Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend Ray highly enough, both of my children have now passed with him. 5 stars from all of us!

Fantastic experience: Ray is an incredibly patient driving instructor, solely focused on ensuring you don’t drive to pass but drive safely. Everytime when in the car, I always felt comfortable to address concerns or areas I was struggling with and he would clearly explain how to improve and what I could have done better in certain situations. One thing that was particularly helpful was the designed routes that are specifically available to students, covering areas that could potentially come up on your driving test and making sure you are familiar with the roads and junctions. I have no complaints about my learning to drive experience with Ray. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Ray is such a lovely instructor. He is very kind and patient. When you do something wrong he takes him time to explain what you did and how you could do it different next time. He truly is a lovely guy and I passed second time!!:))

Fantastic experience: Ray was a very patient and clear teacher. I never felt unsafe and when I felt unsure or confused we carefully practiced whatever I was not confident with until I was ready for my test (which was a breeze). 10/10

Negative experience: I was initially reluctant to write this review as I did not want to damage his reputation as a driving instructor. However, my experience with him has been so poor that I feel like I have no choice but to write this review, and to urge others to not use him. The ironic thing is that he wanted me to write a review after I had passed my driving test, so here it is. I want to start off by saying that Ray is a proud person with unrealistically high expectations for his students. This was clearly made apparent when he had the expectation of me passing my driving test first time round. This was in spite of the fact that I repeatedly told him that I did not feel test ready, because at that point I had not passed a single mock test, I was still asking questions about how to navigate certain manoeuvres, and my observations were not quite at the standard that the examiner expects them to be at. Ray ignored these concerns because he thought he knew better, saying things like ‘don’t worry about it’ and ‘I know when students are test ready, not you’. During the exam, the examiner took me on a completely unfamiliar route, despite Ray saying that he knew all of the test routes and that we would practice them, which made me feel even more unprepared. Unsurprisingly, I failed the test the first time round because my observations were not at the standard the examiner expected them to be at. Whilst the result was disappointing, I did not have the expectation of passing first time round because of the concerns listed above, and the fact that the majority of students don’t pass the test. The reason why I give Ray one star is because of his attitude and behaviour after I had completed my first driving test. He would constantly blame me for failing the test, regularly making condescending and mocking remarks about my performance. When I would make mistakes in subsequent lessons, he would either roll his eyes, laugh at me, or make condescending remarks (or a combination of all three). He would often try to make me look stupid, saying things like ‘you know you look really bored sitting in traffic. You do realise that you’re going to be spending a lot of time sitting in traffic’. Yes Ray, I do know what traffic is, I have been driving for the better part of a year. LOL. The ironic thing is that he looked bored giving me driving lessons after my first test. Maybe you should get some perspective before criticising others. For the amount of money that Ray charged me, the expectations I had for good quality driving lessons and good customer service were not met, and I think Ray should seriously consider his approach to teaching because I was left feeling disappointed. Therefore, I cannot recommend him to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Ray is an absolute legend, I've never been behind the wheel before but with the help from ray I've passed my practical and theory test 1st time. I enjoyed every lesson I had with Ray as he is very knowledgeable and experienced in what he does and explains driving situations easily so you understand what to do. Now my son is currently having his lessons with Ray so we're really confident he will do well on his test day which is just 2 months away. Thanks again Ray

Fantastic experience: I recently finished doing a few refresher lessons with Ray after not driving for nearly 6 years. He was really calm and patient throughout everything. Ray was also very flexible with what I wanted to refresh on and tailored each lesson to suit that. I would definitely recommend Ray/Eton Driving School to anyone who was learning to drive for the first time or wanting to refresh!
