Fantastic experience: Did my upgrade from A2 to A license with Derbyshire Motorbike School, whole experience was brilliant. Complete trust in me from start to finish, allowing me to jump straight onto the MT-07, Steve made learning again fun and easy and ironed out my bad habits in one lesson for each test type. Passed both tests first attempt with no minors at all. Can’t recommend this school highly enough for both new and experienced riders.

Fantastic experience: If I could give 6 stars I would! As a woman it can be quite daunting to start your journey into motorbiking, however I couldn’t recommend this school enough. Mark, Steve and the team have been nothing but supportive and welcoming, taking me from zero motorbike experience to a full license. Doing the taster session was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and was a great and stress-free introduction into the world of motorbiking. After this, completing my CBT and seeing the great packages they have to offer convinced me to start my DAS training and attain my full license. During the DAS training was where the great support system shined through, I can become quite nervous when in a test environment but the team went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and ready for each test. I would like to re-iterate a big thank you to Mark, Steve and the team. Ladies, get out there and get your licenses!

Fantastic experience: Mark, Steve, Hannah and the team are a credit to motorcycle training, First class training and support throughout the entire process, Great quality bikes and kit, Sometimes things don't always go to plan but they go above and beyond to find a solution, If you want to get into the world of motorcycles then DMS is definitely a fantastic place to reach out to and they will take you through every step from start to finish with a calm relaxed down to earth professional training environment, Can't thank DMS enough :)

Positive experience: Very good all round but was a little disappointed that they avoided mentioning some costs involved. I did an a2 mod 2 with them and when asked all prices i was quoted £40 an hour of teaching plus 80 for the test. Then the day before my test they told me i needed to pay £140 (35 per hour) as the test would take 4 hours roughly. When i asked, they said this was standard, I know it is not as i had done my mod 1 in shrewsbury before moving house where they did not do this (although it may be common in derbyshire). Furthermore they pegged £35 an hour as a good deal as it's less than usual, which it would be if tests werent done 2 at a time. so they are actually making £70 an hour on test days (where they aren't actually teaching just delivering you to the test). Overall it is a good school and there doesnt seem to be a way around this other than not living in derbyshire. Therefore i overall recommend this school as they uphold a very high standard of teaching

Fantastic experience: Couldn’t recommend DMS enough! Both me and my partner have used DMS’ service to pass our A2 licenses. The bikes are in great condition and are very easy bikes to get used to, very approachable for everyone. Steve, our instructor, was fantastic at explaining everything in a clear manner. Steve always understood mistakes, never shouting at anyone but instead explaining what went wrong and why. Me and my boyfriend both passed our MOD 1 and MOD 2 first time with no issues. Fantastic experience: Great experience from CBT through to mod 2 complete. The instructors help guide you through the technical aspects of riding and help correct any issues as well as give you the belief you should be doing 31 mph through cones. I can't recommend the school enough to people wanting to start on their motorbike journey.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant experience from the first lesson to the day I passed! If it wasn't for everyone at DMS I don't think I would have passed, especially not on the first attempt. Since passing my test and getting my first bike, my partner has even started her lessons. Couldn't fault this place at all and couldn't recommend them enough to anyone!

Fantastic experience: Great experience coming to DMS with only really experience riding a bicycle, from CBT to MOD 1&2 great experience throughout. With a shout out to Steve who really helped me progress my riding and keeping the standard high. Along with the terrible dad jokes to entertain, he’s incredibly friendly and helpful which helps when you’re nervous for the Mod 1 which was actually a breeze. During this process I have had some great moments, like scraping a foot peg for the first time on the swerve I thought Steve was going to have a heart attack! To Steve having a puncture on the day of my mod 1, he was determined we got there! I got to ride pillion for the first time since I was a kid. We picked up his other bike, while Hannah did some magic with the test centre and I left with a mod 1 pass after being over an hour late! During this process I have met some great people too definitely going to stay in touch.

Fantastic experience: Amazing from start to finish. Started off with a CBT and worked all the way up to a full bike license. Menage to complete all modules within four weeks!! That’s how good the Training is. It’s 100% spot on. very good at making you understand what it takes to be able to ride safely on The roads and to get you test ready. Fantastic experience: Wish to say a really big thank you to everyone at Derbyshire Motorbike School, who helped us right from the start with myself & work colleagues CBT, and our transition and training to enable us both to successfully and quickly pass our MOD1 & 2 Tests. Fantastic experience: My wife and I completed our CBT last year and I successfully passed my big bike test in the autumn this year. DMS have been great - whilst focussing on getting through the relevant tests successfully, all the instructors prioritize riding safety. Lessons tend to be in the 2-hour format which suited us. Would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Cannot fault the guys and training at Derbyshire motorbike school. From my initial lesson through to CBT, transition lesson and then MOD 1&2 training I was made to feel relaxed and confident. All the staff were friendly and made me feel at ease at every stage. The level of training was excellent and is the reason I’m now on the road on two wheels. Definitely give these guys a shout for your training!!

Had a lesson with Lee on Monday and I'm glad I did it really helped getting used to the bike and I really enjoyed it and the hour flew by, had my cbt today with Mark and from the start it was great, made to feel welcome by everyone there and offered a coffee as soon as I arrived, I really enjoyed the day and didn't want it to finish! I'm back in a few weeks to start mod1 training. Everyone who I've spoken to couldn't of been anymore helpful a great bunch of people and I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to get into motorcycles. EDIT, these guys are awesome, I've now passed my mod1 first time and my mod2 first time this morning thanks to the help of Steve who was really helpful with everything he's a great instructor and really knows his stuff. Fantastic experience: I needed to find a good DAS course as I am away from home most of the year for work and this place was perfect. I had a lot of great instruction which massively improved my riding ability on very well looked new 700cc motorbikes. Fantastic experience: Just recently done cbt and DAS course with Derbyshire motorbike school and can say it’s been a fantastic experience, all of the instructors have been brilliant very knowledgeable and friendly but also honest and tell you where you need to improve or where you going wrong, can’t fault any of them. The bikes are very well looked after and the bikes for the DAS are pretty much brand new so your not riding around on old knackered bikes. Overall it’s been a truly enjoyable experience obtaining my license with them and would recommend them to anybody thinking of doing the full bike test. Thanks again Derbyshire motorbike school.

Fantastic experience: Just passed my das course with DMS. Mark & his team - the 2 Lees, Steve, Sandy, another Mark, Ian & Hannah in the office are absolutely brilliant! Fountains of knowledge, incredible instructors & genuinely nice human beings. Can’t begin to tell you how much fun my time with DMS. Unfortunately I failed my first Mod 1 test (my fault nothing to do with the tuition I had a brain fart!) Mod 2 first time pass with zero faults The day around burton (a place I didn’t know) with Sandy was a big help, take the offer up to do this it’s really worth it. Nothing is too much trouble for these guys (and gals) they absolutely go the extra mile for you. Obviously the instructors can’t ride & take the tests for you but if you listen & put into practice what they teach you’ll pass. Excellent value for money too. I couldn’t attend a lesson due to work problems & had to cancel on the morning of my lesson. I fully expected to pay a cancellation fee, none was charged which I appreciated greatly. I visited other local schools before I chose DMS & I’m very glad I did, very professional set up with a proper unit & and private training ground attached, free parking, brand new Yamaha MT07 bikes that were a dream to ride, all the kit I needed free of charge & just superb easy understand friendly fun tuition. The other schools I visited didn’t seem interested & had old bikes that looked a bit rough, training grounds that were a bit rough & a long way from their premises and they also wanted to charge me for kit hire. Thanks guys for a brilliant experience can’t thank you enough see you soon for my advanced training course.

Fantastic experience: Just passed my MOD2 with Derbyshire Motorbike School, I'm now officially a "Biker" with my full motorcycle license. I'm free to hit the road, well not literally, hit the road, but you know what I mean, and I owe it all to the team at Alfreton, a great bunch of guys and gals. Negative experience: !!**Just to let know other people what to expect from this school**!! Start on CBT=Passed Mod 1=Passed Mod 2=failed twice in Burton upon Trent where I never been in my life.Funny enough only than they offer me full day lesson in Burton so I though its got to be me so bad as a new driver,but than I figure it out.First attempt they gave me a brand new MT-07 with faulty clutch,second attempt just lack of experience on the road as every lesson I was on with DMS were about 2-3 weeks before my test and still they let me drive around Derby only but not in Burton as I would expect....Lets carry on,also because of availability I went to Bike skool in Sutton in ashfield (Mod 2= Passed within 4 days)this including 4 hour lesson in Burton+practical mod 2 test.High recommend to everyone!!!! P.S No hard feelings to DMS so I though I need to let them know that I passed as they kept slot for me which I paid £80.Guess what-never had my refund(cancelled mod 2 about 3 weeks before my test) as far as I know its 3 working days,but hey ho what do I know im just a ''Juicy cow full of milk'' if u know what I mean lol.I hope this wasn't too long and boring to read,good luck on your bike journey.

Fantastic experience: What a brilliant bunch of people. Just completed a DAS intensive course over the past couple of weeks and just passed my MOD 1 & MOD 2 first time today. Fantastic experience: Dms are a great bike school with down to earth instructors. I used Dms in 2015 to do my a2 license and passed first time with Steve as my main instructor. I then took my full a license may 2023 with mark being my main instructor and passed first time again couldn’t of done it without dms and I would highly recommend them to anybody wanting to take there bike test. Fantastic experience: Cracking riding school they took me through CBT, MOD 1 and MOD 2 within a matter of a few months. Excellent team down there full of knowledgeable and friendly instructors. Hannah within the office is lovely and always trying to juggle things about to fit in the training to suit you. However I think top marks need to be had for Mark S the DAS instructor an absolute sound guy that's full of knowledge and fantastic ability to teach.. anyone looking for recommendations for a riding school that's got it all and can take you where ever you wanna go with your riding then I couldn't recommend DMS highly enough. Thanks once again to the fantastic team.

Fantastic experience: As a total novice to bikes, I had Lee for an hours lesson for a bargain 30 quid! Then had my CBT with Mark. Both incredible instructors, so very calm and steady with you and represents exactly what a properly trained instructor is. Definitely coming back for my big bike tests in a year or so. Would reccomend to absolutely anyone who wants to expand their driving/riding skills.

Fantastic experience: Being a female of a certain age, as well as over thinking everything, has without doubt made my journey into learning to ride a difficult one!! And then I found Mark and Derbyshire Motorbike School, what a difference he made! From the very first booking and Hannah being so understanding when I explained my journey so far to meeting Mark on my assessment ride. I knew I'd finally come to the right place for me. I've seen lots of posts on my bike groups of females feeling dismissed and not taken seriously, indeed I had a female instructor from another school when I was researching basically dismiss me because I hadn't been on a pushbike, despite having my cbt and my own 125, she wasn't very pleasant to say the least. Mark and Derbyshire Motorbike School were the total opposite. When I lacked confidence Mark was there to give me a nudge, explained things, demonstrated, even got me on the back to show me how things feel when you think you are tipping in... he instilled confidence and the patience of Saint, with my never ending questions and self doubt. I nearly gave up because I knew it would take a special kind of person to teach me, thought it would never happen and that I wouldn't find an instructor I trusted. Then it did, thanks to Mark I passed my Mods this week, both first time I add happily... big shout out too to the examiners at Burton Test Centre, incredibly calming and supportive. Mark, you change lives and I'm eternally grateful. Said it before and I'll say it again, Certified Genius. Thank you

Fantastic experience: Just had a great day with Derbyshire Motorbike School. I first approached them as I was very nervous about returning to motorcycling after a 16year break. A full day on the back to bike course has left me feeling confident and inspired. I’ve gained massively from doing this, it was very enjoyable and informative and I’ve gone from a wobbly wreck at the start of the day to feeling safe, in control and enjoying motorcycling again by the end of the day. Will be returning soon for some more advanced lessons.

Fantastic experience: From zero to full licence! When I decided I wanted to get my licence, I had no idea of the process or steps to take. I was recommended DMS by a friend so I rang Mark one evening and he ran me through everything, which apps to download for theory tests when to book what, what happens in each lesson - from this first phone call I felt totally at ease. Hannah, the office manager always welcomes you with a smile and is encouraging for each lesson she always manages to work around your diary to make sure booking lessons suit you! The lessons are always taken at your own pace with clear instructions and classroom time to understand what exactly an examiner is looking for. If you’re thinking about starting your motorcycling journey I can highly recommend DMS! Fantastic experience: As an older, slightly anxious female finding the right training school to support me through my motorbike training was key. Derbyshire Motorbike School did not disappoint. My learning journey started with basic lessons, progressing to CBT and then finally on to DAS training. I opted for regular lessons over a longer period of time which worked well for me and my way of learning. My instructors were absolutely phenomenal throughout this process, in no way could I have done it without their patience, skills, knowledge, support or belief in me. Massive thank you to Hannah for fielding all my questions and booking in my lessons, Mark (initial lessons and CBT) Kev (conversion lesson to the big bike) and Mark.S (DAS training, reality checker, nerve settler and patience of a saint). For anyone considering learning or to anyone feeling disheartened or frustrated with their current training, I 100% recommend DMS. Finding the right training school is so important and makes such a difference to your motorbike learning experience.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely exceptional! Followed the PAYG route from CBT through to Mod2. As an older rider the steadier pace of two hour lesson blocks suited me. Kev, my instructor, was patient and encouraging - really knowledgeable, he pushed me just the right amount to keep me progressing and his advice and experience proved invaluable for both mod1 and 2. Passed both first time. Genuinely cannot recommend highly enough. If I could give six stars I would.

I chose Derbyshire motorcycle school after doing a my cbt elsewhere on a grotty old bike, I popped into see mark and the bikes.They were all clean and tidy and mark explained the process for the DAS. Fantastic experience: Did CBT with Derbyshire motorbike school and the whole day was an enjoyable learning experience not just the riding but the knowledge about different highway code rules also. Honestly thought I was going to fail as I'd never been on the road before but a Hugh shout out to Lee my instructor he was always professional and a really funny guy too he instantly makes you feel comfortable and his teaching techniques are what helped me achieve my CBT dream he took the time to fully explain what I was doing wrong and would show me how to correct it on the road I was a little nervous but he explained how to approach certain situations and reassured me and the road part then went relatively well all thanks to the patience and teachings of Lee again a Hugh thankyou. Anyone wanting to do there CBT this is definitely the place to be to achieve your goal I'll be back to retake my CBT in 2 years and thankyou again Lee and Derbyshire motorbike school.

Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of being trained and assessed by Lee Newbold today for my CBT. He’s an exceptional trainer and couldn’t be more pleased with my outcome at the end of the day. He’s professional straight to the point but not in an aggressive way like I’ve hears about some instructors. Lee’s definitely a a great addition to your crew!! Thank you again!!!

Fantastic experience: Previously did my CBT and recently completed my DAS with Derbyshire Motorcycle School. Mod 1 with 2 faults (speed related) and Mod 2 1 rider fault and an eco fault from a overzealous examiner. I was nervous to say the least, but was put at ease and by the end of my training I felt ready to tackle the tests. At the end of the day, they want you to pass and be the best rider you can be. Any criticism is always constructive criticism :) Everyone I had dealings with were great, Hannah in the office, Lee who took my CBT and Kev who did quite a bit of my training. Oh and there’s Mark too, he’s not bad ;)

Fantastic experience: I had my first cbt today. I found it abit difficult at first but lee had persevered with me and kept me positive throughout and supported me. They were lovely people and it was a relaxed environment. Thank you for helping me start my bike journey!

To then top it all I passed. Some great chat with discussion, guidance, and positive reinforcement. I would totally recommend the extra training and using DMS to get it done.

Fantastic experience: I booked a surprise first lesson for my son who had never ridden. The instructor was perfect,I stood amazed at how he explained carefully and also demonstrated each step. Through small stages very quickly he had Jamie riding confidently and safely .Good Team/Nice Place/Nice Bikes 100% positive experience. .

Fantastic experience: Had my CBT today after a couple of lessons, all with Lee. Great guy, very calming and encouraging. Great sense of humour off the road, obviously on the road the jokes had to stop, he never raised his voice and never caused me to panic. Look forward to improving my skills on a geared bike with him, then onto training for my full licence

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank all the instructors at Derbyshire Motorbike School, absolutely 1st class instructors, I hadn't been on a bike for 40+ years, which was a bit daunting, getting on one after all that time. They gave me confidence, time and were very patient and making sure I was comfortable and ok at all times. These guys are so friendly and helpful, true professionals in what they do. A big shout out to Mark, Kev and Lee for getting me through my CBT, and passing my DAS Mod1 & 2, 1st time, with 4 days of training. I actually travelled further afield to come to these guys, and was well worth the extra miles to get to them. All the best in the future

Fantastic experience: Lovely staff! Basic training lessons are made so that you feel comfortable and they aren't made too difficult to a point where you feel too overwhelmed. The Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) lessons are strict for the purpose of your own safety but nothing too harsh and fairly easy to pass as long as you are seen to be safe on the roads. Very good communication throughout the whole lessons and demonstrations where made to help you understand what you need to do/ improve on! Would highly recommend coming here if you are wanting to learn how to drive either an automatic or geared bike! Big thank you to Lee my instructor and Hannah the receptionist for all your help!

Fantastic experience: I am 58yrs of age and to gain my full A Motorbike license was a goal I had from last September. I started my CBT training in November and passed, I then took my Motorbike Theory test in January and passed. I then paid for the Direct Access course ran by the school 31st January to 2nd February which included taking both Mod1 and Mod2 tests on consecutive days. I passed both of them also! I am a complete novice rider, in fact I had never ridden a motorcycle with gears. Mark and all guys at the school were very patient and encouraging all the time.....their skill and dedication in helping riders of all standards to get through their bike tests is inspiring. Motorbike riding has put a huge smile on my face. I would urge anyone, regardless of age and ability, to take up motorbike riding and put big smiles on your faces too! Now to find a motorbike to ride........
