Positive experience: Did the car to class 1 course here a few months ago, majority of the training was fantastic, Will is an amazing instructor and a very likeable person he made everything so simple. My problems happened in the rigid and class 1 training 1 instructor would say one thing and another instructor would say the complete opposite. During training I had a situation on the motorway I was in lane 1 and there was traffic merging from the slip road, I slowed down a little by literally about 5mph to let the traffic merge instructor told me I shouldn’t slow down and told me to put my foot down and get back up to speed. When I questioned him on this he told me that it’s our right of way and we should ignore all the traffic on the slip road as it is there responsibility to safely merge onto the carriageway and not ours. I was told to turn a blind eye on slip road and just pretend they’re not there at all…. Fast forward to the of my test and I failed it because I didn’t let traffic from slip road merge onto the motorway. Examiner said if I had slowed down by just 5mph I would have passed. Ironically the exact same situation as my training. When I told them this back at the office at benshaw they asked if it was the training I had received that caused this failure, my reply was “if I had never been told that and I took my test without knowing then I would have most definitely have passed since in all the years I’ve been driving I’ve always either slowed down or moved over to let traffic merge and if I would have done this on my test then quite simply I’d have passed”. I understand that the Highway Code states that those already on the motorway have priority and it’s the slip road that should give way but you decide who’s right and who’s wrong.

Fantastic experience: Passed my C1 with Ben Shaw training first time. Great company ! from the first phone call I was made to feel nothing was too much trouble as they talked me through the whole process from start to finish. They booked all the medicals , theory tests and practical tests making the whole process effortless. The online theory test login was a great asset to learn and prepare for the real test. The on and offsite training with Paul was fantastic he was a great tutor and also a brilliant guy to spend the day with making me feel at ease all the times plus he always had a brilliant tale to tell.
