Fantastic experience: I had a great experience learning to drive with Hugh. It was clear to see within the first lesson that he is very good at what he does. He has a great way of teaching manoeuvres which make things so easy and simple that it’s almost impossible to get it wrong! On a personal level it was great to learn from someone that I could also get along so well with. It was great to chat to about music, football, or just life in general. Something that helped me was that Hugh wouldn’t shy away from conversations regarding mental health, whilst also taking this into consideration whilst preparing me for my test. Thanks again Hugh!

Fantastic experience: I've heard of many bad experiences with driving instructors, but Hugh is not one of those. Extremely lucky to have him and pass first time, no faults, and could not recommend him enough! I was a couple years later to driving and so often struggled to balance lessons and practise with limited time. Had to take a 3 month gap at one point. But Hugh was ready to get started again as soon as I was able, no questions asked. Constant encouragement to keep practising and learning, with a straightforward and frankly honest approach. I always understood where my progress was, even when Hugh had to convince me I was test-ready and to be confident in myself! Great laugh, great instructor, an all round great person to get you ready to pass one of life's biggest milestones. Always have my thanks Hugh, all the best!

Fantastic experience: passed my test today first time with hugh, he’s been great for the 9 months i had him, always a great laugh especially when you you were nervous. i gained so much confidence when learning to drive all thanks to him. i would highly recommend hugh to anyone!

Fantastic experience: Hugh (Shug) I cannot rate this guy high enough had nearly a year with another instructor which was a complete waste of time and money, Hugh in contrast explained every detail simply with clear precise instructions and a calm encouraging manner. Fantastic experience: Such an amazing person to learn to drive with, I struggled a lot with nerves at the start of my lessons and he completely got me through it and put up with my constant yapping and distractions for the past 6 months. Fantastic experience: Hugh is a great driving instructor, I started off quite nervous at driving as most people do, although he motivated me to pass my theory test (2nd time) and practical test (1st time). Fantastic experience: Madness. After years of work i have passed under Hugh's guidance. This top class human being will take on most to any challenges..i am adhd and when i started with Hugh i had bad anxiety. i was going through counselling/medical issues. Retaining information was hard but his patience held rewards. I knew i would take longer at 36/37 to be legal to drive adding everything on, yet he believed in me. Even when i only used two gears. Now i use all 6 lol! I have grew substantially in confidence in driving and other part of life. His comprehensive lessons and high standards make you vastly prepared for safe consistent driving. A bit of old school banter, some music and a few good catch phrases keep it fun with lots of laughter. At least for me. Ultimately i have done a lot of firsts with hugh, and there's likely no other instructors who is worthy of as high a recommendation as Hugh. I don't have parents, but Hugh has become the best driving dad ever. I'll miss him..well untill i book him for motorway lessons. Thank you Hugh. You are the best. ❤️

Fantastic experience: amazing instructor and an even better guy, looks scary, is actually a massive softy with a big heart. I found learning to drive really challenging, and had loads of moments where i thought i would never pass because how much i struggled to concentrate because of my ADHD. He had the patience of a saint because i was always yapping, but Hugh never gave up on me and always encouraged me.I ended up passing first time.

Fantastic experience: After several unproductive lessons with a different instructor, I started taking lessons with Hugh at the start of the year. Hugh helped me get over issues with stalling pretty much immediately and got me doing way more in the first hour than my previous instructor had done in 12! He has a great way of keeping you so occupied in the lesson you won't have time to overthink or get too anxious about things. Hugh is an excellent instructor, and helps you practice all the tricky stuff and areas that might catch you out before your test. Plus, he always has good banter and tunes on. I've passed now and would happily recommend him to anyone. Thanks Hugh :)

Fantastic experience: Hugh is an excellent driving instructor and I would highly recommend him to anyone! He is a lovely person, very kind and friendly. He also has a great approach to teaching, he explains things thoroughly and makes sure you can drive perfectly and to a high standard before your test. He is also very patient and deals well with nervous drivers and helped me stay calm when learning to drive. He was so encouraging and made me feel more confident in driving!

Fantastic experience: If you are looking to just pass your driving test by the skin of your teeth and you don't care as much about how good a driver you are so long as you pass, then there are plenty of instructors out there who can help. If you want to be the best driver you can be every time you are behind the wheel and if you want to be better than 'test standard' on test day, then Hugh is absolutely the instructor for you. The experience of being nervous as a learner driver is universal. And its probably cliche to say I could not imagine myself driving when I started my lessons because I was so anxious about being behind the wheel. But Hugh through his perseverance, patience, good humour and honest and fair teaching got me to a place where I felt I could drive. Hugh's calmness and patience creates a learning environment where any mistakes you make are not negatives; they are learning points that challenge you to do better. Hugh genuinely wants you to be a good and safe driver which in turn motivates you to learn and to keep improving. Learning how to drive in itself is the easy part, its overcoming the mental blockages which takes work. Hugh is fantastic at coaching you into a head space where you can feel like a competent and safe driver. You can always tell when someone is a master at their craft, and Hugh is an exceptional instructor and an exceptional person. I am delighted to have passed my driving test and feel I can drive with confidence. However, a downside of passing is I won't get to go on Tuesday drives with Hugh anymore as I genuinely enjoyed his company and approach to teaching.
