Chris powell driving school (Grade A instructor)

Negative experience: Just abit shocking really I had 30 hours with him and he never took me roads that exceed the 30 mph speed limit and I wasn't improving for a while. He would arrive late and finish early so realisticly your paying for 45 minutes driving instead of a full 60 minutes. Lack of professionalism but I hope he sees this and takes it as a wake up call, improves and becomes the best he can be.

Negative experience: Not for me at all. I actually got worse, instead of improving. Just couldn't vibe with this guys energy. Passed with next instructor who was chilled out and relaxed.

Positive experience: Passed with one minor recently, was very accommodating when fitting me in for lessons in short notice. Would say there was moments of friction due to comments between us but perhaps due to differing personalities.

Fantastic experience: Can't recommend Chris enough! The time and patience he has put into teaching me how to drive is something I'll treasure. Working a miracle! On time, value for money, friendly and all round a lovely driving journey from start to first time pass! Such a good experience with Chris.

Negative experience: Unprofessional driving instructor. With no notice cancelled all lessons for 3 months leaving us with no instructor. Had 12 lessons and then had to try and find another instructor. Didn’t care he had left his students. Only interested in himself and the money, when it suits. Avoid at all costs. Also lessons not very good, finally found an instructor who is a lot better. Don’t settle for someone who doesn’t care about you and will cancel without a thought for you!

Fantastic experience: Chris is a very good, professional driving instructor, my experience with him was great, he's very good with his instructions and methods that helped me massively with everything. With Chris I got a first time pass with only 1 minor( best feeling ever ) I couldn't thank him enough for his help. I highly recommend Chris to anyone who needs/wants to learn how to drive and wants that first time PASS!!!!

Fantastic experience: Smashed it with Chris. Had only 4 hours before I was due my test and passed with 1 minor. Major congrats on Chris, helped along with so much. A* for teaching how to park and drive in general. An absolute legend to drive with couldn’t thank him enough for the help and the pass. Fantastic experience: As a mid 30s new driver Chris tailored my lessons to my needs. Chris was extremely professional and took the time to ask me on areas I would like to re visit that I was slightly less confident with. Even in the middle of a pandemic Chris still managed to get me a pass 1st time round, could not thank Chris enough Highly recommended

Negative experience: Chris powell has a good fixed price for a 10 lesson block booking which was a reason why I chose him to be my instructor. He arrived late almost every time consisting of 6-10 minutes, although he did make up for lost time. The last lesson i was on i told him I was struggling with clutch control/biting point, to which he did help me with but then proceeded to tell me "you don't seem the type to try", he said this amongst other things. I was shocked that a driving instructor who's purpose is to teach me how to drive is stateing this.

Negative experience: Took me on a lesson and told me to pull over next to a girl. He proceeded to tell me 'Check her out' and 'my gosh if I was 20 years younger, she'd be in the back of this car'. I don't think it's a good idea to be getting on a level with all your students. Although it's a bit of banter, it can be a bit creepy coming from a guy looking like Chris. He seems to be a knowlegable instructor but I think the professional side is lacking. Fidgets around with his phone aswell while we are on lessons. a bit of passion and interest and this guy has the potential to be one of the best instructors but I guess the bills are getting him down, as he previously said to me. I do feel sorry for him. All in all... not bad I guess... but I will look for another instructor as I don't feel he focuses on my weaker points on driving. It seems to be a robotic programme instead of tailored to the learners need. Although his methods are not wrong, they could be much better.

Fantastic experience: Chris Powell is an amazing instructor he cares about what you need and gives you as many lessons as needed no more, the reviews on here are clearly not true at least not in my experience. He was very caring, always on time and tried to work around my work needs to fit me in even if it was inconvenient for him. He always paid full attention to my driving and the road when taking me out on my lessons and gave me confidence i needed to get through my lessons, I would 100% recommended him to all my friends and family.
