class 1 licence, from help with where to go for my medical,right through to arranging my taster lesson & working out how many hours training I needed. Not only have I passed but I have come away with knowledge and understanding which, in my experience, you don't always get from teachers.

Negative experience: After persuing my medical independently, as Red Roses on site Doctor only works part time early on week days making that service inaccessible to people working standard day hours, I was initially quoted 26 hours C+E training with Red Rose (what should have been a warning sign is that this examiner confided that ''the office staff did not think he quoted enough hours''), very shortly after I was informed over the phone that this training would have to be done intensively, with the whole lump sum due before the start date of £2,399 (excluding the starter pack and highlighted Driver CPC fees in the quote). Logistically this length of time off work was difficult, and with an investment of a significant amount of money as well, I did at least feel as if I would recieve the necessary training to secure the qualification at the end, after all it seemed likely that Red Rose would be able to adequately evaluate the training needs of it's customers to be able to offer a reasonable degree of confidence in success, and appreciate the considerable investment people are required to make in their programs to partake. The first week of my training under one instructor was spent predominantly driving less technical A-roads with mostly minimal cues and guidance. I took this to mean a reasonable degree of competance on my part already, however I did notice twice that my instructor mentioned that my second week would be spent with another instructor who would instruct me further if ''there was anything he had missed''. This was disconcerting as the possibility that all of this already limited time might not be being utilised to maximal effect was compromising for me, not least of which because of what it represented per hour financially. In the later half of the week we practiced for my reversing test on Friday which I was mostly happy with. However on my test date after performing what I believed was an almost flawless practice I was informed by the DVLA examiner that I had only just passed, having failed to perform certain observations about the vehicle that I had never practiced with my instructor. After this test I was taken by my second instructor down a series of more technical roads and collided narrowly with a piece of street furniture. I expressed at that time that this was not something I was happy with and that I felt considerable ground was left to cover in possibly insufficient time. He reassured me that I would be ready for my test the following week, I took his opinion to be more informed than mine given his experience. In the remaining three days of practice my second instructor would give me multiple cues and points of guidance I had not been offered the earlier week and now had to absorb quickly, steeeping the learning curve. Not wanting to risk the vehicle or the safety of other road users I defended against this by remaining conservative in moments of doubt, which I discussed at multiple points with my instructor who could only offer that I had to ''weigh that up with making progress'' but no real attempts at solutions other than to maintain the course of training. Whilst disappointing, it came by no suprise that on my road test date I would fail, the examiner highlighting the very areas I had been concerned about days and even hours prior. My instructor could however only offer commiserations, stating that he was ''sorry it was not meant to be on that day''. After the considerable time and financial investment made on my part and complete lack of interest from Red Rose in taking any corrective action prior to that point I'd expect my success to not simply come down to luck of the draw. I have reached out to Red Rose who have told me they are satisfied with these outcomes and that my options are to invest further in training with them or go my seperate way. As I am 90% of the way towards my goal I will continue on with training, however I will not be throwing hundreds or thousands more at Red Rose given their lack of investment in securing a positive outcome for their customers.

Fantastic experience: Cant recommend Redrose training enough! From the very first phone call, to my assesment and to passing my test! Class C+E test passed first time with no minors!!!! Huge thank you to Tom and john, the instructors! Very professional and taught me everything i needed to know! Thank you so much! Highly recommend this place to amyone wanting to learn hgv driver training! Brian, my examiner was wonderful too and a pleasure to drive for.

Fantastic experience: I don't write many reviews, but this one was a MUST ! - its a clear case of an old saying "Experience is something you cant buy" and Red Rose have a Truck Load of it from their years of service to the drivers out on the North Wests roads. In my experience the whole team show this at every stage of taking your HGV test, from the first call they steer you through the minefield and make the process so simple. I'm in danger of writing a long review, so I will sign off by saying they are the leaders if your going down this road 100%, they also have the ability to overcome any issues, like staff illness or vehicle breakdowns due to the size of the operation, which others cant. Negative experience: Great Training First Class, passed my class 2 first time. My issue is they forget to mention that you have ABSOLUTELY no chance of getting a job, quick to take your money. I have applied for over 80 jobs since January and still no luck, as every company even agencies require Experience. So Thanks again Red Rose for taking £2000 of me for nothing.

Fantastic experience: My whole experience from start to finish was excellent , from the ladies in the office who organised medicals theory and hazards tests , to John at the Penworthan site . John is an excellent trainer , highly recommended he really knows his stuff.. his calm nature helps you relax straight away .. his knowledge is second to none .. he got me through my Class2 in 16 hours with a perfect drive on test day with no faults .. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!

Positive experience: Frank was my instructor last week for my c+e he's a book of knowledge listen and learn and you'll have no trouble passing your test on test day like I did 1st time delighted with whole experience.

Negative experience: If you haven't started your HGV training with them from the beginning then dont bother phoning them. I have my class 2 and want to upgrade to class 1 and was told on the phone because I haven't done my training with them from the start they had to time for me. What a way to run a business.

Negative experience: Rang today 28/1/22 to be greated by the most unprofessional a##hole ive ever spoken to in my life. Enquiry in regards to test dates and if there were any available dates sooner than May, I explained I'd had a driving assessment with LTS but couldn't book my test until May. 19.5 training hours I was wold id need. Only to be told by the delightful woman on the phone that red rose doesn't want my money because I hadn't gone to them first. And that all their training and tests date were for loyal customers who came to them from the start. So I explained I would start from the beginning with them as a new customer and was still told NO WE DONT WANT YOUR CUSTOM....

Negative experience: Completely financially-focused. Not interested in your personal progression. Booked a driving assessment 2 weeks ago. Be mindful that we're currently in a COVID pandemic and thousands of people are unemployed, I was offered work for the day of this assessment, so called to reschedule the appointment. I was initially sent terms and conditions when I joined that made absolutely NO reference to rescheduling your appointment, only cancellation. I called today and was met with a "you'll be charged". Not interested in what anybody else said, not interested in their own terms and conditions, just "we'll charge you £25". What he was attempting to do is charge me an additional £25 cancellation fee, on top of the £25 I've already paid! Made zero sense and as a result, they've lost over £1000 in revenue. I'll also advise many of my class 2 colleagues to avoid them, meaning they'll lose much more. All for the sake of £25. The past 2 years have been disgusting for us all. So many of us have lost our jobs, livelihoods and are crying out for work. Not a whiff of empathy or understanding from this lot. Nice as pie until you pay them money, afterwards they couldn't care. I'd advise anybody looking for any HGV-related training to go elsewhere to a smaller and more independant company. You'll find that they treat you much better.

My instructor Frank is an absolute legend, made me feel relaxed and quickly built up my confidance driveing a large vehical through congested urban streets and narrow country lanes. Fantastic experience: Found John at Penworthham yard to be a great instructor for my class 2 lessons. He's very carm considering he puts his life on the line every day with us newbie's lol..I proper messed up my reversing on test day at no fault but my own. Fantastic experience: I passed my Class 2 today, I had my instruction with John at Penwortham. His tuition was fantastic, very helpful and knowledgeable and I would highly recommend him. Don’t look at the price, look at the tuition and the experience. Start to finish was less than 2 months even in the current situation.

Everyone at this company seems to really care about their role and you, whether that be the instructors or the guys in the phone at Bolton. Every one I spoke to was really friendly and helpful. I’m so glad I chose Red Rose for my training. I will certainly be using them again to complete class 1 licence

Fantastic experience: I did the full training package with red rose and it was an amazing price for CPC, ADR core tanks and packages, Forklift, Class 2 and Class 1.
