Fantastic experience: I did both my Mod1 and Mod2 here and what an amazing experience the instructor John was very calm, reassuring and puts you at ease (even when your nerves sky rocket) the corses are reasonably priced yet worth every penny. Thank you again John

Fantastic experience: After completing my CBT in Southampton, I was struggling to find somebody to complete my full license as nobody was getting back to me. However within no time at all after talking to John I began training and passed my MOD 1 and 2 within no time at all with no experience riding a motorcycle. I can’t recommend Thruxton Motorcycle Academy enough. I apologise for how long it’s taken to write this but wanted to say thanks again, John.

Fantastic experience: Did my direct access with John. Simple from start to finish! 2 weeks from CBT to a good level pass and now on my own bike! Even got my daughter doing her CBT here now! Would recommend.

Fantastic experience: Really good service, John at motorcycle Academy got me through everything first time and goes above and beyond to ensure that not only do you get the pass but you are confident and safe in your riding. Thanks John

Positive experience: Attended Motorcycle Academy took me from January to March to get my full bike licence from CBT to the MOD 1/2, all first time passes. I am very happy with how quickly I got my licence and the pricing was surprisingly affordable. It is very clear that John the owner is very experienced and has so much knowledge to give. He can be quite hard on you at times but it’s all preparation for the test which isn’t as difficult as I thought. I am glad I have taken the information and feel I have become a better rider for it. Only two negative, sometimes the dates set get rearranged last minute and on the odd occasion John came across patronising when I was asking questions. Overall fairly impressed with the school and recommend to others who wish to get their licence.

Fantastic experience: I've been riding motorcycles for years and decided to go from riding on a CBT certificate to getting my A2 license. Couldn't of had a better experience anywhere else, great way of teaching and great communication. Passed Mod1 and Mod2 with no faults during either test. Can't recommend enough, I'll be back to do my category A license soon enough!

Fantastic experience: Started with the CBT after never riding a bike before then moved onto the MOD1/2 training and bigger bikes, John allowed me extra time on the bike to gain experience which I wasn’t expected, he fully understood my needs to be able to gain my full license. Can’t recommend enough.

Fantastic experience: I hadn't ridden a motorcycle for over 30 years when I turned up at the Academy for CBT in April so was a little rusty to put it lightly! However, the instructors at Thruxton Academy- and particularly John- soon had me gaining confidence manoeuvring the bike around the cones, performing U-turns and emergency braking. A month later I took the Module 1 training on the MT-07 Yamaha and that was obviously a huge jump in bike performance from the 125's, requiring a much more skilled approach with the clutch and throttle control. The training area for Mod 1 is second to none and that day's training was probably the steepest learning curve for me, in terms of controlling the bike competently. That training day at Thruxton Academy had my confidence and skills boosted massively thanks to John's excellent instructing and experience, resulting in me passing first time at Swindon. 5 months later- due to work commitments- and I returned for Module 2. A quick re-cap and familiarisation on the 700cc bike and John and I were out on the road again. John riding behind, dropping pointers and advice in my earpiece, whilst riding around the local area, including Salisbury, was invaluable to me. 4 days later and I took the Mod 2 test. John's patience, guidance and constructive feedback improved my confidence and skills for the test, to the point that when the time came for my Mod 2 exam I was relaxed and confident, resulting in a first time pass. I cannot thank John enough for imparting his riding experience, tips and guidance (and patience!)- skills I will build on as I gain experience throughout my biking years. If you want a great value training experience to gain your motorcycle licence, look no further than Thruxton Academy. 5 Stars to John and his team.

Fantastic experience: After almost cancelling my CBT due to serve nerves I am so glad I went ahead and braved it! Julie was a fantastic instructor and genuinely a lovely human being! I went from being scared to excited within a few minutes of training. Throughout the day my confidence just grew majorly and it’s all thanks to the amazing training Julie gave me! Will definitely be back to do my full bike test when I’m ready!!

Fantastic experience: The academy has a big flat practice area with nothing to bump into, apart from the odd cone, they set up the area just as you will find it on the MOD1 test, this gave me loads of confidence for when I came to the test itself. John is a great instructor and a nice fella, he will push you to be the best rider you can be and not to just pass your test.I pasted my MOD1&2 both at the first time and I have come away as not just a full licence holder but a better rider. Cheers John you're a star.

Fantastic experience: In 2 days, John took me from 0 knowledge to knowing everything about mod 1 + mod 2. He teaches you a harder version of the tests, so they are very easy on the test day. Mod 1 especially. 10/10

Fantastic experience: A great experience from start to finish. Starting out with very little bike experience I was able to get through cbt, mod 1 and mod 2 first time round. Great coaching from all the staff. Professional and all round good guys. Thank you :)

Fantastic experience: Extremely friendly/professional and highly knowledgeable, John took me from zero experience to passing my CBT, MOD1 and MOD2 first time. He was incredibly dedicated to my success and I can't recommend him enough.

Fantastic experience: I attempted to pass my Mod 1 twice by myself with no success. A few hours at this school and they got me through first time. I've got my full license now and genuinely feel massively more competent and safe on the road than my CBT days.

Fantastic experience: I passed a CBT, Mod 1 + 2 with John. I had no previous experience with motorcycles before training so he has taught me everything I needed to know and more. He's a great instructor with all the kit you would need and is as flexible as possible. I recommend John to anybody. Thanks John.

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend motorcycle academy enough - John delivered a full motorbike training course over two weeks with just a week notice! He goes above and beyond what was expected compared to others in the area which couldn’t deliver (over 2 months later). Great training provided, high expectations but it meant the tests were a lot easier! Good bikes to learn on, easy to use with all the kit and information provided. I did a cbt, mod 1 & 2. throughout the course I was provided with a verbal run through of what is expected, literature to take home and learn along with instructions given in a professional and constructive way. Wasn’t pushy or inconsiderate, always attentive and understanding with a wealth of knowledge in how he taught which came across without a doubt. Highly recommend - I’m confident to whoever reads this and goes on a course with the academy will also write a good review!

I passed everything with no minors which is a testament to his teaching and coaching. Thank you so much john I loved my time training with you. And if anyone ever needs to get their licence done, then do it through john. He also offers military discount which is a fantastic bonus.

Fantastic experience: Did my Mod 1 a week ago with John and Mod 2 with yesterday. It was a real pleasure training with him. His knowledge and experience shown throughout the training. He knows how to approach each individual to bring out the best in to achieve the training goal.

Fantastic experience: I've recently completed the "zero to hero" DAS course with John, and I have nothing but good things to say about the whole experience. From day one John was nothing but professional and patient in his delivery. His wealth of experience is obvious to anyone under his tuition and he explains everything in a manner suited to all styles of learning. Furthermore when asked he was more than happy to offer advice on which kit to buy and the best places to get it. Overall I am so pleased that I chose to go through Motorcycle Academy for my training and would 100% recommend this company and John to anyone wishing to achieve their Bike Licence.

Negative experience: Had a mod1 hour booked, my first session with john, I've got my mod1 booked for the 6th July in Nottingham where I live, but I've been called away to work in amesbury for the next 2 weeks, so made a few calls and John said he'd fit me in. But on day 1 he cancelled on me via text as I was litteraly 5 mins from the venue, no wonder he wanted a cash on arrival payment, clearly didn't want to dedicate his time. Unfortunately it cost me wages as I had to finish work earlier than normal with no positive outcome. Totally unprofessional

Fantastic experience: Passed my CBT with John. Great guy, would definitely recommend.

SinglePlayerGaming 4 years ago

Negative experience: Total waste of time. Considering the CBT stands for compulsory basic TRAINING, i received no training at all, and infact never finished my CBT. Would not recommend if you don't want to spend your money and get nothing in return.

Sorry you feel that way why didn't you finish it?

Fantastic experience: Great experience with John and really recommend. I'd never had any training and bar a go on a small dirt bike as a kid hasn't touched a motorbike before. Now I've got my full license thanks to John. Got in touch on the free trial on a bike and John was really great in getting me up to speed on controls and basics. Enjoyed that and went for a cbt and then a direct access course (DAS) to get my full license being over 24. He even had loads of gear for you to use of you don't have your own, all wiped down and sanitised too. That was a few months ago and I've just passed my mod 2 with no faults after a mod 1 test with no faults too. John's instructing and 1:1 sessions were key to getting through, picking up on faults and how to correct them in lessons. If your thinking of learning, just do it. I put it off far too long but I'm really glad I did and glad I did it with John too - top bloke and instructor and an ace experience. That feeling of the first ride after you've passed is amazing!

Fantastic experience: I was going to write a long review about my experience with the motorcycle academy. However, having written it I realised it was just simpler to say it was a great experience and the tuition was fantastic. Managed to pass first time. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Thank you very much to John very good instructor. I had little experience on a motorbike but John makes you feel at ease when your learning. The trading area is massive so plenty of room to build your confidence before you hit the road . I did the direct access and past both first time with only one minor on each I would highly recommend John at motorcycle academy thanks again John

Fantastic experience: Well John is absolutely incredible, hard working and knows exactly what he's doing. I did everything from my CBT to my A2 final mod 2 test with him. I passed everything first time and wasn't there that long either. Sometimes i got 1 to 1 training for a full day which really helped. He won't put you through a test until he knows you'll pass which is good too. If anyone is looking to do any motorcycle training with this company I totally recommend it. I personally did my A2 and glad I did now. Thanks John!!

Fantastic experience: Thanks to John , for all his patience. I'm not the best pupil. He realized from the start exactly what I need to do to pass. Thorough, dedicated, consistent. Highly recommend using Motorcycle Academy. I passed !!!!!

Fantastic experience: I progressed from many years on a CBT to a first time pass on my mod 1, then a first time pass on my mod 2, within the space of a single week. Now I can ditch the L plates and stick the wife on the back. The expansive test area at Thruxton allowed for lots of freedom to practice. The combination of John's firmness and high standards got me up to a good level enabling me to pass both modules first time. This was a very tough but satisfying week. Thanks so much for your patience and guidance and for helping me become a more confident, safer rider. I can still hear your voice in my head!

Fantastic experience: Excellent motorcycle academy with new bikes and a large area to practice in before testing your skills on the road. Did my CBT through to my Mod 1 and 2 for my full license in two weeks. John was very accommodating and had a professional attitude throughout. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I wanted to become a little bit more self-reliant on my bike maintenance so I've recently taken the mechanics course by Motorcycle Academy. We covered most of the jobs that I think I'm likely to do at home: oil change, brake pad change, chain tensioning, suspension checks, changing a spark plug, and several other common jobs. Almost all of the work is hands on and it helps remove any nerves from doing this work yourself. The instructor, Ross, was perfect. He started from finding out what we all wanted to achieve from the course and our experience. Ross gave clear guidance and demonstrations and answered any questions from the class as we went. It felt a very tactile and interactive experience. At the end all the class agreed that we had achieved what we wanted. The course made me confident I don't need to roll my bike into a mechanics shop for some simple or routine checks. It was a fun and interesting course which makes it easy for me to recommend.

Fantastic experience: John the instructor was spot on patient encouraging passed the modules 1st time on my final test I had to be somewhere straight after he picked me up from my house for the test and dropped me off where I needed to be straight after when he didn't realy have to .would recommend to anyone for your motercycle training needs

Fantastic experience: Had my CBT training here yesterday and was very impressed with John the instructer, taught me quite a few things that after 25 years of driving I never knew. Very thorough when explaining the controls of the bike and I never felt rushed or under pressure although feeling very nervous when I arrived.

Negative experience: Be aware that the last two review were 4 years ago, which is when the previous owner runs the training school, i am sure that he did a great job and he deserve these comment BUT the previous owner of this training school has left and now the new owner are horrible, extremely un-organlised, poor scheduling, (schedule me with two experience rider, when i don't even know anything about a motorbike, then tell me i am holding everyone back, keep having a go at me) and most definitely not a patient instructor, i honestly wanna to say it is like bullying, writing this review because i don't want anybody else to go through what i been through, because i know if you are reading this you are looking into getting your license and you can be someone's son, mum, dad……and trust me if you are not comfortable with the instructor, it is dangerous. so i would like you to take my advise, there is so much more motorcycle training school out here, do not waste your money here like i did, i even paid another extra £100 to go to another training school in southampton to complete my training because i dont feel comfortable with the instructor there, and when i get to the other training school, puff completely different world compare to the this one, the training school in southampton yes they don't have a big training ground like this one, but the instructor goes into a lot more detail and i feel a lot more comfortable to ask any question that i have and yes i feel so much safer being with the other school compare to this one…….
