Negative experience: Really do not recommend, found it really hard to be taught by Peter as his patience isn’t good and just prefers to shout. Again about his patience, I fell sick the morning we had a lesson so had to cancel. He then asked me to pay for that lesson as he required 24 hours but never told me this else I would’ve tried to do the lesson. For that he told me we are finished and wouldn’t reply to me. For paying 75 every lesson you would hope to actually learn more but I didn’t find this. Really disappointed with all this, try elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I just passed my practical driving test on my first attempt. Peter also taught two of my other siblings and got them past there tests. I have found him to be a good teacher, on my journey to pass my driving test. Going to miss having my driving lessons with him. Highly recommend him.

Negative experience: He is inpatient and shout loudly when you make any mistake, so avoid him

Fantastic experience: Pete got me through my driving test when i thought id never pass, he is a brilliant instructor. He is really encouraging and makes you believe in yourself. I highly recommend him

Negative experience: I wouldn’t even give this man 1 ⭐️ - He’s dreadful, going by the name of ‘Pervy Pete’ amongst the local community. He has made my relative incredibly anxious and upset, whereby the lessons have stopped. Reported to have been making comments regarding their image (negatively), asking personal questions in which replied “That’s embarrassing” and looking at his phone whilst ‘teaching’ to which a wrong turning was made and scolded my relative for doing so. There are a lot of positive comments here but beware of this man. Don’t waste your time nor money.

Fantastic experience: Peter is my third driving instructor I had two before him and they were very unreliable and very rude. Peter is fantastic, he really has gave me confidence to feel comfortable whilst driving… he is very honest and explains things so much better… honestly is a great man! Helps me with lots of things! Anyone would be lucky to drive with him x

Fantastic experience: 1st Driving Lesson in 7 years today, I was nervous to start and still a little considering. But Pete got me through it, managed to drive from barnstaple through Instow and back with no problems, he boosted my confidence within 20 mins and helped get me on the road asap no time wasted. Will update further down the line.

Fantastic experience: I have just passed my theory and practical driving test first time with Peter. He gave me lots of confidence on the road and taught me quickly. He was happy to go over anything I was unsure about and always asked my personal opinion on my lessons after. He took feedback and then ensured each lesson was best suited for me. He made each lesson comfortable and I enjoyed learning with him.

Fantastic experience: Peter began instructing me before I had access to my own car, from the offset his lessons were straight to the point. Wasting no time he brought me up to speed quickly yet safely despite me not massively knowing the local area. Always good for a laugh and professional, he is undoubtedly the reason I saw a strong pass in both my theory and practical tests as well as becoming far more comfortable behind the wheel.

Negative experience: Peter is an angry, bitter person. Doesn’t want to teach you how to drive, quote from him “ I teach as a means to an end”. He has no interest in teaching. He shouts at you if you make any mistakes and does not like being asked questions. He clearly confuses providing a service aka teaching, with being a servant. As he told me “I don’t like being treated like a servant” after he spoke poorly of one of his students. He also gave me the full name of another student and said she was a “bi*t*h”. No professionalism. He cut my lesson short and still expected me to pay the full amount. Do not be confused by his previous references, maybe he once did teach well but he certainly does not now. He also aggressively grabbed the steering wheel and gear stick and in doing so scratched and hurt my hand. Didn’t apologize or care that he hurt and scared me. After talking to another local instructor it is clear that Peter has a reputation for shouting, words got around, shame I didn’t hear in time.

Fantastic experience: It’s fair to say I never thought I’d pass my driving test as I was quite a nervous driver. But the patience and great way in which Peter approaches the teaching of it made me feel at ease very quickly and I have now passed. It was a long process but Peter never lost patience and in the end became more of a friend to me than anything else. Just simply a great instructor is all I can say!

Fantastic experience: Pete was very helpful and quick to set up my first ever driving lesson. He is excellent, informative and patient instructor. Pete has explained all the features of the car, in only a few lessons so far I have managed to drive from Barnstaple to Appledore, drive on the link road and around the town centre. I cannot believe the progress I have made already and this is all thanks to Pete.
