Our comment from DrivingSchoolsTOP.co.uk about 5DAY Intensive Driving courses Bristol:

5DAY Intensive Driving Courses Bristol offers a range of intensive driving courses designed to help learners pass their driving tests efficiently. Many students praise the patience and professionalism of instructors like Mo, who have been instrumental in helping them build confidence and driving skills in a short period of time. The experience in the car has been highlighted as positive, with instructors providing tailored guidance to suit individual needs.

However, some students have expressed concerns about the overall structure of the course, including limited time spent on practical driving versus theory. There have been occasional reports of miscommunication regarding test bookings and timing, which led to frustration for some learners. A few users mentioned feeling underprepared for their tests, particularly if they were complete beginners without prior experience.

Overall, many students recommend 5DAY for a focused and intensive learning experience, as long as learners come prepared with some basic knowledge of driving principles. It is advised that complete beginners consider additional lessons before enrolling in the intensive program to maximize their chances of success.

Fantastic experience: My instructor was Mohammed. He was very helpful and patient and he explained everything to me very carefully. He helped me to progress in a really short amount of time. I would recommend him to anyone.

Negative experience: did the course back in march, felt like i hadn’t learnt anything rob was my instructor he was not patient at all which you should expect when your first learning to drive. he gave me a piece of paper and crossed off everything i did but had taught me stuff once and marked that i could do it independently. he slagged off another learner to me which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. the course is very over priced for what it is most days we spent the whole time driving around the same road doing the same junction meaning i couldn’t learn other things. he’d shout at me if i stalled (which only happened once or twice) or got in the wrong lane because his instructions made no sense. he made me do a mock test on the friday which had me under pressure because i did not know anything he then made me pull over and asked if i was stressed because of my mum putting pressure on me which was not the case and i hadn’t even said anything about my mum putting pressure on me. the theory training was good for people who hadn’t done much practice before however the lady didn’t go through hazard perception much but she was lovely and had everyone interacting. overall i do not recommend wasting your money on 5days go and get a private instructor who is patient and make you feel comfortable.

Fantastic experience: Course was very good and accomodating as I had to book last minute due to another company cancelling on me. They let me keep my original test in, and took me there on Friday as part of the course. I am pleased to say I passed first time thanks to Mo. He was brilliantly calm and good company, and made things I had previously found tricky seem so simple. I will be recommending Mo to friends and family!

Negative experience: My friend booked their crash course and was due to start over 1 month ago but on the day of the course they cancelled last minute with no warning. It’s been over a month now and they have not refunded my friend with all their money which they paid. They are ignoring all emails and cannot be reached through phone call. It’s apparently happened many times before to others. I WOULD AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS, THEY ARE CLEARLY A SCAM!!!! Do not give them any of your hard earned money!!!!

This review is not for 5Day, but for MY 5DAY - an entirely separate business and one that we are not affiliated with.

Negative experience: Would not recommend. You do just 1 week of intensive driving only for you to possibly wait months for your test. By the time your test comes, believe me you have forgotten everything you learned. It doesn’t make any sense.

Negative experience: Driving instructors have awful lane discipline on public roads and do not understand merging in turn. Settings very poor example for learners. Avoid, avoid, avoid

Negative experience: I am so deeply disappointed by the customer service I received from this company. Right from the time I was asking for course date details, up to the time I took the course and still even now. I took my intensive course in July 2023 (also having paid for the practical test) and have been withheld from completing the remaining 5.5 hours owed to me from the course. I have written numerous emails, sent a letter and called the telephone line multiple times to schedule the remaining hours, only to be completely ignored! We are now in February 2024 and this has not been resolved. My course has not been completed and I have been robbed of the money I paid for the practical test. DO NOT BOOK.

Positive experience: If I could give 5 stars solely to my driving instructor John I would do but this review is for the whole course. I went for the morning session. The 'classroom learning' started at 8:00am. If I'm being honest this part of the course was a bit pointless. For 2 hours the group of us were doing mock theory tests on an app widely available on the app store via really old iPads. Paul, our teacher, was abrupt, rude and quite frankly at times unprofessional. When asking questions (you know, like you do when you're trying to learn in a classroom environment) I really was made to look like an idiot from Pauls sarcastic ''what you don't know that?! How can you NOT know that?'' There were other occasions when Paul did this to myself and others in the classroom. I think he was trying to be funny and set a lighthearted tone to the class but talking to other people on the course my feelings were mutual. Out of the Monday - Friday days, 8 hours were used on the classroom theory learning and another 2 hours on the Friday that were used to complete the actual Theory test (which I passed). Overall the learning with Paul was disappointing, bearing in mind the cash that i'd spent!! Ditch the classroom learning and spend the other 8 hours driving in an actual car! Leave the classroom theory stuff for people to get on with at home on the app! When it came to the actual driving - my instructor John was an absolute pleasure to be taught by. Calm, professional at all times, humorous, extremely knowledgeable and put me at ease from the get go. I was driving the new 71reg Peugeot 208 which was a fantastic car to be learning in. Started off slowly round a housing estate and slowly but surely as the week went on progressed onto duel carriageways, roundabouts, manoeuvres and various other aspects of driving. On the Friday we did a mock test - unfortunately I didn't pass and it was not recommend that I go for my test just yet. This is no reflection on John's teaching - more my own ability. Big up John! To sum up for people thinking about going for the 5 Day course it depends on your situation. For myself I needed to learn to drive quite quickly for a new job I had just taken on. If you want to get to a decent standard quickly an intensive driving course is for you. If you're in no particular rush just go for hourly lessons (which is what I ended up doing after the course finished with the AA driving school and passed my test within the next 2 months). I'd be interested to see what the % of people who finished the course on the Friday were actually put forward for a test. Unless you've had some form of driving experience before the course (i had non) I think it's a tall order to expect someone to get behind the wheel of a car on Monday and have expectations that you're going to put in for your test the following week. I guess it depends on the individual/experience they have already.

5Day are sorry to hear of the grievances outlined. However, upon checking our system, we are disappointed that this pupil has not contacted us since their course week of 14th August nor advised of the issues during their course week, but felt it necessary to leave a negative review without giving us the opportunity to rectify the issues advised.

Negative experience: Yesterday was the first day of my lesson with 5day, and it was not the start I had ever expected! My lesson was supposed to start at 2.30 pm, but my instructor was engaged with someone who had a practical test yesterday. He came to the office at 3.45 pm, and then we started. I had to wait for my instructor for one hour and 15 minutes. I was unaware of the delay, so I had to stay at their office. More importantly, there were no staff at the office, and if you left the office, you could not enter the office as no one was there to open the gate. I felt like I was caged in their office and suffocated. It also gave me a sense of insecurity as you are in a place with no one to talk to. That was not the end though, after finishing yesterday's lesson the instructor informed me that he would have to attend another examinee today as well and it would be in the middle of my lesson! He said he would cover these gaps on Friday starting earlier, but I still need to figure out how to manage my time attending this unplanned session. I scheduled everything (personal and professional matters) per the lesson timetable and agreed upon booking the place about one month ago. He cannot just change things all of a sudden! Above all, despite being a UK university graduate, I failed to understand about 90% of his instructions due to his different dialect(He claims he has a different dialect). However, I discovered that the problem was elsewhere. I requested 5day to change my instructor and resolve the timetable issues. They were not helpful in any way. They do not care about breaching the agreement on the timetable. Instead, the lady on the phone keeps threatening to cut the phone line. The most disappointing matter yesterday was that no one bothered to say "Sorry" to keep me waiting for over an hour! No apology, no prior notice for making it late! It is an excellent place for racial discrimination as well. I also want to flag that it was partly a racial discrimination issue. The other two White learners with me started their lesson in time and got instructors whose accent was better than mine. I was chosen to be burdened with their limitations on purpose due to my race and ethnicity. Currently, I am speaking to my lawyer team to take further action. In short, It is a dangerous place for wasting your hard-earned money.

Fantastic experience: Had the best week learing with Paul. Started on Monday passed on Friday. Couldn't of asked for a better instructor

Kane Clifton-Hadley 2 years ago

Negative experience: Really unproffesional, room full of obese old depressed men with no motivation to teach, Rob was especially bad, getting angry about not using the clutch properly which is ironic as i was learning how to drive Do not recommend at all! Ignore the 5 star reviews, find your self a nice understanding driving instructor and do it privately!

Fantastic experience: I passed my test first time using the 5Day Bristol Branch. A big thank you to my instructor Paul Hayward who really built up my confidence and was always on hand for advice and support…. and not to mention a great laugh! Couldn’t recommend enough, if you want to pass quickly and get driving to a high standard, 5Day is the place to go!

Fantastic experience: I did my 5day course in January and had Paul as my instructor. I was really nervous having never driven before taking this course but Paul was really calm and supported my throughout the week, really increasing my confidence. I felt really prepared for my theory test at the end of the week as the theory aspect of the course is well structured and there is lots of time put aside for practice tests. I continued to have some lesson prior to my first test with Paul and he continued to give me confidence in my own driving and definitely helped after I failed my first test. I would really like to thank Paul for all his help whilst I was learning and would recommend him (and 5day) for people learning to drive.

Negative experience: It is all a Scam to Get you to pay even more It is all a Lie, if i could give no stars i would. You pay all the money up front in my case £1628, Then to get told you need to pay for more lessons at the end of the course, oh and if you have a Doctors appointment that you need to attend you will get classed as not doing the course, so you will not qualify for any retest of any kind. Also she Missed only 4 hours of the whole session / Course as she was in for the 8:00am start on every day & until 12 noon on 2 of the days as the course only runs until 2pm So i.e she was in for the Full 5 days But missed only Four hours & NOT 2 Whole days, Also the Course should be an extra half hour long i.e 2:30 but they only run until 2pm so they take away 30 minutes from every day. So in reality they mis sell what is advertised as the day should run until the 2:30 that is stated in the contract.!! i should be applying for a refund as it i was mis sold this course, as advertised it should run until 2:30 but it only runs until 2pm. Biggest steal in learner driving history

Upon checking our records, we note a pupil by the same surname as this reviewer had to leave the course for 2 out of 5 days. 1st day, for work emergency. The second for a hospital appointment. As advised to the pupil, on both occasions, they are no longer eligible for our mentoring programme (free, unlimited correctional lessons) as per our terms and conditions. Not that they would not qualify for a re-test. Also included in our literature supplied at booking, we cannot guarantee a pupil will be test ready at the end of the course. A pupil has a greater chance however, if they attend the course in full. Our course is aimed to supply full training of the DVSA syllabus for both theory and practical over 5 days, not 3. Please check information supplied before leaving reviews.

Negative experience: If i could give no stars I would, the centre in Bristol is a absolute joke. Unprofessional and very rude. The tutor doing the theory was so rude and always making fun of another pupil which made her very upset and low in confidence, after a week of driving my instructor said i wasnt ready for my test, said he would give me lessons untill i was ready and havnt kept to his word and always finds excuses why he cant give me a lesson, even when you do your 5 days your not guaranteed a test as avaliablity is bad in bristol and surrounding areas and 5 day only use certain test centres, loads of tests in newport /Cheltenham etc . Dont use this company

Fantastic experience: Had a really great experience with these guys. John was very patient with me as I was quite nervous and it took a few more lessons for me to get there! I would highly recommend this course (and John) to anyone learning. I would also like to highlight the fact that John gave me a lesson before my test on a day he doesn’t usually work, to work around me and to help me get there. 10/10 would recommend, went above and beyond. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: First time pass! Highly recommended Bristol instruction. Thank you Mo! I attended 5Day Bristol earlier this year and passed my practical test at the first attempt just last week. I completed my theory test before starting with 5Day so I cannot comment on the quality of the theory prep - this review is specifically about the practical driving instruction I received. I was paired with driving instructor Mo and could not be happier with the instruction he provided. Mo was patient and calm, always putting me at ease while I was behind the wheel. He used easy to remember techniques to embed key behaviours such as mirror checking, signalling, and manoeuvres. On the first day, I naturally made many mistakes but Mo was never frustrated or impatient - just provided the right words and encouraged me to try again. He was a pleasant, calming influence beside me throughout, and at the end of the week, when Mo said he thought I was ready for the practical exam, I had full confidence in myself because of the quality of tuition I'd received. Mo and I arranged for a single 2-hour refresher session the week of my exam, just to make sure nothing had been lost in the time between the intensive course and my exam date (because I booked my test myself outside of 5Day, this gap was around 2 months, rather than the 2 weeks or so it would have been had I booked through 5Day). 5Day customer service were very responsive whenever I needed them before and during the course, but it was really the excellent instruction provided by Mo that led me to provide a 5 star review. I started the course with around 20 hours of private lessons from many years ago, and by the end of the week, Mo had me feeling ready and confident for the practical exam. I am very grateful to him for his work with me and would highly recommend him as a driving instructor to anybody.

Fantastic experience: Passed my theory and driving test in November first time!! My driving instructor Paul was amazing, he made me feel so comfortable, was so patient and understanding with my driving. Wouldn’t have been able to pass as quickly as I did if it wasn’t for him, he really built my confidence up. Highly recommend 5 day and would like to say a big Thankyou to Paul.

5DAY Intensive Driving courses Bristol
5DAY Intensive Driving courses Bristol

Thank you for your review. We note you booked your 5DAY course on 11th September 2020 to attend 5DAY w/c 9th November 2020. Unfortunately, due to the Government’s announcement where the whole country was going into a national lockdown for the month of November, from 5th November 2020 onwards, we notified you and other pupils straight away that unfortunately the course due to start 9th November 2020 could not go ahead. At this point, we offered to put your course booking on suspense so you could either reschedule your course to the next available date or request a refund. You advised you would like to rebook for either 9th December if available or the 5th April 2021. Unfortunately 9th December was unavailable so we moved your booking to 5th April 2021 as requested and issued revised confirmation to you. The DVSA announced on Monday 8th March 2021 that all driving lessons and theory tests would now go ahead from 12th April 2021 with driving tests to resume from 22nd April 2021 which is publicly available on the DVSA website. Consequently, 5DAY sent a notification to all pupils who were booked to attend their 5DAY course on 29th March and 5th April 2021 to advise unfortunately due to the DVSA update, these course weeks cannot go ahead. Again, we provided options to either reschedule your course booking to the next available date you prefer or again to cancel and be issued a full refund. Further to your discussion with a member of Customer Services today, it was advised we could hold your course booking on suspense for up to 12 months and should a sooner date become available at the centre, we could put you on a standby list and contact you to offer you the sooner date, which we are offering to any pupil who requests this. Due to high demand, spaces are filling up very quickly from previous customers who have had their course cancelled over the last 12 months since April 2020 due to lockdowns. To assist any pupil, we can and have done, put them on a short notice list in the event a sooner date becomes available. As you can appreciate, we have had to cancel months and months of bookings where most pupils are now advising us of their new preferred course dates after April and all of our centres are very booked up. Our Bristol centre has always been booked very far in advance and the many months of suspended courses has increased the waiting time for a space at the centre. We fully understand a lot of pupil’s require their full driving licence for employment and share pupil’s frustration not being able to learn to drive or take a test during the national lockdown. However, we all have to abide the Government legislation and consequently, we are not able to run our courses until 12th April 2021. 5DAY has provided you with options to either reschedule your course and be put on a standby list should a sooner date become available or to cancel and be issued a refund. We’d like to remind pupils the decision to cease all driving tuition in the UK was taken by the DVSA and UK Government and was beyond 5DAYs control. However, we can confirm you have now requested to be refunded and this request is currently being processed by our Accounts Department.

Positive experience: I am completely dissatisfied of the theory teacher because he did not deepen the theory aspects but was laughing all the time and had no control over the class. Many times the subject being explored was neglected in favour of other things. The last day there had been no teaching. We practised on our own on a tablet although the teacher was on site. He was chatting with others loudly and laughing, disturbing thus those who wanted to concentrate. INSTEAD I am thoroughly satisfied and happy with my driving instructor, whom from scratch has enriched my driving. He is professional, patient, dedicated and competent.

Thank you for your review Valentina - we would ask that in the first instance if you have a complaint about any of your course training that you raise this with the customer services team to investigate on your behalf. We do note that you did use some of your drive time on course week to attend additional 2 hrs 1:1 theory training in the classroom with your instructor however you can if you wish return and attend all the theory training classes again free of charge to assist you

Fantastic experience: Arrived for my driving there was no lateness, my instructor was professional and I used the same car for my test. Started my course 27/1/2020 with Paul Hayward at 5Day Bristol and Passed my driving test yesterday. Couldn't fault his teaching methods. Course is very good, I would say this course suits drivers with previous experence. I say this because I have had over 20hours previous driving experience and felt 5days at 20hours just isn't enough if I was a complete beginner maybe 7days. The block lessons are brilliant though. If you have experience but cant wait weeks or months I'd suggest just do this. Definitely alot quicker. I had previously passed my theory also, so didn't need to focus on that either. Very good instructor Paul!! THANKYOU!

We have been trying to locate your records and cannot find anyone of your name having attended our 5Day centre. All our courses start at the same time each week so do not think you attended one of our courses. We do not state anywhere on website or on phone that test is on course week as you usually sit your theory test Friday morning and until you pass this you cannot apply for a test

Negative experience: I have never taken lessons with this company and from reading the snappy, angry responses to peoples 1 star reviews, I never would. You need to use words like please and sorry to get potential new clients to trust you. The manner in which you respond to your clients is aggressive. Personally, I suggest you change your approach, if you want to win over the public.

Thank you for your comments. These will be passed back to our Head Office to be looked at and taken on board. Bristol centre is and always has been one of our busiest centres. We do strive as with any company to give the pupil the best service possible. Please remember that we do also continue to have and have had many pupils that have been successful in obtaining their licence but they will not necessarily leave a review.

Negative experience: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! You do not get what you pay for, here is a break down of your day. You travel to the driving school, which is a room in an office building. For an hour from 9am until 10am you talk about your theory test. You then meet your driving instructor in the office building lobby, you go out from 10.15am until 12pm. You are dropped back to the office building for lunch, where they have an over priced cafe. You then go back out driving from 12.30pm until 14.30pm. You are then dropped backed in the office building. You are taken to the room in the office building. Where you are shown slides and utube videos and asked to take mock test after mock test of your theory lessons. The apps used and slides used can all be found on utube or downloaded for free from Google. It is all tests and information you can take from the comfort of your own home for free. Their success rate for you passing the theory test with them is 75% with 15 hours of retaking mock test after mock test you would expect that to be 100%. Their driving success rate for passing is 45% they confirm this is not for first time round. I can assure you that nobody, who has no experience or very little will pass their driving test with this company in the time manner they are expecting. I stuck at this course myself for two days. Then complained and asked for a refund. I was happy enough for them to deduct the two days. They refused. You also have to pay £68 for your test on top of the course which is near £1200. If you fail you are then expected to pay another £150 to retake. £68 the test £60 for hire of the car and £25 for the fast track process. I broke down the price £20 to £25 usually for an hour lesson driving. I will use the higher end for this. 4 hours a day driving £25 over 5 days = £500 £23 for theory test £25 for fast track booking this = £548 Which leaves £650 plus £68 for your test. What are you getting for that £650? Use of a room in a building being shown utube videos and free mock test apps for your theory. All which can be found for free on any tablet or modern phone. You have to travel to the driving school (office room) and home again. You have to take time from work and pay for a child minder if you have children, on top of all these costs. You are not guaranteed a past and their website reviews are based mainly by students who passed their theory. These students are actually asked to write the reviews for them too. I was told if I did not pass my driving test which many do not first time. That it would be cheaper for me to take lessons elsewhere. Students at this school were left stranded as their drivers went off with others to take them to tests so did not even get full hours. I missed out on an hour myself for this reason. So did in total 7 hours not 8 actual driving. They will not refund you and make up every excuse for their reasons not too. I was told it was just to gain driving experience. However I am 7 and a half months pregnant and I made it very clear when booking I was looking to pass my test before my newborn arrived. This is not a review from somebody who failed, as I stated I did not go back after the 2nd day. This is a review from somebody who feels they have been scammed for their hard earned cash. Even at the DVLA centre for the theory, students were asked to leave as the head office had not written their names in when booking the theory test. The reputation of this company was not good within this building either. I have wasted all my savings and am now having to work extra hours whilst heavily pregnant to try and regain that money back as they refuse to refund me, all in the hope I can actually book some more lessons with a company that is all about the driving. You expect to pay to be on the road and in a car. Not sat in a room taking a mock test you can sit and take on your phone at any given time. My advise is to download 'Driving Theory Test 4 in 1 Kit from Google play' and book lessons with an instructor that picks you up from your door. Do not waste your money!

We are sorry you have felt the need to leave this review however we do feel you have been slightly unfair in your comments as our records do show you initially wanted to book an automatic course. Our Sales team did advise we do not have the automatic option at our Bristol centre however after ringing around and finding other instructors were booked you chose to book a manual course with us. You stated on the 2nd day of your course you were struggling with the clutch control and you were advised to persevere as your course cannot be cancelled once started , likewise we cannot cancel your course once started. You chose not to attend the remaining 3 days of your course and did not return for the remaining theory training which resulted in you failing your theory test. It is unfair to state the course does not work when you have not completed the course in full. The government pass rate for theory test is less than 43% however we regularly obtain over 75% pass rate on our courses and that is due to the staff explaining the theory scenarios along with the driving element. Pupils that teach themselves on an app are more likely to fail which is why the pass rate nationally is reducing each year for the theory test. You do have to pay the DVSA to be tests for your practical driving test and it clearly states on all invoice receipt when booking we cannot charge for this until the pupil has successfully passed their theory test. The DVSA test fee is £62. In the instance you should make a mistake on your driving test then you have the choice to either arrange your own retest and supply your own vehicle OR you can have 5DAY arrange this all for you including fast tracking a short notice practical driving test instead of having to wait months. There is obviously a fee for us to arrange the test the fastrack service and use of the instructors vehicle again but we also give you the option to choose to have free unlimited correctional lessons to fix the serious fault that causes you to fail the test , even if you took your test with someone else and failed. Just to point out you can obtain your refreshments from anywhere , the cafe in the same building as our training room has nothing to so with 5DAY. We can confirm that due to refurbishments we are no longer in that building. It clearly states on our website and when speaking with our sales team that the course is 5 days Mon to Fri so you would need a week off work/college to attend. We are sorry that you found this inconvenient regarding child care. In hindsight you may have wanted to consider regular weekly lessons to benefit your personal situation. All pupils when they either pass their theory test and / or practical test are of course asked if happy to do so to write a review. During any course week instructors may be taking previous course pupils to their tests likewise when a pupil applies for their driving test they will be taking this within another course pupils course time however any time lost is always made up by the course instructors so pupils are not "abandoned" but organised with the instructors to be collected once test has been completed. Had you completed your course in full any driving time missed due to a test would have been made up before the end of the course but unfortunately you did not give us the opportunity to do so as you left the course on the Tuesday. We do feel it is unfair to state you have been "scammed".That would indicate you were forced into a situation you knew nothing about. Clearly from your phone calls to the sales team you were made aware of only manual vehicles being available and the course times and process was explained in detail before you committed to making your booking. Ultimately the decision to proceed was made by you and you did have plenty of time prior to the course had you changed your mind to cancel the course.

Fantastic experience: Mo is the best instructor. Really brought me out of my shell as a driver. I had already tried and failed to pass my practical test roughly a year before I took this course. In the space of a week I already feel more confident on the road. I am very pleased with the service and the standard to which service is provided.

Fantastic experience: Would highly recommend this course. Everyone from Alex to the instructors have been friendly and incredibly supportive. I managed to pass my theory test first time thanks to Alex and her lessons. I have been lucky enough to have had Rob as my driving instructor, and he has been nothing but patient with me who came into this course with no driving experience. He has adapted his teaching to be suit the way I learn and has boosted my confidence in driving. Thank you to everyone at 5Day for teaching me.

FIRSTLY I had 5 people on my course and 1 out of 5 of us got put in for the driving test but he could already drive a motorbike, secondly its a lieeeeee if they think your not ready to take a test they wont put you in for it which means you don't not get unlimited lesson! DONT NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! they make you feel uneasy/ pressure/ stressed! I cant not believe the radio is promoting them!

Beth Woolf 6 years ago

Positive experience: So i’ll Start by saying that the course is great for gaining knowledge on driving. theory training is brilliant and I passed first go. The practical side of things is very intense though with 4 hour driving lessons everyday for the 5 days. If your not prepared to put your all in I wouldn’t bother attal because the whole week all I have been thinking about is driving and it has been mentally hard. What some people take a year to learn or more has been crammed in to 5 days with this course. Rob was my driving instructor and he was absolutely brilliant, best driving instructor I could of got to be honest made me feel at ease from day one, he’s friendly and he’s also very patient which is important. I totally recommend him and I have learned a lot from him in a short space of time which is great On the Monday I had no driving confidence and experience and by the Thursday I could pretty much do it all on my own but I do need a little bit more experience before I am test ready so technically I didn’t do it in 5 days but not everyone is going too. I am 80% ready though! Nothing really bad to say other than there was a bit of waiting around for the instructors for a while if they were on a test with another pupil ect and on the first day Alex never introduced herself, but she was very nice to me and also made me feel at ease too. I do feel it may be a bit misleading on the website aswell as of your not test ready by the end of the 5 days you have to pay for more lessons if your not ready but they do fast track you once you are ready! Great course I appreciate the help and support from everyone I have been involved with at 5 day thank you.

Fantastic experience: Had Connor as my instructor, very happy with the course and my overall experience. I've learned so much and set a strong foundation of the skills needed, and have developed them greatly with his guidance. He pushed me when needed and with his encouragement I have improved so much and achieved way more than I thought I could. Brilliant course, would highly recommend whether you're a complete beginner or have more experience.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant course , went into it knowing nothing and passed my theory , didn't feel confident enough to pass my practical but my Instructor thought i only needed a few more hours and i would be fine. My instructor was Mark Cotterll who was brilliant, easy to get along with and absolutely hilarious. He adapted his teaching style to suit my needs and i felt like i learnt a lot by the end of the course.

Mitchell Summerill 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: The 5 day course is worth the money when you know what your paying for! With other reviews there seems to be some confusion with what's on offer however the service that is offered is worth the price. No where does it say its a definite pass. the aim of the course is to get you to a pass standard within 5 days. if you are not at that standard then you are not entitled to the free lessons. however if you are at the standard and then fail the test then you do get free correction lessons. i would say it helps to have some experience driving and using the controls before starting the course however it is not needed. my instructor (Rob) was very helpful when teaching me and was friendly, he helped me get to a pass standard and recommended me to book my test on Friday (4/1/19) my test is booked for 8/1/19 and i feel confident that i can do well. the classroom work is also very helpful in building your knowledge to pass your theory test which i had on the Thursday however you may have it on Friday depending on what has been booked. overall this course is very intensive and you must want to learn to complete it, do not do it assuming your going to pass on the Friday because if you do not put in the effort then you will not. however i highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn in a quick way.

Connor Riddle 7 years ago

Positive experience: Driving was good and I made good progress despite not being ready for my test, the theory classes could be more interactive to keep people engaged. But I passed the theory so it clearly worked.

sarah young 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: I have recently undertaken the 5 day course. I passed my theory first time with help from Alex. Unfortunately I just failed my practical test although this was due to my nerves not my driving ability. The only thing I dislike is within the marketing it claims to have you at test standard in 5 days. However if you have no driving experience this is in reality is going to be a long shot. My advice is to have a couple of lessons before you start the course just to learn the controls and grasp the basics. You will give yourself much more of a fighting chance of passing in the 5 days. The theory part of the course in my opinion could be done on your own with an app, and then Google the answers you don't understand. I will say though it is handy to have a teacher explaining it as she understands how to get you to retain the information. My theory instructor was good, she explained everything I asked and went over things with me. She was also prepared to give people a bit of extra help if they were struggling. My driving instructor was Craig he was brilliant, he got from not being able to turn a car on to being able to drive on a duel carriage way at 70mph and deal with major roundabouts in 2 days. I was not a natural driver due to my anxiety I panicked alot. Craig however accommodated my anxiety and gave me plenty of encouragement and breaks. He is an outstanding instructor, firm but fair which is what I needed. We also did have a laugh along the way! I would reccomend the course to anyone, although if starting from scratch do have them lessons beforehand!

Alex Jefferies 7 years ago

Negative experience: Massive rip off, 18-20 hours of lessons in a car ( works out to almost 60 pound an hour) then they want you to sit in a class room all day listening to stuff you can learn on the app. Every day I had a different instructor with a different car telling me different rules. By the end of the week only one person from my group was test ready and he already had years of driving experience. I had one lesson with AA and they've made a better driver then 5day could in a week.

5DAY Intensive Driving courses Bristol
5DAY Intensive Driving courses Bristol

Alex, Why didn't you bring this to our attention at the time instead of providing feedback that suggested all was well. Had you attended the de-brief at the end of the course instead of leaving and us not hearing from you since, would have provided us with the opportunity to put things right for you. Your statement regarding one person being ready is just not true. Please contact us ASAP so that we can explain how we can assist you further.

James Gibson 7 years ago

Negative experience: The 5day course was expensive compared to competitors. It also promises to provide retest with refresher lessons which they failed to do so. Alex the manager was rude, impatient and anxious providing an inhospitable driving environment.

Matilda Parry 7 years ago

Positive experience: Mo was great at teaching a very methodical way of driving. He teaches you "fail proof" ways to do all the manoeuvres. I wouldn't recommend this course for a complete beginner you'll more than likely end up needing more lessons at the end. But if you've done a few hours and know the basic controls it was 100% do able! I feel pretty much ready to take my test on Monday. For the theory I did alot of revision before hand with the DVSA app but you could do the lessons as a complete beginner! I passed first time with an amazing score so I couldn't fault that. I think one thing that wasn't made totally clear whilst booking is that you have to pay for your driving test on top and you don't get much choice in dates/times so be aware when you have a job this can make it a logistical nightmare! So pre-warn your work that it's more than likely won't be just 5days it will include a few hours extra for your driving test the week after.

Fantastic experience: 5day is a great course, the theory training was very helpful and all the students in my class passed. My instructor was rob and he was great, super friendly, encouraging and I made loads of progress, definitely great value for money!

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff, Alex was brilliant with the theory! Was fairly nervous going in with not much experience. Ian was very patient and kind, improved my driving/confidence tremendously! They definitely push you to achieve what you need. Definitely recommend this course! Although I wouldn’t recommend it to complete beginners who may be fairly slow learners. As I don’t feel you would be test ready in 5days at that stage, meaning potentially spending more money. Overall, lovely people, great service, worth the money. :)

Fantastic experience: Amazing course, learnt so much! Ian Johnstone taught me Auto, I was completely confident and could drive well by the end of the 5 days! the best teacher.

Doyin Mansell 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: This course was brilliant! I already had a little bit of driving experience (8 hours) with an awful instructor, so was nervous to start learning again. The driving instructor, Conner, was great! He was really relaxed and chill, but pushed me when needed. He got me safer and more confident in driving, and test ready in the 20 hours. The theory instructor, Alex, was great too. We went through material quite quickly, and almost everything was covered. The theory test was booked on Monday for Friday morning, and everyone in our group passed. The course is expensive, and you probably could get same number of driving hours and theory instruction elsewhere, however the fact they fast track all the tests and the insurance policy that if you fail your practical you get free unlimited correction lessons makes the course value for money! Let’s hope I pass my test first time!

Jasmine Butt 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: Learnt really quickly at 5Day, didn’t think I would feel so comfortable behind the wheel so early on. Mo is a great instructor, he is friendly and calm so you can relax and think clearly, but also firm enough so you remember your mistakes.

Dave Hurst 7 years ago

Positive experience: i found the course to be very helpful with my needs as i passed my theory test on the thursday of the course, however as a complete beginner driver i felt i was still not able to drive independently and safely by the friday. (i also injured my knee and could not complete my last 4hrs of driving on the friday but was taken for a drive and went through my faults) my instructor was very firm but equally good! i will now need a further few more hours driving practice then i will return to 5day to book my practical with them overall a good experience

Kerry Webb 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: Fantastic company, Would recommend to all beginners. Ian was friendly and very helpful. The classroom had plenty of room and wasn't to intense.

Paula Fernandez 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with 5 day and got my licence on the first try. Everyone was very nice and my instructor Ian was outstanding! That said, I don't think I would recommend this course if you don't have previous experience or are not a fast learner as if you're not ready to take the test by the end of the week you will have to arrange extra paid lessons. I think this is something worth considering before investing £1000 on the course.

Oliver Tasker 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: I Did 5 day to pass my test sooner than by having lessons weekly and I would recommend to anyone thinking of doing it. It has been an amazing experience and have gained a lot of confidence

Positive experience: Would recommend this course! It is very much true to it's nature of being intensive however, so be prepared to work hard through out the week.

Shwetha Surendran 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: It was great learning driving with 5 days Intense Driving course. The course is covers theory as well as practical guidance equally. As a beginner, I felt its too easier to learn driving continuously with regular classes. My trainer Mr. Mohammad was too nice and patient to teach me guide me . IT was great learning with them.

Jack Bennett 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: Done a week crash course here was very pleased in my progress over the week. Had an excellent instructor rob was very understanding and a great bloke will deffo recommend this to anyone!!!

Amy Murdoch-Davis 7 years ago

Negative experience: I don't know where to start... I second all of the other one star reviews that this is an absolute waste of money. The course costs a £1000. You recieve 20 hours of driving. My instructor charges £30 an hour so thats a total of £600. Theory and Practical tests around £50. So the theory "support" you are paying for is £350. Let me break down what you are paying £350 for. To use a £5 app. My issues went further than that. The theory trainer took a dislike to me. She gave us incorrect information about car seats which I questioned her on, I felt like this is where the discord originated from. She took massive issues with me on things that are pretty standard for a person with ADHD which I had clearly explained I had on my initial form. In the Bristol centre you need the trainer to faciliate access to the lift. On the second day she completely ignored me so I had to ask for help from the receptionist. After a very unprofessional arguement I walked out and spent about an hour in tears the second day. I had paid £350 to be treated like this. I reported this behaviour and found 5 Day to be dismissive and unhelpful. They are currently not responding to my emails. I decided to not attend the theory or briefings and only make use of the driving time as my instructor was lovely. He was firm but an excellent teacher who was able to push me well. He was considerate of my ADHD and accomodated short regular breaks. I was guilt tripped by customer services who bigged up the importance of the theory training. Somehow... I managed to pass on my own... with 48/50 for the questions. Please don't waste your money. All of the claims made on their website are tenuous at best. I will be contacting citizen's advice if I do not amicably recieve a partial refund from 5Day and will not give up pursuing them.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had Very good time with this company. was very nervous as the start but Alex and rob both made me feel confident about both tests. Class room stuff was very helpful. It can get a bit long winded with the Amount of tests and questions you end up answering but it definitely pays off. The driving side was a very good experience I was lucky enough to be thought by rob Harris who is a very knowledgable instructor with a lot of experience. I would recommend him 100%. Negative experience: Terrible value for money please avoid!! Also don't be fooled by the  brilliant marketing of passing in 5 days and the z list celebs that they have advertising for them... this course is not designed for begginers like they say it is unless you are a complete natural which 90% of people won't be & if you are not ready for your test within the 20 hours which is so common then you will not be entitled to unlimited lessons which is not stated clear enough!! So if you have a limited budget to get a license please go somewhere else as there is so much better value for money out there & the theory training is nothing more then an iPad projecting a £5 paid app onto a white board in a class room with some mock tests which are available for free! And After a long stressfull battle i finally managed to get half of my money back which was spent on  professional training and now have a  license no thanks to these cowboys...

5DAY Intensive Driving courses Bristol
5DAY Intensive Driving courses Bristol

Ive read your file and see that there were issues with your expectations of the 5Day course, not least that you expected on day one to take a test at the end of the week. As you pointed out, everyone is different and learning takes place at various rates. This course alone was not suitable for you as you struggled with the control of the car and you do not have an natural aptitude to driving in general. This is evident by the fact that purchased more lessons since the course end. I note that you were on the course last year and that you received your partial refund last year so its a shame that you feel you have to slate the course 2 months after the event. It is not correct to say that 90% of people do not have a a natural ability to learn to drive and that the course hours are not enough for the majority of our customers as can be seen by the fact that over 36,000 pupils have passed with 5Day. Thank you for your review and now that you have your full licence drive safely in the future.

Negative experience: I am a genuine customer the only reason you’ve put that is to obviously reject the 1star raising I put a negative review and 5day blocked me from booking my test by fast track until I deleted or edited my review to something more positive it’s rediculous oh and if you go to your test with a car with 5LDAY written all over it the examiner will have a pre judgement of your ability to drive this is by far the worst company to lear to drive just do it the normal way and Learn of instructors weekly I passed with AA all are good but don’t loose £1200 like me oh and that’s 1000 for the week and 200+ for test

Negative experience: I recently paid for my daughter to learn to drive with 5Day and unfortunately in hindsight this was a very bad mistake. We had a bad experience with them and would not recommend them under any circumstances. Please also be aware that they are not registered or a member of any trade association so if you have a dispute with them it is very difficult to get anywhere as in our case they have just refused to communicate with us any further. I made the mistake of believing the hype on their website but if you actually look at what they are offering it is in most cases not only unrealistic but also very poor value. You only get 20 hours of actual driving with the rest of the time in the classroom. If you compare that with a range of driving schools you can easily get the equivalent 20 hours driving for around £400 so in effect you are paying £600 to pass your theory test. We are now using another driving school and that's working out well but they they were amazed that my daughter had not been taught some of the very basic driving instructions. Unfortunately we made a very bad decision in using them and hopefully this review will save others from making the same mistake

I recommend Joe as a driving instructor.

Negative experience: Not what I had expected a £970 course to get you, where do i start.... well in our Introduction to the course we had been told we’d be taking our theory test on Friday, the next day this had changed to Thursday... In our classroom lessons we only went over each subject for 5 mins before moving on to the next subject, we don’t get enough time to digest the information being told to us.... if you have £970 buy a bulk of lessons and revise on your own... the only good thing about this course is the amount of time you get behind the wheel during the day. If anyone’s interested in this course be cautious of the “SMALL PRINT”

We have spoken to the branch Manager Alex who is disappointed that you have taken to social media to air your views rather than tell her each day while you where there on the course. However, she does have a right to reply and she has advised us that you did not do what you were asked to do for your theory. You did not have a copy of the highway code, unlike the other pupils on the course, and you did not do any of the homework she set you. When she tried to review theory topics with you on a one to one basis you refused her help. You were also not told the theory test was on Friday as was evident by the theory test list posted in the training room.

Fantastic experience: My driving instructor Joe Donlin was a great instructor. He taught me how to drive and most importantly he taught me how to do everything safely. Much thanks to him because I am now ready to book my driving test.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely loved having Cilla as my Instructor. I couldn't have asked for anyone better, she went above and beyond and my experience wouldn't have been the same without her.

Fantastic experience: Great experience as either a very strong foundation or guaranteed pass for learning to drive. They were fully accommodating where possible and happy to guide different students at the right pace to suit them. Worth it, but not worth considering this to be an easy pass, although they will continue to work with you should you fail first time.

Fantastic experience: A great course and would highly recommend! I had John as my instructor and he was absolutely brilliant. Pushed me to reach my full potential where needed and makes you feel extremely comfortable. John is so nice and friendly. I even had to miss a whole day of driving due to ill health and still passed first time thaniks to John! He goes above and beyond for his pupils and I'm so happy John was my instructor! Alex who teaches in the classroom is also really lovely and great at explaining things to do with your theory.

Fantastic experience: Excellent course!! It is Very tiring and you are given a lot of information but the outcome overall is great. Very friendly driving instructors, my personal one was excellent, would definitely recommend to anyone that is determined and doesn't mind hard work :-)

Fantastic experience: Not saying it's easy, in fact it's very difficult, however I've exponentially improved my driving. If you want to improve and are willing to withstand the intensity of the course then this is definitely for you.
