Mick Extance Experience

Fantastic experience: Attended yesterday for my first experience with offroad riding and it was top notch from start to end. Pete the instructor was brilliant, very knowledgeable easy to talk to and really genuinely interested in getting the best out of the experience for everyone. You could see that he loves it and wants to pass that on. From the start of the day to the end he made us improve in every aspect. There were other volunteers/instructors there too and they were the same, they were there for the love of it. Petes partner I can't recall her name apologies and Rhod I think the guys name was he pushed us up a few steep hills with encouragement. The hole day was epic and can't wait to go back again. The bikes all seemed to be great too, I'm not an expert by any means but they all looked maintained and cared for. The gear was great even though you give your sizes beforehand plenty of options to change on the day if something didn't fit. The forestry and mountains are a beautiful setting, couldn't be anywhere more picturesque. So much land to play on the bikes, you'd never get bored there. My only complaints are that my body is sore all over and I've gained an expensive hobby! All in all totally worth it, if you're thinking of doing it don't hesitate.

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing day yesterday at The Mick Extance Experience, being very new to off road riding and at a relatively advanced age, I felt that I would benefit from 121 tuition to help build my skills and confidence. Pete was my instructor for the day...........I could not have asked for anyone one better, he was outstanding! Pete explained everything very clearly and was very patient and observant, pointing out clearly how I could improve, I never thought I would be able to do some of the things on the bike that I did yesterday, all thanks to Pete. As well as being an awesome tutor, Pete was so knowledgeable about the local area and the wildlife etc and really appreciates the environment that he rides in. Thanks for a brilliant day and I will not hesitate for one minute to book again..............soon!

Fantastic experience: What a day! From arrival at the Llangynog Adventure Centre we had a warm welcome with all kit ready to go. After a safety briefing from Pete our instructor, who was brilliant, he took us out on the trails. As a novice rider I didn’t know what to expect but Pete’s instructions were clear and his coaching abilities are excellent. We graduated throughout the day on to more technical terrain learning and honing skills throughout. All the equipment including bikes were in great condition and the scenery was stunning. Highly recommend, I’m already looking at booking another visit!

Fantastic experience: We took one of the lads we look after for the ultimate outdoors experience as a treat and he wasn't disappointed. In his words "it was one of the best days out he has ever had in his time in care". He is looking to see if he can work towards going again. We look forward to bringing other teenagers we look after as well as we were so impressed with Pete and the team for how they were with the lad and ourselves. Fantastic experience: Really good day Pete was our instructor along with 2 other guys. There were 7 of us and as 3 other lads weren't very experienced they went off with the other 2 lads for a day more suited to them and we had a great day doing some nice and some challenging trails. Will be going again!

Fantastic experience: What a day! Yes, we were lucky with the weather. But the day was a bucket full of fun. I had never ridden motorbikes off-road - I've ridden mountain bikes for years - this gave me the same buzz I get mountain biking but the buzz is uphill as well as downhill. We had a small group of 5 and between Pete, John and Harvey they tested us, taught us new skills and guided us around some of the most amazing terrain. The Beta 300 x-trainer seemed to be perfect for the job with just the right amount of power and really light so picking up from the floor was relatively simple. Thanks guys

Fantastic experience: I spent Saturday on the Stark Varg with Pete as my instructor he led all day. What an experience. Everyone must try these bikes at the Great venue. Fantastic experience: I recently had the pleasure of having Pete as an instructor on a Mick Extance Experience Ultimate Off Road Day. Firstly the whole day was amazing, it more than exceeded all of our expectations and is well worth the money. When we arrived all the kit was laid out ready to go so there was little time wasted and we were on the bikes in no time Pete and the 2 lads helping him were awesome, he started off with the basics, giving us little tips and advice along the way and gradually increased the difficulty as the day progressed, encouraging us to try more challenging obstacles as we gained more confidence making the whole day really enjoyable. I can highly recommend Mick Extance Experience, the Ultimate Off Road day, and Pete as an instructor and we will certainly be doing it again soon. My friends and I have not stopped talking about the day and a few of us are now scouring the internet to find our own enduro bikes. Thanks guys!!

Fantastic experience: Outstanding day. Great bikes, kit, instructions and venue. The group all had a brilliant day and learnt a huge amount. The tutors led the group at an appropriate pace and were good fun.

Fantastic experience: If you want to have fun / laugh / see some of the most incredible views while learning how to ride theese incredible bikes properly. Then this is the place to come. Weather you've riden bikes before or have no experience what so ever, everything is suited to you and you get taught how to use theese incredible bikes to the best of there ability. Highly recommend for any age of person they are brilliant.

Fantastic experience: Amazing day. As a beginner with no experience, I was given a 121 session and learnt so much. Shane was so patient with me and my ADHD. Definitely could have started earlier and finished a bit later but other than that it was the most perfect day. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had the lucky experience of doing this 5 times now. Each time has been absolutely fantastic but the session we had recently (19/07) was by far the best day I’ve had with the team. Pete was our instructor for the day and he was such a good teacher, even with road experience and doing the day before I learnt a lot of new things through Pete. His wife Rachel was also a big help. We can’t wait to come back next year and will be requesting 1to1 with Pete if possible.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant experience. The team was very well organised and professional. The instructors did a great job getting the whole group up to speed and familiar with riding off road and kindly split the group at lunch to allow everyone to have a satisfying experience. We were taken into some pretty fun areas of the land and we were pushed and left exhausted but with big smiles on our faces.

Fantastic experience: What an awesome experience this was. Everyone very friendly, stunning scenery and trails, all the kit clean and laid out ready when you arrive. Our group had Pete teaching us and what a fantastic teacher and nice guy he is. Really looked after people, very clear instructions and he very expertly evolved the training bit by bit through the day keeping the difficulty level just right so that you were being challenged, but not out of your depth. Will definitely go back again.

Fantastic experience: Just had another day here with Pete and Harvey instructing - left on a real high having been pushed just enough out of my comfort zone to make it challenging and exciting. Both Pete and Harvey were great at guaging everyone's capabilities and comfort levels, giving more individual attention when needed, and explaining techniques really well. I always felt safe and have come away with a real sense of achievement. A bonus is the amazing setting. Highly recommended for all levels of riders

Fantastic experience: An incredible day and if anything i would say it is under priced for the experiance your getting. Massive shout out to our instructor Mick. It's evident he knows what he's talking about but its also clear to see this is not just a job to him, its his passion. All of our group were bikers but never done anything like this previously and we left searching autotrader for dirt bikes. If your reading this, you're clearly thinking about doing it. As the good people at Nike (other brands available) say, Just do it, you wont regret it.

Fantastic experience: I went with 7 friends, all mature road riders of varying experience. Every single one of us had an excellent, challenging and extremely satisfying day. Time was taken to ensure that everyone was well matched to their bikes, for the short legged there was a selection of bikes available, allowing all to get their feet on the floor, a great confidence booster. Instruction was good, light-hearted and fun, and the challenges stepped up progressively. We had travelled together in a minibus from Norfolk and, tired but happy, the bus was buzzing on the way home! Highly recommended for a fun day out and/or to increase your confidence on 2 wheels. Spectacular views, great fun!

Fantastic experience: Great all round day of biking in an absolutely wonderful setting. From the most challenging terrain to easy gravel trails Oli Mick and Sonia made sure we were safe and competent. Can’t praise them enough even the rain and biting hail couldn’t ruin our day.

Fantastic experience: What an excellent experience! Brilliant talented instructors, ( Pete for leading it and ably supported by Dean and Shane), and well thought out training which allows all participants, regardless of their skill level, to do things they would never think they would be capable of. Loads of riding miles in a beautiful environment, (and many many challenges en-route) result in a day full of smiles. Thanks to Pete, Dean and Shane for looking after us so well, (especially Dean for picking me up off the ground without smirking). Can recommend it for everybody, from zero experience upwards – they can train you and give you an unforgettably great time.

Fantastic experience: Great location and the staff were friendly, encouraging and really good at coaching you so you would have enough skills and confidence to tackle all the difficult kinds of terrain on offer. Really fun, relaxed environment and got to ride things I never would have tried on my own. Fantastic experience: I got my partner an experience day here for Xmas and it's safe to say he had the best time ever and is looking at rebooking! He has not shut up about it and met some great people , it sounded like an amazing day. With how much he enjoyed the day id give more than 5 stars if I could :)

Fantastic experience: Incredible experience. Been going every year for the last 7 years and it just gets better every time. So we'll organised and the trainers really know their stuff. Never feel overwhelmed with the challenges and even taken a few non riders who join on to the team easy enough after a little briefing. Brilliant day out just wish it was closer.

Fantastic experience: Me and my partner came here on 31st January. I wasn't initially going to ride but then had my arm twisted (I didn't need a lot of convincing). Well, it was a decision I certainly didn't regret. We had the best time! Pete, a lovely lad who's name escapes me (sorry) and Sophie were amazing, really patient (I don't have much off-road experience). There was never any pressure to do anything I felt uncomfortable with. They were all really kind, encouraging and supportive. Kit was provided, clean, good quality kit and bikes. We loved it that much we're back again in a few weeks time... Highly recommend this place for a great off road experience. Thanks guys and girls for a fantastic day :)

Fantastic experience: ***Update*** After a discussion with Pete from the Mick Extance Experience, I went back to the venue to do it again. There have been some changes to the venue that I referenced, and some changes to personnel. The result is excellent. The venue is still top notch, the tuition was excellent, but now the time on the bike matched the rest. There is now also the choice of electric or petrol bikes. The part I appreciate the most is the willingness to listen, accept customer feedback, and implement changes. The staff genuinely want you to have a good day. After my return visit, I will definitely be going again. Prior to doing Mick Extance experience, I attended the Honda Dave Thorpe enduro experience and the Honda Adventure Centre 2 day course. As a comparison, the Mick Extance, bikes, equipment, routes, and tuition are far better than the Dave Thorpe experience The equipment at the Honda Adventure centre was on a par, but with better facilities. The reason I have graded it as 3 stars is due to the lack of time I spent in the seat. My watch tracks my movement, and during the day, I spent only 3.5 hours riding. We didn't get on the bikes till nearly 10:00. By 11:45, we stopped for lunch. Nearly 1.5 hours in a cold space for lunch was a little boring. We then stopped at 14:30, where the bikes were packed away. At 15:30, I was back on the road riding home. The day was also interspersed with far too many smoke breaks. The saddle time should have been far better. Maybe I was just unlucky as it was a Friday, but next time, I plan on trying someone else.

Fantastic experience: Attended Experience Day on Oct 6th with my friend Dan. In short the day was excellently organised from the moment we were collected promptly by our instructor at 9am. Our instructor was Pete, who was a superb teacher all the way through the day, communicating really well with plenty of patience and a clear passion for what he's doing. We also had John and Ollie with the group who both were again lovely people to be around and looked after us all well so the day could progress smoothly with minimal time waiting around for maximum time riding. Its worth noting the staff not only do the fun parts of the job but also get stuck in washing/maintaining the bikes as well as loading out the gear in the morning etc to make the day run smooth and enjoyable for participants. First class experience.......we have rebooked for Dec as a result.

Fantastic experience: Was a bit apprehensive about what to expect as have booked off-road days before and been disappointed. So so glad I came out in the rain one of the best days out I’ve had on my bike - learned loads, took it at my own pace with zero expectations and loads of support when I needed it. The tracks are really varied and seemingly endless. Mega value for money. Pete is an absolute legend and very patient teacher - I can’t wait to come back!! Thank you so much!!

Fantastic experience: Had an incredible day that totally redefined what I thought was possible on a bike; we went up and down things that I wouldn't have dreamed of attempting, all thanks to the expert 1-2-1 tuition of trainer Pete. I was very unsure about my level of ability, but Pete quickly identified the perfect difficulty level to start on, and then with the techniques he taught me we were quickly tackling obstacles and gradients that I couldn't believe we could get through. Everything I learned on the 100kg enduro bike I borrowed I've found I can now apply to riding my adventure bike at twice the size; my confidence in what I can achieve on my own bike is at a whole new level! Now just have to work out when I can come back!

Fantastic experience: Had a banging day here today 21/8/ 23. I’m not a rider but always liked bikes and wanted one so decided to do a day here. I had a trainer “Ollie” who took me under his wing today and trained me in all manner of controlling the bike from clutch control etc. In the morning Ollie helped me and another person but in the afternoon Ollie took me out solo and helped me on a one to one basis. My friends who are riders went off with the more experienced riders and did their own thing which was fine with me as I was no where near their standard, and I appreciated the one to one assistance. The experience here for both riders and none riders is excellent. The team of instructors are great and very professional and patient. The views are great. This is worth doing regardless of experience level of the Individual. The bikes and kit are top quality as well.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience. The instructors Mick, Pete & Rachael are excellent. There’s a really positive atmosphere and no pressure at all. The venue is spectacular, with awesome trails and plenty of challenges, the instructors keep you safe and are full of great tips to help you tackle the trails. The Beta 2 strokes are so much fun. Don’t hesitate to book, even if you’ve never ridden off road or never been on a bike, the tuition is that good you’ll be up to speed in no time. Thanks guys.

Fantastic experience: We visited at the end of May and would highly recommend this. The experience went above all expectations. From the off we were made to feel welcome. The equipment and bikes were clearly well looked after and everything was very organised. Both instructors were full of posititivity and committed to supporting us learn new skills. Whenever we found anything tricky they were calm and helpful; sharing advice. There was no judgement at finding things hard. The location was stunning and the tracks were varied. The progression throughout the day was well thought out. All abilities were catered for and no-one was left out.

Fantastic experience: I would hole heartedly recommend this to anyone, with years of experience or 0 experience. Mick is an inspiration the way he teaches people and the thing he has done in his life are extraordinary. If you are reading this BOOK IT. You will certainly not regret it. In our group we had a good mix of experiences from someone with zero experience to some with a good bit. All of us ended the day riding along together with Mick at the front willing us all along with a cheeky rev of the bike as we completed that section. A big shout out to Pete as well that took our group in the morning what a guy and a true lover of all things bikes and another amazing teacher. You will learn more about riding a bike in one day than 10+ years road experience. Loved every second, I will be back in December !!

Fantastic experience: Second time at Mick venue... 1st was 1 month ago on their HD Pan America which I loved (day, team and bike). The experience was so good I booked another day off-road this time for my son ((16 years old) who never been on a motorbike before. I can tell you he loved his day, from start to finish! The team and Mick are extra cool, nice and welcoming he felt very comfortable even with his social anxiety! He's now planning to come back this time with his girlfriend... He won't be the 1st one to come back for another day as few of the people there this time... Impressive!! On top of all, Pete and Mick let me ride with my son which made our day... I love these guys...

Fantastic experience: I wanted to say that we were lucky to be able to learn from the best. Mick was not only the most talented and experienced motocross biker I have met but also very warm hearted, brave and very encouraging guy I have ever met. I know that there are other experiences like this as well like the Yamaha and others but I will recommend Mick Extance Experience above all the big companies experiences. Having never ridden a bike before I was nervous but by the end of the day I had explored so much of the site and my confidence was 100x higher thanks to the amazing tuition of mick who we got all day. Fantastic experience: Amazing day out with Mick and the team! Didn’t really quite know what to expect for the day as it was brought as a gift experience! We had zero off road experience which didn’t seem to bother them all! After an hour or so getting used to the bikes in their ‘skills area’ we then set off around the forest to varying locations where we would be faced with different challenges! For any ones that’s on the edge of booking, I wouldn’t hesitate to go! Top day out.

Positive experience: Awesome trails and instructors. We thoroughly enjoyed our day. It is expensive (£750 for a party of 3) and probably a one off treat for us. Would have been a 5 star review if it was a little cheaper or a little more time on the bikes. It was a shame Mick or Adam weren't out with us on the day. Otherwise it does what it says on the tin!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic day riding around the Welsh hills. My daughter had never ridden before but Pete the instructor was amazing, she was tackling tough hills and trails by the end of the day! Would thoroughly recommend this to anyone, novice or experienced.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic day out! I was an absolute beginner but my instructor Pete was great made me feel comfortable and had me out on the trails very quick! 100% recommend even for people with no experience with bikes.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely class place to ride. 8 of us with 1 non rider, well a non rider for 20 mins then Mick got him sorted and he joined us for the full day! The instructors geared the routes to our level and taught us some good skills. Weather was typical Welsh weather for November but made it all the more fun. Will definitely be back

Fantastic experience: A return visit to Mick Extance experience. An incredibly wet day but the enthusiasm of Pete, Shane, Harvey and Dave certainly rubbed off on us all. They had us all working hard and set us challenges that improved our individual riding capabilities tenfold. Brilliantly kitted out with clean comfortable clothing and the newly arranged adventure centre is very nicely done. Roll on October 2024 and the opportunity for the electric bikes, they look superb and very capable. There's not another off-roading experience that comes close to this. It's worth every penny. Don't delay book today.

Fantastic experience: I had the most wonderful experience as a totally new rider. Pete looked after me all day and got me riding trails by the afternoon after learning the basic skills. Fantastic experience: I never write reviews but I have to let others know what they are missing out on, having just finished the day experience i cannot remember the last time i throughly enjoyed something so much, the long and short is this offroad experience day is AMAZING! The setup is top notch from the RST adventure clothing to the brand new BETA 300 2 stroke bikes. The tuition, support and encouragement from all the guys makes this experience superb. If you are looking for a day out, do not worry about not knowing about bikes, the guys break it down for you to apply it, it is from the ground up and you will not believe what you are able to conquer by the end of the day. Thankyou for a perfect day, literally checking availability to go back with my dad as a treat.

Fantastic experience: Super fun well worth it. Kit and bikes are are of such quality. You all start out as begginers doing slow control, slalom, and ruts etc . Then you split off into different level groups after lunch for some hard enduro if you want with Rob. This won't be too easy ! Beta 300 x trainer bikes are incredible! Cheers guys staff very friendly and helpful/patient. 5 mins from revs bike park too makes a long trip very worth it from South East. Cheers

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend this place enough for anyone who wants to try off road riding, regardless of experience. Eight of us attended with varying degrees of ability and everyone spent the day with huge grins on their faces. From the first email right through to the end they were great, all you have to do is turn up and everything’s ready for you. The team that came out with us were excellent instructors, matched the day to our ability and we all learned lots while having massive amounts of fun on some awesome bikes. The kit provided was top notch, the team go out of their way to help and with a perfect mix of trails in some stunning Welsh countryside you won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Would highly recommend this to anyone of any skill level. Attended here today as a novice bike rider with never have riden a motorbike off-road and with only a couple of hours experience riding, I was quickly made to feel very comfortable by the guys. The first hour included of a refresher lesson, pulling away, controlling the clutch and brakes and preparing for the day ahead. Which then progressively led into trials and technical riding. Everyone there was extremely friendly and made you feel comfortable with everything that’s going on and didn’t feel out my of depth at all. Top tier blokes, top tier bikes and a top tier day.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely superb day spent with Pete. Experience was a present for myself and son who had never ridden a bike before. If you haven't ridden before or not for a long time they start off with the basic and build up gradually to build confidence. By the end of the day we were going on the trails and out seeing the views. An great team and superb location.

Fantastic experience: I don't normally write reviews but feel I must share what a fantastic day my 19 year old son and I had on the Mick Extance Ultimate Off-Road Day Experience this week. I've done quite a few off-road days and track days over the years but this one tops them all in every aspect....top quality equipment and bikes, absolutely superb care and tuition from the Extance team of instructors and what a setting in the Welsh hills! Within the first 5 minutes the instructors had clocked my son was struggling a bit and took him off with some others for an absolutely first-class day of tuition; he was literally unrecognisable by the end of the day in terms of his skills and control. This is such a big plus of this day, Mick and his guys will split the group if necessary to ensure everyone gets the attention they need and get the best personal experience no matter how expert (or not) you are. The group I was in faced some incredible challenges, I was way out of my comfort zone at times BUT never did it feel unsafe or reckless. I learnt SO MUCH! This is was the most intense and rewarding day on a bike I think I've ever had. Thanks to Mick and his team...what a friendly, expert bunch of blokes....Cheers lads!

Fantastic experience: This place is really special. From the moment you arrive, everything is prepared with great equipment already sized and a thorough briefing. Then off to the bikes up in the mountain. As the only one in the group with no experience and a little on the older side (67), I was given one to one all day - the morning with Mick himself then the afternoon with Pete. Both were so patient, so helpful and so expert in giving me the confidence and knowledge and it was just the most brilliant day. Spectacular scenery, amazing and huge network of tracks and fortunately, perfect weather. For anyone who has a secret yearning to get on a motorbike, this is the place to go. Worth every penny. And I felt deeply privileged to have had Dakar ace Mick all to myself for 3 hours.

Fantastic experience: If you haven't done any off road riding- do this, even if you don't ever want to do off road stuff, it's so much fun and as challenging as you need it to be. Definately worth every penny, it's been a couple of weeks since I attended a day of training with Mick, himself. I saved doing my review until after taking part in some off roading on the TET and some other green lanes around the peak district last Saturday. So from doing NO off road riding ever to a full day of it on some difficult stuff (for me!) after just one day with Mick - I didn't fall off, drop the bike or crash. I remembered most of what Mick told me, I was confident after doing so much training. I probably will fall off in future but that day unlike many others I kept it upright! The centre itself is massive with so much space, the scenery is stunning, I will definatly be back. Thanks Steve H
