Driving Skills Academy - John Phillipson

Fantastic experience: I have been an extremely anxious passenger most of my life and put off learning to drive until I was 26. I started working with Will at Latimer Driver Training and he has tirelessly worked with me to ensure I was confident and ready for my test. He was patient with me, explained each process simply but also took the time to understand how my brain and anxiety were processing everything. I passed my practical driving test first time but more importantly, I feel I am a more confident driver now that I am out by myself. A huge thank you to Will for your guidance and most importantly your patience with me. It was a long road (no pun intended) but I couldn't have achieved this milestone without you - Beth

Fantastic experience: Took lessons with Will and he was absolutely amazing he’s a great teacher with an amazing amount of patience. i passed 4 days ago with one driving fault. i couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. (he always has different flavours of gum to, it helps with the nerves)

Fantastic experience: I recently had additional Part 3 training with John, and I honestly can’t recommend him enough. His knowledge, experience, and ability to explain everything clearly made a huge difference to my understanding and confidence. He’s patient, supportive, and knows exactly how to tailor the training to what you need to improve. Every session felt professional but also really encouraging. If you’re serious about passing and becoming the best instructor you can be, John is the person to go to!

Fantastic experience: John did a wonderful job at teaching and catering to my special needs. He's patient and organised, and ensures confidence in all aspects of driving. His course is incredibly structured, which is great as you can clearly revisit your previous learning and see what is coming up next. He's happy to try different strategies until you find things that work for you, which makes him great at finding different teaching styles that match how you best learn. I passed first time with three minors and absolutely recommend him!!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely wonderful people helped me loads with my confidence in driving and getting me to the level where I could pass my test.

Fantastic experience: I met John after having over a year of lessons with another instructor and majorly failed my driving test. My confidence was on the floor, I had poor driving habits. He adapted to my learning style and learning difficulties (dyslexia adhd and also anxiety). He helped me build up confidence and enjoy driving again. I found myself excited for my lesson, where with my old instructor, I’d dread them. He has a structured plan with an app which I really liked so I always knew what I was doing, with a reflective log so we are able to look back and revisit on things I had written. He took time to find strategy’s on things I found difficult. He was incredibly supportive and professional and always so positive (even when I messed up). I’m now a strong and confident driver, I passed my test and excited for the new found freedom!

Fantastic experience: I recently passed with John and I couldn’t of done it without his help to prepare me for the test,I felt so relaxed learning with John, and his ways of teaching are brilliant, his a great instructor and I recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: i recently did a mock test with John, and depsite being incredibly nervous he made the entire experience incredibly welcoming and i learnt so much during the 2 hours. very shortly afterwards i received a full written up report of my driving and so much feedback to prepare me for the test, all which contained so much detail and advice. john himself was so lovely, kind and super patient during the first 20 minutes whilst i got used to his car. i’m a really nervous driver but he was able to give me plenty of useful websites including free logins to utilise which have been so helpful! i would really recommend john to anybody who is looking for a mock test, or even just as an instructor. :)

John was understanding of all attendees needs, thorough and knowledgeable in all aspects of the course and his varied coaching techniques ensured that the course content was delivered in a varied and interesting way.
