Perranporth Driving Centre: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Took my son today for his 13th birthday, he absolutely loved it and Gary (his instructor) was lovely! Alex has autism which I forgot to mention probably because he is so talkative! I'm sure he chewed Gary's ears off, Alex was abit worried at first, but he quickly got into the swing of things! He's so chuffed with himself , absolutely amazing! We will definitely be back! Thankyou Gary!!
Fantastic experience: Went for a CBT, use your own or use theirs, the instructor on my day was comical and serious, mentioned lots of info useful for being on a motorbike, using protective equipment and good insight to helmets and their overall differences in safety and build quality. Thanks for the smooth training!
Fantastic experience: An amazing experience for under 17s wanting to drive. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The driving instructor put the girls at ease so they could really enjoy there time driving. I can highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: A great first taster lesson for my daughter to gain confidence with real road situations
Fantastic experience: My 13 year old had the best time! Will definitely be going back and John was brilliant!
Fantastic experience: Really excellent tuition. Great introduction to driving and lots of fun too. Lots of manoeuvres and obstacles very impressive
Fantastic experience: Great place to take your kids to get a feel for the roadways
Fantastic experience: We took our 15 Yr old son, to try driving for the first time, he absolutely loved it. If we find he's keen, we may buy a membership, we'll done guys, seems professionally run
Positive experience: Well what a very different experience when all are in a better mood! I was there waiting to jump several weeks ago with one of our service user's. (We support adults with learning difficulties and mental health issues, we are called People and Gardens)One of his dreams was to jump out of a plane! We can now both tick it off our list!! I would say the communication could be improved upon, especially if you're due to jump in the afternoon and they still have the morning jumpers waiting to go. If you are planning on supporting someone with a learning difficulty please ensure you make it VERY clear, my manager both emailed and telephoned to discuss this in detail. When we arrived several weeks ago it was not a pleasant experience for either of us. The service user became very stressed as did his parents and i can only say that i felt like id been told off by the older woman running it. As far as they were concerned none of them had been made aware of the situation. This was obviously not true, we felt very let down by their behaviour and attitude, we were unable to jump that day due to the wind. Theres alot of waiting around, waiting for the weather. Based on the experience today it would have been 5* however due to our over all experience its going to have to be 3*. But, i will say the guys were lovely today and the views were amazing! My googles flew off, something that has never happened before ♀️ an amazing experience
Fantastic experience: Jason is an Absolutely fantastic examiner ! So clear with instructions and very calming . Thank you for putting me at ease for both MOD 1 & 2 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Positive experience: It would be nice if they’d invested some of the money into resurfacing the roads and refreshing the road markings. The staff at the cafe is lovely and understanding.
Fantastic experience: Great place for the youngsters to have a go at driving, and watch the planes taking off.
Fantastic experience: Amazing team, lovely staff great experience.
Negative experience: At £50 an hour, with lots of potholes, poorly marked out roads (at times) and with some instructors giving extremely confusing and unclear commands, i wouldnt ever recommend this place. A much better alternative is to take your own car to davidstow airfield (an abondoned ww2 airbase in the north east of Cornwall near camelford) where there's lots of space and its completely legal to let yourself or your child/grandchild drive around the disused runways and taxiways while using your own knowledge of driving help educate them on driving.
Negative experience: As Debbie has said previously it was worth it for £10 an hour on the roads which had plenty of pot holes but at £20 I feel that is too steep a price for what you are getting. I can't really understand the logic behind charging so much as I personally expect a lot less people to use it unless the roads have been tarmacked since I last went. I doubt it. Save your money and get proper lessons on a proper road.
Negative experience: Full of potholes, and very expensive £20 an hour! Worth it when we paid 10 but now at £20 might as well have private lessons and not damage your suspension! DON’T BOTHER!
Positive experience: An excellent facility for teenagers wanting to learn to drive without the dangers/stress of other road users. I'd have given it 5/5 if it wasn't for all the potholes. Plus it used to be £10 per hour and at £15 p/h it is still worth it (but only just because of quality of the road surface). If reduced back to £10 ph we'd go far more often!
Fantastic experience: Excellent service, really friendly, didn't know there was so much going on up here.
Positive experience: Took my 13 year old for an hours driving lesson and he loved it! The instructor was brilliant as well. The reason that I have only rated 3 stars is because of the state of the roads that you drive on. Pot holes everywhere and the amount of small stones and debris all over the track was quite surprising. I am glad that I was in the instructors car as I would not like to drive my car around this track in it's current state. The noise of the stones on the car was not a pretty sound. If the track was sorted out my star rating would be much higher.
