Greer's Gears Driving School

Fantastic experience: Chris Greer was my driving instructor and he has changed my life forever. I never thought I could drive due to having a disability but after having an assessment done to see if I could drive I was told I could drive with hand adaptations. I then started my lessons with Chris using a push/pull leaver on the right for break(push) and accelerator(pull) and then a Bluetooth lollipop grip to help me steer(similar to the steering ball). Chris was very understanding and helpful during all my lessons. He made me feel safe and confident. Chris pushed me out my comfort zone when I needed it getting me to tackle things I thought I wasn’t ready for when he knew I was including my test which I passed first time. I will forever be grateful for all the help and support but most importantly giving me my independence to be able to go out and take my 2 girls out places without having to get my husband or friends to drive. Thank you for everything Chris

Fantastic experience: I am very thankful for Chris's help, support, and patience as a driving instructor. Before I started my lessons, I had no driving experience and was very nervous to drive, but after a few lessons, I started to build up my confidence, and Chris helped me become a more confident driver. My practical test passed on the first try! I am especially grateful for Chris's personal approach since I have poor hearing. I am still in awe that I passed, I am so happy! It's a great driving school that I highly recommend.

I had bad driving anxiety before and gave up on learning to drive I took a chance and took done lessons with Fiona. Fantastic experience: I would take this opportunity to thank Chris for organising, teaching and guiding me the correct way to drive and things needed to pass the test. Being a doctor, I have to drive to three different hospital in Ayrshire and my International permit was valid until February. This was the biggest task for me to achieve. Almost everyone told me they are fully booked until January and some never responded back .I approached Chris in September and he responded promptly and got me booked for November and then I booked practical test in December. And I passed with two minors!I am so glad I did it in first attempt and before my international licence expiry. Thanks to Trisha who arranged and managed everything.

Fantastic experience: I learned to drive with Chris fully knowing that I am in general, skilful, but a very self-critical by personality and an anxious test taker. Chris took the time to get to know me and adapt his tuition to my learning style as he does with all learners. This was carried out in a way where I never felt belittled for making mistakes and I was encouraged every step of the way. It is also important to highlight Trisha- being in the formal role of administrator, she was also an important source of support and validation through challenging times.

Fantastic experience: An excellent experience from start to finish. From contacting Chris and explaining our circumstances and taking his advice we travelled from Surrey to do a one week intensive course and test. Any nerves my daughter had were immediately laid to rest. Chris was a true professional , his knowledge, enthusiasm and communication skills were second to none. After the first drive my daughters confidence grew and this continued throughout the week resulting in a pass. I would endorse Greers Gears Driving School 100%.

Fantastic experience: I passed my test 1st time. My experience has been really good with Chris and team. I did a intensive course and it was well planned out and they were very helpful and patient as im new to the area. Chris and Fiona were extremely good in picking up my bad habits and pointing out at errors which really helped on the test day. Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing experience with Chris I was very nervous and suffer bad with anxiety. Chris was so patient and understanding of my condition and did everything to reassure me while teaching me to drive what an awesome time I've had we had ups and downs but he managed to get me through my test so look no further than Greers Gears for your driving lessons and you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: I was 17 when I decided to started to learn to drive and I didn’t got on very well with a different instructor. During this time I took a break and went to university. At this point I never touched a car until I was 24. I then started to learn with Chris and it was a fantastic experience. He helped solve my nerves and really improved my driving! I passed second time with the help of Chris and his new instructor Angela. I had some scheduling conflicts on my side, which Chris and Trisha quickly solved and allowed me to continue my learning. At this point Angela joined and taught me as well. Angela gave me experience with petrol cars and Chris with diesels. This allowed me to get a tone of experience with different cars and really understand how to drive them. Incredibly valuable experience and really helped with clutch control. I couldn’t have asked for better instructors, really good at challenging me the appropriate amount that made me feel safe but also pushed me forward.

Fantastic experience: After years of struggling with driving and numerous instructors I decided to do a course with Greers Gears. My instructor Fiona was the best instructor I have ever had. I went from feeling like getting my license before my theory ran out was out of reach to being test ready with the 24hr intensive course. I suffered a lot with nerves and Fiona was very good at helping me calm down and she was super understanding. I can’t recommend Fiona and Greers Gears enough to anyone, they have went over and above for me. I’m over the moon with my pass and not having to worry about resitting my theory!

Fantastic experience: Fiona is the type of instructor that takes the time to understand you and your style of learning. You’ll struggle to find a learner as nervous as I was - Fiona was effortlessly cool in her approach to dealing with my fears as they happened. I was made to feel safe, supported and trusted even when I didn’t trust myself and so I owe wholeheartedly my first time pass this week to her. I can not recommend her enough and I will never forget which country I live in again... ;)

Fantastic experience: Chris is some guy - helpful, supportive and understanding. I took some intense lessons over a few weeks in the lead up to passing my test. Chris gave me some great tips and recognised some habits that I hadn't noticed before. He was also really good at spotting my anxiety about driving and did all the right things to get e in a good place. I was also really impressed with how well set up Chris's Cars were - he's made the cars into new driver machines with lots of extra features, labelling and help. That made a huge difference and was something I've never seen with any other instructor. If you are new to driving or anxious about driving I would especially recommend Chris.

Fantastic experience: HIGHLY RECOMMEND GREER’S GEARS!!!! Having just passed my test with Chris this week, I can fully recommend Greer’s Gears. Chris is fantastic instructor who made lessons thoroughly enjoyable yet informative all with the upmost professionalism. He made me feel safe in the car from lesson one and taught me multiple tricks and tips he has developed over his career. He makes all the important parts easy to remember. Fantastic experience: I started lessons with Chris in April 2022 in the manual car before deciding it wasn't for me and switching to the automatic car, Chris was supportive of my decision and we continued lessons in the automatic car from then on. I had never driven before so I wasn't confident at all and I felt anxious with driving but Chris was an amazing instructor and really helped me build up my confidence and I really enjoyed our lessons together. Chris and Trisha were very quick in getting my test rebooked for me and squeezing me in for a refresher lesson before my test, luckily for me Chris had a test cancellation and phoned me up to offer me the test slot and I finally managed to pass my practical 3rd time lucky in November 2022. Greer's Gears is a great driving school and Chris was the best instructor for me, he helped me build up my confidence and was always very supportive and never once gave up on me. Thank you to both Chris and Trisha for your help and support!!

Fantastic experience: Chris taught my son to drive, he really enjoyed every lesson. The way Chris carried out his instruction was clear, concise and with patience. His lessons enabled my son to develop his driving quickly and to a high standard meaning he sailed through his test first time with excellent results. Fantastic experience: Best driving instructor around. Chris went out of his way to travel a great distance for my lessons and nothing was to much to help me develop my confidence and ability to drive. Chris and his team are amazing and always happy to help. From Trisha in the office who has so much patient with me constantly requesting lesson changing and she anyways managed to meet my needs. Fantastic experience: I cannot thank Chris enough for helping me go from an extremely anxious driver who absolutely hated being behind the wheel (to the point of tears before my first lesson), to passing my test with 2 minors and genuinely enjoying tootling around quite the thing - never thought I would ever say I enjoy driving but Chris made that possible. He is honestly the nicest guy who only wants the best for you, making lessons fun and creating a safe space so you feel like you can have a rant or a cry if you need to. After only a couple of lessons I could see a huge difference in my ability and my whole mindset towards being in the driving seat. Fantastic experience: Well what can I say apart from what an amazing instructor! From the first time stepping into the drivers seat Chris made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Negative experience: Hands down the worst company in my life I have had to deal with, turns up for lessons without informing you, 3 months down the line after taking money 2 months upfront, still only one lesson completed Joke of a company one am glad to be rid off

Super friendly guy who’s teaching methods were helpful, calming, and instilled me with a lot of confidence to pass my test. He even cut my course short as he said I’d overbooked and got me test ready much quicker than I expected! Buzzing to have passed and Chris gets 5 stars from me! Fantastic experience: I honestly do not think I would have passed my test without the guidance and patience of Chris. I started lessons late (at 40) and had to contend with several lockdown restrictions while learning, but Chris' calm style of teaching gave me the confidence to pass my test. I couldn't recommend Chris more highly, especially if you are a nervous driver like I was.

First time pass Throughout the pandemic lockdowns and isolations it was extremely difficult to keep consistency but Chris always went above and beyond to keep on track prioritising when needed. Fantastic experience: Chris from Greer’s Gears was my driving instructor and I found his teaching technique to be very easy to understand. I had an awful issue with my nerves but Chris put me at ease helped me to manage my nerves. He was always calm and patient. Having had a couple of different instructors when doing lessons in the past I can 100% say I wouldn’t have passed first time with just any instructor. Choose Greer’s Gears you won’t regret it!

Fantastic experience: I moved to Chris after my previous instructor, doing almost 2 years of lessons and 4 attempts at the test, I wasn't getting any constructive feedback and felt really let down and belittled when I didn't pass. Had my test today after learning from Chris I passed with only 4 minnors. All I can say is I wish I found Chris sooner, straight away I felt comfortable under his guidance, he's really easy to talk to and very patient and all ways has feedback after everything you do behind the wheel, whether it be showing good judgement or doing maneuver. Everything he teaches is simple and easy to grasp and no over complications. (I was previously taught the reverse around a corner with about 8 steps that was knocked down to 3 steps). Only had a hand full of lessons with Chris before the test and felt 100% ready.
