Ants Driving

Fantastic experience: Excellent driving instructor! It took me a few instructors before I found the right one because I was extremely nervous about driving. I knew that I had found the right one with Ant. He is kind, patient and his teaching is of the highest standard. I passed! I can’t thank or recommend him enough!

Fantastic experience: Ant is a fantastic teacher, patient, punctual, and a clear communicator. He understands that not everyone learns the same way. He provided me with handouts to assist in my learning of the highway code. I passed in November last year with only 3 faults. I'm happy and feel safe on the road. I also would recommend the motorway lesson option to anyone considering it once you've passed your test as it helps give you that extra reassurance with a driving instructor present. I would recommend Ant to anyone looking to learn to drive no matter your age.

Positive experience: My daughter had lessons with Ant and found him to be extremely patient and calm. His advice was always constructive. She was a fairly nervous driver and he guided her through the whole learning experience very well - she passed first time!

Fantastic experience: I am extremely happy with Ant and his teaching methods. I was not in a rush with my license and wanted to be truly ready before my exam, so I took many lessons which did payed off full time. I've passed my exam first try! I feel safely behind a wheel and I know I can drive on my own without any issues. If you wish to learn not only how to drive a car but also be safe and confident road user, I would highly recommend Ants Driving School, he will prepare you for any road situation, answer any questions and will make sure you go to your exam confident and ready to pass.

Fantastic experience: I've had a fantastic experience learning with Ant from start to finish. He's calm, patient, highly knowledgeable, and excellent company. All of my lessons were a joy and I feel thoroughly prepared for solo driving. Passed earlier today with 1 minor and will be booking Pass Plus with him as soon as possible. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Happy to say with Ants help I passed my driving test the first time. I am an older driver and had no car to practice in separately, Ant has good patience and knowledge and answered the very many questions I had.

Negative experience: My partner had done 18 hours worth of lessons with Ant before problems began to arise. During one lesson Ant had made her stop at a corner shop so he could go in a buy sweets. During her last lesson he told her she would not pass her test unless she received hypnotherapy and even gave her a card for a hypnotherapist! Her confidence in driving plummeted. Thankfully after a month of self doubt she quit lessons with him and learnt to drive with her mother, ended up doing her test in her own car and passed first time with only 4 minors. Completely agree with the other 1 star review on all points. If Ant at any point makes you doubt yourself, leave.

Fantastic experience: 100% recommend ant after having 2 other instructors one of which destroyed my confidence in driving ant took me on when he did my driving was a complete mess but he guided me patiently and helped me build the confidence and skills i needed to pass and be a good driver he has and is brilliant all the way through and i passed today a confident safe driver thanks to him :)

Fantastic experience: I'm happy to say that I passed first time with Ants driving school after a 17 year break in learning to drive. He is an absolute professional with a very sharp eye for detail. I found him to be very understanding and patient to my particular learning level. The education that I received was way beyond the test standard! Very reasonable pricing for lessons in manual and auto cars and always arrives on time, every time. I will definitely be recommending him to friends and family in the future.

Fantastic experience: Ant taught both me and my sister how to drive and we both passed first time. He has lots of experience and is a very good teacher who will get you driving safety and comfortably at the right pace for you. I never had a problem with lessons or booking regular lessons which fit my schedule and passed first time with only 4 faults due to his exemplary instruction. I felt extremely safe on the road under his guidance and by the end of my lessons with him I also felt like I was confident enough to drive without having to rely on him to tell me what to do. I highly recommend Ant for driving lessons, especially if you are not confident in a car like I was when I first started to drive.

Fantastic experience: Passed my test first time with only 2 faults thanks to Ant. He is patient, proffesional and really gets the best out of you as a new driver. I was a very nervous driver when I started, but being with Ant really built up my confidence. I will be recommending him to any new drivers.

Negative experience: I thought Ant was very dishonest and unprofessional. He wanted me to do 40+ hours of driving with him (in an automatic car!) even though I have already been driving in the U.S. for 12 years (in an automatic car). I told him that I disagreed with his claim, and that I did not think that I would need that many hours of driving. All I wanted were a a few lessons that would help me pass the notoriously picky UK driving exam. He then proceeded to rant about how I never listened to him from our first lesson, and that I was repeating the same mistakes. It was very unprofessional, and it made me feel very uncomfortable being that close to him in the car while he was yelling at me. Perhaps I wasn't ready for the test, but that was why I was paying for lessons, to learn how to do proper mirror checks that would satisfy the driving examiner, etc. I also thought it was unprofessional how he did not listen to my needs: As an American, I could only drive in the UK for a year on my American license. So what I wanted was to eventually obtain a UK license. I didn't think that it would be that difficult. I mean, I know the UK driving exam is very difficult and picky, but it's not like I've never driven before. I've also driven in other countries before, all without any problems/accidents. I explained all this to Ant via email, and he wanted me to sign up for a couple hours with him and see where I'm at. Foolishly, I did that. What he should have suggested to me was to first pass the UK written exam, then start practicing in the car with him. He just wanted to make a quick buck. You see, signing up for the written examination takes time; I had to wait a couple of months. And I wasn't even sure that I would pass. And all this time, Ant wanted me to drive every week with him for a couple of hours. That was NOT what I wanted. I had wanted an intense week of driving with him prior to my practical exam date. He booked the exam date months ahead, and wanted me to do 40+ hours with him. I just thought that was ridiculous. Just so you know, Ant does not do intensive courses. He treated me like I was a beginner driver, and honestly, we didn't even drive much. We went to the Tesco's parking lot and sat there most of the time. He had me take photos of the car when it was perfectly parked in the bay, which I thought was a waste of time. I know what a perfectly parked car looks like. What I wanted was to practice parking. One of the strangest things about Ant was his inability to remember our scheduled driving lessons. I would call him to keep him updated on my written test date, and to establish a practical driving test date, and during this phone call, he had me repeat all the future dates and times we had scheduled for driving together. He didn't write any of it down before! He also told me that he booked a practical test date, when in fact he did not! How bizarre. He later booked another one, a week later after the original, but it all seemed so suspicious to me. I am a very organized adult, so he was lucky that I kept track of our driving practices and when he booked the driving exam. But imagine if he was dealing with some 17 year old who wasn't that responsible! Ant did sound a bit sleepy on the phone, so I don't know if there is something going on that I am not aware of. Anyway, I was very dissatisfied with the two driving lessons that I had with Ant. I was also very dissatisfied with him not writing down our future lesson dates/times. His attitude was poor, he was very sharp, made me feel very small and not good enough. He was very touchy about payments and money, and it was obvious that he had some difficulties with people paying him in the past. I ended my lessons abruptly with him after his rant in the car, and I signed up for an intensive driving course in Bury St. Edmunds. I learned to drive a manual in a week, took my driving exam, and passed the first time. Don't let anyone underestimate you. You deserve a driving instructor who will help you, guide you, make you feel good about yourself. Find someone other than Ant.
