Lorraine's Driving School

Fantastic experience: After a disastrous few lessons with another instructor who was not patient and very condescending I contacted Lorraine's Driving School. Lorraine and Richard are both great driving instructors and are extremely patient. They inspired me to confidently pass my test which I had been trying to do for over 20 years. Thank you Lorraine and Richard so much ❤️

Negative experience: Awful always showed up late to my lessons and sometimes wouldn’t even show up without even a message don’t waste ur time

Negative experience: i paid for a block of lessons, and she didn’t show up for 4 of them and hasn’t answered any of my calls nor has returned the money i’m owed either. terrible communication and waste of money tbh, get a proper instructor rather than an unorganised teacher.

Negative experience: Lorraine seems like a good driving instructor and she gave some refresher lessons to my mum which were fine. A word of caution if Richard ever offers to fix your car or sell it, just say no. He did a terrible job, charged me for things that were never completed, was dishonest and then refused to take my calls. For your own sake do not trust this guy.

Fantastic experience: Lorraine is an excellent Driving instructor, I would highly recommend her to anyone. I was with another driving instructor earlier and had to stop because I just thought it wasn’t helping me or challenging me. I hadn’t done any lessons for a year .I was very nervous and unsure about driving, but after a few lessons with Lorraine I felt a lot more confident behind the wheel. She is very reliable and always calm. Richard is also an amazing instructor. He helped me with the mock test on my test day. They are a wonderful team and lovely people . So a big, big thank you to Lorraine and Richard. I passed my test in the first go. I couldn't have done it without them. So if you need an instructor then look no further, they are definitely the place to go!

Negative experience: Don't learn with Lorraine's Driving School if you want to pass... Communication and organisation on Lorraine's behalf is very disappointing – she manages all lesson bookings and I would often be left for days with no answer, wondering if I had lessons booked in or not. I found myself chasing on several occasions only to be told that slots had been filled. There was no structure to booking lessons which I found incredibly frustrating. I had most of my lessons with Richard who is a great instructor – very trusting and confidence building after my bad experience with a previous instructor – however he is completely and utterly let down by Lorraine’s communication, or lack thereof. After being encouraged by Richard to book my test, I then had my next lesson with him cancelled an hour before it because of being 'double booked' and then had two weeks without any reply from Lorraine – despite me confirming that my test was booked and this was not good enough! Just after I booked my test, I was given a number to change the location/ date/ time of it just in case we found that I was ready for my test earlier or if I wanted to push it back. It would be £30 to change it. I almost used this number to change my test before I found out from a new instructor that you can in fact change your location/ date/ time up to 6 times for free on the DVSA website. It all seems a bit odd to me and perhaps I have avoided disappointment on my test day. I also found out serious basic skills and lessons that were completely missed out in my lessons which my new instructor is now having to give to me. Whilst I can drive a car, we are having to go back to square 1 to teach me these essential skills which were missed out. Finally, on several occasions my lesson got cancelled just before it was booked - once 5 minutes before. On another occasion I was left waiting at Arnos Grove only to be told they were out of town. I have now given up trying to get more lessons and moved elsewhere as my test is in 5 weeks. Luckily I managed to get 9 out of the 10 lessons I paid for in a block so I am only owed one, but to actually make it to my test with regular lessons is worth more than getting the money back for this one lesson. Overall I am super disappointed to have to leave this review as I can't thank Richard enough for building up my confidence, but as I say he is let down by Lorraine and I am tired of chasing my tail. It shouldn't be this difficult.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Richard as a instructor! I just passed my driving test FIRST time with only 5 lessons. Very friendly, patient, well-experienced. They are also very reliable, never late to lessons, very organised.

Fantastic experience: I want to say thank you to Richard , he is professional he teached me safe driving. he helped me build my confidence every lesson because I lost it when I was learning before ( 2 instructors), he make sure that I could deal with all difficult aspects of driving and understand each mistake I did. Negative experience: Had 30 lessons with them and now starting all over again because she didn’t teach properly. Also failed with couple serious mistakes. Driving basics never taught properly and also most of the time late for lessons. Waste of time and money. I would use someone professional.

Fantastic experience: Want to say a massive thank you to both Lorraine and Richard! I wouldn’t go elsewhere for driving lessons or recommended anyone else. They filled me confidence and helped me pass my test in no time. I believe they also offer lessons for those with learning disabilities and personally they were really considerate and understanding of my anxiety. Such lovely people as well. Thank you!!!

Fantastic experience: Lorraine was a great driving instructor, turned up to all my lessons or sent her husband instead which was very convenient then cancelling the lesson. She is very patient and encourages you to drive well tried very hard to teach me how to drive. Thank you Lorraine

Fantastic experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I would highly recommend Richard as a instructor!!!! Pass first time with the same examiner that failed me before in Barnet centre, then I had last minute book test, meet Richard one day before, he showed me how the car worked, gave me some nice tips went with me through the test, give me a lot of confidence..just amazing drive test will never forget that white Audi A3 s line !! If you are looking for Pass first time you now definitely know where to go !!✅

Fantastic experience: Today I have just passed my test... 1st time!!! I previously had 2 different instructors with 'MiDrive', the first didn't even tell me I had to get my theory test out of the way first, when he told me I had 2 hours left from 20 I didn't feel at all ready (a nice guy but I feel I wasted a lot of time/money). So I asked to go forward with a different one... he ended up being rude to my neighbour when she asked him not to teach on their private property (very embarrassing), he also made me feel unsure of most of my decisions, (he remarked that it was like I had a twin who turned up to some of the lessons, as some were good and others not) it felt like a lottery as to if what I did was right or wrong, it just ended up be unnecessarily stressful and I dreaded each and every lesson! So I asked on Nextdoor.co.uk for a recommendation in my neighbourhood! = Lorraine's Driving School And today I've passed my test first time with only 5 minor faults out of a possible 15. Lorraine has made me feel confident and able, and completely put my mind at ease. Also having Richard swap with her for some of the driving time was brilliant, to get a slightly different angle and mock test feel. I felt totally confident and ready before my test and would Highly recommend them. It's also it's true about their cars, they are up-to-date with a good amount of power so a pleasure to drive. Thank you very much Lorraine and Richard I have only had a POSITIVE experience with you :)

Fantastic experience: Thanks to Lorraine and her partner Richard, I passed my test on the first try! They are both patient, supportive and very knowledgeable. After seeing me drive for a short time they knew exactly what I needed to work on to pass the test. They tailored my lessons to meet my needs and offered gentle feedback. Lorraine and Richard knew the test area well so they could take me on specific roads that I might encounter on the test. They kept me calm on my test day despite rain and traffic! I had a bad experience with a previous instructor and am so glad that I found them. Thank you Lorraine and Richard!

Negative experience: totally disgusted in this company!! They have completely disappeared and we have been unable to get any response to our text, calls, emails! My daughter has a test booked for this Tuesday and will have to cancel as we haven’t been able to make contact with them. Since starting with them it has been a roller coaster as to whether they will turn up cancel last minute or just completely disappear!! Do not use them!!! Keep holding your money and find a reliable driving school!

Negative experience: ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING! Went with this company because my boyfriend went with them with no problems. I booked a lesson, they didn’t show up! I called them my boyfriend called them and they ignored us! Booked another lesson today and again they didn’t show up! Wouldn’t bother wasting your time, energy or money on them!

Fantastic experience: If you want to learn to drive then you’ve come to the right place. Very friendly instructors who go out of their way to get you to PASS your test. I highly recommend. 5 star service.

Fantastic experience: If you want to pass first time like I did this is the place to go! They have the best cars, I was learning in a 2017 Convertible Audi A4, you will never see a different company with cars like theirs. Richard was my instructor and he is a top lad, very straightforward and knows what hes doing. Go with them you wont regret it:)
