Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Kenny @ Claypotts highly enough. Both my sons have passed with him recently and they are confident and safe drivers. My younger son has disabilities (including ASD) but with Kenny’s expert tutoring his confidence has soared and being able to drive has helped broaden his horizons immeasurably. This really is a five star driving school.

Fantastic experience: Would recommend Claypotts to anyone looking to learn. Graeme was an excellent automatic driving instructor who made sure i knew exactly what is to be expected during the driving test. During the lessons I felt at ease and was reassured and encouraged when I made mistakes along the way. Only after a few months of learning along with private driving in my own vehicle I was able to pass first time! Huge thanks to Graeme for preparing me for the big day!

Fantastic experience: I'm pleased to announce I passed my driving test (with a pretty demanding test route I must say). I wasn't sure I was going to pass first time as the Dundee pass rate isn't that high, but my instructor Graeme prepared me well. He always gave great advice and lots of encouragement. Fantastic experience: Claypotts very professional friendly staff. My driving instructor was Steve. I really struggle with anxiety. Steve had been my 5th driving instructor. Gave up so many times, had a baby so was good motivation, to get on the road and pass my test. However, really don't think would have past with just any instructor. Steve is brilliant and took time with me to encourage and support when I felt couldn't do a drive he tailored the lesson around me. That really helped. Anyone scared just go for it. Fantastic experience: I have just passed my driving test first attempt today. My instructor Paul was great. He's professional and friendly. He gave me the right amount of motivation at times I needed it, whilst also getting me to the point of being able to drive independently. He gave me the little push I needed to get passed my nerves and I really appreciated that. Claypotts as a company, didn't have me waiting long to start me up with lessons, which was fantastic. And when you pay for an hour, you get the full hour of driving. I would 100% recommend everyone to go with Claypotts. Please pass on my thanks to Paul.

Fantastic experience: Having just past my test first time I would highly recommend claypotts Driving School. I suffer terrible anxiety and was shown exceptional, kindness, patience and understanding by my instructor Ian from the very first lesson. He identified my barriers and worked with me to overcome them reassuring me every step of the way. He always made me feel at ease whilst in the car and was more than willing to help me put in the extra work and lessons in the last few weeks prior to my test to make sure I felt ready and capable for my test. I highly recommend this driving school and Ian. So much so my son will be using them come August when he turns 17.

Fantastic experience: Recently passed my driving test after undergoing lessons with Claypotts and Dryburgh driving school and I could not have been more pleased with than to have Steve as my driving instructor. Very much a personalised experience tailored to the needs of the student. Had some gift vouchers from Christmas and birthday presents, telephoned the office to book some lessons. Person in charge of admin was ever so helpful on multiple occasions. Circumstances were difficult from time to time as a result of issues with local driving test centre (not the fault of the driving school by any means) however they were only too willing to accommodate these issues. A most personal experience from start to finish with a very professional, very friendly and very reassuring instructor, exactly what is needed to quell the nerves of new learner drivers. Would thoroughly recommend. Absolutely first class experience from beginning to end

Fantastic experience: Paul, my instructor, was truly amazing. He was very calm and patient and just an all round friendly guy who always made me feel comfortable. He was always organised, turned up on time and gave me plenty of notice if there were any changes. He worked around my uni and work schedule really well and always fitted me in. He was very accommodating and I can tell he cares about his students. Before driving with Paul I had never sat in the drivers seat of a car so being test ready within 6 months speaks for itself. Absolute class guy, I would highly recommend him to anyone and the folk at the office were always friendly and accommodating too. Thanks Paul !!!

Fantastic experience: Claypotts are an absolutely fantastic driving school, I just passed manual with them and passed automatic with them previously. They have always been very accommodating, transparent and friendly in every interaction I've had with them. My instructor was Colin, fantastic instructor. Extremely patient and will do everything he can to ensure that you are above the standard you need to be to pass your test and that you feel confident doing so. I can't thank them enough.

Fantastic experience: I took lessons with claypotts at the beginning of 2022 after my previous instructor and I didn’t gel and felt there was no progress despite doing lessons with him for just under a year. When I made the switch I was really nervous, I was paired up with Paul, and on my first lesson he made me feel very comfortable and at ease. I had lessons with paul from around March and I passed in August, during those few months I can only applaud how much of a fantastic job he did with me, if I was ever stuck on something he’d talk me through everything clearly, he would highlight what I was best at and what I’d need improving on. I would always look forward to my lessons as we’d have a great chat and I wasn’t afraid of ever being shouted or yelled at from paul, he was always punctual and just a generally great guy. I passed my first time with one minor with his help and since then have been confident on the roads thanks to him. I can only sing the praises of him and claypotts for being so great and will always recommend to any family and friends looking to learn. Totally missed the lessons after passing as was always a great chat. Long overdue review but better late than never! Thanks so much again

Fantastic experience: Passed my test on 24th May 2023, passed first time and my instructor was Kenny Patterson. I am diagnosed ASD and have anxiety and was very worried about learning to drive. Fortunately I got Kenny as my instructor, he was extremely professional, reliable and totally understanding of my needs. He took me from a total beginner through to passing. I really enjoyed my lessons and looked forward to them each week. Couldn't recommend Kenny and Claypotts Driving School enough!!!

Negative experience: Such a Rude man, Kenny Patterson. He thinks he is the boss of the Driving School so he can speak to the students how he wants, he has got a mental problems for definite. So if u go to this Driving School Please DO NOT GO WITH HIM , just ask for another Instructor.

Fantastic experience: Passed first time thanks to neil. Cant fault instructor or the office staff they were always great. My only moan is learning to drive in a diesel has made driving my new petrol car difficult as i didnt realise how different they can be. Although could just be me or the car i choose but maybe that should be considered for future drivers as were all likely to purchase a petrol car. But thank you claypotts for getting me on the road

Fantastic experience: Can highly recommend Claypotts to anyone. Both our kids have anxiety issues but these were no barrier to learning to drive with Claypotts. Kenny P was our daughter’s instructor. He was patient and understanding and always knew how to ‘read’ our daughter’s mood and tailored her lessons around that. He was really good at building her confidence. Passing her test was a major achievement for her and we cannot thank Kenny enough. Our son had failed his test a couple of times with another local driving school and had lost all confidence. We spoke to Kenny about doing refresher lessons and he suggested Paul. What a great fit for our son. He was able to see exactly where our son was going wrong and helped him build his confidence, iron out the mistakes he’d been making and he passed his test. Once again, a real confidence boost and we can honestly say it’s changed his life. Don’t think twice about learning with Claypotts - they’re fantastic.

Fantastic experience: Just passed my driving test last week (first try!) thanks to Stevie Boylan. He was so patient with me as a nervous driver who completely fell apart just hearing the word “test”. Wonderful experience and while I’m happy to have passed I’m going to miss my Saturday morning lessons. Genuinely something I looked forward to every week.

Fantastic experience: Can't recommend Steve from Claypotts enough. He is calm and focused as well as intent on making sure you get the most out of your lesson. Even with my tendency to get distracted, Steve consistently kept my attention on the road. I would never have passed without him.

He immediately identified all the areas which need work and helped me build my driving from the basics all the way to a pass! Thank you to Ian for his patience, knowledge, patience again, and support (and references to music and pop culture I have never heard of - I have learned a lot!) Fantastic experience: I just recently passed my test and it's all down to Kenny. He really went above and beyond with me and was always willing to fit me in for extra lessons if he felt there was little things needing rectified. Always very accommodating and understanding if I needed to move/cancel lessons due to work commitments. Would highly recommend and the fact he managed to get me passed first time when at times I very much doubted myself is a massive compliment to him and the work he puts in. Fantastic experience: Huge thank you to Claypotts and especially Morag for being an amazing instructor (as well as having the patience of a Saint on my "bad days" when I was feeling frustrated with my driving!). Part of what made learning easier was being able to visualise different driving scenarios on the iPad before going out on the road to practice them in real life - it definitely helped ease my nerves at the beginning when I wasn't so used to being on the roads and even shortly before my test as it was a great way to revise trickier/busier junctions. Thrilled to say I passed first time so I'd definitely recommend Claypotts to anyone who's just starting out or perhaps looking to switch to a new instructor.

He is so calm and friendly, he would explain the process to you and ensure you understand. Fantastic experience: I called claypotts about becoming a driving instructor and spoke with Kenny and he couldn’t have been more helpful. He talked me through what I would need to do to become an instructor. (ADI PART 1, ADI PART 2 and ADI PART 3) Kenny was easy going and approachable during the whole process of my training and very patient when it came to filling the gaps in my knowledge. Kenny would thoroughly cover each subject in depth, step by step, which made it easier to follow. He would always encourage shared learning in the car. This developed my skills a lot quicker in my opinion and ensured the process was streamlined as we would only be training the subjects that I needed to work on. As always during learning mistakes were made, but they were always treated as a learning curve. Kenny would help me analyse and then correct the fault, whilst always giving positive feedback throughout the lessons. I passed all parts of my ADI first time and thank Kenny and Lorna at claypotts for their support throughout. I had a great experience with claypotts from start to finish and would highly recommend to anyone looking for driving lessons or driving instructor training.

Negative experience: Came to Claypotts driving school with Kenny Patterson as my instructor with the hope of improving my driving from a previous instructor. Lessons started well- I improved and had helpful lessons but very soon after made no progress and was stuck repeating routes weekly. Felt that I was unsupported and felt often intimidated by the teaching style. I cannot speak for all the instructors but this was not suitable for me, nor do I think it would be at all effective for anyone else. Was given no clear indication of progress, and as such felt I wasn’t learning. Praise when doing well was minimal and making mistakes was frowned upon. After a considerable number of lessons (around 20) I had decided to leave and carry on practice with family, where I made significant progress in comparison to the lessons. I have since passed my test, and feel while I gained a little from my time with them, I wasted a large amount of money and lessons were definitely dragged out (something someone else also mentioned in the reviews). Would not recommend them from my experience and are definitely, in my opinion, more of a “for profit” company rather than valuing driver education and wanting to effectively train learners.

Fantastic experience: I passed first time with a clean sheet thanks to Ian!! Ian is a brilliant driving instructor. He's extremely reliable, friendly, and very knowledgable and informative. He is very patient, puts you at ease, and also, very encouraging. When he put me in for my test I felt very well prepared, thanks to him covering every detail of what to expect, and how to get through it. Communication with office was always really pleasant and easy, people in office when i phoned were always nice. The whole thing was really organised, Colins main focus was to make me a safe driver and to make me become really familiar with the ways of main routes roundabouts slip roads etc, he taught me good tips on how to drive and how to remember right ways to use and what to watch out for on unusual roundabouts etc so I can confidently transfer them onto unfamiliar routes i might come across. Colin made effort even when I made mistakes to praise me for the good things but still keep me right and tell me what i was doing wrong. You can tell he genuinely wanted to understand why i done the things i did so he could help me not to repeat them and pass my test

Fantastic experience: I passed first time with Danielle with only one minor! I converted from automatic to manual and had used Claypotts and Dryburgh before and had a great experience and passed first time with Graeme in the red auto so thought I’d use the same company again and I was not disappointed! Danielle is very patient, explained thing in a way that was easy to understand and an all round great instructor and I’d highly recommend Danielle to anyone wanting to learn how to drive a manual car and I will definitely miss my weekly lessons with her and wish her all the best, thank you Danielle!
