Learn With Amanda Automatic Driving Instructor

Fantastic experience: My son has high anxiety and didn’t want to learn to drive. I contacted Amanda who came to meet us both this really put us both at ease. He nervously had his first lesson today came home smiling and feeling very pleased with himself. I am so pleased I contacted Amanda. I would highly recommend Amanda. UPDATE since this review Harvey has passed his driving test 1st time! I can’t thank Amanda enough for her patience, support for me & Harvey and for generally being a lovely kind honest person. Harvey never dreamt he would be able to drive but he is and we couldn’t have wanted a better instructor.

Fantastic experience: Edit on 24.01.2025 - I booked in for my driving test for 2 weeks prior to this date but unfortunately lost my licence the day before. I found a cancellation slot that Amanda was able to accommodate me with and sat my test, I’m absolutely ecstatic to have passed first time with only 3 minors! Amanda spent some time with me before the test talking through everything and helping me with anything I was unsure or nervous of so that I went into test confident and ready. I am so happy to have found you Amanda and I am so grateful for all your wisdom, patience and experience. Thank you for always taking time to talk things through with me and helping me learn in a way that made sense for me. I had my first driving lesson with Amanda on 02.05.2024 and as someone who’s had a bad experience in the past that put me off getting behind the wheel again, I’m so glad I found Amanda. She really put me at ease, spoke through everything really clearly and answered any questions I had. She gave great advice on things I found difficult like how much space to leave when passing a car and where to position a car on the road. Really excited to continue my lessons with her and to see my confidence grow! Thank you Amanda for being so kind and understanding of my anxiety.

Fantastic experience: I had my first driving lesson with Amanda last friday. She’s lovable and an amazing teacher. I highly recommend her. Edit With Amanda’s guidance, I passed first time. She’s a wonderful and brilliant instructor. I cannot recommend her enough!.

Negative experience: Avoid if you're disabled. Here's the story: Amanda refused to teach me 15 days before my test because apparently I'm too autistic. This is not a bad review, I'm just telling you what happened. I'm 22, female. Amanda taught me for over a year, then I went to test and failed with 2 majors, but all in all my driving is good and my family often comments on how comfortable they are being in the car with me, and how confident and relaxed I am as a driver. I booked another test but, 15 days before, Amanda made me pull the car over mid lesson and told me I'm not ready to go to test (even though she said I was ready before) and that she is refusing to take me to it. I asked why and she said I'm too autistic for her to teach anymore. She said she would refer me to a specialist who works with severely autistic people. Which confused me because I am not severely autistic. At school I was an A student, I am a good driver, I had been ready to go to test before, so what changed? I waited a for a week, but didn't hear anything from this autism expert instructor. So I moved my test back, and after 2 weeks asked Amanda for his number. She refused to give it to me. I asked 3 times over 5 days for his contact info and go nothing. On day 6 she finally said he "doesn't want his contact information given out". I kept asking, because I NEED an instructor to go to test, and I think it's a bit off being ditched by my instructor without her fixing me a replacement. She finally said he is on paternity leave so doesn't want his info given out. He will be back in July. That's 4 months. I had a test coming up in 2 weeks. I need to drive to earn money to feed myself; I could not wait for 4 weeks. Desperately, I called every instructor in Norwich trying to get someone to take me to test, or even give me a lesson. They all said no, some rather rudely. They didn't like that someone had already taught me, it was like I was spoiled goods. My family has managed to scrounge together enough money to insure me on my mum's SUV Jeep Cherokee so I can take my test in that. But it's an absolutely huge vehicle, and difficult to drive, especially as I'm---according to amanda---severely autistic. Paying for driving lessons has been stressful, and I'm in therapy for the circumstances in my personal life. I really didn't need this whole ordeal. Edit, almost 6 months later: I passed my driving test today with only one minor (not parallel parking close enough to the curb) and no instructor. My parking is usually perfect but I had to save up and buy a whole new car to do my test as my mum's jeep wasn't working for me. I did the test in a fiat panda I had only owned for 7 days. No instructor would take me after Amanda ditched me, and the one she said she put me in touch with never contacted me. I talked to an instructor whilst waiting for my test and he said instructors often ditch disabled students because they don't want all their failed tests making their pass rate go down. I spoke to another student who said her instructor did the same thing because she's autistic, and it happened to my friend who has ADHD. These weren't with Amanda but same situation, seems common with driving instructors to ditch people they see as a lost cause so we don't make them look bad. To everyone who made it this far: find an instruction that specialises in your condition, don't waste your time here. And don't give up! People may say you won't pass but they're wrong. I did it and I have autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, anxiety and a whole bunch of depressive stuff. You can absolutely do it and don't let the ableist instructors out there tell you differently.

Fantastic experience: Amanda is absolutely the best driving instructor in the world! I was really struggling to adapt to UK driving rules after driving in another country, but she made it so much easier. Her patience, guidance, and encouragement have been incredible. Plus, Amanda is so warm and fun—she made every lesson enjoyable. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher!!

Fantastic experience: I'm late to learn to drive in my 40s, I had alot of resistance as I felt overwhelmed by the idea of learning to drive, but knew I wanted to overcome the fear, get my licence to have some independence and feel empowered. Amanda has been a blessing, she treated me as an individual understanding my needs and how I learn, particularly as someone with dyslexia. I always feel encouraged and supported and able to go at a pace that suits me. Amanda creates a positive and empthetic environment, I feel lucky that I found her as my instructor!

Fantastic experience: I don't think words can describe how amazing Amanda is and her style of teaching is just brilliant she really was so supportive and had faith in me she is so patient, kind and a brilliant teacher. I would recommend her service to anyone. I passed today with flying colours and zero faults. Am over the moon

Today was my first lesson and I was very anxious and excited about it , however Amanda’s teaching skills helped reduce my anxiety a lot and helped with my nerves, in my first lesson. She is very patient and explains everything calmly, making sure the other person understands it completely. I didn’t find driving easy but Amanda was great with her expertise, patience and genuine care for her students, she stands out as an outstanding driving instructor. I wholeheartedly recommend Amanda to anyone seeking driving lessons, especially those with nervousness.

Fantastic experience: Amanda is fantastic, she completely put me at ease after years of dreading learning to drive. She is great at going at your pace and reassuring all the while. I have gone from a nervous wreck not wanting to get behind the wheel, to a confident driver who just passed with zero faults! I never would have thought that possible 6 months ago. Fantastic experience: Learning with Amanda was the best thing I chose to do and I passed first time. We laughed, saw some hilarious things, and she taught me everything. She’s patient and understood how to teach me as soon as I said I had adhd. She coped with me constantly getting distracted by everything.

Fantastic experience: Amanda was a great instructor, she’s very patient and calm throughout the lessons and explained everything clearly. I just took 3 lessons with her and she managed to point out my mistakes and we worked together to prepare for my test. Amanda managed to fit me in for the lessons on a very short notice. Honestly couldn’t have passed the test without her help. She helped me pass my driving test in first attempt and with just 3 lessons. You don’t need a month of practice, you just need the perfect instructor to teach you how to focus on your weak points. Highly recommended ☺️

Fantastic experience: Amanda is a wonderful warm person and an even brilliant instructor. Her radiant smile put me at ease and she tailored the lessons to suit my needs. I was very anxious about driving and put it off for years but this lovely lady has changed my life for the better!! Fantastic experience: Amanda is an amazing person. She’s everything you want from your instructor! Driving is a skill and it’s all subjective. We all are different and that’s what she understands as an instructor. She will make the plan that suits you and your driving style. I’ve learned so much within a short amount of time with her. She’ll push you do to your best but will be patient with you. She’s a kind soul always with a smile on her face and positive attitude. All credit for passing my test goes to her.
