Sue's Driving School

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience with Sue's driving school. I booked and paid for 3 days of training and my test fee. When I initially contacted Sue and spoke to her over the phone I was quoted a price for 3 full days of training then given a seperate test date (Which I was charged 150 pounds for even though I've since found out the test fee is only 115). At the end of the 3 days of training (Which was fine bar a terrible morning with Sue as my instructor, where she completely frazzled me and totally knocked my confidence as she was at me from the moment we drove out of the gates and constantly gave me conflicting and confusing information and then berated me for making small mistakes, or mistakes I hadn't even made). She recommended I do extra training 'to be extra confident'. I said I would think about it and let her know, then when I responded with thank-you but I'd like to go ahead with my test as I felt reasonably confident I could pass - She turned rather awful and told me unless I paid for extra training (1100 pounds worth!) they would not allow me to take the test in their lorry, I was dangerous, she could not let me drive 'unsupervised' (also completely insulting the examiners by saying they're only examiners and are useless) and that I was going to cause an accident! This is the first I had heard any of this so called dangerous driver feedback over the whole 3 days. Sue then tried to tell me I owed them 1100 for the extra training (that she had booked without my confirmation) and that regardless of wether or not I took the training I would be paying for it. I told her I would not be taking the extra training as I couldn't afford it (which is why I didn't confirm it when she suggested it, I told her I'd need to see if I could find the extra money) and she told me take out a credit card or get a loan from somewhere/anywhere - But that she didn't care, just pay her the money. I went to another trucking company after this awful experience, after x1 4hour lesson - to take me through a couple of the test routes and to get used to the lorry (split manual gearbox) I passed my test first time with 3 minor driving faults. You are allowed 13, so I hardly scrapped through and obviously the examiner did not feel I was a dangerous driver! The owner of the other company also was not surprised to hear any of this about Sue as she is apparently quite well known in the industry for this kind of behaviour! Absolutely awful experience and I am only writing this so that no one else should have to go through what I experienced as I have since spoken to multiple people that have had scarily similar experiences with Sue, so its not uncommon. I understand some people have had good experiences with Sue and I'm happy for them, however I really feel that she tried to take advantage of a young, female foreigner and was just trying to get as much money out of me as she possibly could, so train with her at your own risk though I would highly recommend against it!

From the first day of training till passing the CAT D Test always explained everything fully to ensure I felt in control at the wheel and keep me calm in areas that could be challenging. Fantastic experience: After having failed a HGV test with a different instructor who I realised in hindsight had given me poor training, I met Sue, trained and then passed with her first time. She's passionate about teaching to a high standard with very thorough training & advice. Her vehicles are also chosen to be beginner friendly which will help a lot. Right up until the last few minutes before my test started she was going over Show me Tell me questions again to make sure I knew what I was doing. I was even given warning for my motorcycle test on which roundabouts that candidates fail on. She really wants her students to be prepared enough to pass no matter what. So if you want to give yourself the best chance to get through that test with a certificate to show for it, I would definitely recommend her.

Fantastic experience: I was struggling with other companies in the area to get a response. Sue answered the phone and got myself booked in there and then for my Module 4. Can’t fault the team at all, friendly and reliable! Training felt comfortable and there was absolutely zero pressure felt. Tested on the same day there and then makes it such an easy process to get completed.

Fantastic experience: I have recently failed my LGV C+E test using a different training provider, instead of to wait for two months for another test, I have contacted Sue. I was taken onboard immediately and had my additional training and test in a perfect time slot sorted within few days. My instructor Miranda is a hero, knowing that I had a very little knowledge of Swindon and wasn’t familiar with the area, she made sure that I’m ready for my test the next day. Very calm, friendly and confidence building tuition that allowed me to pass my C+E. I can’t thank you enough, you’ve made my dream come true. Fantastic experience: Having used another training company and failed my first attempt at class 1, I was told that there were no more tests available for months and was put on a waiting list for a cancellation to do a retest. I phoned other companies and no one had anything available or wanted to sell me a days retest until I found Sue! She makes sure to book lots of test slots and gave me a date within 2 weeks do a retest. Sue was so friendly and helpful when I called her and explained my situation and really went out of her way to offer me something that would suit me. On the day of my test I had Miranda as my instructor and she immediately put me at ease and understood what I needed. I am not local to Swindon so it was quite daunting to try and get my head round the area but Miranda did a great job and showed my everything I needed to know in the short time before my test. I had a great time and could relax into the driving... And I passed! Many thanks to Sue and Miranda you really took the weight off my shoulders and the result feels great.

I am so pleased I did and what attracted me to them, was they only undertake 1 on 1 training. The training given by both Sue and Simon is second to none. Fantastic experience: I decided to go to Sue to get my class 1 license initially as this was one of the places that could give me training and test dates within a reasonable time. Not being local to Swindon I had to not only learn how to drive the class 1 but the roads too. One of the the first things that was said to me on arrival is we aim not only to get you up to a standard to pass your test but to make you feel confident you can leave here and feel ready to start you future career driving. I have to say that was exactly what happened. This may sound counter intuitive but throughout my training I had all three instructors. This actually helped on test day as you are used to having different people sat next to you so it's not a shock when the examiner gets in. Each instructor offers extremely good knowledge and if you can listen and go with the mindset to learn just soak up all the knowledge they give you. If your unsure of anything i urge you just ask as the instructors years of knowledge is invaluable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to get their HGV or Bus license.

I litrally could not of done it with out a very supportive boss and the amazing team at Sue's Driving school Sue, Simon and Miranda you are all Incredible and so kind and caring aswell as being amazing instructors. Thank you from the bottom of My heart for putting up with my panic moments my memory blanks and the genuine "Im Never going to be able to do it moments" you explained stuff in serveral different ways untill I did get it. Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this team and would not only recommend, but insist you give them a call. I passed first time. There is loads of room for improvement!! Most awkward is if you listen to your faults and you know they have repeatedly told you to take causion. I guess that is just nerves. Simon was always the first one to get in the cab with me, bless his heart. And Miranda really had her hands full most of the other days. I had so much fun every day. And Sue, main chief in charge. You are doing a good job keeping everything as organised. I can't wait to see them around Swindon and give them some of my over energetic "hello's".

Fantastic experience: I Have done my training over 4 days with Sue’s driving school for C+E, and I can’t fault any of it.. Sue and her staff were very polite and professional with a huge wealth of knowledge, I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to learn to drive no matter the vehicle… Location of the driving school is also great, you get to drive a variety of roads as you would in the real world.. not being restricted to just Swindon town but also out in the countryside and motorway giving you the skills you need..

Negative experience: Sue has got Worst Management that I have ever been. As an Asian guy I had done my Cat A,B,C from other place non of them had treated me like how she did. She will treat you differently. I paid £1355 and received only 3 hours lessons. I had been telling her the date and time she provided to me is not suitable for me from the first day. I told her, I am not in a rush you can push back as much as you like but she don’t want to change dates and time and don’t want to give refund aswell. She only look after her self and money. She wants to take cancellation charge if you don’t come on the date she provided even thought you have never agreed. I wested my hard earned money without doing anything. I learned my lesson never get fooled and pay early. My training was cancelled on 18-02-22 because of wind. I agreed and she was offered me next day Saturday. I told her I am not available I have to look after my child give me other dates and she told me child care is not her problem, if I don’t come I dont get training nor any refund. I had to contact Swindon Citizen’s Advice than only she came back to me and offered me training on sunday. I received my training on 20-02-22. Before starting the lesson, Instructor told me that Sue told him to train me only for 3 hours even though he wants to train me more and also he told me contact her and also said at the same time Sue is busy ,so don’t call her until 15:00. Instructor told me my driving is good and just a minor things to look after like looking mirrors more frequently. I got my training evidence he provided me after the training. No where is stated that my driving is not on standard. I never met Sue in person and she haven’t seen my driving how can she judge my driving.I called her after 15:00 but no answer. and next day she came up with these dates march 1 and 7 by texting me. I told her I am not available, push back as you can I am not in a rush but she don’t want.she was refusing my calls so I had to contact on message and emails.I got all text and emails proof. I never agreed those dates and she keep forcing me to come on those dates. As she said child care is not her problem, and aslo threatened me to block me if I kept messaging to change the dates. you can judge what kind of girl (Sue) she is ?? I am wondering all this happening because I am an Asian??

Fantastic experience: First of all, I searched Google for a driving school. I found Sue draving schoool. I took the number and got in touch. I never drove a truck just my little car in short SUE SIMION and Bobby started from scratch with me! I have no words to thank them for helping me get the C + E license from category B in just one month! If you want to get the C + E permit, don't hesitate to go to SUE Draving School! You will convince yourself of the quality and comfort of this school! I say this because there is not only the permit: You leave with a good experience and a good behavior, let me tell you that there: MoD 4, reversing test can be obtained, you don't have to worry about looking for another school! Fantastic experience: First class training from Sue, Simon and Bobby. They got me through my C+E test first time and also my CPC mod 4. Their fleet is modern, well maintained and gives a professional impression from the start. All aspects of HGV driving were explained clearly and as often as needed! I would not hesitate in recommending Sue and her team. Others may be cheaper but in my opinion not better value. The 1 to 1 tuition, and the quality of that tuition, makes Sue’s Driving School the best choice in my opinion.

Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed my training with Sue, Simon and Bobby. After getting in touch they helped guide me through my Mod 4, and Mod 3a/b tests to passing my C+E in about a month. Fantastic experience: I can highly recommend Sue and Simon. I have just passed my trailer test and they made the whole experience a breeze! They are both such genuine people. They really want you to do well and will do whatever they can to help. They even gave up a few hours on a Sunday afternoon completely free of charge to go over a few things I was worried about before my test. If you are going to do your trailer test then don’t book with anyone else!

Fantastic experience: Sue and Simon are a great team of professional instructors. They will make sure you pass your test. Sue gave me an honest opinion about my driving and therefore I always had food for thought before my next lesson or test. Simon went through all the questions making sure I knew them throughly before I went for my mod 3 and 4 tests. I was treated with respect throughout my training. I would like to thank them for all their hard work to help me get my Category C licence.

Fantastic experience: Sue has a refreshing approach to driving lessons in that she encourages the parent to sit in on the lesson, thereby enabling them to consolidate what she has taught. Her experience is clearly evident, encouraging independent thinking to control the car according to traffic and road conditions, and to best prepare the student for whatever they might encounter whilst driving. My son, who already had some driving experience but had never had a formal driving lesson, spent a half day with Sue, and went on to pass his test on first attempt barely two months after turning 17. Thanks Sue for all your help!

Fantastic experience: Sue and Simon were both excellent trainers. They built my confidence whilst always pushing me on. The lorry was really nice and easy to drive. Fantastic experience: Sues driving school is definitely the place to go !! I had not driven a hgv in 10 years and Simon made me feel so welcome and at ease, he is a bloody good instructor ! After having only 1 driving refresher course I'm now confident again, and now driving class 1 for a agency and its going amazing , all thanks to sues driving school !! sue is a fountain of knowledge and I have called her many times for advice and she was always at the end of the phone to help, guide and reassure me. I feel like I haven't just had a driving refresher course but more like I am always welcome to be under there wing for as long as I need when I need help. this says a lot about just how amazing Simon and sue are !! I recommend sues driving school to anyone who is wanting to drive hgv, I was nervous but I'm now on my journey into the world of driving all down to the help of sue and Simon .

Fantastic experience: I can't thank Sue and Simon enough for there professional but friendly training for my trailer test. 2 years ago I tried with another company and failed 3 times, I forgot about it and here I am I today with my trailer licence after just one day of training from sue on Wednesday and today a few hours with Simon. I have realised since that my original training was not good enough and did not prepare me properly for the test. Fantastic experience: Well what can I say? Sue & Simon thank you so much for getting me through not only my practical driving test (D1Minibus) but also all 3 theory tests, plus Module 4! All passed 1st time! It was beyond my wildest dreams that I could achieve this so quickly - it would never have happened without your patience and amazing teaching skills. You have now whetted my appetite to have a go at the D category - I’ll be back! Highly recommended! Part 2!! Well today they have also got me through my Cat D licence! Fantastic experience: I have recently passed my class 2 with Sue and Simon and have nothing but praise for them and their teaching. I was very nervous to start with but the 1 on 1 training was exceptional and put me at easy very quickly. What I found good was they assessed my driving and then worked out a lesson plan based around my work patterns instead of me having to book a week off work like with other companies. I look forward to coming back soon to do my class 1 with you.

Fantastic experience: I found everyone at Sue's Driving school increadably helpful and the one to one training helped me correct 15years of bad habits very quickly. Look no further if you want a driving school with a personal approach. I will be using them again in the future.

Negative experience: My experience of using this driving school was tainted with a mixture of opinions, and I can highly recommend Simon as he was far more productive with my lessons, including a good amount of time spent doing theory work. Sue on the other hand, was the complete opposite, as I remember my first lesson where she carried out a general driving assessment of myself which is expected, but what is not expected is that this 45 min drive around Swindon was in my own personal car and fuel? Surely that should be done in your company vehicles? Due to my employment with said company coming to an abrupt end, my boss at Richardson Marquees was informed about what Sue was telling me to do once I'd passed my test, and this will be denied by her, but I remember very clearly up at the testing station when she took me up there and were parked up. We were talking about the fact that my company who were paying for the lessons had got me to sign a long term work contract....to which Sue had told me several times that the contract wasn't "Worth the paper it's written on" and that she could put me in contact with multiple driving agency's once I'd passed my class 2. So please beware as she's very quick to slag off every driving school in Swindon. She has more faces than a rubix cube!

Fantastic experience: Today, I have passed my category C (first time). Sue and Simon are fantastic instructors and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking to get training. They helped my bad habits, confidence and all round driving. They helped me pass all my theory + CPC which i passed everything first time. Do not look anywhere else for training. Fantastic experience: Choosing a Class 1 instructor can be tricky and daunting. It’s an expensive process so you don’t want to get it wrong. I AM DELIGHTED I CHOSE SUE. I was put off by the scale and ‘hard sell’ of some of the larger outfits. Also I didn’t want an off-the-peg course as I had arranged my own medical, and theory tests. Sue and Simon are so relaxed and friendly, they really put you at your ease. They are calm and encouraging instructors who offer personal, one-to-one tuition, based on what YOU need. Sue’s assessment was bang on. I did three days driving tuition, including my CPC test, and I enjoyed every minute of it! I don’t think I could have passed my practical test with less training, but I didn’t end up paying for more than I needed. Short spaces between my tuition days gave me time to go out and practice on my own so I was well prepared for the test. I welcomed being reminded of my bad habits (mirrors!) and enjoyed Sue’s teaching style. The day before my test, I drove with Simon, Sue’s husband. This was also really useful in developing my confidence and clarity of thought for my test. I heartily recommend Sue’s Driving School!
