Fantastic experience: Two of my children have been taught by Josh and both passed first time. We’ve found his communication good and the app really useful. Bought children boy and a girl have felt comfortable with Josh and found his approach calm and helpful. They are completely different to each other and he adapted his style to suit their different needs.

Fantastic experience: Passed my test 2nd time (1st time with another instructor) with 3 minors. I had Josh for 4 lessons before my 2nd test and including the test as my usual instructor was away on hols. I found Josh through his YT channel, and found his roundabout videos very useful as well as his 'how to drive to pass your test' and driving examiner secrets videos. They really helped me on my first test and had only 1 major on a spiral roundabout. When I finally had lessons with him, we went over so many test routes and spiral roundabouts (Keele, Festival Park, Hanford) again and again and again to make sure I felt comfortable. Josh is really good at talking with you to understand any mental obstacles or misunderstandings you may have - certainly did for me and I felt clear about the test routes and where I was going wrong. We went round spiral roundabouts 3 or 4 times until I was clear where the lane markings were and could confidently go round. This was on the test so it felt great I had mastered them. Also before the test, Josh directed me through some side roads near the test centre - bizarrely - so did the instructor on the day! It was like I was being shown the answers before the exam! We also practiced manoeuvres several times so I was fine on those. As others have commented, the cost of the lessons are higher than others, but really happy with his teaching style and his knowledge of the test routes. Sooo relieved I finally passed! Thanks so much Josh!

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test first time with Josh! He's a brilliant driving instructor that truly gives you the confidence to drive independently. It took me a while to get test ready as I could only practice with Josh, but he was extremely encouraging and patient. He would really help me to keep going and not dwell on every mistake, powering forward and gaining confidence in my driving. Josh gave great constructive feedback and was honest about where I had to improve, helping to keep me focused on where my issues were. He has a knack for getting to the bottom of the problem, working with you to really understand the cause of the issue and targetting problem areas with plenty of practice. Practice makes perfect, and Josh was great at creating an environment where I could get perfect practice. Josh was also very good at picking up on when I was confused or unsure and always took the time to really make sure that I understood and could apply any core driving concepts and skills. I really enjoyed and looked forward to the lessons; Josh is very pleasant to drive with and has a great sense of humour! Aside from being a great instructor, he's very accommodating. Josh really cares about his students and was always prepared to go the extra mile to make sure that I could pass.

Fantastic experience: I began watching Josh's videos on Newcastle test routes and roundabouts, as well as his driving test tips and tricks, and they've been extremely beneficial. His easy-going and patient nature really stands out, which is essential for any learner. This is why I decided to reach out and schedule some driving lessons with him. What impressed me the most was how quickly he adapted his teaching style to suit my needs. He identified aspects I wasn’t even aware I was doing, providing me with the feedback I needed just in time for my test. His support throughout the entire process made a significant difference. Thanks to him, I’m excited to share that I've passed my test and have already taken my first few drives on the motorway. I highly recommend his guidance!

My learning was tailored to the my learning style and Josh identified areas which I struggled with and helped me lock in and focus on those areas in order to develop! Thanks to Josh’s help, I was able to pass my practical test first time despite being a slightly older driver at the time of learning and taking the test. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is looking to get driving sorted out.

Fantastic experience: I met Josh at a time when I was struggling to pass my driving practical test at the Newcastle-under-Lyme test center. From the very first mock test, Josh boosted my confidence and taught me several new techniques. His unique approach and light-hearted personality made learning to drive a much more enjoyable experience. I decided to change things up and booked my test at the Cobridge test center. Josh guided me through several test routes in the area, which helped me become more familiar with the roads and what to expect. Thanks to his expert guidance and support, I passed my test today with just two minor faults. Thank you, Josh, for your patience, encouragement, and excellent teaching methods!

Fantastic experience: Josh is an amazing driving instructor. You pay slightly more per lesson but my daughter has passed first time, with only 4 minors, just over 3 months after turning 17. So overall we have paid lots less than we did when my son had a different instructor. Josh kept me updated with how she was doing and how I could support her when she was practising in my car. Cannot recommend him enough.

Fantastic experience: Josh was my second instructor and i found his teaching style to be excellent and in comparison to other instructors to have a very up to date view of the driving test, also explaining exactly why we do certain things instead of just what to do so you leave a lesson feeling like you’ve learned how to drive well and not just to pass a test. His social media posts are also a very handy tool to keep learning out side of lessons. Josh was very reliable for lessons, super friendly, confidence boosting and made learning a more anxiety free experience ☺️

Fantastic experience: Josh was by far the best driving instructor I had. I was a learner with Josh for around 5 months due to my previous instructors retirement. In that time he ensured through every step I felt confident in my own abilities and gave clear guidance. What I also think is great about Josh is his social media platforms, YouTube and TikTok. In which in videos posted, he answered every possible question made by learners and made great resources before my practical. I passed first time with Josh and he always made time for my lessons!

Fantastic experience: I was recommended to Josh after having failed 2 tests due old habits from my previous driving experience coupled with unbearable nerves. I did a week's intensive with Josh, during this time he was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses and helped me learn how to approach the test day itself, whilst being able to contain the nerves. When test day came, I dealt with with confidence. I passed my test and couldnt believe it for a moment. Josh is friendly and punctual and I would recommend him as your driving instructor. Just a phone call to him was so reassuring; I could see him making all the adjustments he could to accommodate my driving needs. Josh is so knowledgeable in what he does. Principles! Yes, he used principles to explain and simplify every unclear area that I had with driving. This made it easy for me to understand many tricky driving concepts. Josh is so kind and patient. In fact, his charisma was very helpful in easing off the stress that occasionally came with my driving. Now I have passed my test with Josh! I will recommend Josh again and again! Fantastic experience: If you’re looking for a driving instructor to help you get to test standard, I can honestly say you can stop looking and just go with Josh !!! He is an amazing teacher who not only knows how to approach topics in the appropriate way, but he makes you become a realistic, confident driver. He doesn’t milk you for money like other instructors may do, he supports you when he needs to and puts you for that test when he knows you’re ready. All in all, I can say that the ten hours I had with Josh made me a better driver than the 30 I’d had with my previous instructor. Just book in !!!

Fantastic experience: I had 7 hours of lessons with Josh having mostly learned to drive with another instructor starting in August 2020. In that short space of time Josh helped me to nail my manoeuvres, amend some bad habits and feel comfortable driving his car, which helped me to pass my test first time. Josh is friendly and always open to questions, while giving great constructive criticism and allowing you to decide (within reason) what you want to cover in the lesson. I would highly recommend Toucan Driving School.

Negative experience: Josh takes on to many people. The 1st lesson my daughter booked with him last year he never turned up to, then she had a lesson we arranged how we were paying him (in blocks of 10 lessons) then lockdown happened but closer to 12th of April he got in touch and asked when she could do a lesson around her work, she told him then it was another 3 days before he got back in touch then he didn't even offer a date she said she could do, she managed to change her shift to have her lesson and he never even bothered to show up she waited half an hour rang him and he answered the phone saying who's this? Surely you should know your students. She asked him if he was coming and he said 'o sorry I must of put someone else in sorry,' he then said he would ring her back later that day to fit her in, this was 2 weeks ago. Thankfully we have found someone else. He can't even say she wasn't taking it seriously, she's booked in for her theory next month. He shouldn't take people on if you can't fit them In
