Fantastic experience: I had absolutely no motorcycle experience and was very nervous. Luke created an enjoyable atmosphere where I felt relaxed enough to learn and made so much progress, feeling confident to ride. He is supportive and explains all aspects of the training clearly. It was a very enjoyable two days. I am looking forward to taking my test with Luke in three months time.

Fantastic experience: After not achieving my cbt earlier this year with another school and a not positive day i went to this one for another try i went there feeling nervous and unsure whether i could achieve my cbt this time or not. However Russell reassured me right at the start how he was different and he proved that throughout the whole day. He was brilliant with the first modules of getting used to the mope head. Then when it came to the 2 hour riding on the road he proved how good of an instructor he really is. Every mistake i made he understood how it can be difficult however without ever blaming me or raising his voice we would pull over he would explain what to change and i ended up achieving my cbt. Russel really is an amazing instructor how he is with his clients and how he understands that’s everyone makes mistakes all show he is a perfect instructor.

Fantastic experience: I recently attended the four day course I have to say Russell is an amazingly patient guy, he’s understanding and could see that I was struggling with certain things, but was quick to reassure me.. I seriously cannot recommend him enough! if you are thinking about getting onto two wheels he is your man.

Fantastic experience: I've always gone to russle for everything sent family and friends what can I say he is absolutely amazing heart of gold and always has a bright smile on his face ,he takes on a huge work load but the wait is so worth it . He caters for your needs and will always help you to work through your weak points he's understanding and calm .even dropped a bike once But wasn't met with any anger just a smile and that's what we're here for .honestly top man couldn't recommend enough. Fantastic experience: Russell from Coast is the best teacher I’ve ever had in my life, I had wanted to get my full bike license for 18 years and last year Russell helped me achieve it, I attempted it earlier in 2023 with a different company, I thought because I’m a woman, getting trained by a woman would put me at ease because I have a fear of tests and I don’t normally do well in a test environment, but instead I had a horrible experience that made me want to give up riding, so going in for the test again was really scary (especially with a male trainer) but going with Coast was the best decision I ever made, Russell knows how to train you as an individual because he respects and understands that everyone learns differently. Each day of training you get to actually ride the MOD1 test practice at Coast which is the best thing because that’s what I was most worried about, I was so ill the day before my test, I came in and rode the MOD1 practice at Coast like I had never ridden a bike before I knocked over a bunch of cones and failed to do a single figure 8, Russell gave me a ‘tough love’ talk and minutes later I tried the MOD1 practice again and nailed it, I then went on to pass my test and get my full licence and run around the test centre hugging everyone! I cannot recommend Coast enough I had the best experience and I have learned how to be a good safe rider, thanks Russell!

Fantastic experience: I have just renewed my CBT for the first time with Russell and I was very happy with how he trains and treats his customers, he’s an incredibly intelligent man and taught me so much more than I expected despite my long experience on the road, whereas other CBT companies seem to only give you a certificate and move you on in a rush, Russell properly shows you all you need to know and takes time to ensure after the CBT we are well informed to be the safest we can be on the road, he’s definitely got a loyal customer as I’m booking myself in for my A2 license in advance already with him and he will be the only person I could happily recommend to others. Fantastic experience: In response to ‘lewis Corbett’s review left on the same day as this review but also as my own review on Russel. I think the reason Lewis felt the way he did being a early twenties man and me being a 17 year old girl and I got the hang of a geared bike quickly yet he struggled for hours despite Russel the instructor giving Lewis more time and attention than me which I did not mind as I was more than happy to work out the bike and gears via trial and error whilst Lewis and Russel worked together. Unfortunately lewis had to end up using an automatic moped as after 2 hours he struggled with gears. I think the issue was not Russell’s training but more Lewis’ anxiety, lack of balance and uncomfortable due to never even using a push bike. All in all I was really happy with Russell training for me, despite Lewis taking up more of the ‘attention’ and the days lesson took about 3 hours longer than it should have due to me getting the hang very quickly and Lewis did not feel confident. Russell was kind and explained everything well and as I was a trial and error person I prefer to kind of listen to Russel and then give it a go alone I was happy with the coaching and how he made me feel happy and was very complimentary when I did well and was understanding if I stalled or messed the gears up and in no way belittling me. I would highly recommend especially if you want to learn on a 125 geared motorbike not a moped! 5 stars all the way!

Negative experience: Russells reputation is met with largely brilliant feedback of people enjoying their cbt and coming away feeling confident and ready to ride...however, i was left feeling very differently, i was left feeling humiliated and unbearably stressed. i did make some mistakes however russels "flexible" teaching did not reach me, with 0 feedback on how to improve or explanation on how to do something differently it felt at times that i was teaching myself to ride, but also with 0 positive feedback i didnt know what i was doing right either. contradictory teaching left me completely lost and at times feeling unsafe. being berated infront of the other participant for not knowing how and being unable to ride a geared bike was the final straw that almost made me leave the training site early however kept going and eventually got my cbt along with again unbearable stress. i will never be renewing my cbt here. many other people may have had a very positive experience however on this day it is only possible to describe it as a day from hell.

Fantastic experience: Russel is a great, no sorry an amazing instructor, very professional and trains you to the highest levels. Had a great week with him doing my mod 1 & 2. Good laughs and great bikes to train on, he's that good we dodged most of the rain with his master planning too.

Fantastic experience: Did my first CBT with Russell at the end of January; I was a bit nervous having always lived in cities, not needing motor transport, but the day went really well (even if a bit chilly!) Russell was calm, clear, and all-round top instructor, clear and pragmatic in his explanations, and I was glad to have passed and get out on the road. A month or so into riding my first motorbike I am really enjoying it -- the nerves have cleared completely, and am now keep finding myself watching Youtube videos of people completing their full tests .. perhaps I will come back to for that in due course!

Fantastic experience: Couldn't recommend Russell more. Looks like it's all been said before but - well maintained and quality bikes and generous, attentive and high standard tutoring. I feel a vastly better road user for motorcycles as well as more generally, having done my CBT and full license with him. Despite the nerves Russell made the days *fun*. Thanks again.

Fantastic experience: Came back to Russell for my DAS and passed today. Russell has a great way of explaining things just the way you need to hear them. He's funny without mocking, sarcastic without being mean, direct when he needs to get a point across but never left me feeling 'told off'. Everything he does is about making you a better rider and he has real patience and understanding. While me and my fellow student were having lunch during our four days we met numerous people who all could not say enough good things about Russell and told us we'd made a great choice. I'm proud to join the ranks of successful students who will sing Russell's praises to anyone who will listen. :-D

Fantastic experience: My wife recently passed her CBT with Russell and started the day incredibly anxious/unsure and left a new woman. From wobbly to confident in just one day! I myself did the full access course (CBT and A1) with Russell a few years ago now and I cannot praise him enough, the man is very patient and thorough in every exercise required. Even when I struggled with silly mistakes and old habits, he guided me in the right direction in the right manner. So to hear my wife exclaim the same thoughts, experience and achievements compelled me to write a review (which I should of done originally!) Fantastic experience: Started the day on a manual bike which I was absolutely hopeless at, doing almost everything wrong and nothing right. Russell however remained so patient with me all day, which was incredibly helpful when I was getting myself quite stressed and agitated on the manual bike. I then did my road module on the automatic after his suggestion, which let me pass my CBT after refining some of my highway code knowledge. I went into it with zero experience and came out with a my CBT certificate and feeling comfortable enough to go ride on the roads. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Russell is quite frankly amazing...He is incredibly calm, patient and forgiving. He will push you and you'll grow to tire of hearing his voice directly into your ear lol but everything he says is constructive. I couldn't recommend him highly enough. I opted for 4 days training for my category A licence and I'm glad I did. It relieved a lot of pressure and allowed time for the mistakes to be ironed out.

Fantastic experience: Great company amazing service very helpful & polite.communication through lockdown was amazing having to keep up with lockdown changes 1 & 2 ect.last time I done a cbt was nearly 10 years ago & have only since used off road motocross bikes here & there over the years so very rusty in places! Spent 4 days with russell training for my full bike licence mod 1 & mod 2 & it payed off passing both first time honestly can't thank him enough! Bikes are immaculate very well looked after & maintained always cleaned after every ride ready for the next day!.5 stars all the way!

Fantastic experience: If you want a first class instructor to learn how to ride a motorcycle and pass your test than I suggest you look no further than Russell at Coast Motorcycle Training. After not riding a motorcycle for nearly 35 years I booked a CBT course with Russell in March and then took a 4 day DAS course in May with mod 1 and mod 2 tests on day 4. I passed both tests first time with just 3 minors on the mod 2 test thanks to Russell's training. The bikes used are in excellent condition, well maintained and easy to ride and thanks to Russell's patience and professionalism he'll put your nerves at ease and will give you the confidence to go and obtain your full license.

I then did my direct access course with him last week. In just 3 days I managed to pass my full test (test on the 3rd day) He provides quality training to riders of all levels and experience. Fantastic experience: Great motorcycle instructor, excellent standard of training and excellent standard of maintenance and upkeep on his motorbikes (including heated grips 9n the fazer), Russel was extremely helpful doing everything in his power to get me trained and ready to finish my Direct Access course, I had 10 days before my theory and Mod 1 ran out and I passed with a couple of days to spare!
