From the moment I started my lessons with him, it was clear that Lance isn’t just a driving instructor; he’s an exceptional teacher with a gift for explaining things in a way that makes everything click. His calm and patient approach put me at ease, while his ability to break down complex maneuvers and rules into simple steps made learning to drive not only easier but enjoyable. Lance has a unique talent for pushing me to be my best, always encouraging me to improve while never making me feel overwhelmed. I’ve tried three other instructors in the past, and none compare to Lance. His passion for teaching, punctuality, and sense of humor made every lesson something I looked forward to. Thanks to him, I feel confident behind the wheel, and I’ll be forever grateful for the solid foundation he gave me. If you're lucky enough to get Lance as your instructor, you're in for an outstanding experience. I can’t recommend him enough!

Fantastic experience: Thanks to Faisal, I passed my test first time! He turned me from a nervous driver into being someone who loves driving now. I'm a bit older than most learners so it was nice to talk together to see where improvements were needed, agree on what to work on in the lessons, and he was really patient when I made mistakes. It felt like he really had my back. I've had three instructors now (from different schools) and he was the best one I've had. Highly recommend him if anyone needs a trustworthy, patient and cool instructor. He is the GOAT!

Negative experience: Seeing so many positive reviews really makes me wonder why I had the misfortune to be given the worst instructor from this company a few years ago-Harish, and I realised recently that he zapped my confidence so much that I have never had another driving lesson since.

Fantastic experience: Hello Guys! I just pass my driving exam today. So lucky to have Miz as my driving instructor. I started automatic, He teaches me great deal in how driving is. Very calm, friendly. Your anxiety and nerves will go away. Then I took manual driving exam with the help of Syed as my instructor. Very calm and friendly same with Miz. He gives you lot of important things in driving so you can drive independently and safely. Your the best guys! Would recommend them 100 percent.

Fantastic experience: I had a refresher lesson with Miz after 10 years without driving. Miz was an excellent instructor. I felt calm and at ease after being pretty nervous. We covered everything I wanted to. After only two hours I genuinely feel a million times more confident and ready to drive independently.

Fantastic experience: I have just passed my automatic test after learning with Miz for the last few months! I had two instructors previous to Miz, and felt like I learned more in much fewer lessons with Miz than the other two together. I am dyspraxic and probably quite a slow learner, but Miz has been consistently patient, calm and encouraging. He also has very simple ways of explaining manouvers so they really got drilled into my brain. I will definitely be recommending him to anyone I know who wants to take lessons.

Fantastic experience: A fantastic driving school who I'd highly recommend. I feel like I've come out of the experience a safe and confident driver. I'll really miss my lessons! That's something I never thought I'd say - I tried other driving schools and lessons used to fill me with dread. I learnt with Tina who is an amazing instructor, she made me feel at ease and was also honest about where I needed to improve. She quickly understood what teaching style would work for me and we always ended lessons on a positive note, an approach that made a massive difference to my confidence. We worked hard, but had fun along the way! Shoutout to Sarah and Faisal for helping me out less than a week before the test (there were unforeseen circumstances and I couldn't use Tina's car). With their help I was able to get a vehicle and a bit of practice in a new car and pass my test! I am so grateful that they were able to help me out - it just goes to show what a great team they are. I know how hard it is to find a good driving instructor, and having worked with two of them, I'd say the quality is really high at Herne Hill Driving School. Not only are they no-nonsense and really knowledgeable, but you know they have your back, which makes a huge difference.

Negative experience: I had the most awful instructor and she kept shouting at me even though it’s been more than a month since I did driving lessons and she wouldn’t even listen to me at all. Also she calls and tells me on the phone she is gonna do a 2hrs driving lessons and then only teachers 1 & a half hrs on the day and doesn’t even help me when I say I have forgotten how to do something cuz it has been a long time and I did driving for like 2 months and couldn’t even do it for a long time as they is nobody taking new students. Defo don’t recommend this lady she is so rude and nasty to me. Go driving with this company at ur own risk. And also I am not a horrible person but this lady who taught me was horrible but the lady who owns the company is a nice person but the instructor is nasty never will I go back to this company again

Fantastic experience: I had Haarish as my driving instructor and I have happily passed my driving test with one minor fault. He’s highly recommended. When I started I couldn’t get my head round the car or the roads but with haarish pointers I’ve managed to get that confidence on the road. He has a good nudging system for all lessons that really worked with my very busy work schedule and he’s very punctual . He was also very patient with me. Recommendation for all students who has Haarish if you don't understand something just tell him and he’ll make you practice so you have that confidence in handling all manoeuvres.. one very happy learner

Fantastic experience: Harish has been an excellent and had a very calming manner with me over the 2 refresher lessons he gave me. I left feeling very confident in my ability to drive an automatic car having driven a manual since 1983. I am going out on my own determined that his confidence in my driving ability will see me through. If I still have any concerns about anything to do with my driving I can refer myself back to his calm confident tuition. He left me feeling I know this driving school and Peter's friendly manner when I made my first booking was very welcoming and assured me I will do well with Harish. And I did. Negative experience: I had my lessons with Harish!!! He was very unprofessional.He expects me to know everything despite being a learner.He had the guts to say I should use my common sense just because of an error. He doesn't teach me what he is meant to teach me until I got a list of what he is meant to teach me. I won't be recommending him to anyone.To say the least, I am still hurt by his common sense statement!!!

Fantastic experience: I had several manual lessons with Muji after driving abroad for nearly 20 years - she was exceptionally patient, an excellent communicator, and gave great guidance and teaching, and really helped to correct some terrible (old) habits I'd developed. I've now passed my test and would recommend her to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience with my driving instructor Muji who helped me feel ready to take my test. Muji was accommodating of my working hours and I was able to fit in lessons alongside my 9-5. We practiced on lots of different roads so I could feel confident driving near my test centre, and I had experienced many situations on the road. I would highly recommend Muji, she is kind and patient and helped me to start driving again after a long break.

Fantastic experience: I met Gary a week before my first manual cart test after my previous driving school had no drivers available for my test. Gary was really honest with me about my level and correctly advised me to move my test to another date, looking back it was the right call as there was no way I would have passed at that point. I moved my test as advised and did one lesson with Gary and realised that everything that I had learnt before was nonsense. He is very patient and really simplifies how the correct way to drive is. Everything from how to approach manoeuvres to clutch control (I learnt manual) to roundabouts are explained simply and clearly. Anyway I passed 1st time at West Wickham and I owe it to Gary's guidance, I would highly recommend this instructor to anyone who wants to learn to drive. Herne Hill Driving school were highly communicative throughout the whole process and I would also highly recommend them too. Aaron

Fantastic experience: I came to Gary having taken a few lessons when I was younger but not then driven for 20 years. I was rustier than hoped in the beginning, but ultimately passed the test first attempt. Would recommend Gary to others as he'll be realistic about your level and when you're ready to take the test, but without delaying unnecessarily, so has a very good pass success rate. His car is also very nice to drive as well.

Negative experience: Do not waste your time or money with Herne Hill Driving School. Unreliable and unprofessional through and through. I've only given one star because there isn't the option to give zero stars I have had the worst experience with Herne Hill Driving School. Three instructors have taken me on as a student and each of them have left me high and dry after just a few hours of lessons. The first (2023) moved out of the area, and I think it was irresponsible to take me on as a student if he knew he had plans to leave. The second (Jan 2024) spent much of every single lesson complaining to me about Sadiq Khan and ULEZ and when I very politely asked him if we could focus on driving and not discuss politics he was visibly irritated. So I think that was his issue with me. However when he cancelled on me, he said it was because I didn't live in *his* area (bear in mind I live in Herne Hill - if this was the true reason, I don't understand why they would have instructors who refuse to teach in the area). The third cancelled on me (March 2024) with less than 1 month until my test due to personal reasons beyond his control. Fair enough. However, Herne Hill Driving School never once got in touch with me after any of the cancellations to help me secure another instructor or cover the gaps, despite knowing that my test was booked for April 2024. When I spoke to Peter and explained my situation and asked for the price of some future lessons to be waived as a courtesy for my inconvenience his response was 'why would i do that?'. Excuse me??? Customer service is as shoddy as the reliability of the drivers All of this means that less than one month to my test I have only covered about half of what I need to have covered to even have a shot at passing, despite spending HUNDREDS of pounds on lessons with this driving school. And no other reputable driving schools have availability at such short notice. I'll have to cancel my test. With a six month waiting time for another one, I feel like all of my time and effort has been completely wasted. I am disappointed and furious about it all, and Herne Hill Driving School are completely to blame. Avoid avoid avoid avoid avoid

Fantastic experience: I would give Herne Hill Driving School 10 stars if it were possible. I want to thank Harish for teaching me the core skills for driving, and a huge thank you to Miz for getting me test ready in such a short period of time. I'm so happy to say I passed first time with only two minors. It wouldn't be possible without the confidence and reassurance Miz gave me. I would recommend Miz to anyone who wants to learn to drive, he is calm, friendly and just a brilliant instructor. 10/10.

Fantastic experience: Gary is a fantastic instructor, he was able to fit in my partners driving test date at very short notice. Giving him extra time before the test date. Gary is very experienced, and my partner passed his test!! We are both very thankful for his time and effort within such a short time frame of booking. We would happily recommend Gary

Fantastic experience: I passed 1st time after having lessons with both Sophie and Gary, 2 of the best instructors I could have hoped to have got. I couldn’t suggest a better duo. Sophie was a very calm and easy going instructor who taught me from the get go and made it so I was fully prepared and very confident on the day of the test when nerves were the thing I worried about the most. I had a few extra lessons leading upto the test with Gary who made sure any small mistakes I was still making were sorted and ironed out. Cant thank these two enough, would 100% recommend them both!

Fantastic experience: I was assigned to Gary two weeks before my driving test, having never been taken to the test site or been prepared for the routes I would have to do. Gary, despite not having any gaps in his schedule, made time for a series of four and three hour lessons over the course of the two weeks to make sure I was ready and in the best possible position to pass. He was consistent, communicative, knowledgeable and real pleasure to be taught by. He put me at ease on the day of the test, and I really believe that no-one could have prepared me better. I owe Gary a huge amount as after two weeks - I passed first time! A real gem - thank you so much Gary!

Fantastic experience: Tina was an absolutely amazing driving instructor. After feeling very anxious about driving, and having bad experiences with other driving companies and instructors- Tina was incredibly patient with me, and I passed my test easily with her within 6 months. I would highly recommend Herne Hill Driving school and Tina .

Fantastic experience: Couldn't recommend Ravi any more highly. After finding driving really stressful and failing multiple tests before, driving with Ravi was a total reset. He's patient, supportive and a great teacher. I passed the first test I took after learning with Ravi and I actually enjoy driving for the first time ever. Thank you so much Rav and Herne Hill.

Negative experience: I'm pretty disappointed after getting pretty excited about all the positive reviews! I honestly didn't enjoy the lesson with Malek at all, was an hour of hearing the instructor talk. Too much information that wasn't relevant for the task. I drove for like 35/40 mins in a two hour class that finished 10 mins early! His driving was pretty shocking too on the way to the driving area and back to my house. Coming towards a speed bump? Let's just go full speed on it and bounce! The comment about 'driving men crazy' was not appreciated at all. I called Herne hill driving school to book with another instructor for manual and they said that it wasn't possible because everyone was fully booked for 6/8 weeks which I said I was okay to be booked for in that time. They responded with 'that's too far in advance'.

Fantastic experience: Tye was my driving instructor at the Herne Hill Driving School. I passed on 19 February this year at the West Wickham test centre. Tye is easily the best instructor I have ever had. Getting this licence has not been easy as I learned to drive when I was younger and failed several times. Tye was calm, patient and clear when giving instructions and it was an absolute joy to learn with him. I can easily recommend Tye and Herne Hill Driving school to future learners. Many thanks Tom

Fantastic experience: Thank you, Herne Hill Driving School for pairing me with Salim. He is an excellent instructor. I just passed my test and I owe him a great deal of respect and gratitude. He is such a patient and knowledgeable person and I would recommend ANYONE to him. He helped to restore my confidence in driving, as I had last driven (and failed my test) just before the pandemic. He provided sound advice throughout our lessons and helped me to develop the confidence I needed to become a better and safe(r) driver in a matter of 3 months!

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience with Gary! After previously failing my test and getting 12 minors with a different instructor I switched to Garry. He changed and encouraged me as a driver so much. Managed to pass with his help with only 3 minors!! Highly recommend him; he is really kind and patient and wants all his students to do well. Fantastic experience: I have done around 40 hours with another instructor from other center then word by mouth I knew Gary. I have done around another 40h and passed today. Even though I am definitely going to book some more lessons for safety on road with him. Thanks for your patient Gary

Fantastic experience: My instructor, Saba, was a very instrumental factor as to why i passed my test. She taught me very well, praising me on the things i did well as well as letting me know when i made mistakes in order to ensure i learnt from it and making sure i’m less likely to repeat it. I highly recommend her as I would not have passed without her :) .
