Phoenix South West Ltd: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Completed my CBT was very nervous initially but got there in the end found the instruction style suited me and was informative. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Lovely
Fantastic experience: Excellent training. Passed DAS first time. Dave Hepburn was a great and reassuring teacher. I also had training from Mike who, although not exactly reassuring, was beneficially fastidious.
Negative experience: Phoned up today because I needed to do my test on Friday that I had booked and wanted to rent an instructor and a bike for the test and and hour before. The woman on the phone was very arrogant and sounded like she just wanted to laugh at the idea of what I asked. She said I needed to do a minimum of 3 hours on the bike even though I had told her I have had many hours training. I rang up another local motorbike company in Bristol immediately after and they were brilliant on this. I don’t mind that you guys weren’t prepared to do this for me however I do expect respect and at the very minimum okay customer service.
Fantastic experience: Best place to do your Cbt and thanks to Dave he's really good at what he's doing.
Fantastic experience: CBT training was 1st class. All about safety. Will definitely be going back for mods 1&2
Thanks for your kind words.
Fantastic experience: Excellent training from both Dave and Mike ironed out a few kinks and got me through both my mod1 and mod2 on the same day would highly recommend.
Thank you and safe riding
Fantastic experience: After only getting back on a bike in November last year, I completed both parts of my bike test. Very friendly, professional. Made the whole experience feel very relaxed. Could not recommend enough. Thank you all and I'll be back for my advanced test too.
Thanks for the kind words. Safe riding!
Fantastic experience: Excellent training for my progressive mod 1 and mod 2 tests. Mike and the team are very passionate about biking and do a great job. Having experienced multiple training centres I would absolutely recommend Phoenix.
Thank you for the kind words. Much appreciated. See you on the road soon i hope !
Fantastic experience: Helpful staff, great learning experience, will be back for my full tests/practice
look forward to helping you
Fantastic experience: Great people and services
thank you
Fantastic experience: Huge than huge thanks to Mike and the team for helping me get my Direct Access. Very professional, knowledgeable and friendly.
thank you Andy. Look forward to seeing the new bike!
Fantastic experience: Amazing experience! Mike trained me for Mod 1 and Mod 2 and I passed on first attempt! Very professional and you get to ride brand new kawasaki (the only problem is you're gonna want to get one as soon as you pass). I can definitely recommend! I wish I did my cbt there too!
Thank you and do call in some day
Positive experience: Very friendly staff, good place to learn how to ride a bike
Thanks for the comment. Always appreciated.
Fantastic experience: One of the best experiences iv ever had, should of done my licence years ago, Pheonix are most helpful and got me through my Direct Access, much appreciated and would recommend training with these guys all day long. Thanks for all your assistance in the training. Great Team and Lovely people.
Thank you for the kind comments. Enjoy your bike and do call in and visit some time!
Fantastic experience: Good instructors, large practice area and quiet suburban roads, make the nerve racking CBT experience easier.
Thank you and safe riding
Negative experience: Horrible experience here, was told I could retake my test for free and still 3 weeks later no reply, waste of Bloody money would highly recommend Bristol motorcycle training centre, nicer staff are there and free lunch and drinks
Negative experience: Done my CBT and mod 1 with phoenix and was more than happy with that, different story with the Mod 2! Paul wasn't him self the day of my test, he had cold or flu but still went ahead. On the road ride I was forever being moaned at , I've done this wrong, I've done that wrong. And then I get asked to pull over and then Paul is helmet to helmet with me swearing at me and saying " you know how to ride, so f*****g ride ! " I wasn't speeding or anything dangerous , just maybe lacking on a few lifesavers but again nothing serious for Paul to say stop the bike and get off the training is over. I thought to my self this is not the sort of training I want and Couldn't wait for my day to end. Sorry to say I failed my mod 2 that day, due to things I messed up on, but I never went back for my mod 2 with phoenix, I waited and looked around and checked reviews of other training providers as I never wanted a repeat of the experience I had last time. Perhaps we just clashed? I don't know. Now I've passed with another trainer and never had the issues I had with Phoenix but alI can say Is go along and meet the trainers and make sure they Suit your needs.
Thank you for the review. I, as founder and owner of Phoenix South West Ltd am always concerned to read discouraging reviews as this reflects on the whole service provided by Phoenix and taints all of the trainers on the team. I m saddened by your experience and can assure you that this is not the usual standard expected and delivered by Phoenix trainers. To put you and others minds at rest action has been taken in this matter. Paul, the above mentioned trainer, is no longer a Phoenix trainer nor a part of the organisation as we have standards of which i m proud, set way above this level of service. I apologise for any poor experience you have had. I welcome you back once you have a motorcycle for an advanced training day which i can offer you at no charge. Mike Merrett Owner/Senior Trainer.
Fantastic experience: Really good, definitely recommend them to anyone that wants to get some motorcycle training.
thank you for your kind comments.
Fantastic experience: From an interest in a brand new Kwasaki, through to being contacted by Phoenix as Kwasaki's approved training school, then to a faultless mod 2 pass yesterday and collection of my new 66 plate Kwasaki. All in all a great experience. Professional and flexible. I would highly recommend to anyone researching for a school.
Thanks very much James! Enjoy your new Kawasaki!!
Negative experience: Great firm to train with, used them alot for various CBT's. 1st time around my instructor was mike, very patient, calm and understanding but firm when needed to be. Recently failed my mod 1 through training from Paul. I'm not blaming Paul in anyway because it was my fault not his but i feel that not having any experience on the conversion day on the road wasn't the best idea seeing as my mod 1 test was 3 days later in the morning. The only on road riding i had was hour before mod1 test and understandably i made a few tiny mistakes but i was made to feel like i just hit someone. Yes an instructor needs to be assertive but there is no need to shout down the mic to students the way he did. Very good prices and training. Just need to work on manners a touch.
Fantastic experience: Done my Cbt with Mike at the start of June. A great instructor!! Had a great experience so decided to go with them again for my mod1. They managed to fit me in the day after I completed my theory test For mod1. This time I had a different instructor called Paul. An equally as good instructor. Was nervous would be a understatement!! But with Paul help we sailed through it. Done a training day with Mike on Monday for mod2 we fitted a lot of bike skills in. But was still in my mind not quite there!! Then Tuesday Paul the legend took me out for a 2 hour session b4 my test. And now I have a full bike licenses:-) pass first time!! in just a month. Big thanks to Mike an Paul
Paddy, always a pleasure. Ride safe and enjoy the roads! M&P
Negative experience: First time I done my CBT with this company was with a guy called Mike he was brilliant with tons of patience very informative but the 2nd time I went back to do my CBT I had guy called Paul. He was a bit inpatient and talked a bit unprofessional behind the guys back who was also doing his CBT with me. I have also just tried to book my full licence with them and they was unsure about dates. I asked very politely for him to get back to me and let me know when the next possible date would be and I got a reply with "whatever" customer service is very poor
Mason,
thank you for your review. I am sorry you are disappointed. I have read through your messages exchanged with us and would like the opportunity to better explain the situation. A conversion day includes all of the mod 1 training in addition to a visit to the test centre in preparation for a subsequent mod 1 test . We book tests up to 10 weeks in advance and at present all our pre-booked tests are allocated. Whilst we could accommodate training on the 8th as discussed we do not have a specific test lot available for you afterwards, but that is not to say one will not become available. We endeavor to prepare you in advance by doing the conversion and training day so that we are both prepared. It maybe a test slot will come up at short notice and then you would be ready for it. This would be better explained by telephone in person rather than in complete message xchange. I can send this information by email if easier. Best regards Mike
Fantastic experience: Passed both tests first time down to these guys :) amazing bunch of instructors. No other training school in Bristol could compete with quality or value Defiantly recommended!
Thanks for your kind words. Ride safely.
Fantastic experience: I had such an awesome time at Phoenix Motorcycle Training Bristol. Their professionalism got me through my mod 1 and mod 2. Very friendly service and incredible training, they made it clear I what was needed to pass and made me a safer rider. I highly recommend them to all. I found Paul to be very patient and accommodating to me need . Thanks again guys
Thank you for taking the trouble to write us a review, much appreciated, safe riding! Mike & Paul
Fantastic experience: From my 1st phone call through to passing my mod 2 I cannot speak highly enough of Phoenix. Excellent instructors, very knowledgeable. 1st class bikes and safety gear. Training times to suit, reasonable prices, food and drink supplied. Great location. Any motorcycle training you need please use this company, you will not be disappointed. When I was booking the fact that Phoenix had new bikes didn't really matter to me that much but after visiting the test centre for mod 1 and mod 2 and to have a look at the place on training day I realised how important the bikes were when I saw students from other companies struggling to get there bikes in gear on bikes that looked fit for the scrap yard, the bike makes things so much easier and the heated grips are perfect for cold days. Massive thanks to all the team, especially Paul who has taken me from a nervous person on a powerful bike to completing my mod 2 in a short space of time. He is straight and honest which is exactly what I would expect. If you are not upto scratch and want someone to put there arm around you and tell you that your great then go somewhere else but if you want a straight talking instructor that will get you upto the expectations of the examiner so that you pass this is the place to go. 10 out of 10. Thanks again.
Fantastic experience: After 20 yrs away from bikes was hopeless but with just 3 days over 2 wk period with Paul Arnold passed cbt ,mod 1 and mod 2 first time ! Thoroughly recommend Paul and his team.
Fantastic experience: Great training, new high end bikes, passed my mod 1 and 2 with them. Overall great experience, would recommend to friends and anyone who wants to take their tests.
Fantastic experience: Great Training. Did my CBT renewal and then on to my Mod 1 and 2 and im now the proud owner of a full licence . Paul was very proffesional with great instruction and a lot of helpfull tips along the way. Has made me a much better and safer rider. There a great team at Pheniox with top notch gear and bikes. And they are all real bikers who love what they do. Having used other trainng schools around Bristol to renew my cbt over the years i can say from experience Pheniox are the best.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant training done motorcycle mod1 on Monday passed 1st time and mod 2 on Friday and passed 1st time. Great training and great staff always done in a friendly and happy way. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking to do any format of motorcycle training you will learn a lot from this great team. Many thanks to Paul and everyone else who works for phoenix motorcycle training.
Many thanks from the Phoenix team.
Fantastic experience: Great day doing my CBT training with Paul at Phoenix. Total beginner when it came to riding but Paul took me through everything in detail and answered any question I had in detail, which is exactly what I needed. Great time out on the bike, felt very safe and professional throughout. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed completing my CBT with Phoenix. I found Paul to be very informative and he helped guide me though the day. I left feeling confident and excited to complete the next part of my test. Great experience.
