5DAY Birmingham Intensive Driving Courses

Negative experience: My son has been waiting over a year for his test . When he called 5 Day his position in the queue had not changed from the last time he phoned over 6 months before. He will soon have to take another written test . Absolutely joke

Negative experience: I completed a 5days course in January 2023 and think there are some things people should be aware of... The theory training was done well, it's largely completed on iPad but the instructor was present and always willing to help. I passed first time so no complaints. The quality of the practical driving lessons was good I couldn't ask more from my instructor Nadim, great guy. There's ~20 hours of driving throughout the week, as contracted. I was already going into the week with ~10 hours lessons under my belt. By the end of the course I had completed a couple of test routes but had failed 2/3 of them. In all honesty, I wasn't really ready to pass my test after 5 days. I think most will need more lessons, which means more money. I did not get my test booked in until a YEAR after my course... (I was told before booking it would be a matter of weeks and 5days had links with the DVLA to speed up the process). I was assured by 5days that they were doing everything they could to expediate my test date. Although I only received one email as an update over the entire 12 months, shocking given the price point. Communication from them was generally poor. They said the delay was due to the COVID backlog the DVLA are facing... but 12 months... really?! Be aware, there is nothing in the 5days contract that covers you for this delay besides the 1 hour lesson before your test. Unsurprisingly I needed to fork out additional money on top of the £1400 I'd already spent to pay for lessons in order to improve my driving and relearn the things I'd forgotten over the 12 months... I ended up spending well over £2000. I passed first time in Feb 2024 a full 13 months after my course. Upon reflection, there is little benefit to a 5days course. You will end up spending more and it will take just as long to get passed anyway given the backlog. Better off just doing lessons normally and booking your test in advance. Again my instructor Nadim, was fantastic... wish him and his family well. 3/5 - Good teaching but poor transparency and communication from 5days on the testing climate.

Negative experience: One year one and time for update. Absolutely amazing news my partner has passed her test second time. With absolutely zero In put from 5 day after she failed first time round and was told she would not get any refresher lessons. So that is another scam to what's advertised. 5day great at taking your money and not so great at actually following through with what's promised. Terrible service, terrible after care, terrible customer service. I feel sorry for the people that have saved up and not seen or followed the reviews. Avoid. If I was able to give a zero I would. Absolutely 100% avoid. In the end I booked my own test after waiting 6 months from the end of the training 5 days. They swapped driver instructors around so didn't take test in same car learnt in. Driving instructor rude and very un friendly. After failing now been told no refresher lessons as advertised. So complete waste of money would have been better putting the money in my log burner to keep warm over winter. Be warned it's a total scam.

Negative experience: Absolute shambles!!! Had to pester them to get my theory booked… then done finally when came through. After this it took a month before they could look into booking practical lessons as admin had to do called put my theory test stuff through. After 4-5 attempts of booking practical lessons for a week I’ve been cancelled on 1st time the rest I’ve been booking on and then just not even told a instructor isn’t turning up which has made me book 4-5 weeks off work for no reason so that is a absolute joke. Do not use this company at all if possible I wish I could give 0 stars will be claiming my money back asap these people are an utter joke. Not once do they let you know how it’s going or of cancellation. Requested a callback 2 hours ago and was told I’d get a call in a hour… 2 hours later still waiting for this call…. Shambles of a company!!!!!!!

Negative experience: NO STAR DESERVED, I enrolled in the driving crash course in August with the understanding that I would be taking my test at the end of September. Unfortunately, it is now November, and the test has not taken place, which is contrary to the information provided during the sign-up process. This delay has caused considerable inconvenience and has disrupted my plans. I was counting on completing the course within the initially promised timeframe. Additionally, my attempts to seek clarification and updates through customer service have been less than satisfactory. As a foreign National , I have consistently encountered rudeness during phone conversations, which has been both surprising and disappointing. I urge the necessary steps to be taken to expedite the scheduling of my test, and I hope for an improvement in the customer service experience for all participants. Clear communication and respectful interactions are vital for ensuring a positive experience for everyone involved.

Fantastic experience: The course was good. However I did have to find my own test date due to the backlog. But, I will say that Nadim was the best instructor I’ve ever had! He taught me really well and I passed my test. He’s really calm, patient and overall a great instructor in my opinion.

Negative experience: A Complete waste of money in my opinion. I will start by saying that my instructor Nadim was excellent and can't fault him, i just think the whole structure is borderline scam the way it is. I took the course in March 2023 and was told at that time that they can no longer offer a test immediately like they used to be able to and it could take a couple of month due to the pandemic. fast forward to AUGUST and still nothing. After paying so much money to then have to pay for a driving instructor just to have a chance of passing is unreasonable. not to mention if you can find an instructor. After 5 months i am no longer test ready and ended up having to withdraw from the waiting list (Still hadn't recieved a test date) 5days solution was a free 1 hour refresher. As if that would solve the problem. I get there is a back up due to the pandemic but it shouldn't be as expensive as it is due to that. So now I am back at square one, 1300 down and nothing to show for it except a theory test pass. Hurray. Until the backlog ends, STAY CLEAR

Positive experience: The week intensive I did at 5Day was interesting. They give you the theory classes in the morning, which are helpful but start to get a little repetitive. The driving is in the afternoon, you get 20 hours of driving during the week but as of right now it has been 7 months since I completed the week course. Passed my theory on Friday, and I am STILL waiting for my driving test. I understand covid has knocked the wait back a bit, but the wait was 6 months when I completed the week. It literally would have been quicker for me to book it myself when I finished. When you finish your week, CALL 5DAY STRAIGHT AWAY. I was told to wait and then call, but upon calling, they said no call when you finish. Because of this, I wasted 20 working days thinking that they were already sorting it for me like the adverts say they do. Nope. You have to tell them. If I had the choice of going with them now or choosing someone else or doing it myself. I definitely would not choose 5day to do an "intensive" course. Get the lessons in your own time - it will cost the same and book a test early on so at least then you know you have one. The uncertainty that this course has left me with is horrible. To reply to the snarky reply that this review has received: "complimentary tuition and assessments have been provided to this pupil" I have no idea what this means. I got given an assessment due to my previous instructor leaving 5Day, not because of any other reason. I have not received any "tuition", I'm not sure what is meant by this. This review is an honest review of what I think of the course as a whole and not a response to the assessment I had recently. I expected to be rusty after not being given a test date for 7 months, that's not the problem. Also, you should not, under any circumstances, reveal any personal information about my tests or progress unless I have stated so myself. Fantastic experience: Week commencing 17th April 2023 I attended the 5day course. I already had knowledge regarding the theory having *barely* passed 2 years prior but Mohammed managed to bring me up to a level where I passed with flying colours. Their methods of teaching the highway code and common sense is unmatched. I felt ready to pass my theory effectively within 2-3 days. And which I did with 47/50 and 64/75 respectively. Onto Rashid my practical instructor. Where do I begin? His friendly nature. He's calm and professional attitude kept me at ease. And allowed my skills to build at a very fast pace. He was firm but fair in regards to my proficiency on the road. I had barely driven a car before I met Rashid and now I feel like I've got months of experience in just 5 days! I have booked in for a test privately which ive managed to source for a quicker time (2 weeks) so I have no info on 5days abilities to fast track but all in all I can honestly say £1300 well spent and I thank all the 5day team for their can do attitude. Very very impressed

Negative experience: Can I give zero stars? instructors vehicles break down and you provide a young girl with no information or contact and you then only offer £423.00 pound refund. They travelled to do their theory course where they are meant to have a lesson on the same day and the instructor didnt show or inform them. No customer service at all, lack of communication. The instructor after you informed them then continued to try get said young girl to travel to them all abit seedy if you ask me.

Negative experience: Very poor service after cancelling my sons driving lessons 3 times the company offered me a refund which I decided to except and 4 months I am still waiting for a refund and still waiting for a manager to contact me. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Negative experience: Did some phone inquiries before make my decision to book their course. They “guaranteed” a practical test 75% faster than the DVSA. But when I asked how they can guarantee this or what will happen if they fail their “guarantee”, the answer I was given was “that never happened before, I am sorry if that will happen to you but then you need to keep waiting”. In that case, they should not “guarantee” as that’s something they cannot do. The whole phone inquiry I felt like I was spoken down to and my questions were inconvenient for them to answer.

Fantastic experience: If you know how to start a car and how it works, They will teach you the rest. Don’t expect to go there and to get handed a license cause your have to be hard working and dedicated. Basset ma driving instructor from 5Day Birmingham center was the best and most helpful guy ever. he knows how to proper teach you the ins and outs of driving and road safety, and would teach you everything you need to know for you to drive and to pass your test and get a driving license. He is the most helpful and upfront instructor I’ve met so far. Couldn’t say one bad thing about him, apart from that he is top man and am absolute legend. He’s so dedicated to his job and to making you ready for your test and to be road worthy. 10/10 would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: 3 months later….. PASS! Another massive shoutout to Baset. I’ve come back to Birmingham from Bristol for my test and got booked in right away for some refresher lessons so I was ready. And it paid off. Great guy, wish him the best & thank him a lot!

Fantastic experience: I've had a great week here and everyone has been so helpful from start to finish. Couldn't of passed my theory today without the help of Mo and I'd never be where I thought I would with my driving without my instructor. All in all great experience that has helped me further myself in such a short space of time.

Negative experience: Initially thought the course was okay, however now I am having to relearn methods from the beginning with a new instructor as apparently what I learnt was incorrect. Driving is much better with my new instructor, and 5DAY has just acted as an expensive setback. Would not recommend. EDIT: This response is inadequate to my experience. I started with very minimal knowledge of driving, so of course I rated highly. I am also usually very polite. Yes I achieved 4's and 5's HOWEVER more than half of the technique has had to be corrected by new driving instructors. I am posting this review now after several conversations with different instructors about the experience (more than 3 instructors).

Negative experience: Please don’t waste your money. Poor instructors. After paying them you literally have to go for more lessons and pay again. Just find a good instructor and save yourself money.

Negative experience: Wouldn't recommend very unprofessional was heart broken when my sister was crying all night. She had worked so hard to raise money for her driving. After using it all on 5day she literally had to start again and they blamed her for not getting to driving standard. When they gave her an unexperienced instructor, only 20 hours of driving, apparently they said that's their standard of teaching.

Negative experience: Day light robbery full scam operation. How they are allowed to do this I will never know. I am £1k down and no where near driving standard. Please save your money to do not book. Firstly you only get 20 hours of practical driving for the 5 days. It does not matter what standard you are at. Yet they list on their website beginner friendly. The amount driving hours you get per week are not listed in the terms and conditions you are told to agree. Secondly I had a trainee instructor. I could not adjust the side mirrors apparently because they are universal. He urged me to operate gas and break with only toe which I found dangerous. There is no incentive for them to get you to driving test standard because you have paid them already and it shows. Logged a complaint with the team and they only blamed me for eveything. There was no phone call or anything to understand fully my point of view. All I got was an email saying get more private lessons and all our tutors have their own different styles. I wish someone had warned me before.

Negative experience: The whole course is essentially a scam for more money. I was offered "private lessons" after the course for a charge of £25.00 a lesson. I declined and went with my own instructor who put me in for my test straight away. They also only allow you one go at theory as they say it is "easier for you to book your own theory test as you know when you are free" but obviously you have to cover the fees. The theory revision they give you is a £6 app on an ipad where they tell you to "sort yourself out" for 2 hours which essentially means you pay £50 an hour per driving as they don't provide any other service. You also have to pay for your practical test on top of the initial £1000. My instructor also asked me about my feedback sheets and so I felt pressured into giving a higher score than I felt necessary.

Negative experience: They helped me pass my theory which I appreciate but they simply gave us ipads with an app. The practical lessons were awful, there was too much interference from the instructors and the correction lessons were terrible. In the correction lessons all they did was tell you your mistakes and said keep taking lessons. I finally did pass by I had to use an entirely different company. I would not recommend their intensive course

Mohammed was also super informative and managed to help me pass my theory test first time round. I would 100% recommend this course to anyone who is looking to start driving quickly.

Fantastic experience: My Instructor Nadim, was excellent. Patient and encouraging rather than overly critical of my mistakes. I would recommend having some lessons before doing this course, to learn how to control a car a bit first, so that you can make the most of your time on the course practicing manoeuvres and getting assessment ready. The days are very intense with 4 hours driving per day. But i think it's a better way to learn rather than the usual one hour per week, as you get the hang of things far quicker. In summary, its intense, but worth it if you can handle the high pressure environment for practical learning and theory learning.

A nice balance between theory and practical allowed me to pass my theory first time with a high sore and get my test booked in for a few days later with the confidence that I will pass. Fantastic experience: i spent 10 years putting off learning to drive and making excuses. Within a week of the DAY course i passed with 3 minors- i'd thoroughly recommend

Negative experience: This 5day lesson is not good for those who have already passed their theory test. I booked with 5day via online with a payment of £999 in total. When I booked for my driving lesson, I do think it was a free unlimited correction lessons through 5day website, but the manager explained to me there is nothing like free correction lessons apart for those who have took their driving test and failed. my driving instructor and her progressing ticking book said that I am not ready to do my driving test which I agreed. This is a five day driving lesson with 20 hours driving lessons in total, which is four hours per day. This was my biggest mistake I ever made because I have already passed my theory test and I only needed to pass my driving lessons and test but the service I bought wasn’t worth it and my expectations were not what I seen. I wished I have booked with a local driving instructor, If I did, I could still have some change in my pocket and I will be driving now. After I spent £999, no driving yet which is a big sum. I will not recommend this service for people who have already passed their theory test, but if you feel like you can pass with under 20 hours driving lessons, good luck for you.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience from Monday through to Friday. Lots of help given with theory and practical. Wouldn’t have been confident with the theory without the help given here. Driving begin to feels natural at the end of the week. Leaving with theory passed and practical booked for following week. Couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Fantastic experience: Safina was my driving instructor and at the beginning of the week I was a nervous, inexperienced driver, by Friday I am more confident and have booked my test for Thursday. Nadeem does the theory and is very knowledgeable and a great teacher and all of us passed our theory today. I would 100% recommend the Sutton Coldfield branch.

Fantastic experience: Great way to learn to drive as a crash course. The manager Nadim is great and all the instructors are really friendly, especially Safina B. They are passionate about ensuring you get the best quality possible out of your lessons and are very efficient in doing so.

Positive experience: The week has been great overall. My instructor has been ace and helped me at the right speed for me and center staff were very knowledgeable and personable. I do have two recommendations.Firstly, I think it would be better to provide students with a theory pack beforehand, asking them to study before the week begins - this would allow you to restructure the course a little so that students sit the theory test earlier. This would free up time, reduce stress so they can relax more quickly into the driving itself. I also think sandwiches/snacks and drinks at lunch MUST be provided! This would help students concentration, improve their progress and pass rate. Each student is paying a lot of money, and just a sandwich each would cost little but help significantly with improving course satisfaction and students performance.

He got a perfect score on the hazard perception test with his eyes closed! I had 0 hours driving experience before and I am now ready to book my test in just 5 days. My instructor, Habib, was very friendly, professional and a great teacher. I would recommend this service to all who want to undertake an intensive driving course.

Positive experience: The theory training is really good and makes it really clear. My driving instructor was really good too. You get just 4 hours of driving a day for 5 days so the rest of your time is spent doing theory. This makes the theory part pretty expensive but I compared different companies and they all cost about the same.

Fantastic experience: This has been a great experience, and putting the weather in to consideration they have been very supportive, my driving instructor is very professional and works with you at the pace he thinks you can handle even though its intense, I would recommend this course to others and I am confident I will pass my practical.

Positive experience: I've found this driving course to be really effective as a refresher course following a two year break from previous lessons. With regard to the theory test, learning with 5Day is definitely the most effective way to learn, fully understand and pass the test. All staff are very friendly, patient and give clear instruction. I have had an overall positive experience.

Fantastic experience: The absolute fastest way to get your licence I would strongly recommend this to anyone over 1 or 2 lessons a week, the staff are amazing as well as being constant over the course of the week there, my only downside was the lack of formal instruction on arrival. You just walk in and sit down
