Fantastic experience: I switched to the driving school south west after a bad experience with another driving school. My instructor was Gavin and he was patient, friendly, professional, and an all round great teacher. He put me at ease and took things at my pace. I’m in my forties and was nervous about learning later in life but I never felt rushed or pressured. I passed first time today and it’s all down to Gavin. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Good laugh makes you comfortable and will deal with you scaring him every lesson however passed first time

Fantastic experience: My instructor, Mark, was fantastic! I’m from the US with 25 years of driving experience, but I found driving in the UK incredibly daunting. Mark calmed my nerves, boosted my confidence and was incredibly patient. I passed my test this week with just two minor faults thanks to his excellent instruction. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: This is a great driving school. Customer service helpful and easy payment system. My instructor Gavin has been amazing. I’m really grateful for his patience with me and for encouraging me when I have been lacking in self-confidence. Every lesson was full of practise, Gavin was always happy to answer my questions and he tailored each lesson to my learning needs. We did plenty of mock tests, which really prepared me for the test day and I'm so happy that I passed first time. Thank you Gavin, you are a brilliant instructor!

I have nothing bad to say about Gavin he was absolutely amazing I was a very nervous driver he kept me at ease and reassured me the whole way through, I loved all off my lessons with Gavin. He was friendly kind and supportive, I would recommend Gavin to anyone he is absolutely brilliant with the results showing I pass first time.

Fantastic experience: Could not of asked for a better instructor! Even to the point that I’m glad my provisional took so long to come otherwise I might not have had Dan teaching me. I passed my test first time today, and cannot recommend Dan as a driving instructor enough! Was always patient and considerate and an absolute laugh which always put me at ease. Fantastic experience: A massive thank you to Gavin. Gavin was my instructor just a few weeks before COVID started. So despite having to stop and start lessons continually, I made good progress. I always felt at ease and comfortable during our lessons. Gavin went above and beyond to help me, allowing me to concentrate on areas that made me anxious or worried when it came to test day. So much so, I managed to pass with only two minors. His expertise and knowledge of test routes was excellent. I can't recommend Gavin enough.

Negative experience: Speeding, Tailgating, arguing out your window to a guy in another car whilst going at least 60mph in a 50 zone.. not a good look for a driving instructor. Red Golf MD66 XHV

Fantastic experience: Having moved home from London to Devon it was really important to me to be mobile. Having called a host of schools I feared I would not find an instructor, but the Driving School SW came up top trumps! Having researched instructors I was thrilled to have Daniel as mine, years of experience and it shows! Learning at a later age I was apprehensive as to how easy I may find it, but Daniel never fails to put me at ease. Structuring lessons to my individual needs and going above and beyond to accommodate lesson timings when work commitments dictate. Dan always makes learning fun and I look forward to my lessons each week. A real pleasure to learn with, I would highly recommend.

Positive experience: After many, many years of trying, I finally found Max. Max was patient, logical and thorough. She explained everything very well. I now feel I'm very confident when I drive.

Negative experience: Avoid! My teenager spent 6 hours of driving lessons in first gear and had numerous last minute lesson cancellations When I spoke to the business owner to query lack of progress he refused to listen and eventually lost his temper and put the phone down.

Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of being taught by Daniel throughout my learning and I could not be happier with the experience as well as the results. Learning was made extremely fun, but at the same time, I was constantly pushed to improve every week. Thanks to Daniel, I was able to pass first time with zero faults.

Negative experience: Our experience with 2 learning to drive was awful just alot of talking not driving and just repeating the same routes skills etc. never progressing. Our intsructor Gavin very boring know clear instruction or clear encouragement was all about the money and dragging out so never really got anywhere spent alot for nothing, once my son said he had book his test Gavin said no more I can teach you get your own car or get insured on your mums good luck BYE!!!! no I would steer well clear of this school.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended Rob Gibson as a driving instructor. After having three other instructors before, Rob was by far the best. I came to Rob wanting to pass before 07/04 and he took on the challenge. Very professional driving instructor. Made me feel comfortable driving and not nervous. My confidence rocketed. Thank you for putting up with my weirdness and constantly talking to myself. Wouldn't have been able to get through it without you as my instructor!

Fantastic experience: I did my instructor training with Daniel absolutely brilliant training and he pushed me each week to get me through my test. We had some great fun whilst learning as well as serious times when it was needed. Personally I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to get me through my training with the help and support Daniel gave me was brilliant. It was hard work but it all paid off in the end.

Fantastic experience: I would have no hesitation in recommending Daniel & his instructors at Driving School South West. I have a friend from Brazil who although she already had her licence needed to take a UK test. She doesn't speak much English but she was really well looked after and passed her test with flying colours even though the steering wheel was on the opposite side of the car from what she was used to!
