He was strict to not overlook faults, but highly patient and understanding of my pace of learning, slowly building my confidence over time. He is also always attentive during lessons, and there is no wastage of time with him - the entire lesson duration is spent in learning/practicing/correcting skills. Negative experience: Driving instructor should not yell at their students or put them down because insulting and belittling students can create a negative and potentially unsafe learning environment as they will lose their concentration. People yell when they feel powerless or at a loss, and if there's one thing a driving instructor should never be, it’s powerless or at a loss. Another important job of a driving instructor is to build your confidence rather than killing it to make you feel more nervous than actual examiner . I realized this very late after wasting so much money and time. Azhar lack patience, criticises in harsh way and start interrogation of student on every mistake i.e why you did this? What you were thinking? Are you sleeping? Your mind is absent? etc then he expects from students to not lose concentration after this aggressive tone.He might be good in others things but his way of teaching was definitely not right. When told him this is not the way or criteria of teaching set by DVSA for instructor . He said find another one. Should have done this much earlier but obviously will report it to DVSA or relevant authorities because it was not appropriate behaviour.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience here being instructed by Azar. He didn't waste any time, and explained thoroughly any mistakes I was making, and how to correct them. I passed my test on the first try, so I'm very happy with how my experience was.

Fantastic experience: After having lessons over a decade ago I decided to give it another try. So I had 10 lessons with Azar and managed to pass first time. I’m very glad I chose to go with ABF driving school as it definitely turned out to be the reason I passed first time. Azar will consistently and regularly point out your faults and help you correct them. This is what is needed to learn and pass. I highly recommend booking your lessons with him if you are serious about passing and willing to put in the effort to learn.

Negative experience: 1 star given for lack of professionalism. Unfortunately, Azar's mistake caused me to miss my driving test. I had a test booked at Maybush driving test centre on 24/08/21, but Azar took me to Forest Hills instead. When I realised it was the incorrect centre, he immediately raised his voice and shouted at me saying that I needed to stay calm and simply rebook the test. This is easy to say when you are the instructor and have already received payment in excess of £800. However, I had booked this test since April and took a morning off work, having made arrangements to to do supplementary work as I was missing a compulsory meeting. You can imagine the complete devastation that comes with a situation like this when you have booked your test so far in advance, and made so many arrangements in order to take said test, especially with the scarcity of practical driving test slots that this peri-covid era has left us with. Now, you would imagine in a situation like this that he would put his hands up and apologise, but this was not the case. He tried to place blame on me, saying that I did not confirm the test centre. I sent him all the details, and in the 3 weeks leading up to my test, he would always open the calendar to the 24th Of August on his phone after my lessons and I saw that he very correctly had “—— Driving test Maybush" logged into his calendar. I had no reason to believe he had got the centres mixed up, and no reason to confirm when I saw every time that he had the correct details on his phone. He also tried to say that I should not have booked Maybush, and I explained that I booked which centre was available as test slots are hard to come by. He said that I should have booked Forest Hills because it is closer to my house than Maybush (I checked afterwards and Maybush is only 5-7 minutes further from my house than Forest Hills). I found this entirely inappropriate considering what had happened. I had never taken a practical test before, nor had we gone to either of the test centres for my lessons so I had no way of knowing which test centre was which, yet Azar tried to act like I should have known. No Azar, you should have known and you should have been more careful. This is your job and I still cannot quite comprehend how you can firstly make such a mistake but also be so cavalier and unprofessional in the aftermath. As if that was not nearly bad enough, he tried to tell me that so many things could have gone wrong and I could have failed my test anyway. Yes, I very well could have failed but you did not even give me the chance to fail. Nevertheless, I must applaud you for the confidence you had in my driving ability. He kept on telling me I just needed to stay calm and rebook the test, as if it were the easiest thing to do presently. My test was at 8:57am. Azar picked me up at 8:00am and I was home by 9:05. When I mentioned him at the very least reimbursing me £35 (for only using 1 of the 2 hours I had prepaid him for my test), he said he could not because we had gone over the hour. Then, in all fairness to him, he said that he would give me 4 hours of lessons before a new test date and also pay for the new test. However, I did not see this as a viable option for myself. After this experience, and his shocking display of professionalism and lack of empathy, I did not want anything further to do with Azar. Therefore, after I had got home, I messaged him seeking a refund of the 2 hours I had prepaid him for my test as well as the test fee. He obliged to this, but really it was the least that could be done. This refund cannot make up for the lost time and distress that his error caused me. I hope he has learnt from this error and is more careful with checking his schedule in future, and also more capable of taking responsibility for his mistakes.
