Positive experience: Did the car to class 1 course here a few months ago, majority of the training was fantastic, Will is an amazing instructor and a very likeable person he made everything so simple. My problems happened in the rigid and class 1 training 1 instructor would say one thing and another instructor would say the complete opposite. During training I had a situation on the motorway I was in lane 1 and there was traffic merging from the slip road, I slowed down a little by literally about 5mph to let the traffic merge instructor told me I shouldn’t slow down and told me to put my foot down and get back up to speed. When I questioned him on this he told me that it’s our right of way and we should ignore all the traffic on the slip road as it is there responsibility to safely merge onto the carriageway and not ours. I was told to turn a blind eye on slip road and just pretend they’re not there at all…. Fast forward to the of my test and I failed it because I didn’t let traffic from slip road merge onto the motorway. Examiner said if I had slowed down by just 5mph I would have passed. Ironically the exact same situation as my training. When I told them this back at the office at benshaw they asked if it was the training I had received that caused this failure, my reply was “if I had never been told that and I took my test without knowing then I would have most definitely have passed since in all the years I’ve been driving I’ve always either slowed down or moved over to let traffic merge and if I would have done this on my test then quite simply I’d have passed”. I understand that the Highway Code states that those already on the motorway have priority and it’s the slip road that should give way but you decide who’s right and who’s wrong.

Fantastic experience: Passed my C1 with Ben Shaw training first time. Great company ! from the first phone call I was made to feel nothing was too much trouble as they talked me through the whole process from start to finish. They booked all the medicals , theory tests and practical tests making the whole process effortless. The online theory test login was a great asset to learn and prepare for the real test. The on and offsite training with Paul was fantastic he was a great tutor and also a brilliant guy to spend the day with making me feel at ease all the times plus he always had a brilliant tale to tell. For an anxious chap, from the very start getting in touch with Shantel to passing, the whole experience from the team was very supportive throughout the process. Negative experience: I went here to get my B+E license with Ben Shaws dad. Incredibly racist and vile person who should not be allowed to teach with the way he talks about people that are not white. Then did my C+E with Ben himself. He is a very rude and constantly changes his mind about what he’s telling you. One minute I’m too close the curb, then one minute I’m not close enough. He constantly talks and talks while you are trying to get to grips with learning the techniques and it puts you off completely. Because of that I failed my C+E. Stay away from this firm at all costs. Waste of money.

They are a fantastic team and made every step clear and easy, which made what I thought was going to be a stressful experience very straightforward. Negative experience: Really poor experiance. Ben Shaw himself has zero patience, I'm shocked that not only is he an instructor but that hes actually built a business out of it. He's very discouraging, he has no intent on building you up. Was also shocked at how he and others talked about their students, I heard multiple insulting comments and racist views (not just from Ben). Astounding lack of professionalism. Highly recommended you go elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: I cannot thank everyone enough there it's a great company both the office staff and the instructors were helpful and quick in any responses. I did both my class 1 and class 2 with them. The instructors were really awesome and friendly. And were really patient and gave great hints and tips to help me improve.

Fantastic experience: The CPC learning website was easy to use and very helpful for passing theory. Passed with Ben Shaw for my CAT C in January, in the 2 days of lessons I truly went from knowing little about operating a HGV to driving with confidence thanks to the amazing instruction from Allan. Unfortunately I failed my first test in late December after a silly mistake on my own part. I retested in early January and had a quick lesson with Martin to help me iron out any minor issues I had etc. Overall I can't rate BST highly enough!! Get it booked!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Ben Shaw have been helping me gain my minibus licence and they have been first class throughout the process, the videos for the theory side of things are of a good quality and cover everything you need and then on the practical side the instructors/trainers are really knowledgeable and helpful with lots of advice given in a friendly manor.

Negative experience: We didn’t get round to actually taking our HGV tests with ben shaw, we called up to get a quote sent to us and the woman on the phone was unbelievably rude! I ended up telling my partner to put the phone down and we would go elsewhere, we couldn’t believe the tone and attitude of the woman, we was literally sat their absolutely gob smacked at the way she was speaking to us! I’m sure Ben shaw is a fantastic training school however due to the sheer rudeness we received when enquiring we have now paid another company to get us through both our HGV licences.

Negative experience: Abysmal service! Paid around 2 grand for a 2 day course for training and 2 tests and had a very stressy instructor with a terrible attitude and simply unqualified to teach. You can’t treat people like that if your paying them that amount of money to get taught simply unacceptable anyway I got 2 the test and I failed obviously because my instructor was stressing at me and I got back to the training centre And I complained about my instructor and they did nothing about it Absolutely useless!

Negative experience: would just like to share my experience with ben shaw training I had a four hour driving lesson booked at £264. they contacted me to say will have to rebook it due to unforeseen circumstances. so I thought stuff happens can’t be helped so rebooked it. then the last weekend before my lesson I went over on my ankle And tore my ligaments. so was unable to take the lesson. I was then told I will lose my money because they can’t lose money which I think is totally ruthless. so I wouldn’t recommend good job I didn’t book a weeks course could of been £2000 Give or take down the drain. So I really can’t recommend

Negative experience: DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED! I will be as honest as I can with the facts of this review. My very first time behind the wheel of a H.G.V and my instructor seems to be feeling the stress more than most, She literally shouted her instructions at me Drill Sargent springs to mind. I had to pull over and ask for her to calm down as I was nervous enough. If that was all I might of been able to move on. After the "lesson" I spoke to management about it and was moved to another instructor, Next I was somehow missed from the text message they sent out to inform us of our classroom session. While being taught the lorry safety checks my instructor failed to see a missing wheel nut.... Until I literally pointed to it. While on my lesson with my new instructor, noticed that the diesel was very low so had to detour for a fill?!? . The day of my C.P.C test an I still haven't been shown how to fasten straps and rigging.. I.e ropes and chains... I asked " Would it be possible to have a quick lesson before my test? " They obliged. I was lead to the porta cabin to be shown,( so I thought) fifteen minutes in and the best way to describe the lesson was disappointing, my instructor seemed more confused than me. Test day arrived and as you can guess I'm quite nervous driving to the test centre, so I asked if when we arrived I might have a quick vape? Sure he replied. Just stay outside the door for when they call your name. My testing officer exits the office and called for me, an I made my way in only to be reprimanded for not being inside the cabin waiting as the rules state!!!?! Great start to a test an of course I failed...... After complaining to Andrea about what I believe was a shoddy service from the start I was told I had had all my lessons and wouldn't be compensated......Good luck guys......also noticed no reviews from failed drivers :-/ I gave the company a chance to refund my money but they refused.
