Fantastic experience: Tim has been such an amazing driving instructor. Very patient from the start, he's always been very thorough and meticulous in all the information and advice that he shares both during lessons and beyond. Tim sends notes after every lesson that are really helpful to keep track of the areas you need to work on. He suggested a bit of a more intensive schedule the last two weeks leading to my driving test and it's been amazingly helpful. Doing the mock test and then having a couple of more sessions to refine my driving skills really put me at ease for the test despite how nervous I initially was. If you're looking for an experienced and highly skilled instructor, Tim is your guy. He's able to bring you to great driving standards to feel confident driving around London safely. I am very grateful and so happy to say that I passed first time two days ago and I'm so over the moon. I'm 37 and have been putting this off for so many years but Tim made the whole learning journey so much enjoyable and easier than I thought it would be. Tim is a great instructor who always gives calm and clear instructions in the car. He also provides detailed notes after each lesson - The notes often include diagrams and photos of tricky junctions/roundabouts. This helped build confidence, keep track of my progress, and proved very useful when preparing for the test. Tim also helped swap my driving test for an earlier date. I was initially booked for an October test, but Tim was able to assist in swapping it for a date in early July. I was very grateful for this and happy to shave a few months of my wait. Fantastic experience: Passed! Tim made me feel very comfortable throughout all the lessons, he's very patient but also helps me understand what I've done wrong. With every lesson he provides a detailed breakdown on what you did, with detailed diagrams and images, and how you can improve. He teaches you everything from the basics, advanced tips in real-life situations and takes you on roads which you will encounter in your test. He's built up a database over the years of likely test routes to maximize your chances. He also does mock-tests which are extremely helpful for getting your nerves out before the real test. I really felt he was doing everything he possibly could to prepare me. I passed after around 8 2-hour lessons. The car itself feels great to drive in, easy to find biting points and responsive. Fantastic experience: Amazing instructor. Is a great teacher and is very understanding. Passed my practical test and with only 2 minor faults on my first driving test. which is an accurate display of how good Tim is at his job. Additionally, he would take notes of the lesson and send them to me soon after because of this, I was able to know where I went wrong and then focus on the issue and improve overall. Fantastic experience: Very happy to recommend Tim. He’s was very meticulous with his instruction, often taking the trouble to explain road signs, driving rules and manoeuvres through diagrams, and simulations. He also sent across very detailed notes at the end of each class, complete with diagrams, and these were a huge help when it came to brushing up before the test. As an experienced driver overseas, I did need to adapt to UK driving rules and Tim was patient through out this process. Happy to have cleared the practical driving test on my first attempt.

Fantastic experience: Tim was an outstanding driving instructor and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who’s learning to drive a manual car. I passed my driving test on my first attempt with Tim with three minors in adverse weather conditions and I couldn’t have done this without my lessons with Tim. Before I met Tim, I was a really nervous driver, especially since I had failed a previous test with a number of serious and minor faults. After two packages of lessons with Tim I became a much more confident driver and I started to enjoy driving a lot more. Tim is meticulous and comprehensive in his teaching methods, and I found him to be professional, punctual and very patient. He also makes great use of diagrams and photos when explaining difficult concepts, which was really helpful. Fantastic experience: After my brother’s success and great experience with Tim, meant that he was always going to be my first choice of driving instructor. Tim is very detailed not only in explanations but also in what has been accomplished in every lesson. Tim writes extensive notes of the lesson, that are great to follow up from. He is always punctual, accommodating and helpful when you need to be picked up and dropped off away from your home. He has great knowledge of the roads taken on tests routes and the exact technique for what’s needed to pass. He makes sure you’re not only confident for your test but also driving safely in the future.

Through his excellent communication and organisation skills he was able to adjust his schedule around me being abroad quite often to make sure I was up to test standard for my practical in October, allowing me to pass first time with only a couple minors. Fantastic experience: Tim was an excellent instructor! I came to him having failed a test in my teens about a decade previously, so I hadn’t driven for some time. All aspects of driving were practised and discussed thoroughly, to the point that I felt very well-prepared when it came to the test itself. It was always a pleasure to chat with him on our lessons, but Tim never missed anything whilst we were doing so: he was always taking care to evaluate my driving and he would give clear and useful advice whenever it was needed. His knowledge of the test area as well as on all aspects of driving was comprehensive, and he was able to answer all of my questions over our time together. A testament to Tim’s teaching was the test day itself: due to unexpected standstill traffic around the centre, we almost missed the booking even though we had left with plenty of time. Despite feeling the pressure from getting to the centre in time on top of the usual test nerves, I was still able to drive effectively and pass. Fantastic experience: Tim is systematic and thorough, he is writing down everything after the lesson and will go over it in detail during following lessons. He will do a mock exam, which is probably harder to pass and after that focus on weakest areas. On the exam day I felt confident and managed to pass on my first try. Fantastic experience: I had put off learning to drive for years, then decided in early Feb 2020 “this will be a a good time to start”. It turned out that, in fact; it was a terrible time. But at least I had found a fantastic teacher as I finally passed on my second attempt early Feb 2022! This isn’t to say that I needed two years to learn, or that Tim needed two years to teach me. I’m sure if Tim had any power over covid 19 he would have exercised this power as effectively as he has instilled valuable life long driving skills upon me. I can attest to this as a lot of our lessons were pre pandemic. One failed test, a few lockdowns and a gigantic waiting list later; I feared I would’ve lost all the progress I’d made. But thankfully even with so much time away from the wheel, when we got back to refresher lessons for my second attempt; it was apparent Tim’s method had done its magic. I can drive! Confidently! As an 'older' learner driver working full time, Tim did his absolute best to accommodate my inconsistent diary which made learning much more feasible for myself. I received a cancellation test slot on 21st December for CHRISTMAS EVE, and Tim still very kindly squeezed in some additional lessons and the test. Very happy to say I passed with 2 minors! Fantastic experience: I had a good number of lessons with Tim Mountain starting from my very first ones in a car. These lessons were spread out over long periods as I was waiting for a driving test date, however his qualities as an excellent driving instructor meant I didn't come back rusty. What stands out is that Tim is also punctual and well organised, and clear learning objectives helped myself progress quicker. This structure to lessons really helped. While highlighting areas I needed to improve as I was close to my driving test, when I was a beginner he was aldi calm and patient. I would highly recommend Tim in the future and him having my best interests first helped myself pass first time.

Fantastic experience: I reached out to Tim on fairly short notice as I had a test booked and no instructor due to lack of availability across the board. From our first call Tim was extremely professional and considerate using any free slot he could find in his diary over a 2 week period to ensure I could be test ready! Our first lesson was an assessment of my current driving skill where Tim quickly identified areas which I needed to improve and we set about practicing those repeatedly. Tim is completely dedicated to his students and even added an additional lesson for me outside of his working hours as he felt it would make all the difference. I'm pleased to say after 6 2 hour lessons I did pass my test and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help and support from Tim, he told me he was a perfectionist and he was not wrong. I couldn't recommend him highly enough and thank you so much again for your help!

Fantastic experience: I had my first lessons with Tim at the beginning of September (only 2 months before my booked test) with no ideas of driving in London (and the UK in general). I still remembered how bad I did at the first time, and was really stressful thinking about the upcoming test (it's super difficult to book one, and would take forever if I failed). Fantastic experience: Tim is a very professional instructor, my english is not very good, he was so patient, some times he has to use google translate to explain to me and make sure I totally understand, he told me some driving tips as well,he also use iPad to show me how to deal with roundabout,junction etc. His car always clean, hand sanitizer always there to use,always pick me up on time. he knows south east area very well, knows many test routes.he is not only teach me how to pass the test,and teach me how to be a good driver, because of him I passed my test at one go!

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test first time 2 weeks ago with A Star Driving School! I chose to learn with them as I read very good reviews and knew someone who also passed with them. Tim as a driving instructor was always very professional and I felt confident and at ease having never driven before with his clear and effective teaching methods. Having had my test rescheduled due to Covid-19 and no lessons for over 4 months of lockdown, I felt confident to get back into the driving seat with Tim helping me gain my confidence back straight away behind the wheel. The precautions he took in regards to Covid-19 made me feel very comfortable with wearing face coverings, sanitising the car before I got in for my lesson and running through the Covid checks before we started each time. Fantastic experience: More than ten years since badly failing my driving test, common sense and the general ageing process, including finding myself riding my motorbike for fun far less than I did previously, motivated me to take another crack at getting a full car licence. I wanted someone local to Greenwich ( who would hopefully know the Hither Green test route, where I had failed previously) and found Tim at A star driving school on-line. I left a message and he called me back same day. He arranged an assessment session and declared he thought that 5 x2 hour sessions, including the test day, for a very reasonable £300 upfront would be enough. So basically I had just over ten hours in a car from 2007 to my test day. Tim is a friendly reassuring presence and comes with a nippy little upmarket Mini which is an excellent vehicle to learn in. Despite my nervousness, and my propensity to repeat mistakes, Tim was patient and professional and if you listen to him, follow his guidance and trust in his teaching process, including sending illustrations and videos to you to help when you are uncertain about a manoeuvre, then you will earn yourself a shiny full driving licence. When searching for local driving schools I chose Tim due to how many good reviews and passes he had. He was understanding of my schedule and we worked around it which I appreciate. His teaching methods are on point and he really sets you up for success. Again would 100% recommend.

Fantastic experience: I learned to drive with Tim at A Star after being recommended to him by another well regarded driving instructor in the area. He is based close to where I live (near the Royal Standard) so it was a good fit. I never learned to drive when most other people do so - I left it until my forties - so I was looking for someone who would be patient and tolerant of my inadequacies. Tim is easy to talk to and the (many) hours I spent with driving with him were surprisingly enjoyable. He provided lots of useful tips and gave me the confidence to keep going when I felt I was never going to make it. He was always very punctual and communicative. And I really enjoyed driving his car! I am now enjoying driving round SE London - something I never thought would happen - and Tim played a very significant role in that transformation.

Fantastic experience: I had a very good learning-to-drive experience with A Star Driving School and passed my test at first go. The communication was always good and classes started/finished on time. In case of changes whether by me or the School, it was always easy and clear to communicate. The car, mini, was nice, clean, new and well looked after, and comfortable to drive. The instructor, Tim, is a very nice person to have as your instructor, extremely patient and calm and never patronising. He has a well thought-through methodology to the teaching starting with the very basics (and he will drive to a quieter area where you can start to practice safely), and gradually adding new skills (how to safely start/stop the car, to how to safely take junctions manor/minor, left/right turns, roundabouts, red routes, parking techniques etc.). I found the structure of methodology very helpful. He also covers the mechanics of the car, which helps at the beginning to understand the usage of clutch, brake, gas and the gears. In addition, Tim uses an iPad with a driving app to safely explain different scenarios on the roads. You will also do a mock test before the actual driving test, which is pretty much identical to the real one. It was very helpful in terms of feeling prepared and having an idea on what to expect. If you are looking for a driving school; I would recommend A Star.

Clearly he has a wealth of knowledge and experience putting people through their driving lessons and test.
