I had a bad experience with an instructor at another driving school, but Steve’s way of instructing makes you think and really understand your mistakes, so the lessons stick. He’s incredibly patient, explains everything clearly, and helped me fix bad habits I’d picked up before. On top of that, he's got a great sense of humour and always made me feel comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for him—he really went out of his way to help. Thanks to Steve, I passed with just 2 minors! If you’re looking for a driving instructor, Steve Pearce’s your guy. I couldn’t recommend him enough—thanks so much!

Negative experience: Would give zero stars if I could. Neil seemed disinterested, bored and is quite frankly a rubbish teacher. Spent 72 quid driving up and down a deserted Goring road for 2 hours with someone who offered no constructive critism or help. Don't waste your money and get someone engaging and helpful. Absolute toot. Spent most of the lesson staring into the abyss and offering no help what so ever. AVOID.

Fantastic experience: I don't think I could have asked for a better instructor than Alan, from the first phone call I got from him, I knew the lessons where going to be fun as well as educational. Every lesson felt like a goal to be achieved, and Alan certainly let's you know when you've aced it to his standards. When I failed my first test and I was upset, he came up with the battle plan to get me past my failings, and thanks to that I passed a month later and with only 2 minors. I hope il see him on the roads in the future, teaching new people as well as he taught me. - The Adam

Fantastic experience: Thanks to Paul Groves for making sure I passed my test - he was very patient with me and worked through my fears of being on the road and driving fast. It was important to me not to just pass my test but become confident on the road as I will be driving my kids, and he made sure we worked at the comfortable pace and not rushed with the test. Fantastic experience: Having recently passed my test (first attempt!), I’d highly recommend this driving school. From the very first lesson, my instructor, Steve, was fantastic. He was patient, knowledgeable, and supportive throughout the process and his expert guidance made me feel constantly at ease behind the wheel, which boosted my confidence. Steve made sure that lessons were built around learning and experience for driving in the “real world” and this approach meant that I was well prepared for both the test itself and the roads beyond. My whole experience of learning to drive was incredibly smooth and enjoyable and I’m really grateful for that.

I was so nervous to get behind the wheel at first but Kevin Grooves gave me a headstart to get me to feel comfortable and Mike Morley got me to the finish line. Fantastic experience: Where do I start I was always nervous about driving but I went ahead and started with 1st castle doing automatic, I was assigned Mike Morley as my instructor and all I can say is he was fantastic the overall experience the way he teaches and makes you feel so calm was perfect for me. I had 1 a week lessons, mike was always punctual and the communication was non stop with helpful advice,tips and videos to guide you in your journey. I passed 1st time with 1 fault which I would of never of dreamed off 6 months ago!. 100% go with this driving school!. Thank you Mike .

Negative experience: I was really disappointed with '1st Castle School of Motoring'. I enquired about booking a few driving lessons in Chichester, as I have my exams scheduled in February and live in another town. My aim was to familiarise myself with the area. I was fully flexible regarding the time and date, and I asked if it would be possible to be picked up 10 minutes away from the exam centre in Chichester, a location within the area advertised on the company’s website. However, I was bluntly refused based on an assumption of potential lateness due to not residing in the immediate area, compounded by the dismissive tone of the emails. This reasoning and approach felt unfair and impolite. While I respect a business's right to manage their clientele as they see fit, my review reflects my experience with the service, which was, regrettably, handled in an unprofessional manner.

Fantastic experience: Mike Morely was my instructor and I really couldn’t have wished for someone better! For an older learner such as myself, I’d been through a couple of instructors and was still struggling. However, from day one Mike was patient, easy to talk to, calm and just helped me learn and understand my mistakes without any frustration. Fantastic experience: Mike is hands down the best driving instructor I've ever had the pleasure of learning from. His patience, preparation and professionalism are unmatched. He made me feel completely at ease behind the wheel, even in challenging situations. Mike's clear and concise instructions helped me become a confident and safe driver. I can't thank him enough for his dedication to teaching and simply, for being an incredible person outside of being an instructor - he always had a trust in me which gave me a huge confidence boost, made me learn form my mistakes without beating myself up about them, made me laugh a million of times (when it was safe so, of course) and had these fantastic ways/ analogies to make you easily remember important things. I have passed with 0 faults after only 25 sessions with Mike, and I am -sorry, I WAS - an anxious 35 year old new driver. Fantastic experience: I got incredibly lucky with MIKE MORLY being my driving instructor, he was an excellent teacher and without his help I wouldn’t have passed first time! He was so patient and calm as a teacher and I never got stressed when he was in the car l can’t thank him enough for all the help in the lessons leading up to the test.

Fantastic experience: Earlier this year, I passed first time with Mike and had nothing but the best experience. Mike was a very dedicated and diligent instructor who thought pragmatically about my driving - always working through my mistakes with me and trying to get to the bottom of why I made them. He did a great job of helping me form a self-reflective and analytical attitude towards my own driving - this stopped me from falling into any lazy or bad driving habits early on and as I continued driving. He was a VERY patient instructor and always did everything he could to figure out a way to get through to me without being pushy, angry or condescending. He happily revisited the same problems with me over multiple weeks or sometimes months and tried different approaches to see which one would make things click for me. An instructor that makes you feel like it's okay to make mistakes without it being the end of the world is really valuable and Mike was really good at that! Every session felt worth it whether that was because I learned an important lesson, improved my confidence, encountered a new situation or finally had a moment of realisation about something I never fully understood before. Mike made every lesson feel like good progress and good time spent as he was very much a front-seat instructor. He wouldn't ever sit back and let me drive in silence and was always there to reinforce my good driving habits and identify my bad ones so I was always becoming a better driver. His knowledge of local roads was also unmatched and this made me feel very safe driving with him as he knew what to expect from every corner as well as the mistakes learners make on each road in the area. Sometimes he would tell me in advance so certain dangers wouldn't startle or panic me and other times he would let me encounter them on my own and use any mistakes as teachable moments after. I couldn't recommend 1st Castle enough, especially if every instructor is as great as Mike!

Fantastic experience: Having had bad experiences with private instructors in the past, I am so pleased that I chose 1st Castle and met Jo, who taught me to drive an automatic car. The support from Jo has been unending from start to finish and she has gone above and beyond to help me pass my test. She has a way of almost getting you to teach yourself by asking you logical questions about how to approach certain situations. Fantastic experience: Jane from castle is an absolute GEM and i recommend her to everyone! I came to her after failing my driving test 4 times, she quickly got rid of my bad habits, and got me to the stage where I was able to pass. She was amazing every step of the way. Amazing instructor!

Fantastic experience: Just passed my test with 1 minor thanks to Michael and his exceptional teaching skill he is very thorough and will glide you through your lessons and test with ease he covers all bases in a way it’s very easy for you to remember also I have to mention my theory was due to run out in a months time so Michael went out his way to find me a test with short notice. I really can not recommend Michael and 1st castle highly enough.

Fantastic experience: I learnt to drive with Mike and passed 1st time last week. Mike was amazing and definitely had to have a lot of patience with me, I was very very nervous and had to have things explained to me several times to overcome these fears which he always did without any trouble. If you’re looking for somebody who can deal with your nerves with endless patience then I highly recommend! I didn’t think I’d ever manage it due to being so nervous but Mike definitely helped me overcome it and I’m very grateful.

Fantastic experience: I started having lessons with Jane at the beginning of December and passed this April. I’m sure everyone says this but Jane was the best instructor I could have asked for and helped me build my confidence and overcome anxieties I had about driving. She thoroughly explained everything before we did anything new and went over it with me until I felt confident. I genuinely really enjoyed having lessons every week and I will miss not having them! If you have any anxiety around driving I would recommend Jane as this is something I really struggled with and I feel she helped me to overcome this.

Fantastic experience: I passed my test yesterday on my first attempt and I am so happy. Kamil was my instructor and he was just the best for me. I’m sure he is one the best instructors out there! He was obviously not about the money and always motivated me. I am surprised that we achieved this just within 2 months. Fantastic experience: I can not show my gratitude enough for the best experience and guidance i was given throughout my time learning to drive. Especially Mike Pennington, the best instructor around, fact, I recommend him to everyone, has a great teaching ability and way in which he corrects and critiques, to train me to become a safe and confident driver.

Fantastic experience: I had lessons with Genna and she was honestly amazing. She is so understanding and any issues I had she helped me correct them calmly and gave me so much confidence. I love Genna’s methods that she does to help understand things and it helps to learn them massively and really helped me to look at them visually too. Thanks to Genna I managed to pass my test last week and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without her!!!

Fantastic experience: Jane was a brilliant instructor and i really enjoyed my experience of learning how to drive. She is very understanding and really helped me to become confident although i was very nervous at first. would 100% recommend booking lessons with her as you will be confident at driving and confident in passing your test.

Fantastic experience: Cannot thank Jane court enough for the amazing experience I had. I passed my test first try and in a very short period of time. Would recommend Jane 100% to anyone who asked. Jane explained things so clearly and just made the whole experience amazing for me. She was really patient, friendly and overall a great instructer. Overall Jane is an amazing instructer who put my nerves to ease when first jumping in the car. Always made sure I was okay. I never felt pressured to do anything she would always remind me I could ask any questions along the way. I cannot recommend Jane enough a massive thanks to her and the driving school!!!

Fantastic experience: I had lessons with Genna White and she was incredible. I was really nervous to learn to drive but Genna was great and made it such an easy process. They way she explained manoeuvres was simple and easy to understand. As well as this I had a lot of nerves going into the test which she gave lots of tips to over come. In general Genna is an amazing instructor who made learning to drive easy and enjoyable. I never felt pressured to do anything and if I needed to stop or ask questions she was always great about it. Can't recommend her as an instructor enough.

Fantastic experience: I was very (and I mean VERY) nervous about learning to drive. I credit my first time pass and current confidence on the road to my instructor Steve M. He was incredibly patient with me and calm (his level of calm is something to aspire to). I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. Definitely worth every penny.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars isn't enough! My instructor was Mike Morley, who was excellent - patient, calm and full of really helpful tips and tricks. I was put at ease from the very first lesson, and overall it was a really smooth learning process. I'd happily recommend Mike/1st Castle to anyone wanting to learn to drive.

Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend 1st castle enough!! I remember when I was struggling to find a driving instructor that accepted new learner back in April/May and 1st castle has helped me finding the best one! Greg Maynard has gone above and beyond to help me with my lessons and he was so great at his job! Being a Vietnamese living in the UK for not very long, I understand driving is not my strength and to learn everything from 0 is even more difficult. Greg has done an excellent job from arranging the time to suit my schedule and taking time to explain everything over and over again! I honestly cannot say how grateful I am to have him as my instructor! I passed my driving test 1st time today with 1 minor and there’s no way in the world I could have done that without him!! Thank you again, 1st castle and Greg!! We need more people like you!!

Fantastic experience: It has to be 5 stars. Steve was absolutely brilliant. I needed an extended refresher lesson because after 35 years of driving had picked up some bad habits and consequently had completed failed a taxi driver test. Having Steve help me not only got me a pass when I retook my test, but because of Steve’s help I passed with a 100% clear run ( 0 driving faults ). How about that. Very happy.

Fantastic experience: I would like to say a massive Thank You to the 1st Castle team, in particular Steve P and Steve M. I passed my instructor training and have become a fully qualified ADI this week because of the training and support I received from them. I hadn't even considered becoming a driving instructor until suggested to by Steve P and throughout the whole journey he has gone well out of his way to ensure that I am becoming the best instructor I can be - including travelling hundreds of miles up the country to give me additional support and training when I had to move up north part the way through my training unexpectedly. I am 100% confident that if you go to 1st Castle for anything - whether it be learner driver lessons, taxi driver lessons, driving instructor training or anything else, you will be getting the best levels of training available in your area! (Or any other area for that matter in my case!) Thank you, I know without you I wouldn't have scored the Grade A on my instructor test!

Fantastic experience: Mike is an amazing driving instructor. For someone who finds it hard learning he was so good at adapting to the way I found easiest to learn and nothing was ever too much trouble. He made learning to drive so easy I would definitely recommend
