Fantastic experience: A parent's perspective: My son was still away at University when I started researching local driving instructors for when he finished and moved back home. Gavin's website caught my eye and was extremely comprehensive and informative. I wanted to know who the driving instructor was, his experience and his track record, not just someone who belonged to a franchise, having heard some local horror stories. His reviews were excellent. When I contacted him he replied promptly and explained thoroughly how his diary works. During the course of the lessons, Gavin was reliable and always turned up on time. My son was able to have a regular weekly slot at the same time. When he returned from each lesson I could see his confidence increasing week on week and felt that Gavin genuinely cared about his progress and constantly gave gentle constructive criticism and then helped him improve in those areas rather than just pointing them out at the time. The supporting online material Gavin supplied was also invaluable. I cannot recommend Gavin highly enough from a parent's perspective when you just want the best for your child. Whilst I am pleased my son passed first time with just one minor, I will miss our weekly chats about how the driving lesson went and what Gavin had helped him to achieve that week.

Fantastic experience: Gavin is an excellent instructor, I can't recommend him enough. I was terrified of driving when I first started learning but Gavin was patient and helped me deal with my anxieties. As a result I have become a much more confident driver, passing my test first time with him as my instructor. He really goes the extra mile to help you, even learning test routes for centers outside the local area (such as Portsmouth where I did my test). Gavin keeps the lessons fun and lighthearted, and wont even complain if you puncture his tires!

Fantastic experience: Absolute Legend of an instructor. Took me on with a month to pass my practical and went out of his way to put me into the highest standard of driving. When I came to him I was unexperienced with a lot of bad habits that were created with previous instructor and he quickly turned them around, I learnt a lot from him and he has a way of being able to explain things to grasp an understanding as well as showing an example to assist. So much material to access when not sitting in the car with him to further assist in my learning to pass my practical. Straight up person who is more than an instructor, I would class him as a friend with a great sense of humour!

Fantastic experience: Recently moved from India to UK. Eventhough i was driving in bangalore, India for about 15 yrs and i failed 3 times. Fantastic experience: Fantastic Instructor, Passed 1st time. Before I learnt with Gavin I was a nervous learner who had only learnt the basics with a previous instructor, then taking on lessons with him I became a more confident learner (I used to be hesitant on the gas and drive too slow, shift gears nervously and be scared of roundabouts). Fantastic experience: When I was looking for a driving instructor, most of the driving instructors/schools recommended Gavin. That’s when I know he is the instructor that I need. And indeed — GAVIN IS THE BEST. He is simply amazing in what he does. When we just started doing lessons together, I was always nervous and scared, I was just pushing myself to just pass the exam and get it over and done with. After 2/3 lessons with Gavin, I found myself enjoying driving, I’ve been more eager to learn and tries to find time to practice outside our lessons. He is very easy to talk to, very friendly, and very approachable. He is very patient and very fun, he does makes you laugh with your mistakes but he also makes sure that you actually learn from it. He is very accommodating especially with my crazy work schedule, he really tries his best to accommodate my requests. He is always punctual and always had a plan for our lessons, sometimes he will even extend the lesson time just to complete all the tasks for that day and at the end of each lesson, he always made sure to give a feedback on what should be improved and most especially highlight the things that went right which has massively improved my confidence. He provided me reading materials to help me understand the concepts of driving better and was always very supportive, he tried to calm my nerves on the day of my driving exam, I felt like taking the exam with my father which I am very very grateful. Fantastic experience: So glad I found Gavin to teach my son. He passed first time but it was everything leading up to that which made such a difference versus any other instructor we’ve used for my other children. We booked 3-4 months in advance and agreed roughly how many hours he would need. Gavin asked me to contact him 6 weeks before and true to his word, he then booked in all the hours needed before the test. In addition he provided extra lessons just before the test, doing this at 7am and 5pm. Basically eating into his own time. Finally and probably most important, my son said he was an excellent teacher and ensured they had a good relationship right from the start. A really good bloke. Can’t thank you enough

Fantastic experience: I post this review as the parent of my daughter, who has passed her test today! Gavin was recommended to us after a failed test with a different instructor. Gavin is friendly, clear and patient, and has been ideal for my daughter. Gavin is an excellent instructor, and I would not hesitate to recommend to any learner driver, or indeed any parent of a learner driver looking for an excellent instructor.

Fantastic experience: Honestly the most relaxed but knowledgeable instructor you could ask for. I've had one before who taught me nowhere near as much, and never commented when you did a good job, only the bad stuff. I became really anxious about lessons and the test, which Gavin has done so much to help me work on since. He explains things clearly, in as much detail as you want, and has no problem repeating himself if it's not sunk in. I struggle with ADHD and always found driving very difficult as its such long periods of concentration, but he never once made me feel stupid or got annoyed when I messed up. Even just the commitment that he will volunteer to sit in the back while you do your test! That's pretty boring for instructors so a lot of them won't do it. I passed after my first test with him. Best teach ever.

Fantastic experience: I went from failing my test with 3 majors and 18 minors, struggling with roundabouts and slip roads and thinking I'd never pass to passing with only a few minors after 6 hours with Gavin. I've had 5 instructors and none were like Gavin. He has a huge binder with diagrams of just about every thing you need to know about driving, your car and all different types of roads. He also finds your learning style and teaches to that. I commuted from central London to learn from him and have recommended for my friends to do the same.

Fantastic experience: A very talented driving instructor, who keeps up to date with the highway code and test routes. He knows how to drive and is very understanding about fears of driving. He is hilarious once you get to know him and makes driving easier. He is very sociable with hours and will try to put you first nearer to your test. He can be a bit hard at times but he means it as he doesn’t want you to get hurt. I would highly recommend and will recommend to my friends and family who plan to learn.

Fantastic experience: Gavin is a great instructor! My partner Heidi had already tried a couple of other driving instructors, giving her driving lessons in our own car, an automatic. But these instructors were not really able to fully prepare her for the test. Gavin was very different. He was able to really clearly explain not only what to do but why, and to illustrate each learning point, which made the whole process of understanding how to drive safely and with confidence much easier than it had been with the other instructors. He clearly is a very experienced instructor who has a wealth of knowledge, and he has an extensive repertoire of hints, tips and practical solutions to driving problems. Fantastic experience: Having had 3 prior instructors at varying points in the past, I can say that Gav was the most professional and talented I had come across. I discovered Gavin from Google and quickly found his YouTube demonstrating his material. It was great Gav was willing to comm via email and queue an evening slot for me! Gav was quick to put me at ease, calm in the face of learner fear, and provided excellent advice throughout my time with him. And importantly, knew when to push harder as levels of competence were nearing. In particular, venturing to towns with more challenging road layouts specifically to hard-run experience with them. Instructor cars are modern, in great condition, and perfect for learners, being that they are neither ridiculously sized, nor overly detach the driver from the driving experience. In the end, passed at the first attempt with only a single minor - a credit to the instructor.

Fantastic experience: Gavin is absolutely amazing! I come to him after failing my 1st test. He taught me the correct way to do things and easier ways of doing them! He’s so patient and explains in the correct way when you have made a mistake. Passed my 1st test with Gavin today with 2 minors and 6 lessons! Fantastic experience: I would like to say a big thanks to Gavin. He did the magic on me that I can have my first driving test passed. Gavin is really the best driving instructor. As a nervous driver who was discouraged by previous instructor and always have panic attack (includes palpitation and insomnia) before lesson, I thought I can never get my driving license. However, Gavin changed it. Besides commenting Gavin is always patient, encouraging, nice and on time as previous reviewers mentioned, I would also like to add a few points why I think Gavin is the best instructor. Firstly, he manages things neat and tidy. He prepared many notes and videos about driving. He put a lot of pictures on scenario in his notes. I can read them and get a very concrete picture on how to handle traffic, e.g. round about etc. This is more efficient and effective way. Secondly, Gavin is really put himself into your shoes. He will treat you independently. After each lesson, he can spot the reasons behind your 'misbehavior' and would suggest ways to do it better. For example for my case, I always hesitate to accelerate, even on a straight road , drove very slow. Instead of blaming or yelling at me, Gavin spotted I always been took over my imagination about accidents may happen and we overcame this by checking blind spots and mirrors effectively and efficiently. And it works! Last but not least, Gavin always have confidence on his student. This is very important. We will need to drive by ourselves alone after having licence. Instead of keep reminding you when you can enter the round about or stopping in front of the red light, Gavin will let you to grab the chance by yourself. So, you can have opportunities to 'feel' it and gain confidence. When he thinks you can do better next time, he will tell you at appropriate time. Sorry for the long comment, but it's really difficult to use fewer words to describe how great Gavin is and how much I appreciate him. Thank you very much, Gavin. I gain my freedom and did some crazy shopping without worrying the bus schedule. I will definitely recommend Gavin to all of you, of course I have already recommended him to my family and my friends. Fantastic experience: Passed with 0 faults on my first try with Gavin! Having failed once previously with another instructor before the pandemic, I was very nervous with my driving and had forgotten everything, but that changed quickly. Gavin is easily one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. More than just teaching you how to pass the test, he teaches you how to drive safely, and efficiently. With his several analogies and mnemonics, he really does make driving simple. I tend to have a lot of small questions when I'm learning something. Gavin listens to each of my queries and every single time he answers whatever concerns I have. In addition to that, he has created excellent resources that explain not only the 'how' but also the 'why', so whenever you are in a tricky situation while driving, you can figure out the best way to deal with it yourself. He is also incredibly accommodating. I had found a test for the very next day in a different city: Basingstoke rather than Farnborough. Gavin managed to find 4h of time for me that day to practice in Basingstoke, in addition to the 2h for the test day, and all thanks to that I managed to pass my test. Gavin truly does the best for his students, it shows in every single lesson and in every single resource he has created. From his enjoyable and in-depth guides and videos to his enthusiastic driving lessons, I have had a great experience learning from him and I looked forward to our lessons every week. Fantastic experience: Due to lockdown and time visiting family abroad, my stepson had never had a driving lesson so had only spent time on the road with myself. However, he already had a test booked in. As the test date grew nearer, I reached out to Gavin to see if he could squeeze in a single lesson to give an insight into the contents of the exam and he got back to me quickly even though he had a full on schedule and offered a 2 hour morning session the day before the test. Fantastic experience: Hi Gavin I just want to thank you so much!!! I started an intensive driving course in September, was going well and I took my test in Guildford but failed due to someone cutting me up. I then took another test in December after waiting months and months for my licence to come back with my name change due to getting married in August. Failed that one. I live in Ash Vale so decided I would take my next test in Farnborough. I searched up previous test routes and that is when I found your website. Fantastic experience: I have been driving for many years and I always believed that I am a careful and responsible driver. But when my family moved to England and I tried to get my drivers license, I was unsuccessful in the practical exam thrice. I had lost all hopes and felt very embarrassing. That is when Gavin helped me get my confidence back. Gavin is Excellent! He observes and knows exactly where one is going wrong and helps correct it. He just changed my entire perspective of driving. I find it to be a much simpler task now because of the way Gavin explained and simplified it. I used to be scared of driving in the dark and in new routes but I don't feel like that anymore. And I GOT MY LICENSE! Gavin is professional but also friendly and accommodated practice times around my work schedule. He has build great resources (videos and notes) to refer which are very helpful. Fantastic experience: Wow what can I say, Gavin has been a brilliant with our daughter. After failing a test with her previous instructor Gavin gave Heather the confidence she needed. He was always positive and knew exactly how to get the best out of her. Gavin was always on time and never rushed a lesson and very approachable. Gavin may be slightly more expensive than other instructors but he really is worth every penny. The online content he has on YouTube really helped and explained so much. Fantastic experience: Gavin is an amazing instructor, and really helps you learn properly and correctly how to drive. Gavin is the reason why i was able to pass my driving test, and why i was confident that i would do so, as he had prepared me perfectly for anything that may have happened on my test, and if there was anything i was unsure of he was always willing to demonstrate and show me what i had to do. Fantastic experience: An excellent driving instructor- Gavin is really great at what he does. 100% money well spent! I highly recommend Gavin as a driving instructor. My son took driving lessons with a previous driving school. His driving lessons were interrupted by the first lockdown. When lockdown eased, his initial instructor was all booked up so I had to teach my son as best I could. We struggled to find someone to teach my son the finishing touches he needed for the drivers test because other driving schools had a rigid syllabus and were not able to accommodate. In desperation, we turned to YouTube, and found Gavin's videos. They were extremely engaging and helpful. Gavin's testimonial videos from previous students showed that his teaching style flexes according to his students. I could see that he has a positive approach to correcting his students, which is so important for confidence and motivation. I contacted Gavin and fortunately he was able to provide my son lessons to prep him for his test. Fantastic experience: Learning to drive recently has been hard because of covid. I began learning with my dad as finding an instructor was hard. my driving was average before i met Gavin, however, i had a massive confidence drop after another driving instructor said i wasn't good enough and should cancel my test as i wouldn't have been ready for it. Ignoring that instructors guidance, i came to Gavin about a month ago asking for his help. Fantastic experience: Having previously failed 2 tests due to serious faults after being taught by another instructor I decided to search for another who would give me the constructive criticism, help and further advice I needed in order to pass. Since I already new the basics having previously had 20 hours of BSM lessons, I only had around 8 hours with Gavin in a 3 week period before my test. However in the relatively short time I felt as if I had learned much more than I had in my lesson with others. Gavin's approach to teaching was very helpful as he helped me to fully understand why I was making the mistakes I was and how to fix them. Fantastic experience: I unfortunately failed my first test back in June and found Gavin through his YouTube videos. He had such good reviews I thought I have to give him a try. I had around 40 hours driving expirence previously, but Gavin had to take me right back to basics to get me to the correct standard. Fantastic experience: I needed an instructor at short notice to take me through manoeuvres and a mock test three days before my practical. Gavin was really accommodating, professional and has a knack for putting you at ease. He's also quite funny. Fantastic experience: Amazing instructor! Learning to drive with Gavin was an absolute pleasure. He was very good at explaining things, extremely helpful and so grateful to have had him as an instructor. My instructor prior to Gavin was of very poor quality. It is very clear that Gavin is of a different calibre to other instructors and is the reason I was able to pass first time!

Fantastic experience: Amazing instructor. I joined with a test already booked, and a little practice driving. Other instructors refused to take me on with a booked test, and others wanted to start teaching from step one. Gavin House lead personalised, effective lessons taking me on test routes and focusing on specific areas that I was lacking in, all while keeping our time together fun and professional. His YouTube channel contains a number of test route videos that I was able to use when practicing between lessons which helped significantly even before I had started lessons with him. Fantastic experience: I found Gavin so randomly on YouTube watching his videos. And I was amazed how easily I could understand his explanations.And I thought I really need a lesson with him before my driving test.. and boom he had a cancellation and gave me a lesson. He really made me believe in myself and that the driving test it’s just normal driving and not nuclear science. I was terrified of the roundabouts but now I truly understand how functional they are. I wish he was my instructor from the beginning, but better late than never. Today I passed with three faults and the route I took, I had already seen it on Gavin’s virtual tour on YouTube , how great is that? No surprises for me! Of course I would recommend him to everyone! Fantastic experience: I started initially with another driving instructor and I have to say I almost had no hope of ever getting the hang of driving. But as soon as I started with Gavin, I knew I'd get it. While I'm a pretty slow learner in putting things into practice, everything finally made sense and driving didn't feel like a rubix cube puzzle anymore. Fantastic experience: I had to book for my practical test to be taken in Farnborough instead of Guildford where i live, because there were no slots available until March 2021, but i wanted to get it out of the way this year 2020. Mind you I didn't know Farnborough or what the test routes look like, so someone recommended Gavin's YouTube channel. That is how I learnt the Farnborough routes and roundabouts and the essential information for my test. I passed today on my first attempt, with just a minor fault; and it's largely thanks to Gavin's Youtube videos. Very accurate information and excellent instructions. I really don't think I would have passed on my first attempt, had it not been for his help! ... and it wasn't even in person! I highly recommend his services. Thank you, Gavin.

Fantastic experience: Gavin taught my eldest to drive - not just to pass the test, and I am absolutely confident in her driving. She had lessons on motorways, in the dark and in all conditions, and he explained things to her (and me) really well. Fantastic experience: I couldn't recommend Gavin enough! He put so much time and effort into making sure I understood exactly what I was doing, and why I was doing it, so that I completely understood the car and the roads. This gave me so much confidence, and meant that I felt fully ready when I passed my test. Fantastic experience: Learning to drive with Gavin was probably the best decision I’ve ever made. Feeling cautious and apprehensive about being on the roads for the first time, Gavin made me feel relaxed and explained things in such a way that I found easy to remember. Always accommodating and friendly, he would work around you and your needs to give you the best possible chance of learning and absorbing information, whether it was theory knowledge, mock driving tests or online videos for extra help. Fantastic experience: Gavin is a professional driving instructor and thoroughly nice guy. He creates a safe and fun environment in which to learn, but more than that he really knows what he is doing and where you need to get to... The lengths he has gone to in creating his reading materials (actually useful!) and keeping up to date with test routes and other useful things to have fed into the learning process is a different league to your more typical part-time instructor. Strongly recommend.
