Fantastic experience: I struggled with driving a manual and had failed 5 times. I lost all of my confidence and thought I would never be able to pass, and had given up until a friend suggested I try automatic. Jim is incredibly kind and calm and helped me gain my confidence and begin to enjoy driving. As someone who has generalised anxiety disorder, it was great to have an instructor who is patient and takes time to explain things in a easy and fun way. I passed my test first time in automatic and couldn't have done it without the support and encouragement Jim gave me even when I didn't believe in myself.

Fantastic experience: Jim is an amazing instructor, he was always super patient with me and he made me feel very comfortable in every lesson. He would listen to what I was concerned about and what I wanted to practice on in lessons and make sure I was then confident in those areas at the end of the lessons. I came to Jim after failing 3 times with a different instructor, then I did my lessons with Jim for a couple months and passed on my first test with him! I would highly recommend and will be recommending to anyone I know who needs a driving instructor.

Fantastic experience: I cannot thank Jim enough for his patience, kindness and help with teaching me to drive. I had previous negative experience and suffer from anxiety quite badly, and from the start Jim was receptive of this and so understanding - making me feel at ease from the get go and he helped me to really believe in myself again! He is very in tune with your own levels of learning and skill, finds ways to help you overcome any issues and grow your independence. If you have struggled with manual learning before - I cannot recommend trying automatic enough, it really took the pressure off my thought processes and enabled me to concentrate and really put my focus where it was needed. The car itself is fantastic to learn in, lots of markers, assistance, rear cameras, easy to establish controls and comfy too. Fantastic experience: I really couldn’t give Jim more praise - what a great bloke. I’m an older learner with a busy job and have been continuing to put learning off after delays to my lessons during Covid. Jim’s calm manner and great sense of humour made the whole experience a breeze. I’m very happy to say I have passed first time with only a few minors and that is testament to his teaching skills. Fantastic experience: Contacted Jim and he was happy to help my daughter continue her driving journey. She had tried 2 other instructors and struggled with their teaching ways. We decided to change to automatic and we found Jim. He has been an absolute star. My daughter has looked forward to all lessons. She's found them really informative and the lessons passed really quickly. Jim was very patient, friendly and calm which helped my daughter to be relaxed whilst driving. What can I say...Thank you so much. I realised that Harriets previous journey wasn't great, and I was determined to change that. We worked well together, and fixed any issues/concerns very quickly. Harriet was very apprehensive at the start but soon started to relax and enjoy the lessons. I still can't believe how calm she was on her Test, and was so proud to present her for Test. He is everything you would want in a teacher; kind, caring, funny, professional, composed and most importantly very passionate about his job and this shines through everytime I go on lessons with him. Negative experience: I am not one to usually write reviews but I was very upset by my experience with Jim because I thought things were going so well. I initially contacted Jim because I was looking for an instructor whose car I could use on a specific date and time which I made clear from the very beginning when I made contact with him. We agreed on weekly lessons and things were going okay - had a few times where he turned up late but I didn’t mind as he was willing to meet me at work which was great. Jim’s car is very well laid out for learners also which was great for someone like me. I informed Jim I was going on holiday for a week and only had a couple of days between me coming back and me having the test (I informed him as soon as I knew I was going) and stated before leaving that I would like to go ahead with the test and made no mention at all about cancelling it. We discussed having potential lessons once I had gotten home but there was nothing set in stone AND there was no mention of the fact that if I didn’t have any more lessons then I couldn’t do the test with his car. So I get back Monday/Tuesday and Wednesday morning when I could contact him I find that I wouldn’t be able to use his car and it was made obvious that he didn’t remember what day my test was which seemed a bit careless. He stated I’m not ready for the test (even though I felt okay) because I didn’t do more lessons after my holiday so he won’t let me use his car. I just don’t understand why this wasn’t explained to me sooner or even said to me once I contacted him when I could - I am now having to desperately look around for a car I can use that is eligible for the test last minute but is one that I won’t even be familiar with. I feel so completely discouraged now and upset and also stressed because I may potentially lose £60 for the cost of a test that I may not even be able to do or pay a significant amount to use a car for the test. I have since learnt that this has happened to others using Jim’s services so I’m just so confused. I wish Jim the best but I have been made genuinely upset from the experience because I thought things were going so well - I feel bad for leaving an overall negative review as its really not in my nature but I had to be honest about my experience. I hope this more in detail review helps. Wish all the best but just disappointed and confused overall.
Hi Emma, sorry that you feel this way. You have written a great review but there are two sides to a story. I'm not going to go into detail but everything was going fine until you went on a holiday right before your Test. When you returned you didn't contact me to arrange lessons and you gave the impression that you just wanted to do the Test day. I did have your Test booked in my diary but decided to inform you that I had concerns that you wouldn't be ready. I made you aware of this and you didn't reply for several days. I then wished you luck for your Test assuming that you were making other arrangements, only to find that you were not. Is this my fault? It is a shame that you feel the need to put the blame on me and give me a bad review. I hope you feel better and I wish you luck with your driving.
Fantastic experience: The best instructor there is, couldnt of asked for a more patient, calm, happy man. Will miss not having my weekly lessons as i had such a fun time each lesson.. although i under estimated myself and didnt believe i could do something, jim always believed in me. Fantastic experience: Incredible driving instructor! I started my lessons in the middle of January and was able to pass first time at the start of May. Each lesson I grew more confident in my driving abilities as I learned more in each lesson, Jim is a fanatic instructor who largely focuses on helping his students feel as comfortable as possible behind the wheel, all while keeping the lessons light hearted and full of fun! Fantastic experience: Jim is an excellent instructor. Even though I have had experience with an other instructor before but never felt comfortable enough in driving . Jim made me feel very relaxed from day one. It was a completely different experience which made me keep going and helped me pass the test. He knows how to help you to progress, doesn’t burden you with lots of knowledge in one go and makes you work on your weaknesses step by step so it doesn’t feel overwhelming and you feel more and more confident in yourself after each lesson. I honestly couldn’t have made such a big improvement in that short duration so can’t thank him enough.

Fantastic experience: All lessons are filled with useful tips, Jim explains everything clearly and there has never been a language barrier. Jim acts to everyone with an unusual way.The lessons were accompanied by interesting and fun conversations, but this personally helped me to relax and focus on driving.The instructor is always polite and in a good mood, the support from him is on top, always gives feedback about what is in progress, what is going well, and what needs to be worked on. Often the driving lesson was literally the best part of the day. Each lesson pleased me with new knowledge. Fantastic experience: Great lessons, structured around you and helps work on any weaker points like I initially did. Very patient and motivational, got me passing 2nd time with only 2 minors! Would recommend, especially if you're nervous or had harsh instructors before, he'll get you that confidence back tenfold!

Fantastic experience: I had to do my test 4 times because of a mistake or an error or the other. But, all through this journey, Jim was very encouraging and very supportive. He’s very patient and always answers all the questions. I always looked forward to my driving with him.

Fantastic experience: Passed my driving test first time with the help of Jim. He is very patient and good at teaching. His explanation has always been very clear and to the exact point. After having had some driving lessons previously with other instructors and feeling very nervous and full of doubt, I met Jim and began lessons with him. He completely turned things around for me. I quickly regained confidence and felt relaxed. He helped me to lean on my strengths and stress less about my weaknesses. and was easy to book lessons with leading up to the test day. Fantastic experience: I have recently passed my driving test with Jim and I would strongly recommend other learners to use his service. Jim is a brilliant instructor, very supportive and reliable. He has a very calm manner and a little bit of humour certainly helps. Jim really helped me to build my confidence behind the wheel and I always felt at ease in lessons.
